Free shipping on pre-orders

I've noticed that when certain games are close to launch that Best Buy often offers free expedited shipping, which usually results in getting the game on release date. I assume this is because they know they will have the game early enough to offer release day shipping, and that having it free increases their sales vs companies like Amazon, who has the same benifit with Prime.
I was wanting to go ahead and pre-order The Elder Scrolls Online for consoles, but I noticed expidited shipping isn't even an option yet. Free standard shipping is the only option... so these are my questions:
If I pre-order now and free expedited shipping becomes an option later, will my pre-order automatically be upgraded to that option without me having to do anything?
If not, will I be able to upgrade the order at no charge myself, or be able contact Best Buy and have my pre-order upgraded at no charge, or is waiting to pre-order my only option to try and get free expidited shipping?
Can anyone tell me if the $10 in Reward Certificates offer will still be available until this game launches?
Thanks in advance for any and all help!

Hello TheGuardianFox-
Welcome to the Best Buy Gaming Forums!
You’ve got quite a few questions regarding our pre-order process, so I hope that I can cover them all with some good answers as well!
With pre-orders where there is a bit of time before they release, all shipping options will be set to Standard shipping only.  Once the release date is closer, other shipping options should be available on the order until it begins processing.  At that point, we are unable to make any modification to the order.
Your order would not automatically be upgraded to any other shipping option unless you are an Elite Plus member, in which case it should be upgraded to Expedited Shipping (1-2 days shipping).  Any changes you would want to make to your shipping would require you to call in and pay as necessary for upgraded shipping.  Please keep in mind that Best Buy makes every attempt to ship pre-orders to arrive on release day, but vendor agreements, shipping concerns and the shipping method chosen can impact when you receive your order.  Generally, the best way to potentially receive your order on release day is to choose Express shipping or In-store pickup (when available).
The My Best Buy Gamers Club “Get $10” promotion should be available until midnight CST of the day before release and is automatically added your to membership should you qualify under the terms of the promotion found here.
You can find more information on our Shipping Costs & Timing here.
Thanks for connecting with us!

  • Expedited Shipping on Pre-Order.

Last weekend, I pre-ordered the new Nintendo 3ds and Zelda Majora's Mask to play on it. I selected in checkout expedited shipping in hopes of getting the items on release day, but understanding that if they got here a day late or so, it wouldn't be a big deal. Earlier today, I got my shipping confirmation and went to UPS to check the tracking numbers. For some reason the items were shipped separately. The game was sent expedited, and will arrive tomorrow, but the 3ds that I would need to play the game was shipped via UPS GROUND and isn't scheduled to deliver until Monday! I know that UPS has no reason to be dishonest about the shipping, so what I'm wondering is why would Best Buy not ship an item with the shipping method selected by the customer? Furthermore, when one item is shipped in time for release day, and the other item from the same order was shipped the SAME DAY, but for some reason isn't supposed to arrive until 3 days later is crazy! I have shopped at Best Buy constantly for the last 12 years, and that's not the type of business I tend to get from Best Buy, and am very disappointed.

    Hello Dust,
I'd like to start by thanking you for purchasing with us and we really do value your purchase. I'm truly sorry for the inconvenience and we appreciate your patience as we work as quickly as possible to fulfill your order.  These are very popular items.

  • Where will it ship to when pre-ordering my house or nearest Verizon Wireless Store?

Where will it ship when pre-ordered?  Does this depend if you order through Apple or if you order through your carrier like Verizon or AT&T?

Do you want it faster, or are you worried about it sitting on your porch?
If you are worried about theft, use the tracking number to see if they require a signature or will leave it unattended.

  • Got charged for free shipping

I took advantage of the Elite/Elite Plus early Black Friday sale and purchased quite a few items.  However, after reviewing my order, I noticed a $5 charge for shipping.  Next to each item it says "Shipping: $0.00" but somehow that $5 got there on the end.  I checked each item as well, and each qualifies for free shipping if the order is over $35 (I bought a tv among other things, so it definitely is! )
I can provide the order number if necessary to any mods here.  I don't really mind how I receive the credit--gift card, My Best Buy Points, etc.  The only thing I am concerned about is possibly messing up my order if anything is done to it.  I have 7 gift cards, 1 large MyBB certificate, and Gamer's Club Unlocked all properly attached.
Thank you for any assistance.  Just message me if you need my order number.

    Hello NeoQuintessence,
I'm sorry to hear that there was an additional seemingly unexplained charge on your recent BestBuy.com purchase.
In reviewing your order, I note that the charge you were assessed is a California Electronic Waste Recycling Fee that must be added -- in accordance with California state law -- to the purchase of video display products such as computer monitors and TVs sold in California. Unfortunately, we cannot offer a refund for this fee.
I hope this helps. Thank you for writing to us with your concern!

  • Free Shipping

    Hello gurus,
I have a requirement which seems to be logical but i am confused so as to configure it in the system.
Our business charges the customer a shipping charge on the total order value basis.
So i have a condition type
ZSHH which has a scale basis = value & scale type = A  ... base scale (means from a particular value)
Group str key = 1 ... overall document (to group conditions at header level)
condition record: here i have maintained different shipping charge for different scales eg.
    scale value                 Amount
        0                              0
        10                            3
        20                            6
        30                            9
    and soon...
now there is an offer for if the customer is eligible then he gets free shipping for an order whose value is above $80
So i need to provide this functionality to the business.
So what I thought is to create another condition type which gives 100% discount.
ZDUM-  Scale basis = value & Scale type = A (base value)
Group str key = 1 ... overall document (to group conditions at header level)
    Cond. Record:
    Scale basis             amount
         80                        100
Which means that any order above $80 gets a 100% discount.
However now the problem is placing the condition type in the pricing procedure.
The pricing procedure looks somthing like this ...
Step  Cnt  C.Type      Description              From  To  ....
450       0      ZSHH      Ship and Handling
451    0      ZDUM     Test Cond. Type
As of now i havent placed anything on the From or To column in pricing procedure.
In this case, ZDUM takes the order value as the condition value and applies a 100% discount if it is above $80 & thus makes the order value 0.
My requirement is to make the shipping charge 0. And I cant put 450 in the from column of ZDUM coz then it starts taking the value contributed by ZSHH as the condition value for determination which is not the requirement.
Now the only thing that I can think of is to make ZDUM as a discount on fixed amount category and put the same scales that I have maintained in the shipping charge as that of ZSHH.
Is there a better way of doing it.
It is urgen... can someone guide me please ...
    Thanks
    Vinit parkar

    Hello Vineet,
you could add a new requirement in pricing procedure , stating that the condition should be activated only if the order is below 80$, else it should skip
to make it more dyanamic, you could also pick the minimum value from the condition type of your condition zsshp
    hope this helps
    thanks

  • Free Shipping by Postcode?

    Hi,
racking my brains on this one.
Have a list of postcodes which I want to be able to offer free shipping on all orders to.
The easiest option would seem to be to simply set the value generated by (I think) shippingCalc to 0, but I can't seem to find a way of making this happen. From what I can see it doesn't seem to be a value I can directly manipulate.
I've tried setting up an option in Shipping Options in BC, with the idea of hiding it and then displaying it after evaluating the entered postcode against an array and selecting it if it matches (using javascript), but no luck, alas.
Any suggestions would be extremely welcome, as this one is important to be able to implement. I've only recently launched into javascript, so would prefer to stick with what I'm currently learning rather than venture in to jQuery or json or Ajax, but if that's what it takes, please let me know.
On a more general note, I would also like to be able to input the postcode before the user clicks on the dropdown to select their shipping options - I presume my best bet there is to use javascript to get the values, hide the system-generated output and then pass them to my own output?
    Cheers,
    Jason

Cheers for the responses to you, both.
I guess in this case I was after a bit more specific information, which I seem to have not communicated very well.
I get the impression, given this is essentially a meeting place between two categories of BC users, that giving stackoverflow-type answers is not really going to work for the web developers who post here, as it's essentially them doing work for free. I get that, and appreciate it. What I'm asking for is advice that falls somewhere in between stackoverflow and what you both have given above. It is completely ok if neither of you wish to provide that sort of help, but that's essentially what I would need.
So, regarding this: "The easiest option would seem to be to simply set the value generated by (I think) shippingCalc to 0, but I can't seem to find a way of making this happen. From what I can see it doesn't seem to be a value I can directly manipulate."
Is that true? Or is it possible to target that value directly?
So to make this easier on anyone who may be willing to help, this is what I had:
    function freeLocalDelivery() {
        var freePostCodes = ["( 2000, 2006, 2007, 2008, 2009, 2010, 2011, 2012, 2016, 2017, 2021, 2025, 2027, 2028)"]
        var ShippingOptions = document.getElementById("ShippingOptions");
        var shippingPostcode = document.getElementById("shippingPostcode");
if ("shippingPostcode" in "freePostCodes" == true)
                    ShippingOptions.onchange(ShippingOptions.selectedIndex = ???);
This is obviously not working, and I truly do not understand why. I've tried variations on the onchange, including .value, using an index value as well as the shippingOption selected value, and I'm just at my wits end. So help by letting me know what needs to replace the question marks for a start, if you'd be so kind, or just give me a slightly more focused idea of how I need to proceed. I'm not asking anyone to write code for me, I just want to learn what I'm doing wrong.
    Cheers.

  • Reserved for Store Pickup, No pre-order and Ship to Store!

I'm reading all these discussions and my head is exploding. I was up @ 4am yesterday banging away like you all.
My criteria was this; I was eligible for upgrade @ $199 with the activation fee waived (sweet). I wanted to pick the phone up at my Apple store because I trust it more then brown.
When I clicked the pre-order link, there was NO option to have it sent to the store, it could only be sent to my house. Let me repeat that, NO option to send anywhere but house. It even says it "Pre-order your iPhone 4 from the Apple Online Store and we’ll ship it free — directly to your door and ready to use."
So I went to the reserve in store process. There was NO WAY TO PAY for it up front. Let me repeat that; NO WAY TO PAY for the reserved phone. So I received my confirmation email and said there is a phone waiting for me on the 24th!
I called 2 Apple stores and chatted online with 3 Apple support people and they ALL, every single 1 of them, said the same exact thing. The only way to pickup in the store is to go through the reservation process. The store will have 2 lines, reserved and general. The reserved will be there all day for you to pick up.
So, does anyone have some proof that you pre-ordered it, paid for it and have it sent to your Apple store, not your home to pick up?

    timmayb wrote:
I got to the page state,"iPhone is reserved for pickup." Please bring government issued ID, debit or credit card...... No email received. Do I really have one on hold????
This time for this phone things are very confusing. I preordered yesterday for in store pickup got through the verification process saw that all my data and cell plan info were correct. Then at the end I got the message "see you at the store". Bring picture id. Nothing else, no confirming email as of today, nothing showing under my account in the on line store. I just came from the store that I picked for my phone to go to and there is nothing in their system either. So I went down to the AT&T store in that mall and preordered it there, no issues. It's just as well since I'm ordering it under my wife's number to get the discount and would have to go there any way to make the switch. I've read other posts from people that saw the same thing on line that I did when they ordered, "see you at the store" but no other confirmation. I'm going to assume that it means the order did not go through. So keep that in mind if you got what I did.

  • Issues with gaming pre-order shipping - improvements needs to be made

Titanfall comes out today. I pre-ordered this game a few weeks ago on BestBuy.com because the 20% off and the $10 certificate were too hard to pass up. I placed my order, put expedited shipment since I knew I couldn't make it to Best Buy after work on Tuesday (I carpool right now) and called it a day.
Except here's the thing. Not only did the game not ship in time to arrive by today, it shipped UPS Standard instead of expedited. Talking to some others this seems to be a trend.
Certificates, 20% off, these are all great incentives to pre-order my games at Best Buy, but not being able to meet release day shipping even for Elite Plus members who get free expedited shipping?  That isn't even counting the fact that Best Buy didn't ship expedited like they were supposed to. Now I won't get the biggest release of 2014 so far until tomorrow. A day later than I would from most other retailers. These issues really need to be improved and it is largely an operational thing; the games have been sitting in your warehouse for at least a week, why my game didn't ship until 3pm Central time on Monday is beyond me.

    Hello tmrendo -
Whenever a pre-order is placed on BestBuy.com for software or a video game title, we ship that item as soon as it's available for release. If expedited shipping is selected at the time of checkout, this means you can typically expect to receive your copy within 2-3 business days of its release. For faster delivery, customers are encouraged to choose express shipping or store pickup at the time of checkout.
    BestBuy.com > Help Center > Pre-Orders
    BestBuy.com > Help Center > Shipping Costs & Timing
That being said, thank you for your feedback! We rely on customer input -- both positive and negative -- to improve our service offerings, so your thoughts are appreciated.
    cleavelandmvp & caliwolv -
I've had the chance to review both of your accounts and can confirm that your orders were, indeed, shipped via expedited shipping. Depending on on your proximity to the fulfillment center that processed your order, UPS Ground may be listed as the shipping method rather than UPS Second Day on UPS' tracking site. Rest assured though that your copies of Titanfall are all expected to arrive within the 2-3 day window provided when you placed your orders.

  • Has your Up-to-Date pre-order shipped yet?

It's now August 28th and my copy of Snow Leopard hasn't shipped yet.
I ordered Snow Leopard via Apple's Snow Leopard Up-to-Date Program in July.
From previous experience (OS X Leopard, iWork '09, iLife '09, etc.) most pre-orders arrive on the release date, at least here in the US, and for a while there, the product page for the full-price ($29) upgrade on the US Apple Store actually said "Delivery on August 28th".
I see reports from customers who pre-ordered the full-price upgrade that theirs has shipped. In Australia, they've already started arriving.
I haven't seen any reports of customers who pre-ordered through the Up-to-Date program receiving theirs yet.
Are Up-to-Date customers going to have to wait?

Where did you find the information saying that the upgrade to Snow Leopard is free? It is NOT free - the $9.95 price is not the shipping cost, it is the cost of the upgrade to Snow Leopard if you purchased a qualifying Mac this summer.
The shipping is what should be free. My total came to $10.55 with the tax - i ordered my copy of SL about a month ago for the $9.95 price. The $29 price is for anybody else who wants to upgrade their Macs to SL.
As i said i ordered mine over a month ago, and my order status still says Not Yet Shipped, now on August 28th.
Apple doesn't give anything away for free - whereever you found that the upgrade to Snow Leopard is free, you either mis-read the fine print, or mis-understood what somebody was telling you.

  • Change pre-order from SHIPPING to IN-STORE PICK-UP

    Hello,
This past Sunday, 11/9/14, I placed a pre-order for Super Smash Bros. Wii U to be shipped to my home, but I would now like to pick the game up at a local Best Buy instead -- specifically, the Cambridge, MA location (Store #537).
I spent 30+ minutes on the phone with three reps earlier today trying to do this and none of them were of any help, but I've found previous posts on the support forum wherein users had the same request granted (for example: http://forums.bestbuy.com/t5/Gaming-Support/Would-like-to-switch-preorder-games-from-shipping-to-in-...). Since the order has not been prepared yet (the game isn't out for another week or so), I'm hoping that this is still a possibility.
    Thank you in advance!

    Hello dwkwd,
Depending on the status of the order and the availability of the item wanted, there are times when we may make modifications to an online purchase, so I’m glad to hear that our email support team was able to honor your request and change your order for in-store pick up.  If you have any further questions though, please feel free to let me know. I’ll be glad to help.
    Enjoy your new game!

  • Can I change pre-orders from In-Store Pickup to Ship-to-Home?

Right out of the gates, I know I'm far from the first person to have concerns about amiibos and pre-orders associated with them.
I have all of wave 3 as well as the Best Buy exclusive Meta-Knight preordered for In-Store Pickup, but my Wave 2 preorders have been extremely hit or miss thus far. My Little Mac never showed up in store, and when the CS representative there offered to have one shipped to me, it was cancelled. My Pit never showed up, and I was never even given a chance for a contingency. I had just missed out on it entirely.
My friends who pre-ordered with Ship-to-Home have had little to no issue, so if possible, I would like to change my preorders to be handled that way.
Overall, and like many others, I'm very disappointed with Best Buy's In-Store Pickup option. As a result, I find myself backing up pre-orders with other retailers. I'm not wild about the concept of preordering with Best Buy being such a gamble. If there's any way to shift me over to Best Buy's more reliable Ship-to-Home option, I would very much like to do it.
Thanks for any help or advice.

    Hi there ActionKazimer,
The amiibo figures are wildly popular! I can understand why you would be concerned with your store pickup pre-order if you haven't had the best of luck with your previous ones, which I am deeply sorry to hear about.
Sadly, as the amiibos are currently sold out online, we would be unable to modify your order for shipping to your home. With that said, at this time your best bet would be to keep the pre-orders as they are. I apologize if this was not the response you were hoping for when you reached out to us on the forum.
Please let me know if you have any other questions!

  • Why is a pre-order phone no longer allowed to be shipped to my work address??

On Friday, April 4, I went into my local Verizon Store (Orlando MetroWest) to pre-order the new Samsung Galaxy S5.  The order was placed and I was given a copy of the receipt which looked very accurate.  The sales rep had read back to me the Bill To and Ship To address in the store, and it was correct, but didn't show up on the receipt given.  When the confirmation e-mail came to me, I noticed that the Ship To info had my company name, and an address, but my name appeared nowhere on it.  I called to question this when the store opened on April 7, and all of the answers were "I don't know.  I'll have to research and get back to you."  When there were no calls returned I checked again and received the same response.  When I left my office for the day, I still had zero answers.
I drove to the same local store and re-hashed what I'd tried to accomplish during the morning.  I was told there was no way to amend the shipping label once the order was input, despite the fact NO orders for this phone have yet to be fulfilled, since they are still in the warehouse.  I work in a nine story building with every single office working for the same global company.  There is no chance whatsoever that the FedEx delivery would ever make it to me without my name being on the label.  I don't even think FedEx would try.  It was just foolishness at the time the order was originally input (by the Verizon Store).
During the morning there was mention of possibly cancelling the entire order and starting from scratch, which I was totally OK with, as even that delay would be quicker than someone signing for the box and it sitting God Knows Where for days/weeks.  When I said we should re-visit that option, I was now informed that it is a "Verizon Policy" to avoid fraud and NO pre-order phone could be delivered to any address except the account address of the phone owner.  That was surprising to hear since it had been done (albeit incorrectly) just a couple of days earlier.  The answer to that was, "Oh, she made a mistake in trying a work-around".  Since I was recording our complete interaction (love that feature on my current phone), I asked manager Mike to verify a third time that he could not send a phone to my office address where I am during FedEx hours, and I could not adjust the existing order to come to the store for pickup.  The answers were No and No.
My last two Verizon phones were shipped to my office, but I do understand that some company policies do change.  I just think this is a doofus change.  I also think it was pretty foolish for the original sales rep to miss putting a person's name on the shipping label.  I have trouble believing that the computer order system would even allow her to make that mistake.  But Verizon is in phone sales exclusively and not in the corporate shipping business.  Perhaps this is some needed training.

    Epilogue:
My problem has been solved, and I'm now happy to have my pre-order of the new Samsung Galaxy device completed in a way that totally satisfies me.  But I am kicking myself for not going this route in the first place.  I won't make that mistake again in the future FOR SURE.
After the manager in the local Verizon Store (Orlando MetroWest) said there was nothing he/they could do to overcome the error made earlier by their store sales representative, because it was a pre-order and nothing can be changed/corrected for the initial input.  They had failed to put my name on the shipping label requested for FedEx delivery, meaning that the box containing my phone would probably NEVER reach my hands once if was delivered to a nine-story office building with many many employees.
I simply went to my local BestBuy store and mentioned I had a very few questions to be answered prior to attempting to place a pre-order of my new Samsung phone.  I asked if the phone could be set for delivery to my office and the answer was a quick YES.  I asked if the phone could be set for pickup at the BB store and, again, the answer was a quick YES.  They were initially surprised to hear that any company would say otherwise. BestBuy requires a photo ID when they take a phone order, and a signature is required when FedEx makes its delivery, so they assured me the Verizon "Fraud Policy" quoted to me was not a standard retail answer AT ALL.  Thirteen minutes after I walked to the mobile phone department, I was walking out with all my confirmation details for a new phone.  The purchase was less out-of-pocket since BB doesn't do that VZW arrangement of paying $50 extra and then getting that back as a mail-in rebate later.  Seems no other carrier except VZW is charging that extra fee for this new device.  On top of that savings, BB gives you a $10 gift card just for doing the pre-order with them.  Bonus!!
I may (or may not) receive my phone a few days later than those ordering at the Verizon Store, but in my situation I was assured to get mine late due to the shipping label error.  No matter what, I'm going to be pleased with my purchase, and BestBuy just earned additional respect with the way they accurately handled my Verizon purchase.  VZW it still a quality mobile phone provider, but (in my personal opinion) they are extremely weak in the guest service side of the business . . . which almost negates those other positive things.
