Free software to convert videos to iPod format

Is there a free software inwhich you can convert videos to an iPod format? I have a .VOB file that needs converting and I can not figure out how. Is there a feature in iTunes that will help me with this? And if there is no free software, what is the best one to purchase, there is so many options!

Try Videora Ipod converter.

  • Free software to convert video on mac?

When looking for free software to convert some MTS and WMV files to play on my blackberry Z10, I found two software talked about most by people online, Handbrake and MacX Video Converter Free Edition.
Handbrake, I know it is popular among people, could convert any video to MP4 (M4V), MKV and convert videos for popular mobile players including iPad, iPod, Apple TV, PSP, etc.
While MacX Video Converter Free Edition is able to convert between HD videos MKV, M2TS, AVCHD and SD videos AVI, MP4, MOV, FLV etc. It also can easily convert videos to iPad 5, iPhone 5S, iPod, Samsung, HTC, PSP, Microsoft, Xbox and ,more as well as convert pictures into a slideshow video.
Anyone tried both of them? Which one is better?

When I download standard Video Podcasts H264/MPEG4 does the Itouch need to Transcode them? Example on the Creative Zen V plus downloading the latest edition of Cnet Live it took 13 minutes to convert the file. Will files downloaded from Itunes be about the same size from the download to the player? Example a 200Meg file downloaded to the Zen V Plus will convert to 1 Gig or more!
    Thanks for your help.

  • NO AUDIO WHEN CONVERTING VIDEO TO IPOD FORMAT

This is really ******* me off. My .mov's are being converted via QTPro to mV4 with no audio. Why does this have to be so f*ing difficult? How can I extract the audio and re-sync it to the video? I have a powerbook and have finalcut and logic express.

There's no problem converting to an actual file that iPod plays, it just doesn't add the audio to the new file. I hear that you have to have the video and audio file with some .movs (possibly with old codecs??) before you convert them to ipod format. So, I have to extract the audio from the .mov (probably with final cut) and then import the video along with the audio back into final cut and then convert to the m4v.
I just don't know why this process is so difficult, there should be a program that extracts the audio with video to the correct format. I've tried every program and with final cut so far and none of them add the audio to the final video.

  • Software to convert video to iPhone format

Are there any software recommendations online to convert video files to a file that the iPhone can play?

This one is free. I've used it for some time to convert video for my iPhone and it works fine, great quality too.
I have also used it with my iPad and it works fine with that too with the same excellent results.

  • Problems converting video to iPod format

So I just finished setting up my new video iPod, new firmware, latest iTunes version, etc.
I subscribed to several new video podcasts and they were delivered as .mov files. So I right-clicked, selected "convert to iPod" and waited.
Everything went fine (mostly, one podcast kept telling me the file wasn't found, but I could play it in iTunes).
But when I tried to sync any and all of the videos to the iPod, iTunes told me that it was in an unsupported format!
Heck, I even ripped a movie to iPod format (the H.264 codec) with Instant Handbrake and iTunes doesn't like that. Or the video that I created from iPhoto.
Reading here, it sounds like the only option to fix this is to use iSquint or one of the other converters. That's a real whip, since it sorta kills the concept of "easy updating" that is a podcast.
Have we just written off the Apple functionality? Is there a way to make it work? Am I doing something wrong? Is there a problem with the iPod?
    Thanks!
    Jake

I can be of minimal help. Some Video Podcasts are downloaded ready for the iPod (example: NBC Nightly News) and some are meant to be watched on the computer (Example: MacBreak).
I personally use Quicktime Pro for converting movie files to the iPod. Quicktime Pro has an "Export for iPod" option that has, of course, worked flawlessly. The reason I say minimal help is that you'd have to purchase Quicktime Pro for $30 or whatever the cost is these days. Another advantage is that it'll play your videos fullscreen. Which isn't necessarily a good thing though depending on the video quality.
I personally haven't converted any non-iPod Video Podcasts but this is how would probably do it. Drag it out to your Desktop; open it in Quicktime; Export for iPod and save to your Desktop; Drag the new iPod friendly Video back into iTunes. Could be a better way but that'd work and be my first attempt.

  • What do you use to convert videos into ipod format?

    Please help me

I would suggest that you use a third-party program to do this.
MPEG Streamclip is free program that works good and can convert vodeos to a compatible format for your iPod (either .m4v, .mov, or .mp4).

  • Converted videos to iPod format--NO SOUND???

Hi, I just used iTunes to convert three Quick Time videos of mine to work with my iPod. One of them wouldn't convert because it "does not allow for saving or conversion". The other two came out as MPEG-4 files and when played they had no sound. They transfered to the iPod, but didn't have any sound there either. What can I do to preserve the sound when I convert them?
    Thanks for your help.

we had better check to see if it's all videos that aren't converting with sound (when you do the conversion), or just the specific ones you've been converting. this document should be of some help with that:
Verifying iTunes video conversion and iPod video syncing using sample QuickTime files

Forgot to mention- my page has links, PLUS IT EXPLAINS how to use it in 7 easy steps.
    Have fun!
If you can get it to convert to MPEG-4, more power to you.
I tried all kinds of ways to get iTunes to move mp4 files made on other software besides the crappy Quictimes Pro, and nothing works. Beats me why. If the iTunes software on my machine is screwed up- shows you what crap iTunes is as well. If its my iPod, well its the SECOND ONE I have, because the first was screwy.
The HP264 codects under 500kbps work, so on my page you'll see the list of those coversions that dependably work.

  • How to convert rm to ipod format....

    hey guys,
im not able to convert rm to ipod format. tried out jodix converter. its asking for codecs. if any codecs plz post it here, and pleasesuggest any good converter
    thz in advance

    http://www.any-video-converter.com/any-video-converter-free.exe
Any Video Converter 2.5.2 is free and can convert RM to iPod format.
Just select the "Mobile Phone/Device" option when selecting the destination video format, set the audio option to AAC and manually change the video size to 320x240.
(The Professional version costs money and has an iPod format built in, but the above link is for the free version which does exactly the same if you set it like I explained above.)

  • Converting Video to iPod, can you change name of file

When you convert Video to iPod format, can you change name of the new file or put some "marker" so one can tell which is the orginal and which is the new file?
Currently it is difficult to tell between the orignal and the new file.
    thanks in advance
    Rohit

You'd probably be better off doing this sort of editing in iTunes, and letting it move the files appropriately.
Go to the preferences, Advanced tab, and check the box to 'Keep iTune Music folder organized'. Then any changes you make to song names or other info (within iTunes) will automatically be applied.

  • Exporting videos to Ipod format qith QuickTime Pro

    Hey guys,
i just recently bought an Ipod Video, and i use Quicktime Pro to convert videos to ipod format for it. My problem is that the converted video (M4V) never has any audio. Wheather i try listening to is on my computer or on the ipod, no audio at all. Did anyone experience the same thingf? Does anyone know what i'm doing wrong, or how to fix it?
    thank you,
    -chris-

Open the original video in QT Player and check MovieInfo. If it says the video is a muxed mpeg then QT Player Pro will not convert the sound from such videos: QT Mpeg Limitations
Some Windows users have reported success with this freeware Windows program.

Other report problems so no guarantee it will work for you.

  • Cant hear audio after converting videos for ipod

After i convert any video i have with itunes, it loses the audio. does anyone know how i can fix this so i can watch videos on my ipod with sound

QuickTime expects video files with separate video and audio tracks, but many MPEG formats used a muxed (multiplexed) single track that contains both. Therefore, when you convert videos in iTunes to iPod format they only show the video and no sound since iTunes (really QuickTime) is not looking for the audio track within the video track and it gets lost.

One way to work around this is to use MPEG Streamclip to convert the files to fix this issue...
