Free songs not free?

I always like to hit the "Free on iTunes" every week. Have found some cool new artists that way. But the last couple of weeks, songs/videos that appear in the "Free on iTunes", when clicked, are NOT free. Last week I ended up paying for a video that was suppose to be "Free". At least, one would assume it is supposed to be free since it appears in the section, "Free on iTunes".
This week, two of the items in the "Free on iTunes" section are not "free". If you click the "View" button to look at the details, the download button shows a charge. One is $0.99; the other $1.29. If they aren't free, why are they even showing up in the "Free on iTunes" section. I don't mind paying for music when I want it. But when I'm offered something for "free" and then charged for it, that seems a bit deceptive.
Anyone else annoyed by this?

It would appear that the iPod hard drive or iPod software has become corrupt. This doesn't mean that the songs are not on your iPod, hence the fact that the iPod reports used space and iTunes may show them.
You should restore the iPod and then reload the songs from iTunes.

  • Songs not by original artist.

I tunes lists several songs NOT by the original artist.  Especially in the 70s songs.  I feel duped because I downloaded a bunch of songs not by the original artist, but some other artist that sang the same song.  I think Itunes should specify that the song is by the original aritst or another artist, this is easy enough to do by using an * to indicate original artist or not.  Why don't they have a system that does this?

How do I get it back?
Try downloading it on your computer via iTunes, then syncing it to the phone. When you click Buy, you'll be prompted with a free download, since you already purchased it.
Is there a place I can see a display of all the apps I have purchased.
Computer iTunes > Store menu > View My Account > Purchase History.
How do I delete a song on my phone via my pc? I hate one of the songs because it is not by the original artist.
Delete that song from the playlist(s) chosen for syncing to the phone that contain that song.
How do I make the screen work that should allow you to organize the icons on your various screens? I couldn't get anything to happen it appeared frozen.
Make sure you have the latest versions of iTunes and the iPhone OS.

  • Songs not playing on iPod Touch

I upgraded my iPod Touch 4G to iOS 5.  I had trouble with apps but they are fixed now.  My problem now is music.  It retained my data but some songs won't play.  I didn't buy them on iTunes - they are from an older library when I didn't have iTunes.  Now it just plays the next song and it's very irritating.  They play on my computer and I haven't changed the file location.  Any tips?

Not sure if your issue is the same I had: not playing tunes, playing the wrong tune, skipping ahead several tunes, selected song and playing song not matching. Here was my fix:
Altered from original solution from Emily P:
Okay, mine now works here is what I did.
plug in the iPhone, iPad etc
in iTunes select the phone or iPad
Under Summary uncheck "Sync with this....."
Under "Music" uncheck the "Sync Music"
    Sync
Let it remove all the songs, dont worry it will come back no problems.
Once that is all done all the music on the phone or ipad should be gone.
Now check them both back on, sync, and everything should copy back onto it.
    Working now !!!!!

If you are now in the US then you can only use the US store, so you should update the address on your account
Changing country : Change the country of your iTunes Store, App Store, iBooks Store, and Mac App Store account.
Had you copied the songs over to your computer's iTunes library, do they show in the Music section on it ? You can copy purchases that you still have on your iPad over to your computer's iTunes library via the File > Devices > Transfer Purchases menu option

  • I recently got an iphone 5S and my songs not purchased from iTunes are grayed out (phone only) and are skipped past when playing them through my iPhone.

I recently got an iphone 5S and my songs not purchased from iTunes are grayed out (phone only) and are skipped past when playing them through my iPhone. i have tried the following:
    1) Removing all music from phone and resynced to iTunes PC library.
    2) Erased phone and restored from back up
    3) Erased phone and started as a new iPhone
    4) Reformated the music files in my library that weren't playing
    5) Deleted songs from iPhone and computer and re-imported CDs
    6) Tried to redownload my COMPLETE MUSIC LIBRARY from iCloud.
    7) I have also turned it off and turned it back on several times
    8) I tried syncing through my macbook (only moved partial songs to it to see if it would even work).
    9) I have tried to get Siri to play them, did not work.
    10) All music does play fine on my iPod Touch 3rd (iOS6 i think) gen and iTunes on Mac and PC
    11)  I added a CD to my roommates iTunes and it plays on their iPhone 5S but not mine.
After all of these things it is now WORSE!!!  My iTunes purchased songs are now experiencing the same issue along with some (not all) of the original music files that were skipping and grayed out.  My conclusion is i have no clue at this point!  I have done everything i have found online in EVERY discussion, i have spent over 60 hours trying to get this to work and i am asking myself, i bought this product why am having to fix this when it worked just fine on my iPod touch (3rd Gen) and iPod Classic!!!!  PLEASE APPLE FIX THIS ISSUE FOR US!!!!

I had this problem too after i upgdatd to OS X Mavericks... only the songs on my iphone 5s that i purchased from itunes would play.
i read something about it being a syncing issue. when you plug your phone into your computer with the usb cable, the person said to switch from automatic syncing of itunes to the "manual" option. mine was already set to manual so i wasn't sure anything would work. BUT, when i plugged my phone into my computer, it started to sync all of my music on my phone again (top of itunes bar where song playing/time is listed said "now syncing 123/534 songs to x's iphone"). once that was completed, i checked the music app on my iphone and everything was back to normal!
so, i would suggest setting your music syncing settings to manual if you haven't tried that yet!
    hope this helps!

  • How do I change the start/stop time for multiple songs not just one song at a time?

How do I chnage the start/stop time for multiple songs not just one song at a time?

I don't think you can in iTunes.
Multiple editing in Get Info does not offer an option to change start/stop times.

  • Songs "not copied to the ipod because it cannot be played on this ipod"

After having my ipod stolen i purchased a new Ipod classic. When syncing my music to my ipod i get an error on a number of songs, "not copied to ipod because it cannot be played on this ipod." This did not happen with my old ipod which i purchased just one year prior. Why can these songs not be played on my new ipod?

"I bought this song on iTunes - wrote the song to CD - made an MP3. Then tried to copy the song (MP3) to my Nano."
Was there some particular reason you did this? I'm just curious as to why you didn't leave it as an AAC file.
Do you still have the original downloaded AAC file and does this play on the iPod ok?

  • Songs not copied .....because they cannot be played on this iPod

I'm trying to add songs from a cd onto my iPod, and no matter what cd I put onto iTunes, it tells me "Songs not in the iTunes music library were not copied because they cannot be played on this iPod. I girst got this message when I tried to add songs from a different computer. Now I get it on my home PC as well.
Any ideas how to get my cd's on my iPod without resetting my iPod ? I updated my iPod software, as well as restarting my computer.
    thanks

What is the format of the songs that won't copy. Some of the earlier iPods would not play Lossless or other types of files.

Determine the 'Kind' of the songs within iTunes and post back with more information.

  • Can't add music to iPhone 5s and songs not deleting off phone

Tried restarting phone several times and this has not resolved the issue.
I have deleted a bunch of music off of my phone... when I plug into iTunes, the songs do not show in iTunes but remain on my phone... also when I try to add new music - it won't add the songs(not even in a grayed out state) the file icon just sort kicks back as if iTunes is laughing at me, saying "NOPE! Not today, son!"
'had this issue a few weeks ago and it seemed to resolve itself magically... now it's happening again. Very frustrating.

  • Songs not showing up in Artists section

A few artists of mine will not show up in the Artists section of the iPod, but their albums will show up in the Albums section. When I play the album, the artist is displayed correctly on the Now Playing screen. How can I correct this so that the songs are visible in both the Artists and the Albums sections?

This isn't foolproof but there are usually two things that contribute to songs not appearing under Artist on the iPod, both due to information either in or missing from the Get Info>Info tab against the song in iTunes. 1) the song is marked as part of a compilation or 2) it is missing an album name.
If the tracks are ticked in the Get Info>Info tab as part of a compilation, they will not appear under Artist on the iPod. Highlight a song in iTunes that you know is not appearing correctly on your iPod. Right click on it and choose Get Info and click the Info tab (alternatively choose Get Info from the File menu), if "Part of a Compilation" is marked untick it and afterwards update your iPod, you should find it now appears as normal. Compilations are stored in a separate folder in iTunes so the songs don't appear inside the normal Artist>Album folder which may be why this happens.
Also if tracks are missing an Album name in the Info tab, this information needs to be filled in. The no album one is a bit quirky as the songs will appear under certain circumstances but the simplest remedy is just add None or Miscellaneous in place of a title. • Why are some of my songs not in order in my albums?

I was wondering why are some of my songs not in order in my albums? This wasn't a problem when I first used i-tunes, but I had to download a newer version of i-tunes to get my sister's ipod to work.  For Example my album "AC DC Live" has track #3 Back in Black as the first song listed.  How can this be fixed?

    Hello igho234,
Thank you for contacting Apple Support Communities. You don't mention how those songs got onto your playlist, but this article may address your issue, if they were imported from a third-party application or CD.

  • Songs Not Showing Up Under Artists

So ive put my entire iTunes music library onto my brand new 5th generation Ipod, yet a bunch of my songs arent listed under their appropriate artist. For example, i have a bunch of ACDC songs on my iTunes that are all labelled "ACDC" under Artists with the exact same spelling....yet only one song shows up under ACDC on my iPod. I know that the rest of the songs are on my Ipod because i can reach them by scrolling through by song name, but I'd like them to show up under their appropriate artist too. Any suggestions?

  • Songs not showing up in each category

I've just purchased my first iPod and I'm having some difficulties when I update the ipod with new music. I've filled out all of the information about the song (artist, album, genre, etc...) but for example, if I go to a particular artist all of their songs do not show up in that category. I've double checked each song on iTunes and the information about the song is correct... Help!

  • Songs not showing up in iPod. Please help!

Okay, today I noticed that there are select songs not showing up on my iPod touch.
I make playlists for all my music...and some songs will be in the playlists, and some aren't.
So when I search for the songs with artists or song name, it's actually ON my iPod and I can play it. Just not in the playlist I put it in.
So I check on iTunes to make sure they are in the playlist, and they are. And playable.
So why aren't some of the songs selectable in the playlists? They are on the iPod, but just not in the playlists. PLEASE HELP

    Anyone?
