Free space problem in / with oracle-xe-11.2.0-1.0.x86_64

Hi,
I'm trying to install Oracle-xe-11g on Red Hat 5.6, but I have the following problem:
[root@localhost] rpm -ivhf oracle-xe-11.2.0-1.0.x86_64.rpm
Preparing... ########################################### [100%]
installing package oracle-xe-11.2.0-1.0.x86_64 needs 180MB on the / filesystem
However I have enough free space in /, df command shows:

How do I fix it?Add Space.
Looks like you've got a less than 4G total for / with about 420MB free. That's nowhere near enough space, out-of-the-box the datafiles alone take about 1G.
Try bumping sda2 up another 4G, or add a (at least) 4G partition and mount it at /usr/lib/oracle

ASP application has problems working with oracle database 8.1.7 through both oracle ODBC driver and Microsoft ODBC driver
We have an ASP application running on Windows 2000 server, and with 8.1.7 Net8Client and MDAC 2.6 SP1.
The application worked fine with an Oracle 8.0.5 database.
After upgrading oracle database to 8.1.7.0.0, our ASP application works fine except when updating the same data record more than once. The application is not saving our updates.
We tested our application using Oracles ODBC driver v8.1.7.5.0
and experienced more problems. We had problems just bring up our data entry pages. In either case, we are returned with some 505 errors in our browser, problems with the ASP pages and IIS, the page is not displaying.
If anyone has some suggestions on how to fix my problem, please advise. Thanks in advance.

Well, with apps genneraly you do get told ahead of time. I'm not sure of the current algorithm with movies though.
Why not just clear up some space? You can check your usage in your settings btw.

As for make more free space on icloud...
Delete old emails you no longer want,
Go through your calendars, contacts, etc. and delete those you no longer want,
Delete backups: Settings>iCloud>Storage & Backup>Manage Storage, tap the device name and on the resulting screen, scroll down and tap on Delete Backup.

Disk Utility erase free space problem

I tried to clean my hard drive by overwriting the free space using Disk Utility to make deleted files unrecoverable. But I got the message: "Your startup disk is almost full. Make room by deleting files." But my hard disk is 250GB (Capacity 232.6 GB) of which 197.4 GB is available and 35.2 GB used. I also have a 40 GB Iomega external hard drive which I use for automatic daily backup (using Chronosync). If I try to overwrite the free space on that drive with zeros, I get the message "Secure Erase Free Space failed -- Could not create temp file." There is 17.5 GB available. The Volume format is "Mac OS Extended (journaled)."

You can reformat it. Plug the drive in, launch Disk Utility (in your Alications> Utilities folder). Select the dove, theme erace/reformat it.
Just be carefully you accidentally don't erase any other external drives!

Problem connecting with Oracle 9i Database

Hi Gurus,
I'm having problems with connecting to Oracle 9i Database.
I have a newly installed XML Publisher running on Windows XP SP3.
I can't get my data source connected to other server running Oracle Database 9i.
It keep on saying "Could not establish connection"
Im using jdbc:oracle:thin:@host:port:sid format , username/password are correct.
What seems to be the problem?

Let me clarify. I had an Oracle XML Publisher installed in my laptop (Windows XP SP3). I want to configure my XML Publisher to connect to a server
where Oracle Database is installed (Oracle 9i DB). I can connect to this database using SQL Plus, SQL Developer. My problem is that after configuring the JDBC connection in XML Publisher, i still can't connect to the said oracle db. The info are correct SID, Hostname etc. and still can't connect.

I am having a similar problem, where I couldn't connect to Oracle 8i database (817). I am getting a error message when I tried to use Packaging Wizard -> Snapshot -> Import -> Username/password and jdbc:oracle:oci8:@connect string or jdbc:oracle:thin:@host:1521:Sid
The error message is 'No Suitable Driver. Make Sure the Proper JDBC drive for "jdbc:oracle:oci8i:@<connect string>" is in the classpath"

Oracle Developer Suite 10g - Windows 7 - swap space problem

Hi brothers and sisters,
Hope all you are fine. I am facing swap space problem while installing Oracle Developer Suite 10g on Windows 7 . I have downloaded and installed Oracle Database 11g Express Edition successfully and it is working properly. Now, I have downloaded two files
a. ds_windows_x86_101202_disk1,
b. ds_windows_x86_101202_disk2
to install Oracle Developer Suite 10g using Windows 7 Ultimate. The Oracle Universal Installer have passed the following issues:
a. Operating system version,
b. Monitor
But while checking swap space, it gives a message, "0 MB available, 1535 MB required", Failed. I have 2 GB RAM installed and system managed paging file space which is currently allocated to 2038 MB in my system .
Please solve me the problem.

Where did my free space go?!

Thanks to the HardStat widget, I looked at the free space on my drive last night, and I have less than 3 GB of free space left (verified with Get Info and Disk Utility). The problem is, I should have 25 GB or so! I got info on all of the root folders and added up their sizes, and even used my sad UNIX skills to navigate to the root and do a "ls -l -S -h" (thank you man ls) to see if there was something invisible and huge.
I've repaired my permissions twice, and ran a "Verify Disk" in Disk Utility. What am I missing? The only changes I've made in the past few days is setting up a scheduled backup in Carbon Copy Cloner (which ran twice without a problem), and installing Virex last night (which is about to be uninstalled). Help!!!!!

There are, but not with a DVD written as a movie disk. It must be closed when completed, or it doesn't work.
Apple's built in Burn utility also automatically closes any data CD, DVD or Blu-ray disk you burn. Doesn't matter how much space is unused, you can't use it. You'd have to use a more advanced disk creation app, such as Toast Titanium. I then have the option of choosing to write the data as a session:
I can keep doing this until the disk is full. If I've written five sessions to the disk, when I put it in the drive, five CD/DVD icons will appear on the desktop since the OS will treat each session as if they are separate physical disks. At any point you choose Write Disk when writing a group of data, that means you're closing the disk, and again can't add anything after that. So if I had written two sessions, and the third was Write Disk, it's over. I can't put anything else on that disk.

NOT using xp_cmdshell, Can we check free space of drives in windows servers?

I have a strange situation here(may not be to you), as per client security standards,
I should NOT use xp_cmdshell. Adding to this, I was asked to generate a report daily about drives and their free spaces.
Having with xp_cmshell, we have numerous ways to execute this task easily but
NO xp_cmshell. Also, I can't use xp_fixeddrives system proc because it doesn't show-up mounted drives.
So, it would be great if you can share any other possible options using SQLCMD, PowerShell, T-SQL scripts etc that we can get the drives list (including mount points, root directory(C$), Quorum drive, MSDTC drives) and their free spaces.
I tried a couple of ways like using sys.dm_os_volume_stats() function which comes in SS2012. But, couldn't help.

Transaction timed out with oracle 9i

Hi,
I am working with weblogic6.1.
Sometimes (very seldom) I have a problem which I don't undserstand.
The transaction stops and and after some time I get TimedOutException.
This time it happend in the findByPrimaryKey of a CMP Entity bean.
I have this problem only with Oracle 9i. with oracle8i everything works
fine.
I'm using oracle thin driver (I put oracle12.zip at the begin of weblogic
classpath)
Is this problem of oracle?
Does WLS 6.1 support Oracle9i?

IreneOr configuration. You can set your timeout to a different value. It is likely
to be an oracle problem. We don't do anything unnecessary to delay your application
code. You may be able to check the jdbc log or jta log to see when the tx starts and
how long it takes to progress. If you note a delay, you could take a server
thread dump to see what weblogic is doing. Typically it will be waiting for
Oracle to respond from a jdbc call.

ORA-12154 with Oracle 10.2 Client to 9.2.0.3 Database

I'm having a devil of a time getting connected to a new installation of Oracle 9.2.0.3 on Windows 2003. I have no problems connecting from clients running the 9i client. I have a server using the 10.2 client and it won't talk to the Windows server. I don't think it's the client installation since this server with the 10g client has no problems talking with Oracle 9.2.0.6 servers running on Unix. It's only trying to talk with the 9.2.0.3 on Windows.
I tried installing the 32-bit 10.2 client on a newly installed client, and it also can't talk to Oracle on Windows. Again, it has no problem connecting to the Oracle servers on Unix.
Here are the two types of Oracle servers
Windows:
Window Server 2003 32-bit
Oracle 9.2.0.3 32-bit
Unix:
Sun Solaris 64-bit
Oracle 9.2.0.6 64-Bit
Any help would be appreciated. I've tried Googling this, but can't find any helpful solutions. The thing that has me baffled is that I can connect to Oracle on Unix, it's just Oracle on Unix that has the issue.

Well, I reset the nano by holding the menu and center buttons, twice. I dont know what that was supposed to do but nothing changed, not the menu or the amounts of free space. Im going to try a restore now...which I dread because filling an iPod from a library larger than the capacity of the iPod is a pain.
