It sounds like you signed up for FiOS Quantum in addition to the free speed update.
Quantum is a TV product/service and has nothing to do with Internet speed. I signed up for Rewards+ to get the free speed upgrade and I do not have that $10 credit, nor any mention of Quantum, on my current bill.

DSL will not work after speed upgrade

I ordered a speed upgrade (from 3 to 5 down) a couple weeks ago. On Tuesday they confirmed that they completed the order but now the DSL will not work at all. I have an old Westell B90 Infospeed DSL modem (branded as Bell Atlantic) and they swear that the modem is not the problem. I have been on the phone with tech support every day for a week now and still no service. I do not believe they are actually doing anything to remedy the situation. Twice now I was promised a tech would come to my house. I have taken time off from work to stay home and nobody ever comes. One day they say it can be resolved at the central office then that evening they say a tech needs to come. I wait for tech and nobody shows so I call them back. They then tell me again that the problem is at the central office and no need for a tech. They have run me down this path 3 times now. Does anyone have any suggestions on how I can actually get a tech to show up?? I think the call center people are full of lies and just passing me around to avoid the problem. I am in Montgomery County Maryland.

After BIOS update Intel Speed Step not working on Satellite A500

I upgraded my Satellite A500 PSAM3E model to the newest BIOS 1.50, now the Intel speed step not working!
My CPU is always 2GHz+, I chagned Power Plan to balanced, but no change... with previous the CPU was around 800 MHz.
When I try to change Windows 7 power management and set maximum CPU performance to 50 or 80% the system freezes.

Which older BIOS version did you use before update to 1.50?
I also use the maximum CPU performance option for Eco mode (50%) but this does work properly.
Furthermore it would be interesting to know if you use factory settings or your own Windows installation. Normally after using Toshiba recovery disk you dont have to install any Toshiba tools anymore. Everything is preinstalled on your notebook.

Speed did not double, it went down.

I got the double my speed email from Comcast the other day so I decided to follow their instructions to upgrade my speed. I first did a speed test and I was pulling 47.00Mb/s down and 11.5Mb/s up. I rebooted my modem, my router, and my PC. After all was said and done, I was then pulling 4.3Mb/s down but my up speed was still right around 11.5Mb/s. After talking to support, it was decided my router was too old to handle the new speed. I went out and upgraded my router and I am now pulling 27.42Mb/s down and I'm still pushing 11.5Mb/s up. My modem is one of their recommended ones Motorola Surfboard SB6141 and my new router is a Netgear N300. Where did all of my speed go? I'm now getting much less than I was getting originally before the double your speed upgrade.

obviously a really old thread i want to laugh but crying is more realistic at this point. I to had the same exact thing happen. I still don't have the speeds so I cannot give you the answer. However I can tell you what not to do cause I have followed orders and got no results. 1st don't buy or rent comcast equipment it doesn't fix the issue. I upgraded my modem, and router 4x (5 if you count the hr I had comcast equipment before returning it). I started with the blast 50mbps service rarely had actual speed mostly lower. Then they double my speeds and I went from 45ish to 24ish. Now I'm supposed to have 105. According to xfinityspeedtest.net I get 95 but my wifi, and ever other speedtest site im getting 45 to maybe 55 on a good day.

True Speed Upgrade with N?

I just got a Time Capsule and am debating whether I should set it to N or G. Compatibility and equipment issues aside here's my question:
Currently I have Verizon DSL running at 1.5Mbps download/128Kbp upload. I'm not very modem/web savvy and I wanted to know if at my current speeds, setting the router to N will show me a significant performance boost on my network?
I ask because I'm thinking about buying an Airport Express N and don't want to waste my money if I'm incapable of seeing a speed difference at my current DSL speed.

The speed increase will only be apparent in data transfers to devices on the network. DSL speeds have not even reached G speeds yet.
If the only reason you want to upgrade is internet speed, save your money - it won't be effected.
It will, however, increase the speed of TM backups.

Just had this issue. I turned WIFI off and it connected fine. Then turned WIFI back on and working as always.
It had something to do with the WIFI conflicting with the exchange server.

MB990 and SL - Fan speed is not increasing automatically

Two days ago I changed my macbook's hard drive to a bigger one and did a fresh install of Snow Leopard.
As soon as I installed the SL I noticed my computer was running hotter than the previous installation. Without doing anything, my macbook is reaching 75C (167F).. I have already checked the activity monitor and no process is using the CPU. Now I realized that the fan speed is not increasing automatically, it is always fixed at 2000rpm even if the temperature reaches 72C.. I have already tried a SMC reset but the problem persists..
Does anyone know a solution for this? The problem is the fan speed that is not increasing..
I'm having to use smcFanControl to control de fan speed manually. Before the fresh install I was using Snow Leopard updated from the Leopard and I was not facing this problem.

Hi there... i have the same problem. my temperature gets up to 75C with just one window open in safari or google chrome. I have downloaded smc Fancontrol but ...its not enough. have u solved this problem yet? i'm going in to the Genius Bar tomorrow to see if they can help.

BUG: Speed Dials not functioning correctly when Option button is last used

There is a bug in WebOS where Speed Dials do not work correctly. Holding down your speed dial favorites button will not place the call. This happens when the option key is used in launcher or card view before attempting speed dial.
For instance if your last character of a search you did 4 hours ago on your phone contained a series of numbers and you locked the option key to do so, (or even if you accidently hit the option key last and then did not need it) then an attempt to use speed dial "G" will not work, as your Pre/Pixi thinks you are holding down the "6" key and not the "G" key.
This needs to be remedied (for instance have the option key press clear out or unlocked as soon as the search is performed or cleared off of the phone) because there is no way to tell what state the option key is in before using a speed dial (not that I want to check and fiddle with it anyway).

The Z and B keys are the * and # keys. That is why they are not in the speed dial list. Hmmm... while it might be a "bug" at this time your the only person having this issue as far as I can tell. Since the issue moved to another phone it could be that its related to your Palm Profile. I unfortunately cannot replicate this issue but would like to test something. Can you do a Partial erase on your device and create a new Palm profile? This will see if the issue is still on the device.
If it is not then the issue is within your Palm Profile. If that is the case I can help you from there. Please post back when you tried this step.

Constant Speed + Timing not working

Hi,
I have two clips that are in the same group. I've created a motion path whereas the clips are pulled from left to right across the canvas. The 2 clips are a panormic still image that has been stiched in PS.
I've set the timing speed to "Constant Speed" but when I replay the clip the speed is not constant and it seems like the motion "fades" in at the start and "fades" out at the end.

it sounds like there is an amount of easing in and out of the motion path. two things you can do, navigate to the keyframes window, select the keyframes and set the interpolation to linear. Or dont use a motion path and simply apply a Throw behaviour, or set your own keyframes.

Speed Upgrade Advertised For $5 More Per Month Can't Get Any Answers

On Verizon's website is a speed upgrade to 75/75 for just $5 per month more. When I click on the button to order it it comes up as $10 per month more.On Verizon's Facebook page I posted this 3 times and each time my post was answered quickly and I was told they would look into it and get back to me. I can speak from experience on this as I ran into the same situation a couple months ago. A rep. even tried to get me the $5 offer to no success. He could only get it to reflect $10 more. He said something goes on with the system that causes these pricing errors (yet Verizon never fixes them). I was told to wait a week and check the offer again once the system gets updated. I waited a week, checked again and was able to get the offer. My suggestion is to do the same. Wait a week and check again or keep checking daily.

Move the incompatible iPhoto version to the Trash, before you try to reinstall from the AppStore, but don't empty the Trash.

The main idea is to move the iPhoto app to the Trash, so Spotlight does not see it as installed, reload the AppStore Purchases tab with ⌘R, and then to try to download again from the App Store - from your Purchases tab, not from the main page, since you can neither buy iPhoto nor update it, but you can reinstall, if your AppleID is associated with it.

Database is not integrated; upgrade not possible

I am trying to upgrade a 2005B database to SAP 8.8 version using the PL04 Upgrade.exe. One of the steps makes a previous test for Upgrade and show me a message error: " Database is not integrated; upgrade not possible" for the components "Common-Database, Add-ons and Help".
Does anybody knows how I can solve this issues?

Is it dangerous to upgrade not all the packages that are available for upgrade?
May it crash something which is not easy/possible to fix without reinstalling the whole system?

If you are asking such questions Arch is most likely not the answer. And yes, user space programs might be too old for the new kernel or pacman might just not work in the first place due to other changes on our side.

CPU heats up on file copy/backup and fan speed does not increase

Hi Friends,
I have been having issues with fan in my Dell Studio 1555. It has an ATI Radeon card and I had installed the proprietary catalyst driver as the open source driver is too noisy.
Recently, I noticed that on accessing my hard disk and copy files or running backup (luckybackup), the temperature shoots up from around 60 deg C (just using chrome) to 100 deg C when it would shut down itself. However, it seems like the fan speed does not increase with the increase in temperature to help it cool down.
I tried to get the fan speed details with "lm-sensors" but it would not show the fan speed. Here is the output of sensors:

1. CPU temperature shoots on accessing hard drive but fan speed does not increase - Any guide/direction to investigate would be really helpful.
2. Sensors does not show the fan speed. Read about i8kutils, but couldn't figure out how to get it working with systemd. Any indicators here?

The fan was bad. I had to replace the fan. However, I have not been able to figure out how to see fan speed in sensors.
