Free Student version of CS5.5 to CS6!

I had to format my computer so first I Uninstalled my free student version of Adobe Master Collection CS5.5 (also deactivated). Later wanted to Install it again so I went thtough my university profile and then it directed me to the adobe page which is for downloading Master Collection. But it was CS6 now so I downloaded and I gave my license ID but did not work! What should I have to do now?
Thank you

It is not install files. it is a serial code for mac and a link to adobe master collection page which I have to download as trial and then use that lisence key. If it helps I am a student of Academy of Art University at San Francisco.

And what exactly? You need to explain better and provide the necessary technical info. Also where did you get CS5? S&T licenses are only available as current versions and require registration with Adobe to prove eligibility.

  • Student version of CS5

I cannot set up my student version of Photoshop CS5 on my new iMac. It tells me my serial number is not valid even though I paid for the version. Can anyone help? I did have it loaded but could not print. Would always "quit unexpectedly" message when I'd go to print. So, I removed photoshop  thinking I would reload it. Now I can't reload it. I did load the trail version and still get the "quit unexpectedly" message with it also. I have an iMac running OS X 10.9.4.   Please help.

    Hi,

  • Student version CS4/CS5 question...

    Hi All,
I have read many comments on the web re Adobe offering free upgrades to persons purchasing CS immediately prior to a new reference release. Is there an official response on how long the period prior to release is and does this apply to student versions (I was advised that the student versions are not upgradable)? Thanks,
    r.

It seems to me like you are asking about a post-announcement upgrade for an academic version.  The information here leads me to believe that you can get the free upgrade with a student version.
This upgrade policy applies only to single-user retail and educational
versions. Tryout, Beta, Not For Retail (NFR), and bundled OEM versions
    are not eligible for upgrade.
What I don't know is if the grace period for CS4 > CS5 has started now, with this pre-annoucement or if this policy doesn't take effect until the 12th.

  • Upgrading CS4 student version to CS5

I purchased CS4 student edition a couple years ago and am interested in upgrading to CS5.  I have since graduated and can no longer get the student edition.  So I am wondering if I can upgrade my version of CS4 to the current non-student edition of CS5 or am I going to have to buy the full non-student edition?
    Thanks

Studen versions carry full upgrade rights. Make sure you buy the correct upgrade.

  • Unfair Student Upgrde Policy - CS5.5 to CS6

I spent months saving to get the £250 to buy Photoshop CS5.5 and Lightroom 4 using my Student status. I am also disabled, on a fixed income.
When CS6 was launched I was thrilled as I had tried the beta and loved it. BUT I was told that I had ordered SIX DAYS too early and couldn't get the free upgrade. What is more, there is no upgrade price for Students, you have to pay the full £190 AGAIN.
This has to be wrong, it's certainly unfair. It's like taking someones £1000 for the full priced product but then saying that you have to pay the £1000 again to upgrade when your product is less than two month old.
    Thanks Adobe, I am GUTTED
I had even come up with a Faux IR in CS6 with doesn't work in CS5.5!!

How dare you judge me, you know nothing about me, so here you are I’ll tell you.
I am not a Spotty Teenager, I am 56 years old, and am disabled due in part to a brain tumour. I am taking a home study Professional Photography course just to feel I am archiving something, as I am not capable of attending a college.
I only came on here at the suggestion of Adobe Support, I don’t do forums as I have never got any real help from any in the past. I did do some research as to when CS6 was going to be released, but found nothing concrete. As I was using a grey copy, I wanted to buy a legal copy as soon as I could afford it, SO I DID.
Yes I am peeved about not getting the Free Upgrade, for the sake of six days, but I do strongly feel that the 80% discount should be applied for Student Upgrades, this would provide a more even pricing policy. If I am still alive when CS7 arrives, I will count myself as very lucky, but I will not have student status by then and there is no way I will ever be able to afford the full product, short of winning the lottery.
As far as not having the time to learn the product features properly, you couldn't bre more wrong. I find out what I need when I need it. How do you think I devised the Faux IR work round in CS6. I could not find one I thought close enough to the real thing in CS5.5, so I playend in CS6 Beta and devised my own way of doing it, and it doesn't work in othe versions, I've tried it.
It seems to me by most of the comments on here that, they are born out of having to pay the full retail, and not liking someone getting a good deal, “Sour Grapes” just about covers it. A forum is supposed to be of help to people, if you can’t say anything constructive the don’t say anything at all!!

  • How to re-install CS5 student version?

My hard drive crashed so I need to reinstall my student version of CS5.  I still have discs and serial numbers.  Do I need to uninstall - programs are showing up but obviously won't open- before I re-install.  Will I run into problems like having to re-verify student eligibility, etc.?  Thanks for the help.

If the files are installed but are not working you should probably uninstall and reinstall them.  I don't think you will need to reverify eligibility since that should have been part of your getting the serial numbers in the first place.
I do not know if you will need to reactivate things, but if aso and you run into any problems, you can contact Adobe Support either by chat or via phone when you have serial number and activation issues.

  • Is it possible to get a free student copy of Photoshop?

    Hello,
I have just joined a local camera club and at a meeting the President was offering free copies of Photoshop to members. He said it was a free student version and we could download it from his Boxdrop overnight.
He then said we should not load it onto our computers but should run it from a memory stick.
I said that in my opinion this was illegal as Adobe do not give away Photoshop to students or indeed anyone. As far as I know there is only one member of the club who is a student (still at school).
The club president then said "Well, they gave one to me for free". I suggested that if club members wanted to use free software we should consider Gimp, which is open source and free for anyone to use.
I have now discovered that there is a club meting this week to decide on my expulsion from the club because of my views on what I believed to be piracy.
I was only stating my opinion. Have I done something wrong? I am now wondering if he was telling the truth, although it did seem unlikely to me.
If Adobe did give him the student version of Photoshop for free, would that entitle him to give it away to anyone else? I was concerned that if we accepted his offer we would in some way be breaking the law, and therefore was trying to protect myself and other members.
If someone from Adobe could tell me definitively whether or not they do or did give away Photoshop in this manner, I would be extremely grateful. If I have to go back to the membership and eat humble pie, then so be it.
    Many Thanks
    Tog Porter

It's possible that he has been taken in by a scam on the web. The scam is aimed at claiming that a particular Photoshop ("CS2") is FREE and repeating it often enough that people believe it, and even "reliable" sources repeat the claim.
What actually happened with CS2 is that it stopped working and couldn't be reinstalled. This was because Adobe had turned off the "activation server". Boo!
But then Adobe made a special version of CS2 which didn't need the activation server. Yay!
Now, Adobe didn't want to spend their whole lives sending this to people who were entitled to it. So they put it available for a simple download. People who owned the software could download it and reinstall. Yay!
But, some people saw this and thought - if I can download it and it runs, it must be free. And when they were told this was wrong, that the download was for people who already owned it, then said ***** it and started spreading the rumour that it was free for all. Boo! This gets a boo, because people whose software gets audited - potentially everyone working for a business - is laid open to prosecution and unlimited fines by this lie.

  • How do I install CS6:Design Standard onto my iMac? I already had it on my MacBook Pro and should get 2 downloads with the student version?

I bought the student version of CS6 Design standard 3 years ago and installed it on my MacBook Pro. I now just purchased an iMac and would like to download it onto this as well. I should be able to download it onto two computers from what I understand, but when I insert the disk for download, there is no install.app on the disk any longer. I only see set-up.exe (which is for windows). How can I get the programs downloaded onto my iMac?

  • CS5 Student Version Purchase

I am a student and looking to purchase the Adobe Master Collection.  My school currently only sells the CS4 version.  If I buy the CS4 version now will Adobe grandfather the purchase and allow a free upgrade to CS5 since it has just been launched and we are within about one month of when CS5 should be available on the shelves?  I am just curious what Adobe's grandfather policy is.  Do they have anything similar to Autodesk's subscription plan which allows free upgrades within a year of purchase?  Would something like that be valid for a student purchased version?
    Thanks,
    Brian

One final question.  I just visited the Adobe Student store and noticed that purchasing the CS5 Master version through that site is twice the cost of purchasing the CS4 Master version on my school's site.  The CS4 Master price has stayed the same on my school's site for as long as I can remember (long before the CS5 launch was announced).  I assumed when CS5 came out the price would remain the same since it's not discounted for anything other than being a student version.  Did Adobe increase their student version pricing starting with this CS5 version or is there just a difference between the price through the Adobe Student store versus what you can get through individual schools?

  • Updating student/teacher photoshop cs5 to standard photoshop cs6

Can you update your student/teacher version to a regular version?

There is no difference between the educational version of CS5  and the retail version of CS5 other then the price.  So you should be able to upgrade CS5 to CS6 for the normal upgrade price.  The Upgrade should find your CS5 installed and install the CS6 version when you enter your CS6 upgrade serial number.
