Free tv! The add says, but when I click the link, Itunes opens and it says: nope, not in your country! I'm getting a little bit tired of nothing for the ipod in other countries then the USA. When is europe's turn? No tv, not video, no rentals,nothing! Only music.

Free TV is available in Europe (the United Kingdom part of Europe) using the BBC's iPlayer service.
There's also a fair amount of downloadable (paid) TV shows available through iTunes UK too.
I guess Apple is rolling the services out in the most profitable, popular, or easy-to-get-deals countries first.
It's not in Apple's best interest to deliberately not offer various services in certain countries - the more countries that can buy/rent movies & TV the more money Apple makes.

You cannot make a cellular international call for free just because you have a WiFi connection. However, you can make low cost International calls over WiFi using apps such ase Skype or Google Voice. You can also Facetime to another iPhone, iPad or Mac over WiFi or cellular data; that is free.

4G in Bryan/College Station, TX....Yeah Right

I have been picking up only intermittent 4G signals since yesterday. About half the time when I do, nothing will on the internet will respond and I have to either reboot my Thunderbolt or switch the radio to 3G only and back again. Even then, it is mysteriously dropping to 3G or 1x quite often. Perhaps Verizon should have waited to roll this out here until they got it right.

I have narrowed down the cause.
This error appears if the form to which the confirm validation is applied is inside an if condition that is not met, causing the form not to appear in the html source. It doesn't seem to affect the password validation similarly, just the confirm validation.
Doesn't this have to be bug? I'm not fluent in Javascript, so I'd sure appreciate someone telling my how to work around this.
This is the structure that causes the error to be generated, but only when condition is FALSE. If condition is TRUE, no error is generated.

yea, he has no right to ask you about your personal info. But back to the fact, the alarm seems to sound as what you have showed on youtube, but one thing they should add was the able to play your music as an alarm, just like other ipod. I can't believe they took that out on the touch. Though I haven't tried the alarm yet on the touch.

We rented a movie from Apple TV, had to pause it, accidentally pressed the search button on remote, could not get back into the movie, apple said 'go to settings, downloads, look for the movie', yeah, right, there is no 'downloads' selection under setting

wow, this is taking forever to communicate with anyone, I just want my $4.99 back from the movie rental I paid for. I paid for a rental, we were watching it, had to pause it, accidentally hit 'menu' on the apple remote, tried to get back into the movie, wouldn't let us, apple said ' go to settings, click downloads, select the rented movie from there',( not really a quote, but, close enough). So, we went to 'Settings' on main menu, but, there is no 'downloads' icon....I guess it is true: Do Not Rent from Apple TV'.

You are looking at outdated instructions, you can find the "check the downloads" option under settings > iTunes Store. You may also wish to look on the movies > rentals.

Apple Support - "No Trouble Found" - Yeah right

I bought a new 80 gb ipod video. Have about 10,000 songs on it. The click wheel does not respond smoothly. When I click to shuffle songs I get a 20 second delay. When I navigate through a song list or play list it responds in a jerky way. It won't reset when I go through the motions. I feel it is faulty. They a sending it back saying that no problem was found. Is anyone else experiencing these sort of issues? MY older iPod was very smooth in its click wheel operation, my new one is not. Any ideas would be greatly appreciated. Yes I have already reset the Ipod to factory settings a couple of times.

yeah i've heard about this a few times
i've heard of people having completely faulty ipods and Apple sent them back because the faceplate had a minor scratch on the front. It's like they're finding ways to get around warrenties

A Virus on a Mac??? Yeah right ( I hope!!!)

I have noticed that when I click on my icon to log into the computer, it jitters as it slides into the middle position so that I can type in my password. I'm not sure if I explained that very well. It didn't do that in panther but I have just switched to tiger a month ago. I am wondering if this is a early sign of a virus. Every thing else seems to be okay though.

There are so many different strains of virus (almost all of them specific to Windows systems of course) that there really isn't anything sufficiently common about them that one could readily identify any particular behavior as caused by an infection. There has been malware that allowed external control of a system and where a common symptom was something like the CD tray opening and closing, or the system contiually trying to dial out to premium rate numbers or dashing off to **** sites every time the browser (usually Internet Explorer) was launched, but as often as not, a virus infected system these days exhibits relatively little sign of it - not least because most people who write viruses are more interested in having the infection propogate rather than being spotted by the user.
As and when the first, or first few, viruses hit MacOS, it might be that the author(s) want to make a point of showing that the system is vulnerable to infection and thus make the virus do something blatant (anyone remember the old 'you have been stoned' message, or the flying ping pong dot?!) or it might do nothing obvious, but I wouldn't expect it to be progammed to do something as relatively innocuous and easy to overlook as described here.

Do the "whine free" sacrfice their right to battery life?

A simple thought/question just occurred to me...
Do the MBPs that are supposedly "without whine" still get 3+ hours of battery life? At a basic level, I'm wondering if the non-whiners just never let the processor idle.
I typically get a little over 3 hours when I let mine whine, and about 2:40 or less when I use the mirror widget.

my MBP 17 has zero whine, and the battery life is >3 hrs for light work as expected. i.e. the correlation you're thinking about is most likely anecdotal...
i'm just providing a single data point of course - others will post if they disagree...

ok ,now i def going nuts here! I remembered a couple of years ago i had some troubles with graphic/audio card so i swaped places on em. That time it worked cos all cards were pci only. Prolly something to do with irq. I removed my Creative card and guess what........now my computer runs with all 4 modules in dual ddr mode. Without the acid-trip looking screen!! YEHAAAA. Only one downside, i dont have any sound

If you have free trial on your phon efor 7 days, you need to open in your phone:

This I wrote in the "Nokia E71 and E66 get free navigation, today" thread but it fits this one as well. So here it is. (Yes I know that the 1 year licens is €10 now).
This "news" is really a slap in the face to us N82/N95 owners who also runs S60 3.1.
If Nokia from the very beginning told us that "Sorry folks, if U got an older phone you don´t be able to get the free navigation Ovi Maps" then my reaction would be, ok that´s life.
But when you read things like
Ovi Maps are already available for download for 10 Nokia models, including the popular mini Nokia N97, Nokia 5800 XpressMusic and Nokia E72. More models are expected to be included in the coming weeks.
And everywhere on the Nokia website
-Navigation on your Nokia. For free. Forever
-Mobile navigation for everyone
-All this with only one click. And it's all free.
-Ovi Maps Free navigation on your Nokia.
You really hope that it will be free on your Nokia.
And on top of that the E66 and E71 get the Free navigation (So the limitations could´t be the software S60 3.1). Then I think me and many N82/N95 users are mildly upset.
After used five Nokia phones I don´t planning to buy a new one. Instead of spending €99.99 for 1 year navigation I put the money in a HTC android phone. Then I can spend €25-€30 on a no limit navigation software.

Verizon cheated me out of my free DVR for life deal

So, I guess I should have known better.
Back in February I saw a good re-up offer online for a 2 years FIOS TV/Internet double-play contract so I opened a chat window with a Verizon representative to make sure of all the details BEFORE I did the upgrade.
The Verizon ordering system is a mess. Although I selected the $104.99 plus taxes and fees price, I kept getting a first month estimated bill (got to love the estimated) of $159.71. No way was I going to do that - my non-contract price was only $111.75 per month.
The chat representative assured me that the bill would definitely be the $104.99 I saw and told me THREE times that my free-for-life DVR deal would continue if I signed the 2 year contact. That would give a total of somewhere around $114 a month, just a couple of bucks more than my off-contract price but safe against any price increases. We went through each stage of the order together, confirming everything at every step.
I got the first month's bill. $137.50, with the free DVR-for-Life gone. So today I called Verizon to go through it.
The first call lasted 29m 47s. Operative was pleasant but all he could do was give me a $15 credit for 12 months. Nope that won't cut it. I want my free DVR for life as promised. He refused request after request to escalate but eventually, after being on hold for a long time, he came back on the line and said that they can remove the DVR fee from the bill but he needed to set it up and would call me back.
He did call back. With the news that they could only do the free-DVR for 24 months. No, I want either the free-for-life deal as agreed or I want a $19.99 bill credit for as long as I am a customer. That is what I signed up for. He just kept repeating that there was no way to do that. Okay, put me back on my original plan. No, can't do that either. Time after time he refused to escalate telling me that there was nobody available. Yeah, right....
Then, he started telling me that according to the contract, I had accepted this new price and had accepted that I would lose the free DVR for life deal which naturally I denied and referred him to the chat transcript. He then proceeded to tell me that he did not have access to the transcript AND he did not have email so I couldn't send a copy to him. He suggested I go back to chat and ask there. Time for this call 58m 45s. Such a wonderful way to spend my day...
Back to chat. Surprise.... they don't have access to the chat either - how convenient - and they referred me back to customer service and when I told them I had been there, done that, they referred me to the support forums. So here I am.
All right Verizon, I'm done with the games. I have NEVER been late with a payment, have done the right thing, am the innocent party... GIVE ME WHAT YOU PROMISED!

So, what a BIG surprise... the promised call back from Customer Service that was absolutely, definitely going to happen, even though I expressed my doubt strongly, didn't happen. Same old, same old, eh Verizon?
And the promised contact from this message board didn't happen either. And yes, I checked the spam folder and it isn't there.
