Free upgrade to CS6 from CS5.5?

I purchased CS5.5 in May. I understand there is a free upgrade to CS6 due to purchase date. How do I get it?

There was but I am sorry to say this offer expired as of August 6, 2012.

  • Upgraded to CS6 from CS5.  now both are running?

I just upgraded to CS6 from CS5.  i was told by tech support that i would be prompted to enter my new CS6 serial number to start download and that I would also be prompted to enter my CS5 serial number to activate the upgrade of my existing software.
I followed the installation step by step but I was only prompted to enter my CS6 serial number.
Installation is now complete and I now have both CS5 and CS6 versions that run.
    Is this normal?
Any help would be greatly appreciated.

I too upgraded my CS5 to CS6 today and have the exact same issue (both CS5 & CS6 are active on my computer now). I had a full version of CS5 Design Standard already installed and installed an upgrade to CS6 Design and Web Premium today. Should CS5 be uninstalled or would that interfere with the CS6 upgrade version ?????

  • Can I upgrade to CS6 from CS5.1

I would like to upgrade to a CS6 from CS5.1
Please let me know how this is possible

You should be able to as long as CS6 is for sale where you live.  Select "Buy" in the following page and then choose the upgrade option instead of the Full.

  • Upgrading to CS6 from CS5?

Please help me to see if I understand Adobe's recent upgrade offer correctly...
I currently have Design Premium Suite 5.0 for Mac.
Looking at the CS6 Preordering page, it looks like "Adobe Creative Suite 6 Design & Web Premium" have replaced the former "Design Premium" (i.e. they have "combined the previous Design Premium and Web Premium with a few modifications, but that appears to be the closest to what I have now). If I pre-order this upgrade today from my current Design Premium 5.0, the upgrade cost would be $749.00
However, I am also seeing an offer that if I upgrade right now (before May 6th, 2012) to Design Premium Suite 5.5 the upgrade to 5.5 would cost me $399. That page also states "BUY CS5.5 NOW AND GET CS6 AT NO ADDITIONAL COST, OFFER ENDS MAY 6TH, 2012".
    My question is:
If I purchase the 5.5 Design Premium Upgrade today for $399, when CS6 is released do I get the FREE upgrade to "Adobe Creative Suite 6 Design & Web Premium"? I am unclear as to what CS6 FREE package I would be entitled to since they apparently have combined the Design and Web Suites???
    Thanks!

I went ahead and purchased the CS5.5 Upgrade today - so that is out of the way.
But am I correct that there is no such similar upgrade incentive for a single product like After Effects CS5?
Regarding After Effects "standalone" from what I can tell, my upgrade cost to CS6 would be the same as if I had never upgraded to CS5 (i.e. the upgrade price to CS 6 from CS3 and CS4 is the same as upgrading from CS5) - about $350, but if I upgraded to AECS5.5 then the jump to CS6 would be about $175, but if I upgrade "now" to AECS5.5, it would be $179 + another $175 when AECS6 comes out - is that right? $179 seems like a fair upgrade price from AECS5 to AECS6, but $350 is pretty steep for just one product - especially since 5.5 was not a full incremental jump?

  • How can I upgrade my CS6 from CS5.5 that is tied to another ID?

    Greetings.
I have contacted tech support by phone and chat and neither time did I get the help I needed.
My company bought CS5.5 a few years ago.  The woman that had my job at the time registered that version under her Adobe ID.  I recently purchased CS6 (upgrade-download version) and registered it under my Adobe ID.  When I run the installer and get to the part where I select a previous version, I choose 5.5 and enter the serial #.  It tells me that the serial # is not valid and to choose another.  I contacted support and they told me that they cannot help because the previous version is under another employees ID.
This is not a very effective registration model.  People come and go from jobs all the time, to have them tie a software version to their personal ID is ridiculous.  Look at what has happened to me.  I cannot locate the old employee to get her information and tech support won't do anything.
How am I supposed to activate this software?  Is anybody from Adobe out there reading this?  After 4 phone calls and 2 chat sessions, I have no trust in technical support anymore.
    Please, please advise!

Is the software owned by the company or the employee?  The software should have been registered under a company Adobe ID and not an employee.  It sounds like that serial number is now associated with the employee's own Adobe account and not the company so essentially she owns that serial number.  Your company doesn't sound too efficient when purchasing and managing their own software.
Your IT department should have had control of all software and ID's.  Have you checked with them to see if they have access to that account?  Is it possible the employee took the software with her when she left then installed it on her own computer?  That might be why your serial number no longer works.
Adobe's tech support stinks especially if you ask a question outside of their knowledge and what they have on a script.  They may as well have monkeys answering the phone.  Actually monkeys are easier to understand than the reps are.
Maybe somebody else will come along with a better resolution.  You should return the upgrade of CS6 and may have to either get the CC version or re-purchase the full-price CS6 while it is still available.

First thing's first: ignore Harm and the other PC bigots.
Now that that's over: what do you mean by the "process?"  Purchase the upgrade through Adobe's online store and download the DMG file from them.  Once you have it, install it, and when it asks for the license of your previous version, enter in the CS5.5 one from your Windows box.
Is that what you were looking for?  Or something else?

  • Can I still upgrade to CS6 from CS5.5 without using Cloud or subscriptions?

I'm new to cloud. Do I have to use this or can I still buy a physical disc upgrade of CS5.5 to CS6?

CS6 products are still available for purchase thru Adobe outside of the Cloud.

  • Just upgraded to cs6 from cs5, some weird glitches...

I am noticing some weird glitches and was wondering if it was just happening to me or to many.
Whenever I hover over the "Layers" panel and hover over anything it keep trying to show both, the standard mac hover over link hand and the adobe photoshop standard triangle cursor. It's as if it they keep interering with eachother.
    I have restarted photoshop.
Even restarted my computer, but still have the same products.
It's vary annoying because it also happens even when trying to get rid of Guide Lines, it shows the cursor you get on hover to remove a Guide Line and the photoshop triangle cursor flickers in and out inbetween the two constantly so I don't know if I am going to move a layer or a Guide Line lol.
Any advice would be greatly appreciate!
    Jon

Anything to do with a HUD (heads up Display)?  Sorry, I'm not a Mac user.   Can you upload a screen grab that shows the cursors?

  • Free Upgrade to CS6 with Purchase of CS5.5

In case anyone is considering moving to CS5.5 now would be a good time.
Any CS5.5 purchase now gets a free upgrade to CS6 when it ships.
    Bob

Why not just wait? Or is CS6 likely to cost more?
Pricing is not yet announced for CS6, but if you buy CS5.5 you get to use that while you wait for CS6, and you can take your time moving to CS6 until the first service update is released if you're one of those folks who likes to let other users find the bugs that got missed during testing. There's almost always a bug-fix update in the first 90 days or so.
Another reason not to wait is that if you do any work with other people, they are unlikely to all upgrade to CS6 at the same time.
Since new releases of InDesign cannot directly save old version files, you'll need to export files from CS6 to IDML and run the risk that the export might be imperfect -- if you need to work with other people.
But if you buy CS5.5 now (and get the free upgrade to CS6), then you'll have CS5.5 and you can use it if you need, to when working with others.
    Also:
Are there system requirements listed for CS6? Currently have an iMac i7 running 10.6.8. Thanks for the notification on the upgrade!!!
I can't really imagine a processor as new as a Core i7 would not be supported. You should be fine.
Similarly, there's a huge installed base of Snow Leopard, so that should also be fine.

  • I purchased CS5 -free upgrade to CS6

I purchased CS5 in April of this year... At purchase I was informed I could get a free upgrade to CS6 ... How do I upgrade?

That sounds like an online store.  If so, have you tried logging on to your account, and checking 'My orders'?   I am not sure how the free upgrade would work, and I have a feeling that trying to phone Adobe is going to be a long and frustrating experience.
There are quite a few Google hits HERE

  • I recently bought Photoshop CS5.Am I entitled to free upgrade to CS6 .

I recently bought Photoshop CS5.Am I entitled to free upgrade to CS6
    Magne

The free upgrade offer is for users who purchase(d) CS5.5 Suite or component products through Adobe.com after March 26. Since Photoshop did not have a CS5.5 release (but it did get a 5.1 designation inthe CS5.5 package), I would presume that a purchase of Photoshop CS5.1 on or after March 26 would be eligible. See http://store.adobe.com/store/en_us/popup/offer/cs55_cs6_faq.html
Note that the offer might not be valid outside the US, however. The FAQ says the offer is also valid for purchases at other resellers, but does not seem to provide details about how to get your coupon. If either of those apples to you, you might want to call customer service for your region.

  • Free upgrade to CS6 query.

    Hi
I hope you can make sense of this it was hard to put into words! It might be a silly question!
I have recently purchased CS5.5 Suite Standard. When the free upgrade to CS6 becomes available I understand that you have to enter your credit card details in to purchase/upgrade even though the amount will be £0. My question is do I have to enter the same credit card details as when I purchased CS5.5 for it to work and process the upgrade? Can I use another card? It is a big problem to get the card information from the CS5.5 purchase.
    Regards
    Matthew

That's just my problem. The Adobe account is under my name but the card that purchased the CS5.5 isn't. I want to use my card simply for the upgrade and I don't know if there is going to be some sort of security problem or conflict for using different cards one for CS5.5 and another for the upgrade to CS6? The card that was used for the CS5.5 purchase was a family members which I paid back in cash.

  • Can I upgrade to CS6 from Lightroom 4.2 or Adobe Premier Elements?

Can I upgrade to CS6 from Lightroom 4.2 or Adobe Premier Elements . . . or both?

I know it's a bit late to respond, but wanted to tell you what I think of Adobe's support.
I have bought numerous Adobe products over the years and would have expected a bit more accommodation when wanting to upgrade.  It was not that I'm unwilling to pay the princely sums you ask for your programs, but you could at least give loyal customers some consideration, say a 10% or 15% discount to "upgrade."  Well, since you don't, won't, and will not even consider it, I will never purchase another Adobe product!
I know I'm only a very small drop in the bucket, but I do plan to tell my friends, and they'll probably tell their friends, and so it goes.  You'll probably never even notice it, but I hope that you remember that you have got to treat your customers right and honorably, no matter how little they spend!
