Free Upgrade to CS6 with Purchase of CS5.5

In case anyone is considering moving to CS5.5 now would be a good time.
Any CS5.5 purchase now gets a free upgrade to CS6 when it ships.
Bob

Why not just wait? Or is CS6 likely to cost more?
Pricing is not yet announced for CS6, but if you buy CS5.5 you get to use that while you wait for CS6, and you can take your time moving to CS6 until the first service update is released if you're one of those folks who likes to let other users find the bugs that got missed during testing. There's almost always a bug-fix update in the first 90 days or so.
Another reason not to wait is that if you do any work with other people, they are unlikely to all upgrade to CS6 at the same time.
Since new releases of InDesign cannot directly save old version files, you'll need to export files from CS6 to IDML and run the risk that the export might be imperfect -- if you need to work with other people.
But if you buy CS5.5 now (and get the free upgrade to CS6), then you'll have CS5.5 and you can use it if you need, to when working with others.
Also:
Are there system requirements listed for CS6? Currently have an iMac i7 running 10.6.8. Thanks for the notification on the upgrade!!!
I can't really imagine a processor as new as a Core i7 would not be supported. You should be fine.
Similarly, there's a huge installed base of Snow Leopard, so that should also be fine.

  • I purchased CS5 -free upgrade to CS6

I purchased CS5 in April of this year... At purchase I was informed I could get a free upgrade to CS6 ... How do I upgrade?

That sounds like an online store.  If so, have you tried logging on to your account, and checking 'My orders'?   I am not sure how the free upgrade would work, and I have a feeling that trying to phone Adobe is going to be a long and frustrating experience.

  • Free upgrade to CS6 from CS5.5?

There was but I am sorry to say this offer expired as of August 6, 2012.

I recently bought Photoshop CS5.Am I entitled to free upgrade to CS6

The free upgrade offer is for users who purchase(d) CS5.5 Suite or component products through Adobe.com after March 26. Since Photoshop did not have a CS5.5 release (but it did get a 5.1 designation inthe CS5.5 package), I would presume that a purchase of Photoshop CS5.1 on or after March 26 would be eligible. See http://store.adobe.com/store/en_us/popup/offer/cs55_cs6_faq.html
Note that the offer might not be valid outside the US, however. The FAQ says the offer is also valid for purchases at other resellers, but does not seem to provide details about how to get your coupon. If either of those apples to you, you might want to call customer service for your region.

  • Free upgrade to CS6 query.

    Hi
I hope you can make sense of this it was hard to put into words! It might be a silly question!
I have recently purchased CS5.5 Suite Standard. When the free upgrade to CS6 becomes available I understand that you have to enter your credit card details in to purchase/upgrade even though the amount will be £0. My question is do I have to enter the same credit card details as when I purchased CS5.5 for it to work and process the upgrade? Can I use another card? It is a big problem to get the card information from the CS5.5 purchase.
    Regards
    Matthew

That's just my problem. The Adobe account is under my name but the card that purchased the CS5.5 isn't. I want to use my card simply for the upgrade and I don't know if there is going to be some sort of security problem or conflict for using different cards one for CS5.5 and another for the upgrade to CS6? The card that was used for the CS5.5 purchase was a family members which I paid back in cash.

  • No free upgrade for Logic 7 purchased 2 weeks ago (august 27)

I purchased Logic Express 7 on August 27 (16 days ago). I just contacted the apple store via online chat, and here is the transcript. I'm feeling seriously ripped off at the moment.
    * You are chatting with Caissa, an Apple Expert
Hi, my name is Caissa. Welcome to Apple!
    Caissa: Good evening
Caissa: How may I help you today?
    You: Hi.
You: I purchased Logic Express 7 on August 27, and Logic Express 8 just came out.
You: It would be most distressing if I don't get a free upgrade.
You: How do I get my upgrade to logic express 8?
Caissa: At this time there is no free upgrade available.
Caissa: You would need to purchase the new suite.
    You: That is terrible.
You: As a new apple user, I must register my deepest dissatisfaction.
    Caissa: Sorry to hear that.
    *

Today I summoned the zen patience to call Apple and complain, and they did help me. I explained that not only had I bought LE7 since 8/1, I had also bought my first mac since 8/1. Although I had to wait on hold for 15 minutes for Applecare, and then get transferred to "customer care" (another 7 minutes on hold), they agreed to send me the upgrade for free. I didn't get a refund of the price difference (perhaps I should have asked; that was not offered). I'm prepared to write off the "overpayment", since I'm not being charged for the upgrade.
FYI, one thing that they seem to have taken seriously, besides the above -- I was experiencing frequent system hangs (screeen grays out a bit and says to hold down the power button a few seconds to kill the system). Apparently the stability problems I was having with LE7 are known to Apple. This angle might work for customers who bought long before the new release...
Thanks for the friendly suggestions. I hope this may help somebody else avoid feeling ripped off. The "stop whining" crowd, though that position is not entirely without merit, can still bite me ;-p

  • Will CS5 owners get a free upgrade to CS6?

It would be sweet, but it's probabbly not happening. Does anyone know?

Here is a link to the upgrade policy after announcements. If you purchaced CS5 quite some time ago, you're probably out of luck.

  • General Beef with Purchasing Photoshop (CS5)

I have a beef regarding Adobe and Photoshop, we are all quite aware that Photoshop is the most illegal downloaded program.  Adobe is not very friendly when it comes to first time orders of Photoshop, you would think that for first time orders of Photoshop Adobe would offer anything like $200.00 back or the next version of Photoshop you can upgrade free there is no incentive to buy the program.
I know that you don't have to upgrade to every version you can get away with skipping one, two or even three versions of the software before you should upgrade if used quite often.  Then there is Elements but what if someone wants the full Photoshop not a slimmed down version of Photoshop ? There left to buy Elements because it's cheaper and when they have to upgrade it usually is just another $100, therefore after upgrading Elements every year for three years you've only spent about $300-$400 rather then $1,500 for Photoshop over three years, including two upgrades and that is going by the assumtion you upgrade each year for three years but in reality most don't as mentioned.
I wanted to write this up becaue it is a concern that Adobe should be aware of that I'm sure many would buy the Software like you or I have, whether it was used or new especially when new.

Well, unfortunately, we are 99.9% users here. The few Adobe Employees are engineers, and not in marketing/sales and are very busy with their "day jobs." I would strongly suggest that you use the Contact link at the top of each page, to get in touch with Adobe directly and tell them how you fee.
Also, most of the people here are either professionals, earning part of our living with Photoshop, or are serious hobbyists, who feel that Photoshop is the best possible program for them.
Many of us also own extensive Adobe suites, so upgrading is probably about 4 - 5x as expensive as it would be for a user with just a single PS license. For us, it is a cost of business.
I do agree that one does not need every upgrade version. I started with 2.5 and got them all, until 5.5, which I felt that I did not need. After that, it was every version through CS2. From there, I held off, because I needed to justify a new PrPro, AI and AE. It looks like I will jump from CS2 to CS5, missing CS3 & 4. Never missed two versions of any Adobe program, since I went from about AI 2 to 4, but that was decades ago.
While I would not mind Adobe offering me free, or cheap stuff, I do not expect that. Though I have been a loyal client for most of their products for decades, it would be neat, but I do not expect it. It' like my Toyota Landcruisers - been an owner since the early '80s, and have had a string of 'em. Toyota has never called, offering me a free Landcruiser. Now, I do not upgrade those, like I have with PS, but have not had a need.
Let us know what Adobe Sales/Marketing has to say. Maybe if you make your point well, then they will give us all free, or cheap copies of PS?
    Good luck,
    Hunt

  • Just upgraded to 10.9. was hoping it would fix the bugs in the last system.  now my Epson scanner won't work.  Downloaded their newest software.  No go with the new OSX. Why would Apple roll out a new free upgrade that interferes with Epson?

Just downloaded OS 10.9.  hoped it would fix bugs from the last version.  now I can't use my Epson perfection 4870 scanner. Cehcked with Epson. They say the software is an Apple update.  checked with Apple-No Go.
For now my Scanner just won't work.  I'm surprised Apple would introduce new OS material -free- which compromises a good vendor like Epson.

    nope, Barney.
My issue is   a large amount of money spent over many years on computers for my company, myself, wife and sons. Got an investment here
The company I favor, Apple sent me a message that they have a wonderful new Maverick operating system.
I send documents back and forth to friends and people to do business. Hoped maverick would fix the bugs  from Leopard.
With Maverick system, my main document sender, Epson perfection 4870 and its software doesn't work anymore, or so it seems to me.
Checked with Apple, very apologetic, they can't help, maybe it will be fixed in a couple of days...
    Epson, referred me to Apple...
    I still ccouldn't send documents.
Until my buddy Macjack pointed out the obvious- Image capture does the job. Thanks very much,MJ
I didn't know that- not in the Apple help area, can't find it in their manual, their help line couldn't give me a clue to something as obvious as this
So, lot of money over the years. Plenty of smart, well compensated folks writin code at both companies.  I can't keep up with tit all, they don't keep up with each other.
Bottom line Apple releases a product  that doesn't work well for a lot of little people like me.  Maybe some clear expanation would help re:Macjack..
I certainly don't understand all the ins and outs of a zillion dollar computer behemoth business model.  Do know this though, If I ran my business like this customers would go somewhere else and some would probably sue me.
    Thank you

  • Upgrade to ios6 requires purchase of storage

Whay after upgrade to ios6 do i need to purchase icloud storage?  I have room according to the cloud of 1 gb for a total of 4gb used?

  • Why should I pay for upgrade to CS6 twice?

    Dear Adobe,
I upgraded from photoshop CS3 to Photoshop CS5 last November as you said we will be not able to upgrade from CS3 to CS6 directly anymore. And now, you changed your mind and users are still able to upgrade from older versions. If I would wait couple of months like others I would pay only once. Please, would you try to explain your business strategy? How should we trust you are not going to change your mind and rules every month?
    Thank you for your explanation.
    Kind regards,
    Filip Zamorsky

And...Add my name to the list. I began another thread but I was told about this one. It's the same story as you all, I'm just not going to be ignored by customer service. Adobe caused the problem, Adobe should fix it.
Has anybody found a magic way to get customer service help? I have been waiting since last Tuesday for my problem to be resolved and I've been getting absolutely no understanding or willingness to take ownership of my problem.  I have chatted online with 8 different people. Each time making painstaking attemts to explain the situation as being different than the "free upgrade" window that is posted on adobe.com.
    Here is the situation.
Adobe said that we MUST upgrade to CS5 in order to upgrade to CS6.
In February, I upgraded from CS4 to CS5 based on item 1.
I went online last week to upgrade to CS6 from CS5 when I saw that I didn't have to spend the money to upgrade from CS4 to CS5 afterall.
Based on that, I feel I should be able to upgrade to CS6 without having to pay an addition $199.00.
Adobe said I had to upgrade so I did. That cost me $199.00 three months ago.
Now Adobe wants me to spend another $199.00 to get CS6.
I will not do that. I wouldn't have spent the first $199.00 if Adobe hadn't said it was necessary. It wasn't necessary afterall so I shouldn't be penalized for believing Adobe.
This is like the guy who's told he has a week to live so he gives away all of his earthly belongings. Then the doctor tells him he didn't mean it.
Now, On Wednesday, I got my request elevated to "concern group". They will contact me within 72 hours. That must be 72 business hours because I have not been concated.
So, Monday, I had to go through the entire scenerio for the umteenth time and again was assured the "concern group" would contact me withing 24 hours. I didn't believe the rep, based on my previous lack of contact and asked how I can contact the "concern group" myself so I don't have to go through this entire process again. The "concern group" is offline, no way to contact them but "I ASSURE YOU" you will hear from them withing 24 hours. Well, 48 hours later, I'm totally in a very hateful mood. I opened another chat session and rather than submitting that person on the other end to my venom, I just pasted my chat from Monday and said goodbye. Of couse, it's not going to do any good either.
I saw a message board online yesterday, and today I can't find it, where people in my same situation received their upgrade to CS6 with no addition cost.
I know it's being done but Customer service is so...aggravating that I believe it's a way to make people just give up and go away. Not this time.

  • Free Upgrade

I upgraded from Logic 5 Platinum to Logic 7.2 two and a half weeks ago when I switched to the iMac from being a PC user for all these years. I paid $299 for the upgrade. Today the upgrade is $199. I am hoping that the free upgrade for those that purchased on or after 8/1/07 applies to those that upgraded to Logic 7.2 first of all. Second, I am feeling a bit burnt on the $100 price difference. I can get over that but the kicker is that according to the free upgrade page, we have to wait until 9/26/07 for more information on obtaining the free upgrade. What is with the wait?

Thanks. Yeah, I had read the site and it seemed a bit unclear as to if those that purchased the 7.2 upgrade could get the free Studio upgrade. I am going to go by my local Apple store tonight where I bought it from two and a half weeks ago and see if an upgrade can be expedited or something.
    Thanks

  • Upgrading Photoshop CS6 using the cloud.

Every time I try to upgrade Photoshop CS6 with the cloud I get error U44MIP7. Then after a few weeks it upgrades ok. Any ideas? I don't think Adobe is really ready to prime time on the cloud yet.

It appears the 13.0.1.2 update is the problem.
Here is a summary of the fix:
    1) UNinstall Photoshop (no need to uninstall anything else in CS6)
    2) Reboot your computer (just to make sure nothing is hanging around in memory)
    3) Install Photoshop and immediately quit the Creative Cloud app
    4) Run photoshop
    5) Go to HELP > UPDATES
    6) EXPAND the update group and UNselect the 13.0.1.2 update
    7) Apply the 13.1.2 update
