Freefloating urls appear on screen
I've been unable to figure out why these appear occasionally: a url from a page I've visited, in a small rectangle with a light yellow background. They are fixed on the screen so I have to move what is underneath to see things. They appear in all apps, once they occur, but I assume they start in Safari so that is why I am posting here.
What causes them, and how (other than restarting) might I banish them?

Thanks for this suggestion. I've done the Reset Safari procedure and now will wait to see if the floating urls occur.
I have taken to Emptying the Cache frequently, because the amount of memory used by Safari seems to increase dramatically and that helps a little, 10 - 20 MB. I hadn't considered whether this "memory leak" might be due to a 3rd party plugin; the only ones I use, to my knowledge, are Xippee (after your response, I just removed this one), and Glims, which I really value. But the floating urls long preceded Glims. Everything else in the Library/Internet Plugins folder looks mainstream, Apple and Adope flash.
Can you shed any light on this increase in memory usage? I do usually have 5 or 6 pages open, with a total of 20 - 25 tabs, but when I quit and reopen with all the same tabs open the memory usage will typically go down by 200 MB, sometimes more as shown by iStatPro, (and this is after I have done Empty Cache).

Every time I try to use bookmarks It takes several attempts. Even if I wait till the URL appears I still get what is behind that selection( Fox news story normally) It takes as many as 5-6 attempts to get the bookmark selection to work. Its not transparent. It just does not work. I have the latest updates. This started about 2 months ago and is getting worse. I have cleared every thing I could to try to correct it. HELP!

I open iWeb but the main window doesn't open/appear on screen. The little windows like the inspector and font windows appear. Can anyone help?
Try the following:
1 - delete the iWeb preference file, com.apple.iWeb.plist, that resides in your
User/Home/Library/ Preferences folder.
2 - delete iWeb's cache file, Cache.db, that is located in your
User/Home/Library/Caches/com.apple.iWeb folder (Snow Leopard and Earlier).
3 - launch iWeb and try again.
NOTE: In Lion and Mountain Lion the Library folder is now invisible. To make it permanently visible enter the following in the Terminal application window: chflags nohidden ~/Library and hit the Enter button - 10.7: Un-hide the User Library folder.

Ok so I have tried evey combination of restarts. It tries to boot up, the start up bar appears on screen, but the computer just goes completely after the bar is a third of the way across. Is is doomed?
Have you tried booting into the Recovery HD and running Disk Utility to see if anything needs fixing on the HD. Restart holding down Command+r and once it hopefully boots select Disk Utility>Repair Disk. If anything gets fixed click on repair disk again until you get a clean pass. Try restarting as normal from the Apple menu once done.
Do you have backup to restore from if it proves to be the Mac has a hardware fault? -
my iPhone 4 is no longer chargeable. Whenever I connect it to the charge, the charging icon appears on screen but even if I leave it for a night on charge the charge icon will remain on the screen but there will be zero percent of battery. I tried five different charges and plugs [ one in the apple store], same result. Any suggestions please?

In safari browser cookies is working fine. But when I add the browser url to the screen then the cookies concept is not working. In safari setting cookies is always open only. Can you please provide any information regarding to this?

Hi When going from Develop module to print module a white boarder appears on screen which also prints via my epson r3000 printer. I can get round this by exporting photo to Elements and printing from there but can i get rid of the boarder and print from lightroom?
In the printer driver (accessed through the Page Setup button) set the Advanced tab to borderless. Then in the right hand panel under Layout set all the margins to zero.

I had originally assigned images to my contacts through my iPhone which made them appear full screen when recieving/making a call, but now I want the images to appear in the top-right corner. I've assigned all new photos to override the old photos through my Address Book on my Mac, but they still continue to be full screen. Can anybody please explain to me what's going on? I'm an intermediate-advanced user. Thanks!
You did not try what I provided. There is a difference between syncing and replacing.
As with MobileMe, there should be an option with iCloud to replace info on cloud with what is available in the Address Book - all at once. This may not make any difference in this regard. -

Reinstalling Lion Without Erasing the Drive
Boot to the Recovery HD: Restart the computer and after the chime press and hold down the COMMAND and R keys until the menu screen appears. Alternatively, restart the computer and after the chime press and hold down the OPTION key until the boot manager screen appears. Select the Recovery HD and click on the downward pointing arrow button.
Repair the Hard Drive and Permissions: Upon startup select Disk Utility from the main menu. Repair the Hard Drive and Permissions as follows.
When the recovery menu appears select Disk Utility. After DU loads select your hard drive entry (mfgr.'s ID and drive size) from the the left side list. In the DU status area you will see an entry for the S.M.A.R.T. status of the hard drive. If it does not say "Verified" then the hard drive is failing or failed. (SMART status is not reported on external Firewire or USB drives.) If the drive is "Verified" then select your OS X volume from the list on the left (sub-entry below the drive entry,) click on the First Aid tab, then click on the Repair Disk button. If DU reports any errors that have been fixed, then re-run Repair Disk until no errors are reported. If no errors are reported click on the Repair Permissions button. Wait until the operation completes, then quit DU and return to the main menu.
Reinstall Lion: Select Reinstall Lion and click on the Continue button.
Note: You can also re-download the Lion installer by opening the App Store application. Hold down the OPTION key and click on the Purchases icon in the toolbar. Conversation does not appear on screen
One particular instant messaging conversation does not appear on screen. I am notified when a new message is sent to me, and when I hover over the Skype icon on the Windows toolbar I can see the icon for the conversation window, but the conversation itself does not appear. All other conversations appear just fine. It happens to be a running conversation with my boss, so I really would like to fix it. Currently when I get a message in this conversation I have to use Skype on my phone to participate in the conversation, but it is much faster to type on my computer keyboard than on my phone. Thanks for your help.
Computer clock time is correct. No, it hasn't been wrong, or at least I have never had to reset the time, it's always been correct. This is the only conversation this is happening with. It's still happening. I have to go to my phone to message in this particular conversation. My boss was on leave for awhile and so this conversation was inactive for a couple of months. It was working fine before she left. One more piece of info ... I used to have two monitors, now I'm using only one. But switching to one monitor didn't affect any of the other conversations I participate in.

IOS7 upgrade has ruined messaging, huge delay in typing before characters appear in screen on iPhone 4. Anyone else experiencing this?

I'll type but there is a long lag time before the text appears on screen.
This seems to have started after upgrading to Mavericks and is most noticeable in Apple Mail.
Any tips as to how to diagnose and fix?

Thank you.I had a very similar problem. No matter where I typed (Word, Apple Mail, online, etc.) I would get a typing lag. I did all the self diagnostics, repair disk, hardware test, PRAM reset, etc. Still had the problem. Even my mouse was lagging when i moved it. I took it to the Genius Bar and they did a hardware check and it did not reveal any problems. The tech said it still may be a hard drive or memory problem. They reformatted the hard drive and did a clean install of mavericks. I moved a few items from my time machine back up and the problem started to occur again. I reinstalled my old RAM, still had the problem.
I had wanted to upgrade to a Solid State Drive (SSD), so I purchased a Samsung EVO 500 GB SSD. As I was cloning the new hard drive, I noticed the problem wasn't occurring anymore. So I suspect it was the hard drive starting and stopping that was causing the problem. During the cloning process the installed drive was constantly spinning, therefore not starting and stopping. I've installed the new SSD and in addition to the lag problem going away, my Macbook is wicked fast!

How do I make URLs appear when FF opens @ a site?
In the address/URL bar, when I open any desktop link/shortcut or open a website link in to a new window, or tab, there is no address showing. I have to be at the website, then click any internal link, and the URL appears.
Process:
FF is default browser.
I have shortcuts on the desktop (example: http://www.bing.com) or another (example anyplace.com).
FF is set to start at bing.com. When opening FF, it opens Bing.com, but there is only "Search or enter address" in the URL.- not the url FF is at.
Same thing with any link - pages have to URL in the address bar.
I keep FF updated.

Phone is in lock mode when calls comes we will decline the same by double click the power button, But same call number R contact is not appearing in screen to call back them, & Aslo now it is very very slow.. Kindly Help the same.. )So then this means your Energy Saver preferences are corrupted somewhere. I would at least backup your data in case something else gets corrupted by a damaged directory, or the hard drive is beginning to show signs of its dying, or you find you might later need to repair your directory. Regardless, I wouldn't update your software until you find out why your Energy Saver doesn't work properly with the only third party item being a display.
