FREETALK Connect-Me phone adapter discontinued

I noticed today that the FREETALK Connect-Me phone adapter has been discontinued. Is there a replacement solution? My device has been working great for several years and I use it all the time for connecting my home phones to skype.

That's always a possibility.  However I'm not aware of it being discontinued by the manufacturer.  You can generally buy it from the Freetalk site (http://freetalk.me/). Occasionally I've seen it disappear from the site (like now) when they are out of stock, then reappear again.  It's also available on Amazon and Ebay.
Some people have used the Soundwin SP110, but there have been a lot of stability/quality issues with that device.  http://www.soundwin.com/style/frame/templates3a/product_detail.asp?lang=2&customer_id=824&name_id=40...

  • Help Connect me phone adapter cannot detect phon...

    Hi there,
I recently bought Freetalk Connect Me phone adapter through Skype website. When I hook up phone line, ethernet and wall line as instructed, the setup wizard successfully detect my internect connection. However, it cannot detect my wireless phone. I tried another wireless phone but it failed again. I try to replace my existing voip to skype so I'm pretty sure my phone works well. During the initial setup, I saw the red light goes to flashing green light while trying to detect my phone....then it goes to red and repeat again.
Does anyone have this problem before? I try to locate Freetalk customer service number, but they don't have one.

  • Freetalk ConnectMe Skype Phone Adapter

I'm in the UK and received my product this week.
The current firmware is 1.0.5.5 and I'm judging from the other posts that the latest should be 1.0.5.6 although this still seems to suffer from numerous minor issues.
Despite having the download time changed, and being reset, I still haven't been able to get my device to upgrade to the latest firmware.  I have tried contacting support by as others have found there certainly is no response in the target 24 hours, I'm past 48 hours and waiting.
Does anyone have any advise?  Does anyone have any information about the next expected firmware release date?
It would be really helpful if Freetalk were to publish the latest firmware version number on their support pages.
    Comments appreciated.

I answered a similar question like this before.  You can view the thread here:

My device has not updated higher than 1.0.8.0.  There is a possibility that there may be different releases in different regions or sub versions of the FreeTalk Connect Me device.  So a newer release may not exist in your area or for your box, as of yet.  Only FreeTalk support would know for sure.  I live on the west coast in the US and my updates pulled from a webserver in Texas.  I'm not fond of the update procedure, but it is what it is.

  • The FREETALK Connect•Me Home Phone Adapter for Sky...

    Hi all,
I am seriously considering dropping my landline since I mostly if not only uses my iPhone as my primary device for calls. The problem I have is an alarm system is connected to my land line and requires a way to call the alarm centre in case of an emergency.
I talk to my alarm service provider for an alternative. They already have the cellular option, but it adds $12/m which is not a big saving... They are working on finding an IP/Internet solution, but it will be also a $4/m.
I was wondering if I could use the FREETALK Connect•Me Home Phone Adapter for Skype as a solution. From a computer I can call any 1-800 numbers for free, and I really suspect that the alarm centre is a toll free number too. So in theory it could work.
Can anyone share their experience with the device and suggest if my solution can work or not?
    Thanks

I use that adapter in my house, it works just as a normal landline would.  There is a slightly longer predial delay when initiating a call (approx 3 second Skype dialing noise), beyond that no real difference.  If the box doesn't lock up, or your Internet doesn't go down it should be rather reliable as a replacement.  Those are worst-case scenarios and I generally don't find myself having to do anything to maintain it.  In any case I have it connected to a power surge strip like I do the rest of my equipment.  Should I need to reset it, I just toggle the switch.

  • Can I use the FREETalk phone adapter without a lan...

I have disconnected my landline service.  Can I receive skype call to my regular cordless phone handset with a FREETalk phone adapter and a Skype online number?
    Thanks in advance any help.

This is actually a really old thread.  The FreeTalk Connect Me can be used without a landline.  If you chose to use a landline for emergency purposes, there is nothing inherent to the device to filter local calls.
I was getting spammed on my local loop "Emergency line", after being told by my "no longer local telco" L2/L3 techs that receiving calls were impossible because I don't use their service.  I ended up rerouting my connection to a separate phoneline  that rings all hours of the night.  Setting my extra phone to "never ring" fixes that.  So now I have an active "never-ring" outbound emergency line.

  • FREETALK Phone Adapter Help

Can I use a FREETALK Phone Adapter with a online number without a landline? I've got a DSL internet connection*Virgin Meida Internet*

    Dear Greatbritton2k1,
The FREETALK® Connect•Me adapter will allow you to receive calls from your SkypeIn online number as well as your land line number (there is no need to change it if you already have one). All that is required is a regular home phone (not a land line connection, but the actual phone set) and internet connection. You will also be able to make calls using your Skype Credit/Subscription. You will also be able to receive and make calls when the computer is off.
    Hope you found this helpful!
    Best regards,

  • Phone attached to Freetalk Connect Me device rings...

Is my device faulty? I purchased a FreeTalk Connect Me about two months ago. No matter what phone I attach, it rings for no reason every 10 minutes or so. This behavior didn't seem to occur when I was only using it as a Skype phone, but apparently may have started when I added my "landline" -- which is voip. Is there an incompatibility? If so, this isn't mentioned anywhere in any documentation.

    Hi OBTonyD,
You had submitted support ticket MALEQ to eBuyNow support yesterday and have been repied to asking you for more information so that you may be assisted with your Freetalk Connect.Me.

  • Freetalk Connect•Me adapter

    Hi,
I'm interested in how the adapter works. I tried looking for reviews and setup guides to no avail.
From my understanding, the adapter gives a regular phone the ability to be used on Skype. However I have a few questions regarding the adapter.
    1. If you're only using a phone with a regular adapter, how do you dial your Skype contacts?
    2. Will I still be able to connect my phone to a regular landline along with the adapter?
    Solved!
    Go to Solution.

I am looking into skype as my home phone.
1.) Does your home computer have to be on all the time if you utilize this adapter?
2.) If I understand, a normal home phone will work with this adapter?
    Thanks,
    Dan

  • Trouble w/Linksys WRT54G2 connecting w/Linksys Phone Adapter SPA2102

I am trying to connect my new VOIP phone adapter Linksys SPA2102 with my wireless router Linksys Cisco #WRT54G2 V1.  I have DSL and previously had the wireless router connected with a Vonage Phone Adapter and everything worked fine.  When trying to connect my new phone adapter Linksys(SPA2102) it does not work.  It will work if I connect the new adapter directly with my DSL modem but will not work through my wireless router (WRT54G2 v1).  I have turned everything off and restarted all products several times along with the PC and still no luck.  The only way I can get my DSL to work with the new adapter is to wire it directly to the DSL modem.  Everything worked yesterday prior to trying to use the new phone adapter.  I hope this makes sense lol.  This is not allowing me to use my laptop through the wireless router.  Any help would be greatly appreciated.  Thank you.
    Jenny

you should try this -- it shows you how to configure wrt54g2 behind the SPA2102 because it is recommended that you put the SPA2102 directly behind modem for better voice quality

    Hi,
Not sure if this question is right but can I use the SPA112 2-Port Phone Adapter to connect a PSTN line?  What I want is, I should be able to choose a line and while making calls.  Use PSTN or VOIP.
Please let me know if I am using a wrong device for my purpose.

No, it cannot, that device has FXS ports, no FXO ports
Includes two standard telephone ports, each with an independent phone number, for use with fax machines or analog phone devices

  • "FREETALK Phone Adapter (TALK-1203) + Unlimited US...

I am looking at an accessory that will allow me connect to my skype account using this device and connect my home phone to use through Skype.
The link to this accessory is as follows:
    http://shop.skype.com/phones/phone-adapters/connect-me-nau/
It states "US / Canada customers only. Enjoy convenient, free Skype-to-Skype calls and low-cost Skype calls from your home phone — plus a year of unlimited* calls to the US and Canada and up to 200** international minutes."  So it would seem that a 12 month service of Skype to telephone calls within USA and Canada is included, as well as 200 international minutes.
Further down in the product description it states:
    "Can I receive calls?
Yes, if someone calls you, your home phone will ring and you can answer as normal."
My question is, does this also include skype-in along with the package, so I would be able to make unlimited calls, and receive unlimited incoming calls through my existing skype-in number if I purchased this device, or is it only Skype-out service that comes with the device?
    Thank you.

    Hi Euph0ria74,
In order to receive calls from regular phone numbers using Skype, you will need a SkypeIn/Online number. That is not included along with your Freetalk Connect.Me purchase.
To get more details on Skype In numbers, please take a look at Skype's: http://www.skype.com/intl/en-us/features/allfeatures/online-number/

  • Premium Subscription & Phone Adapter

    Hi,
Will an existing Premium subscription allow use of the Skype Phone Adapter to make unlimited calls to US/Canada?
    Thanks,
    Ron

    You are very welcome.
Skype phone adapters, such as the FreeTalk Connect Me, will support the audio, calling services that are assigned to that Skype name. Minus call transfer, and there is no call waiting as well.
The 3 and 12 month versions of Premium include the Unlimited USA/Canada Plan. IF you reside in the U.S./Canada: http://www.skype.com/intl/en-us/prices/premium/

  • Skype Phone/Adapter Recommendations? (disregarding...

I am looking for recommendations for a Skype Adapter or Phone, other than the ConnectMe from Freetalk. On a separate thread I plan on documenting my woes with the Freetalk ConnectMe once the dust settles.
My desire: A device (I'll refer to it as an adapter) that connects to home network via RJ45 or wireless, that has an output RJ8 connection that can plug into existing telephone system (Panasonic base station with wireless handsets). This device provides Skype telephone service for outgoing and incoming phone calls without the need of a connection to a running computer at all times.
An alternate solution would be a Skype phone system that connects directly to the home network (not to a computer running Skype).
There seem to be a pile of old solutions. A couple of hours of research points to a bunch of poorly reviewed solutions, all of which seem to be 3-5 years old.

You can try using the adapter I mentioned here.
    http://community.skype.com/t5/Windows-desktop-client/Problem-Phone-keeps-ringing-after-call-answered...
It still works with Skype 6.21 and has physically outlasted all the Freetalk Connect Me devices I have purchased.  The only Freetalk Connect Me that has survived many years is one that I own on 1.0 firmware that has yet to fail or update and Freetalks support was pretty much "too bad, so sad".  Which really doesn't bother me since it actually still works yet has no Caller ID.  This also leads me to believe the majortity of Freetalk Connect Me failures are software failures due to faulty firmware, updates, or power spikes and they offer no means of restoring the device in a hosed stated other than suggesting you buy a replacement which will of course have the same failure rate as the one before it.
I wish the B2K device was a standalone.  It  sort of can be if you dedicate an inexpensive computer/netbook to it.  If it continues to operate in future releases of Skype then it may be a wise investment.  There should also be less of an issue with audio protocol negotiation with the newer releases that the Freetalk has issues with on Skype to Skype calls.
