Freeview signal poor quality or too low level

Yesterday I tried to order a new YouView box to replace my Silver Vision box. Hopefully it will arrive soon.
Meanwhile I switched my box on for the first time for a few days and was met with the message in the heading.
That's rather strange as I have my TV connected via the Vision box and the TV reports a very good signal level. I have tried powering down and also what I understand to be the factory reset all with no improvement.
Has anyone else experienced this or got an answer to it?

Hi VLT,
Thanks for posting. Are you still having problems? Take a look here for help with free view issues.

  • Airport signal strength seems way too low...possible for antenna to break?

    Hi,
I have a 17" aluminum Powerbook 1.33Ghz that came with built in Airport. I use it on wireless networks both at home and at work. In recent weeks, it's seemed like my connection drops a lot or I have a hard time getting a solid signal.
Right now at work I'm sitting about 15 feet and through a sheetrock wall from a Cisco Aironet 1200 wireless access point, which I understand to be a quality item...MacStumbler is showing a signal strength in the low 20s, but can sometimes jump up to around 50. It seems like the Airport menubar icon used to always show full strength at work, but lately usually shows 2-3 bars.
At home I get a signal strength in the 30s when parked right next to my Airport Extreme, and have trouble losing connection in other parts of the house. An older Powerbook one floor above gets a signal strength in the 60s.
    I'm considering the following options:
    (a) Take Powerbook apart and see if the antenna has somehow become detached from the Airport card.
    (b) Buy an upgraded antenna for the Powerbook from QuickerTek.com
    (c) Open an AppleCare ticket, but I hate to send the PB to Texas even for a few days.
or is there something else I should be doing? or is this normal?

From reading your post it sounds like Interference.
In a commercial building you will find that the Metal Studs used in the construction, will and can Interfere, not to mention Metal Bookcases. Just about anything metal.
    http://www.wi-fiplanet.com/tutorials/article.php/1497111
    Note the 3rd paragrapgh
This of course doesn't rule out that you could have a loose Antenna connection, or your Airport Extreme Card could have become unseated, or loose as well.
Remember the use of microwave, wireless phones and any number of other things can cause Interference.
    Cheers Don

  • Losing freeview signal

Up to now, I have enjoyed a strong signal getting all the freeview channels. But, I switched my vision box on , and a error message said, "Freeview Signal Poor Quality or too low level". I'm not too sure what is going on here, is it the fault of my vision box, or is it the fault of my ariel. Anybody else had this as well.

It is usually a fault with the aerial
check that it hasn't moved position and check all the connections are OK including any signal booster being used
no trees were harmed in the sending of this message but millions of electrons were terribly inconvenienced

  • How do I know if my image resolution is too low now that the yellow triangle warning is gone?

I am creating a book in iPhoto 11 for the first time. In older versions, I would get a yellow triangle indicating my image quality was too low for that size image. Based on other threads, it looks like iPhoto no longer gives the warning. What is the best way to know if the image will print okay? Is there a workaround so I can check the quality of the image prior to printing out the book?

I noticed that there's not resolution waring also.  Create a PDF file of the book and look at the pages at full sized with Preview and determine if the photos are sharp enough for you.
I ran a test with two images, one 4000 x 3000 pixels and the other 230 x 200 pixels in a 2 photo per page book page and then created a pdf of the book, Modern Lines theme.  This is a screenshot of  the page in Preview at View ➙ View Full Sized:
This screenshot is of the same photo in a different 2 photo per page layout in the same theme.  It does look more like I expected:
Right click on the image and select Show in New Window from the Contextual menu.  I'm really surprised the first example of the small image looked as good as it did. I expected a very pixelated image like the second example but iPhoto upsized it rather nicely. So iPhoto can upsize a small photo to some degree but I don't recommend relying on it for such small images.   And it is a very, very, very small image.  Soif your image is reasonably large you should be OK.  But check it in the PDF file.

  • Freeview signal too low

    Hi all,
Just moved home and have installed all put BT vision equipment only to get the dreaded "signal too low" message on screen. I checked our signal levels on the signal strength checker on the BT vision and every single channel seems to have 0 signal strength?! Does anyone think I have configured something wrongly? I have tried getting signal through our inbuilt freeview on the TV, again with no success.
We live in a very rural, hilly area with many trees.. Wondering if this is perhaps the problem?! Although I checked out postcode on the BT vision coverage checker and we were firmly included.
Any help greatly appreciated and I will give more info as needed!
    Thank you

Thanks for reply. Have checked site and all transmitters seem good although not enormously close so reception limited? Have spoken to previous owner and they say freeview signal fine although they did not have a bt vision box and receives freeview through integrated tv. I have attempted to get signal through our integrated tv to no avail. Have now also tried other aerial sockets in the rest of the house, again to no avail. Beginning to wonder whether my aerial cable is incorrect as it wobbles somewhat in the wall sockets? It is a male pin to a female socket. Can't see how this could be the problem, but I'm running out of options!

  • Microphone level too low

It seems like the microphone input level on my wife's iPhone 4 is too low. People have trouble hearing her during her calls. Using the headset, speakerphone, or Bluetooth doesn't increase the volume, nor does covering up the noise-cancelling input on the top.
Using the voice recorder app, I used the same headset the same distance from my mouth to compare the meter volume against my 1st gen iPhone, and the input comes in at least 6dB lower.
Is this a defective model that needs to be returned? Or is this expected as part of the new design? My wife says she can't use it as a phone, it may have to go back.
It would be great if a future iOS update allowed us to adjust the input level.

My wife's iPhone 4 has the same problem concerning the person that she is talking to can't hear her very well at all. It sounds like she is down in a well or the microphone is far away from her mouth.
We have confirmed that signal strength does not appear to be an issue as it does the same thing with 2 bars or 4 bars. I have had her call me on my office landline, so we don't have the issue of two cell phones to cloud the issue.
She also has one of the vinyl or silicon covers that AT&T sold us the day we bought the phone.
She is right-handed, so some of the issues mentioned concerning problems covering up the antenna by left-handers is not a factor.
We are on the latest software revision - v4.0.1 (I believe that was the release we download to iTunes and installed onto her iPhone 4.
The only thing else we have noticed is that the volume of her call approaches a normal level after about 30 seconds into the call.

  • Trying to make a calendar and every picture is coming up too low of quality

I am trying to make a calendar for my mom's Christmas present, but every picture I put in the calendar to be the month's picture has a caution box in the corner and says "This photo may print at too low of quality". I just don't know if this is normal with using your own pictures but I don't want to spend the money on this calendar and then it not turn out very good. Please let me know what you have done or if there is anything to do.

Welcome to the Apple Discussions. What are the pixel dimensions of the pics you're trying to use?
I ran a test on a calendar using the picture theme and for a full page photo to avoid the warning triangle it must be approximately 1535 px x 1181 px or roughly 120 dpi.
You'll have to decide how far below that level those pictures are and decide if it's worth the gamble. Or use layouts which have more photos per page and thus require smaller sizes.

  • Audio Levels too low with ATR35s lavalier microphone

    Hi,
Have a new lavalier microphone from audio-techica the ATR35s.
I have it plugged into the audio-in jack and have played with the sound pref pane and my audio-in levels are in the basement. I have moved the slider all the way to the right but still barely audible.
Anyone with a suggestion on how to boost the audio signal?

The audio-in jack is line level (for the output from hi-fis etc), and microphones have much too low an output for it. You will need to get either a microphone preamplifier or a mixer. There are various small mixers available from firms such as Alesis and Behringer. In the UK Maplin (http://www.maplin.co.uk) sell a microphone preamplifier and Alesis mixers: there must be similar firms in the USA.

    Hi there
Welcome to the HP Support Forums! It is a great place to find the help you need, both from other users, HP experts and other support personnel. I understand that you are having connection issues with your wireless adapter. I am happy to assist with this. Please post the full product number for your notebook. See the following, if you need help with that information. How Do I Find My Model Number or Product Number? Are you trying to use this notebook from the same location from where you were connecting with the other device?Does the signal strength vary significantly in that area?Have you tried connecting from different  locations of to a different wireless network? Please let me know.

  • Low level signal incoming

Hi everyone i have a problem
Im my RME Fireface input i have a normal signal from my Hardware Synths. On meter its more then a half. But when i chose in Logic mixer this input and want to record it - i have a signal like an a quarter of logic meter.Very low.Just when on RME board signal is so loud to make a clip - its looks more loud in Logic. What to do? Pleas help.

that's fairly normal, the metering is a different standard. use an RMS or K20 calibrated meter in logic's input channel and read from that. don't worry, logic has plenty of headroom. just be sure you're not clipping the input device.
do a test file in logic. examine the wave display in the sample editor. measure its peak by using change gain/search max, in the functions menu. i still do this with most very new file. full wave form info like an RMS approximation is not yet available in logic, but other wave editors have this, some have more flexible metering as well.
if the level is still too low for you, insert a gain plug and boost by 3db increments.
if your monitoring thru a system that doesn't have a lot of headroom, that's 83-86db rms spl at the listening position you will have trouble. you should compensate with your monitor volume knob.

  • Final rendering of video is low quality and too bright

Here is the link to my original video clip, the video clip in the project, and the final rendered copy all on my monitor at the same time:

The picture got downsised which makes it harder to see the issue, but here is most of the it:
The final copy is lower quality and way too bright. Noticibly too bright. The clean darks turn into rough gray, and the quality is noticibly lower as well. I have checked the "use maximum render quality" and tried exportiing in AVI and MP4, and nothing is fixing it. Any ideas?

First of all, what type of file do you need?  If you're looking for lossless quality then I would suggest exporting a quicktime file with the Animation codec or some other lossless codec.  However, these type of files are huge and they might not play back on your desktop.  But, if you're just going to put this video on the internet when you're finished with it then I would suggest starting with one of the Youtube or Vimeo H.264 presets and modifying it to match your clip.  It still won't look as good as your original, but you can't expect miracles when working in SD and exporting to H.264, which is a very lossy codec to begin with.  If you want to try exporting to a lossless Quicktime or AVI, then change the settings so they look something like this:

  • Audio level output too low, even if set to maximum

OS: Windows XP Professional Service Pack 3-Build Lab: 2600.xpsp_sp3_gdr.080814-1236
Audio driver:  SoundMAX Integrated Digital HD Audio - Analog Devices - Driver date: 08/02/2008, Driver version: 5.10.1.5520
The audio level output is too low, even if setting the output for all sources to the maximum level.
Does somebody have the same problem?
Need your help to see how to correct this and return to a normal operation!
Thank you very much in advance for your help and answers.

    Additional informations:
Tested with the audio driver found at Lenovo's website, without any success.
After this was done, the audio driver was updated also without success too.

  • Photo quality may be too low to print???? how to fix this

I made a new photo album. a yellow error sign appears in the corner of each photo and says, Photo quality may be too low to print. how can i fix this. THANK YOU

I had the same concerns when I started making my calendars on iPhoto but I went ahead anyway. Unless you are an absolute stickler for perfect photos (i.e., no grain, top quality, etc.) your photos will print just fine even though you get the yellow warning sign. Now, if you can hardly see the photo on your computer, or it's like really badly out of focus, etc., you, of course, not be pleased because WYSIWYG. I've scanned photos in and put them in iPhoto -- and these were very important to me and my family. I added them to the calendars and I was very pleased with the final products. I've probably made 20 calendars and each one has had at least 3 or 4 of the scanned in photos.
Use common sense and if it looks really bad to you, don't use it. If the photo is acceptable to you, it will probably print out just fine.
Good luck - I LOVE these calendars - they make FANTASTIC Christmas gifts.
