Freeze during file import

Hi,
Almost everytime I import a batch of movie files from a folder on my hard drive FCP X freezes about 3/4 of the way through the analysis and correction process. The files are all there when I force quit and restart but I wonder if all the import correction features are being completed.
Thanks

what format are the movie files and how big are they?

  • Lightroom freezes during file import

    Hi,
When I try to import photos from a drive or my camera, Lightroom freezes, often while attempting to import the first photo.  Any ideas of what the problem might be?
I'm using a Mac desktop and Lightroom 1.4.1.
    Thanks!

    Thanks a lot! That´s it!
It took me a while to understand what you had meant and to find out, where and how to change the default setting. I did not change the preset intentionally before and I´m quite sure that LR 5.7 did not do so. There is a faint suspicion that it was done by an OS X update. Perfectly horrible!
    Thankful regards

  • HANA Studio Freezes in File Import Wizard

    Hello everyone,
I'm running HANA Studio version  1.0.68, and can't get it to import any file at all. The application just freezes after clicking the Next button in the File Import Wizard after filling up the form. I've tried even simple CSV files with a few rows without success, and importing into an existing table or a new one with identical results. After closing studio I see a java error (see the screenshot below.
    Any help is appreciated

    Ricardo Sada

    Hi Ricardo,
    You can try these things
    1) Try setting the value of the file as for the Xms as 512m in your hdbstudio.ini file, which will be present in your Studio installation location.
    2) Check for the location of JAVA.EXE ( Kill any JAVAW.EXE in your task manager and restart the studio)
    C:\Program Files\Java\jre7\bin\javaw.exe
    --launcher.XXMaxPermSize
    512m
    --launcher.defaultAction
    openFile
    --launcher.appendVmargs
    -vmargs
    -Xmx1024m
    -Dfile.encoding=UTF-8
    -Xms256m
    -XX:MaxPermSize=512m
    3) Chekc of the Jre path in the system environment variabled and if they are pointing to 32 bit or 64 bit Java installation

  • Mail freezes during message import

    Hi all,
I recently fire-wire transfered all of my files from an iBook running 10.3 onto a Powerbook G4 running 10.4.11
When I went to open Mail, it prompted me to import my mailboxes. I've tried twice, and each time, it never gets past "Imported 14960 of 19504 messages". Up until that point it is dutifully chugging away importing messages, but it can't get past that point. Worse, there's no way to just click "ok" or "continue", if you cancel it, it starts at the top all over again.
Suggestions? Is there an alternative way to get all my mail folders? Please help!
    Thanks!

  • ITunes freezes during file transfers

I'm just hooking up my 20 GB/color iPod for the first time, and this is the problem I'm running in to:
iTunes recognizes the iPod and starts to transfer songs, but after a small number (sometimes only 1-2 go, once it got to about 150) it just stops. No error message, nothing. The box at the top will just flash between the next song on the list and "updating - do not disconnect" message.
If I try to eject the iPod, I get the warning message (are you sure you want to do this? it's updating etc.). If I click yes, then the program just locks up completely. If I click no, then the program just locks up completely. If I never try to eject it, then the program just locks up completely. I never get any kind of error message telling me what's wrong. Also, iTunes will hang in Windows, can't be shut down through the Task Manager, and if you choose to shut down the computer, it will hang and won't complete powering off.
I've tried uninstalling and reinstalling the iPod software and the iTunes software. I've tried about 5 different USB ports (yes, they're all 2.0; no, I don't have a Firewire port) with the same problem. I've reset the iPod numerous times. Nothing works.
Thoughts? I've been reading about problems with iTunes v.5 - could that be the culprit? I'll add that I haven't installed Windows XP Service Pack 2 (though I'm going to do that right now after backing up my hard drive). We'll see if that helps.

HI THERE- I HAVE BEEN HAVING THE SAME PROBLEM. I'VE GOT USB 2.0 PORTS AND WORKING ON A PC. I'LL GET PART WAY THRU TRANSFERRING SONGS ONTO MY IPOD, THEN IT DISCONNECTS.

  • Error "A web exception has occurred during file upload" when trying to import ESXi image file into Update Manager

I'm encountering this error and not sure how to fix, I'm quite new to vCenter so please bear with me.
I'm trying out vCenter 5.1 with Update Manager 5.1 right now.  No license key has been entered and I still have 50 odd days to try it out.
2 ESXi hosts are being managed by this vCenter, and they're both running ESXi 4.0
I'm looking to use Update Manager to try to upgrade the ESXi 4.0 hosts to ESXi 5.1
I downloaded the image file VMware-VIMSetup-all-5.1.0-799735.iso from VMWare website, and is looking to import it using the Update Manager so I can update the ESXi hosts, but I keep on getting the error:
    File name:     VMware-VIMSetup-all-5.1.0-799735.iso
    Failed to transfer data
Error was: A web exception has occurred during file upload
I tried importing it by using vSphere client to connect to vCenter server both remotely and locally, with firewall disabled.
    I've read http://kb.vmware.com/selfservice/microsites/search.do?language=en_US&cmd=displayKC&externalId=1026602
I've disabled firewall, and there is no anti-virus program on the server.  I've also restarted the machine several times, to no avail, I didn't reinstall update manager because the whole Windows and VCenter installations are clean from scratch.
I logged into the vSphere Client using Active Directory credentials, and I've made all Domain Admins (which my account is a member of) part of the administrator group on the vCenter server. I can't log in using admin@System-Domain because it tells me I don't have permissions for it, I still haven't really had the chance to figure out why that is and not sure if that makes a difference.
Also, I'm fairly certain I'm using the right image file, as I've burned some DVD's used that image file to upgrade some other ESXi hosts.  Unless there's a special image file I need to download?
I'm at lost on what I can do to make it work.  Please advise.
    Thanks.

The ISO file you mentioned is the one for vCenter Server. What you need is the "VMware-VMvisor-Installer-5.1.0-799733.x86_64.iso" (or VMware-VMvisor-Installer-201210001-838463.x86_64.iso) for the ESXi host.

I have the latest downloadable version of LR5.  It crashed while it was createing 1:1 previews during an import. After a Win7(64) restart, it shows a message that LR needs to quit because it can't read the preview files and it will try to fix it the next time is launches.  I get the same message the next and every subsequent time it launches so I can't launch LR at all now.
I get that the preview file got corrupted somehow.  Is there some way to fix this problem without building a new catalog?

Use Windows Explorer to open the folder containing your catalog. You will see a folder with the extension .lrdata. You need to delete that folder and then start Lightroom again. Lightroom will generate a new previews folder.

When making a photo book, my iPhoto freezes during uploading the book to the storey.  I have attempted this 4 times now and I don't know what to do! I know the file size is massive due quantity of large image files, but I don't want to reduce the image file size and compromise quality in the book. How can I get past this?

  • Reject columns which exceed a particular length during OWB flat file import

    Hi,
I have a file in csv format. This file has a lot of columns out of which i need to use only a few. I created a file in OWB using the given csv file using the file import wizard. I am using this file to create an external table.
The import is working fine, But the problem is that certain columns (which are not required to be processed) have very huge data. This is leading to rejection of certain rows (when i deploy the external table) which have valid data for the required columns, but too huge data was columns which i do not need.
But these rows must not be rejected.
I wanted to know if there any way by which we can truncate/ insert null in these unwanted columns (either during flat file import / or during creation of external table), so that the row is taken in partially(with the wanted columns)?
    Thanks a lot!
    NS

    Hi Julie,
As Jim posted, you could try a RAW file instead of a CSV file. In SSIS, the Raw File destination writes raw data to a file. Because the format of the data is native to the destination, the data requires no translation and little parsing. So does the Raw
File source. Besides, the Raw File destination/source can improve the package performance because they write data more quickly than other destinations such as the Flat File, the OLE DB, and Recordset destinations.

  • Modifying an IDataConnection during BIAR file import

    Hi
I am programmatically importing a BIAR file that contains some Universes/reports/connections/etc. I need to change the connection InfoObjects during the import. I have found a document called "Updating InfoObjects while importing BIAR files" which more or less describes what I want to do. It seems these InfoObjects are of type "IDataConnection" (which I can't find in the API documentation!). But when I change the connection (using setUVConnectionInfo(...)) and I import the BIAR file, my changes to the Connection Info (username, password, server) don't show up in the Universe Designer. The Universe Designer shows the old values and gives me this warning:
The current connection was edited with a previous version. After the edition, it will not be anymore compatible with previous version. Do you confirm you want to edit this connection?
    So my question is:
How can I properly set the connection info on an IDataConnection object (my underlying DBMS is Oracle, and so I have a username, password, and TNS string). And is there any api documentation for this? (the document at http://help.sap.com/businessobject/product_guides/boexir31/en/boesdk_java_apiRef_12_en.zip doesn't have anything...)
    Thanks a lot
    Zak

    Hello Ted,
You can use BIAR to transfer the data connection, but currently the only public SDK to modify connection logon info is to use the COM-based Universe Designer SDK to pre- or post- process.
Alternatively, the Life Cycle Manager (LCM) product - that allows for modification of InfoObject properties on the fly - may be an option.
Is there a progress in this subject? I am writing a post-install tool that imports BIAR file with pre-defined Universes, reports and connections. I am looking for JAVA SDK to to change the connection during import.
I understand that LCM doesn't have SDK, so I cannot use it.
    thank you

  • Freezes during Import from Camera

    Hi everyone,
I just purchased a new Macbook (exciting isn't it?) absolutely love it but I am having one small issue with iPhoto. Whenever I try to import some media from my camera iPhoto freezes whenever it comes to a video. Is there anything I can do about this? Is there a way to specify what I take from my camera?
    Thanks guys.

    Hello.
If your camera mounts on your desktop as an external drive, ignore the iPhoto Import Window that opens when you connect the camera. Instead, do File > Import to library. This brings up a window you can navigate to select your photos for import. You can even set it to column view and see a preview of files before you import. Select the photos you want and Import them. Then try a video clip and see if iPhoto can import it.
If your camera does not mount on the desktop, you can use a card reader, which does. The above procedure will then work.
If iPhoto does not like the video clips, use Image Capture (in your Applications folder) to upload them. Image Capture gives you the option to "import some..." and select the files from the device. Upload to a folder anywhere NOT in the iPhoto Library folder. When done you can import into iPhoto and delete the initial location.
I have only recently begun having trouble getting iPhoto to upload video clips from my camera card. What changed (besides the recent software updates) is that I got my first 2 Gig card. I don't know if the problem with my video clips lies with iPhoto or with my older card reader not liking the 2 Gig card. I suspect it's the latter. Anyway, I upload my photos directly into iPhoto. Then I open Image Capture, select a video clip, and upload to the desktop. Image Capture seems to stall or freeze when uploading. The progress bar makes no visible progress. I have to click Cancel for the upload, then eject the card. After I do this, the movie file will appear on my desktop. I have only got this to work with one movie at a time. The first time I had to Force Quit my camera card ("mass storage"), but after doing so the video clip was there. Once on my desktop, iPhoto has no trouble importing the clips. It's not pretty, but it works. And once I fill this 2 Gig card, I'm going back to the trusty 1 Gig cards. (Until I feel like buying a new card reader.)

  • Finder Freezing During Network File Transfer

I have 2 external G-Drives daisy chained via FW800 on another Mac in the house.  Sometime when I try to look at the drive in finder from another computer on the network Finder freezes.  All I can do is a forced renoot and then things are back to normal.  Sometimes this happens when I try to look at the second hard drive in the daisy chain or during file transfers I will get an error code - 50.
Again after a reboot things are normal again, but it happens more often then not.

Just did that this morning, and it made know difference.
After computer goes to sleep if I wake it up via the network drive 1 loads and 2nd daisy chain drive kills finder.
    System reboot fixes it.
