Freeze During Gameplay

I was playing a the name the song game on my ipod mini before class today when my ipod mini froze during gameplay. The backlight is still on on the ipod mini, and it is still frozen from where i left it. The ipod mini is currently still on as I type, should I just let the battery drain? I tried connecting it to the computer, but nothing happened.

When your iPod freezes, you can reset it to get it back to normal: hold down the Menu and Center buttons until you see the Apple logo.

PC freezes During gameplay

ok i have a small problem.
when playing a 3d heavy game like battlefield vetinam. my computer will just freeze, no noise, no beeps no nothing it just freezes. and i cant even hit the power button i can only hit the reset button. and after i hit reset i notice the D-Bracket with the LED lights not all green, 1,3,and 4 are orange, and 2 is green
which in the book says its a "memory detection test" and "testing onboard memory size the D-LED will hang if the module is damaged or not installed properly"
i have 2 sticks of 512 ram 266 buss that i took out of my dell, andmy chip is a 2.6ghz p4 400 buss that im actually switching today to a p4 3.0 800 buss
could i have bad ram or maybe the 266 buss is to weak?, or a memory leak?
help?

Update, I just Tried some Old 266MHZ RAM with the 800MHZ Bus CPU in Single Channel Mode, And I WAS ABLE to POST with the 266MHZ Memory, But When I tried it again in Dual Channel Configuration it was a "No-Go" But uppon reading the FAQ's at the top of this Page, I see where 266MHZ RAM is Indeed Supported with a 800MHZ CPU. So My initial Reply was indeed False , But I am sure that you will not be Liking the Performance hit that you will Take with using 266MHZ RAM with a 800MHZ Bus CPU...As a Matter of Fact, your System just might Be SLOWER with your New 3.0GHZ CPU then it was with the 400MHZ Bus CPU while using DDR-266 RAM, but give it a try.............Sean

Imac freezes during start-up. Seems to be caused by Airport issue.

My Imac freezes during startup. I have tried starting it in safe mode without any luck. After the initial start sequence when it gets to this point: Airport linkup en1, the computer starts writing the same line endlessly: com.apple.launch [1] (com.apple.mDNSRsponder [2710]): posix_spawnp (“/usr/sbin/mDNSResponder”,...): No such file or directory
I am not a technician and new to Macs too. I have tried almost everything in the supportfile about freeze issues. I am not able to start the Mac in safe mode. I have repaired the disk. I have tried reinstalling the software, but this fails too.
Did a couple of changes on the timecapsule before it happened (creating a network and new security settings and backup settings) and installed Photoshop Elements 9 and did a lot of file restructuring. Left the computer open and came back to a blue screen. Since then I have been unable to start.
My macbook works fine with the changes. I am stuck - what to try now?
I need my files and they are luckily on the timecapsule, but i am not able to open the imac-bundle file on the macbook, why?

Try Repairing Permissions for the Volume in Disk Utility (Note: may take a long time in 10.5.8)

Zen Micro Freezes during play and sometimes won't turn on at

I have been having some issues with my micro and wondered if anyone could help. I didn't drop it or do anything I can recall to cause these issues, it just seemed to start out of the blue. 2 things are happening. Sometimes it will freeze during play and "buzz" (it's really just transmitting a countinuous sound of a millisecond of what it was playing like if the guy was saying apple, and it freezes when he starts to say it it will sound like "aaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaa" but in a completely illegible buzz way). Second, it will sometimes not turn on at all, no creative logo, no lights, no nothing. Once I take out the battery and replace it, it will always then start no problem. The battery does not seem to be loose at all as the above mentioned buzzin will not stop until I remove the battery, and as I have repeatedly removed the back of the micro during these buzz session?the battery remains firmly seated and the buzzing continues until I remove it. So far I have updated the firmware to 2.2.02 (which I believe reformatted) which didn't stop it from freezing up during play, and just now did a disk clean up (which I can't imagine will have any change?if a complete format didn't). I haven't had the start up problem since the firmware update, but I haven't turned it on and off that many times yet. Any ideas? Sorry to be so verbose but I wanted to explain as best as I could what's wrong, and what I've done so far.

Remove SIM and miniSD card first. Try to boot.
The try hooking it up to the PC again. And see if you might be able to redo the update process.
You can also try a hard reset. As described in a different tread. (Or read below).
Othervise, I afraid you will have to take it to a Service Center.

IPod 5G Freezes during Video Playback

iPod freezes during video playback. Does anybody else have this problem?
Usually freezes up about 10 minutes into a video, and then complety locks up. This usually requires 2 to 3 restarts untill it comes back working properly.

Mine does the same. It really only happens to me when I try to navigate thru menus when video is playing. I usually have to do a forced Reset. I truly think that introducing video on the iPod was not ready for primetime as it is very sluggish, buggy and sensitive during playbabck of video. No problems with music whatsoever but I am frustrated with the very finicky video qualities of this thing.

So since a few months my iPod is starting to get on my nerves. Everytime I try to sync it, my iTunes freezes during the "Determing Tracks to Sync" step. Most of the time it takes a few minutes and then it cancels the sync. I have to sync my ipod atleast 10 times a day to get a song or app on my iPod! One of the most anoyying things tough is, that all playcounts from my iPod sync to my iTunes every time I try to sync. Example: I play Poker Face on my iPod 5 times. I try to sync and my play count says 5 times on my PC. I sync my iPod again and it says 10 times now. It's so anoyying. I restored my iPod already. I removed iTunes and installed it again (And yeah, I deleted it the way Apple wants it). I called Apple and they said I can repair my iPod for 150€, but that's just so much. Any ideas on how to fix my iPod?

And welcome to Apple Discussions.
Because you reformatted your computer, your iPod does not recognize the new library because it was synced with the older library you had before reformatting. In order to get the iPod working again, you will have to [Restore|http://support.apple.com/kb/HT1339] the iPod via iTunes. Once you have completed that step, try re-syncing the music and see if that helps.

My 4th gen ipod won't backup after it froze during a software update to 4.3.5. I had to cancel the backup at the start of the update and now it won't let me backup to my computer, freezes during backup or says my backup is corrupted.

I pressed 'X' during a backup after it froze during an update to software 4.3.5 and now it won't let me backup on my computer. Does anyone have any ideas? It either freezes during backup or says my 'backup is corrupted' or 'I cannot backup on my computer'. I have had to abort quite a few attempted backups since the initial problem, which I think has made it worse. I have already tried restoring my ipod, deleting the aborted backup from my preferences/devices in itunes and deleting it from my user/appdata/etc on my PC hard drive. Any ideas what to try next?

After hours of frustration I eventually decided to restore. I lost my apps, but i didn't have many and was able to reinstall them for free. During the restore it updated my ipod to the latest software 4.3.5, which i think may have caused the initial problem, but the backup issue remains. Sometimes it stops me from syncing and other times it allows me to skip the backup, but still says that i can't backup on my computer. I'm worried that it has done something to my computer as it took me six hours to do a Bullguard scan, which only normally takes about an hour. The scan didn't come up with any viruses, but it stalled at system32 for ages. The only other thing that i can think of is that a demo CD I uploaded may have caused a problem. iTunes couldn't find a track listing for it but gave me a few different options. i thought I had to choose one to continue, so did that then changed the track details to the correct tracks. I'm now worried that may have introduced an issue or caused a glitch in iTunes. How paranoid am I sounding?

Time Machine Freezes During Initial Backup

I have a 500gb external Western Digital HDD I am trying to use as my Time Machine backup drive. The computer I'm using is a 24" iMac with about 250gb of data on it. The external drive is partitioned as a GUID / Mac OS Extended (Journaled).
When I try to run the initial backup, it will randomly freeze during the process. Sometimes it gets halfway through the backup and freezes, other times, right away. Sometimes there is an error, other times there isn't.
I have tried re-partitioning the drive many times, manually starting the backup and also letting the backup start on its own. All of my applications are closed when the backup begins, but no matter what I do, I cannot get the initial backup process to complete.
Ironically, I had the same problem on ANOTHER iMac of mine, with the same model Western Digital drive. The backup would freeze randomly during the initial process but I would keep manually re-starting the backup until it magically finished the backup. Now that computer seems to be working fine.
However, I still can't get this other iMac to work. I find it strange that two separate computers with two separate 500gb Western Digital drives would have the same problem with Time Machine, unless the problem is with Time Machine itself.
Any ideas out there how to resolve this?

Why do you assume it's TM, not WD?
There are many possibilities.
Did you completely erase the drive before formatting it? Sometimes the utilities, etc., that come on new drives can interfere with TM.
Is your iMac an Intel? If it's an older PPC, you need the Apple Partition Map, not GUID.
Is this USB or FireWire? USB is often much slower and less reliable.
If it's USB, does it have it's own power, or does it draw from your Mac? Often there's just barely enough to run a drive; if you have another USB peripheral, it can take enough power to interfere with the disk.
Does it have an automatic "spin down" feature? If so, can you disable it?
Does it have the latest updates? I thing I saw a post here recently that a WD update fixed, but I can't find it now.
Are you running any anti-virus scanning? If so, exclude your TM drive from it.
Sometimes excluding it from Spotlight as well, at least during a large initial backup, can prevent conflicts between TM and Spotlight.

Work-around for flash player hangs/freezes during initialisation...

Are you also facing the problem that the flash player hangs/freezes during execution of an xcelsius file? Try if the following work-around works also for you.
I am (was) facing the same problem: a swf file about 1474 kb with many components, generated with Xcelsius 5.3.2.0., trying to view with flash player 10.1.82.76. Did also hang/freezed! The file was originally build with version 5.3.0 and worked o.k. then...
The work-around which works for me is the following: I had all my components organized in groups. After ungrouping them all (which I think is a major drawback) and exporting it to swf, the report works! File size is more or less the same...
Maybe you can give this work-around a try for your own work....
So I think the SAP/Adobe bug has something to do with grouping of components or grouped components build in an earlier version of Xcelsius 2008... The following test that I will perform is ungrouping the components and then re-grouping them again in version 5.3.2.0....

Thank you for sharing this. Had a similar problem before and did some tinkering around with the file and all of a sudden it worked again. Fair bet it was exactly that as well.
In general Xcelsius performance goes down the drain if you start using many components. It is to be expected, somewhat, I guess. Various bugs also pop up because components do not always seem to play nice.
One thing I have found as well is that if you are doing a waterfall approach of constructing with a bunch of iterations in the implementation phase, you may end up with a bunch of components that were there early on. Sometimes they start messing up over time, because you've been playing with the data below or with the chart itself. E.g. on line charts label start distorting, or the frames flicker. In radiobutton boxes the boxes are not aligned properly. Checkbox labels are clipped at the end until you hover over them etc..
Solution: remove the components, add anew. If not too many components with a tough spreadsheet below, export Excel, start a new.

Try to boot into Safe Mode and order this way, or sign into a different user account and try to order as a different user.

Acrobat 9 Pro - Reinstalling freezes during "Preparing for Installation..."

Hi,
I'm using an Apple MacBook Pro with Mac OS X 10.6.3 (Snow Leopard).
I have installed Adobe Creative Suite 3 Web Premium and Adobe Creative Suite 4 Design Premium.
As written in my other post (http://forums.adobe.com/thread/650516?tstart=0), I am unable to find a solution to reinstall my Adobe printer driver.
That's why I thought I might be able to just reinstall Acrobat 9 Pro completely.
However, when trying this, the installation freezes during the "Preparing for Installation..." screen.
I also tried installing in Safe Mode but without success.
I found some posts regarding this but mostly the solution is to uninstall CS4 completely and to reinstall it again from scratch. But of course I would like to fix the problem without the need to reinstall everything.
Any help is much appreciated!

However, the problem I tried to describe in this post, is that I cannot reinstall Acrobat as it just freezes during the Installation.
Do you know any work-around for that?

My HP Photosmart C7250 freezes during printing et in preparation of printing

Does anyone expériences the same problem? I have reinxtalled the software several times. I have Windows 7, 64. It is happening more and more often. The only way to end the freezing is to disconnect it.

Installing Leopard freezes during installation..

hi.
im updating my old tiger powermac to leopard and its freezing during installation..
i cant take the disc out and try the original discs as it seems like it needs the disc to boot from.
ive held down the space bar but it doesnt eject.
any ideas?

i have both discs (leopard and snow leopard as retail)...
at the moment it wont start in safe mode... it just doesnt startup and until i take my finger off shift it wont go anywhere other than the white apple screen.
i have tried dragging the install disc using disc utility to the macHD and erase the destination... now all it has done is create a clone of the install disc on the internal HD.
I put my other mac in target disc mode with the snow leopard disc in and tried to use startup disc to restart from it but it didnt show up as available... so im stuck...
i cant eject the disc, its not installing properly and my internal HD isnt bootable...
any ideas?

Freeze during screensaver

My PC often freezes during screensaving.
The selected Screen Saver is one of Microsoft's standard choices (3D FlowerBox).
During normal operation the PC never freezes.
Any clues ?

I followed your advice and disabled APIC and APM.
The result was that the startup of Windows did not finish; it took forever.
I guessed that you made a mistake and meant disable IPCA and APM, as both have to do with power management while APIC does something with available IRQ's.
So my next actions were:
Enable APIC again
Enable APM again
Disable IPCA (I wanted to do one thing at the time and see what the results are)
The PC started normally again.
I will work a few days with this situation and come back with the results for the freeze problem.
I must admit that the power management is a difficult to understand issue for me.
In addition to APM and IPCA settings in the bios there are also power management settings in Windows.
(My Windows power scheme settings are:
Turn off monitor: never
Turn off hard disk: never
System standby: never
Hibernate: disabled)
How is the relation between these APM/IPCA/Windows settings; can they lead to conflicting situations; or are the bios settings a prerequisite for what can be offered in Windows?
Is there a website which explains the interrelation?
