Freeze in MAX 4.1

When I installed DAQmx 8.3, I also upgraded from MAX 4.0 to 4.1 .
MAX 4.1 freezes after I run it once, close it & run it a 2nd time.
On this 2nd time, the splash screen appears & the application locks
up. Interestingly enough, I can still run other programs (I'm using IE
right now to write this message).
Any way to fix this ? Is there some repair utility ? How would I re-install MAX 4.1 ?
I loaded a few driver installation CDs & viewed the MAX directory but it doesn't seem to allow me to down-grade to MAX 4.0 .
ak

Hi ak,
You can repair Measurement and Automation Explorer by going to the Control Panel > Add Remove Programs > National Instruments Software > Click on Change > Click on Measurement and Automation Explorer in the list that shows up and select "repair".  You also have the option of uninstalling it using this method, which will also ask you uninstall all the dependant software.  The MAX software is automatically installed with drivers such as DAQmx and NI-488.2.

  • Indesign CC freezes and maxes out memory usage in Windows 7

I'm having a problem where Indesign will freeze and when I check on it in Task Manager I can see the memory usage climbing until it's using all free memory. I have to kill the task to get it to stop. I have 8GB and it maxed out at 6.5gb this morning. I'm on Windows 7 Pro and am using the 64-bit version of Indesign with the most recent update.

The document I'm working on now is only about 35 pages with 1-3 images per page, nothing too crazy. I don't have any extra plugins from what I recall - how do I check?
I'm using Photoshop and sometimes Illustrator at the same time, but have plenty of free memory until ID goes nuts.

  • E-edition freezes up with 1A.pdf The max. number of files are already open no other files can be opened or printed until some are closed , showing four of five and computer froze any I must close by shutting down manually.

My online E-Edition newspaper will freeze up after loading the front page and gives me the message that the max. number of files are already open and no other files can be printed or opened until some are closed. 1A.pdf. When you click ok it repeats itself and you have to force shutdown by holding off button. I'm totally stumped.

I have read that "1000" is default maximum for Acrobat 4 or Acrobat 5 (I don't remmember it exactly anymore). Concerning my PC and RAM. I have a high-end graphical computer at my office; so I'm sure the RAM memory is not the reason.
    Anyway, thanks for answer.

  • Max Temps and tips for keeping it cool (other than freezer)

I have an older (2001... I think it is a G3...I am a photoman, not too into the "how it works thing" ... ) Powerbook and recently it has started shutting down because of temperatures reaching critical mass!!! I just got a temp monitor and it seems to be monitoring the temp ok, but what is the max temp before the computer freezes and shuts down?
Also, do laptop stands help? I am now using a deck of cards to prop up the back and that has helped a bit. If it helps, have you ever seen any home-made ones? A couple pieces of wood on the sides work? I would just go out and buy an actual stand but where I am living (poland) they have never heard of them.

    Jason,
Just to add a few additional comments...
The CPU is rated up to 220ºF but you should hear the fan come on around 170-180ºF. Generally these machines run in the 130-150ºF range under normal usage. Overheating of the CPU will resort in a freeze, not a shutdown. Odds are the computer is shutting down due to a heat-related failure. This could involve a loose connection or possibly a hairline crack in one of the many circuit boards.
There have been some with similar problems who have disassembled their 'books, cleaned all contacts, reassembled and successfully solved the problem...others have been unsuccessful.
Will this shutdown occur if you have a charged main battery installed plus running on the power adapter? This may help in isolating the problem.
As far as cooling, having the 'book tilted up at the rear a few inches is just as good as a special stand. If you wanted to try a small fan blowing across the keyboard and the bottom, it may allow you to use the 'book until a more permanent fix is found.

  • MAX and whole comp. gets freeze when I tried to run RESMAN

    Hi
I am trying to run RESMAN for VXI-MXI-2 in MAX 3.3.1, but it and the computer gets freeze and said "Searching for Statically Configured Devices" such as message 1 (attached). Then next time I tried to run it again it says "VXI locked up" I have to reset it. Please help!! Thanks in advance.

    message 1.jpg ‏73 KB

This problem happens when there is no VXI Bus Timeout. The way to verify it is when the Resource Manager locks up again, turn off the chassis but leave the computer on, if the computer resumes and go back to normal, then this will be the cause of the hanging.
The fix to it is to configure the VXI-MXI Bus Timeout, since you can not use the configuration utility, try switch the Factory Overwrite dip switch, this should fix it for you. The location of the this Factory Overwrite switch can be found in the KnowledgeBase you saw before:
    http://zone.ni.com/devzone/conceptd.nsf/webmain/86054DE2C9DACE7A86256CEE0070237C?opendocument
The TMExlorer only came with older versions of VXI driver and the new driver uses Measurement & Automation Explorer which covers all the functionality of the old TMExlorer. By switching to the old driver will not help in this situation.

  • My iMac from 2007 is slow and sometimes freezes, what can I do? (Software is updated and RAM is maxed at 4GB, CleanMyMax 2 is runed)

Hi, My iMac from 2007 is slow and sometimes freezes, what can I do?
All my Software is updated and RAM is maxed at 4GB. I have used CleanMyMac 2 to clean the iMac.
I also have a problem with Wi-Fi is jumping between On and Looking for Networks

Almost certainly that is your problem, Norton causes more problems than it ever helps. Not only is it unnessary no antivirus app is necessary. Keep your machine up-to-date using Software Update and in most situations that is all you need for security.

Intel SSD520 which is using sandforce controller might not be stable, you could search google as seems other people also got problem with this 520 series of SSD.
I do not think so, many people are extremely satisfied, the problem is probably with the motherboard or motherboards drivers.

  • Windows Randomly Freezes when Resource Monitor Disk Highest Active Time Maxed Out

I'm getting this same problem as this person:
    http://social.technet.microsoft.com/Forums/en-US/w7itproperf/thread/4e33c8d9-fc3d-434b-8dd0-29965d1aa0a2
Except that it seems to happen at random.  While playing a game, browsing the net or when it's just sitting idle.
Hard drive light goes solid, the blue line (% highest active time) in the resource monitor disk graph stays peaked at 100% but
relatively little or no hard disk activity.
My mouse is also usually still responsive.
Some apps will continue to work, but if I click on them they will usually become unresponsive, same goes if I attempt to click on the Windows Start button.  If I'm playing a game, it will stutter or freeze and a .5-1 second sound clip will continuously loop
until it's done (meaning the hard drive light is no longer solid and blue line is no longer peaking).
It is also the same for me that occasionally the OS will freeze completely and I will need to hold down the power button to reboot, but this is usually more rare.
I've checked the Event Viewer and there are no errors that coincide with the problem.
I've run chkdsk and no errors were returned.  Same when I ran Memtest86+ to check RAM, no errors.

    Hi,
How about updating the BIOS and all devices' driver from the manufacture's site?
I suspect it is the task schedule running in the background. If you want to narrow down the issue, you may need some monitor tools and then analyze.

To analyze the process, it is better to contact Microsoft Customer Service and Support (CSS) via telephone to get more efficient support.

  • System freezes randomly for 5+ minutes at a time

Hi, I've been having random hard freezes (only remedy would to wait it out or push the dreaded power button while saying "shhhhhh, it'll be over soon" and weeping). I have looked at the logs and it seems journald has something to do with it, but I don't know what the problem is. I suspected that firefox/aurora globbling too much memory might be the problem, but the freezes occur even without any programs open at all except openbox and sxhkd.

I'm also unsure why 12:16:41 timestamp appears *after* 12:25:56!
What I want to know is what might be causing the freezes or how I can figure out what's causing the freezes, and hopefully how to fix it!
    Thanks!
edit: I'm aware of the "Out of memory" error related to firefox/aurora, but the freeze happens even without firefox/aurora running!

Thanks! I had already tried the wiki article about disabling crash dumps and it didn't help! Also, I don't have access to previous logs anymore since "buhman" on [email protected] suggested I remove /var/log/journal directory which solved the problem for now (I waited for a few days before reporting to make sure I don't get freezes).
Also, he had this to say: "feel free to mention that even crap like buhDB is a better implementation of a binary log database"
I'll see when the freezes happen again (or if they do at all) and report back if it happens again.
    Thanks!

  • ITunes 10.6.3.25 is not syncing/freezes every time!

    Tech Stats:
    Windows 7 (32-bit) on a Toshiba Notebook
32GB iPod Touch - purchased in April 2012
    iTunes 10.6.3.25
I'm running iTunes 10.6.3.25 on Windows 7 (32-bit), trying to sync a 32GB iPod Touch. It detects the iPod and 'starts' the sync with the candy cane-striped bar, but then it freezes.
    It generally varies between:
    "Preparing to Sync"
    "Determining tracks to sync"
    "Backup"
    "Checking Downloads"
    "Waiting for sync to start"
"Waiting for changes to be applied"
before it freezes completely and/or won't do ANYTHING. I either have to Ctrl+Alt+Del to stop it (as it comes up 'Not Responding' in Windows Task Manager) or disconnect the iPod from the USB port altogether, whereupon iTunes starts to work again.
There is a VERY RARE occasion when it will start to sync music - 'Syncing music to "My iPod" (Step 5 of 5)', 'Copying 3 of 1233' - then freeze and show "Finishing sync" with the candy cane-striped bar moving for a LONG time, never stopping, and it's only synced a few songs (on one occasion, the max. number of synced songs was 33 out of over 1200). Space and capacity on the iPod is never an issue as I rarely have an iPod (any model) filled to capacity. I still have about 28GB of space left.
A couple of times while the candy cane bar is churning away, I've attempted to eject the iPod. Of course I was asked if I was sure I wanted to and I clicked 'yes', and it came up with a green scrolling bar that said 'Syncing iPod'. It kept scrolling forever with no end in sight. I ended up disconnecting the iPod.
I've tried each of these steps several times:
    Rebooting my laptop.
    Restarting iTunes.
    Resetting my iPod.
    Using different USB ports.
    Using different USB cables.
Re-installing 10.6.3.25 without uninstalling it - Downloading it from Apple and choosing the 'Repair' option.
    Using iTunes in Safe Mode.
Deleting and resetting sync history in iTunes.
    Wi-Fi Sync.
Uninstalling iTunes and going back to an old version (10.5.3.3) - still couldn't sync.
Uninstalling ALL iTunes components as per these instructions: http://support.apple.com/kb/HT1923.
    Re-installing 10.6.3.25.
My ABSOLUTE LAST, bottom-of-the-barrel option would be restoring my iPod completely. However, I AM apprehensive about doing this.
I've never had trouble with iTunes before. Only recently (10.6.3.25 and the version prior) did I have trouble syncing, where I connected the iPod and it took several clicks of the 'Sync' button before it would finish it completely without freezing or doing it 'piece-by-piece'. My Firewall settings have never had an impact on anything to do with iTunes.
I HAVE noticed, however, that every so often, my Anti-Virus program (McAfee) will come up with a red warning saying that my 'Real Time Scanning' has been turned off and that my computer is at risk. So I turn it back on again, but it doesn't make a difference to anything. Since I was infected with malware late last year, I don't want to risk getting something nasty again.
I DID, however, lose a few playlists from the current iTunes AND my iPod recently and got them back by following the instructions on this site: http://osxdaily.com/2010/12/07/itunes-playlists-disappeared-recover-missing-itun es-playlists/. I got my playlists back but then this whole drama started with not being able to sync at all.
I'm at my wit's end, I can't figure out what's going on and I don't know what to do next.
EVERYTHING else on the iPod is working flawlessly - games, apps, I even kept my iBooks! - but the problem with syncing is BEYOND me. I've been scouring the internet for days trying to find something that'll help me fix this problem but to no avail.
So please, PLEASE help me! I'm begging you, any help would be greatly appreciated!
    Thanks in advance!

    Hey thanks for replying.
    Here's what I did:
First I tried the Winsock reset in the Command prompt. Nothing changed.
Next, I tried the instructions on http://http://support.apple.com/kb/TS4123. The only other program that came up on the 'Winsock Providers' tab on the program was 2 Windows Live applications, which I can do without. So I deleted all Windows Live Applications.
I did the Winsock reset in the Command Prompt again and rebooted my comp.
Unfortunately, nothing has changed. iTunes keeps freezing at various stages of the sync, then shows the candy cane-striped bar with either the words 'Finishing sync' or 'Cancelling sync', before showing the Apple logo.
Sometimes, iTunes gets to the syncing stage - "Copying # of ####" - where it will trudge through the first, second and third tracks before flashing "Copying 4 of ####" for a split second and I catch "Cancelling sync" briefly before the Apple logo appears.
Again, I've repeated the steps I mentioned in my previous post. Does ANYONE know when the new version of iTunes is set to be released?! This one is driving me INSANE, to say the least!!
