hey guys...i have a huge problem with my macbook pro 13"! i updated it to 8GB RAM. But even if i did this, my mac often freezes and stands still. No matter if i use just Safari or my Pro DJ Software, it makes huge problems...PLEASE HELP ME

Run Apple Hardware Test on your system, if no problems are found, try resetting your SMC.  If you are still having problems I would replace the hard drive.

    gta 4 steam !

If GTA IV believes the system is under specification even though the computer is powerful enough to run the game with higher settings, the following will fix this problem.
This will work if your problem looks like this: "resource usage 230/60" and you can't change any other setting
    Just follow the steps:
    Step 1: Create a text file named ‘commandline.txt’ (without the " ")
Step 2: Put the following statement inside it:
    i5 users: -availablevidmem 18.0 (with the -)
    i7 users: -availablevidmem 22.0 (with the -)
Step 3: Open the main GTAIV folder (C/ program files (86)/ rockstar games/ GTA IV) and copy the commandline.txt file into it.
Step 4: locate the file "GTAIV.exe" (in GTA main folder)
Right click the file and select Properties
Under the shortcut tab, you will see an area that says Target
Modify the Target adding the command line after the last quotation mark (just add the statement you added in commandline.txt)
    (remember, i5 users: -availablevidmem 18.0 / i7 users: -availablevidmem 22.0)
It should look something like this:
Make sure to add space between " and -"
I hope This helps, although late cx

  • Screen Freeze from MacBook Pro to MacBook

When using Face time from my 2008 era mac book pro to a basic mac book of the same vintage, the screen freezes and the app bombs on the mac book. Is this a memory problem. No problem going from an iphone 4 to the mac book. Is it the mac book pro or the basic mac causing the problem? Anybody have any insight?

  • External monitor problem macbook pro mid 2012

Hi everyone i have a really big problem.
I add a new SSD OWC extreme 6G and a Data Doubler with the original HDD of my macbook pro, i follow all the instructions, i install the latest OSX and install all my apps, till there everything went well and awesome, really fast and i was really happy, but when i connect my external monitor a Samsung SyncMadster T220M my macbook pro freeze but if i disconnet goes back to normal.
I shutdown and restart, connect again and the same.
If i shoutdown the mac and connect the monitor and then turn on, the OS does not start and stay loading.
SSD is the main Hard Drive and the standard HDD is the secondary for DATA
I follow almost all the advice on http://blog.alutam.com/2012/04/01/optimizing-macos-x-lion-for-ssd/ except the advice only for SSD because i have SSD+HDD
also i download the app Chameleon SSD Optimiser and turn on everything
    I really need help!!!
    PLEASE HELP!!!
I USE MY MACBOOK PRO FOR PRESENTATIONS!!!

I had never heard of "Chameleon SSD Optimiser" but I took a look at it after reading your message... I'm not sure that 'turning everything on' was a wise idea... enabling TRIM is fine, of course. I wouldn't think that 'Chameleon' options would have anything to do with your problem, however.
What sort of adapter are you using with your Samsung monitor? I would imagine that there is either a hardware fault with the adapter, or with either your Mac port or the port on the monitor.

  • OSX Lion 10.7.3 FREEZES on Macbook pro 13'' 2009

I've got a macbook pro 13" mid 2009 and I upgraded to OSX Lion immediately when it came out. Never had any problem with it. Also I upgraded to 8 Gb a few weeks ago (because I use a virtual machine (win 7) + Adobe applications at the same time) and that seemed to work just fine.
Since a week or so, the OS seems to freez all the time. Just typing this message it happened more than 6 times. By Freeze I mean that the system doesn't seem to react for 10 seconds or more, and sometimes it shows the spinning wheel (waiting sign).
I did a clean install of Lion yesterday, but this didn't solve the problem. Any ideas?

I have the same issue today. MacBook Pro 13" from 2009. Just randomly started freezing and programs would stop responding.
I decided to update the OS to see if that solved it. Instead that has left me at the restart screen with a spinning wheel for well over an hour now... I am getting close to just throwing this thing at a wall it has become so frustrating to watch.
    What do I do???

  • OS X Lion freezes my MacBook Pro

    Hello everyone,
I've got a 15' MacBook Pro since November 2010, it came with OS X Snow Leopard, and everything was fine with it. No bugs, no freezing, no problems... I could use it without having to restart the computer for months.
I made the upgrade to Lion in July 2011, and since that day, my MacBook Pro freezes randomly quite often. Sometimes it's when I'm checking my emails for example I click on "answer" and the MacBook Pro freezes, there is this multicolor whirl, I can't do anything. I've to shut down the Mac by holding the power button for a while. It doesn't happen only with mail, it happens randomly like I said. For example, when I'm watching a YouTube video or watching photos in iPhoto... even when I only use the finder to find a file.
To repair this problem, I tried everything :
    - I made a clean install of Lion (I thought, maybe some Snow Leopard parts were the problem).
    - I made a repair of the permissions, a repair of the disk, well, everything that could help the Mac to work better like PRAM reset, NTFC reset, etc
    - I completely erased the disk, and I made a clean install of Lion.
I don't think it's an hardware problem, because everything was fine with Snow Leopard. If you know something I could do in order to have a Mac without bugs and freezing. And don't tell me to reinstall Snow Leopard, cause I really need iCloud.
    Thanks in advance

OK everyone, I may have found the solution, with a very clean install, everything seems to work fine now.
What I did: I downloaded Lion to create a USB installer, then I launched it, in disc utility, I erased the disc, and also the empty space (about 2 hours).
With my hard drive all cleaned, I installed Lion using the USB key, (about 20min).
Since, I tried eveything, I opened all my programs, I used YouTube and every websites with Flash. I tried eveything that could make it freeze. Nothing, so I think that's the solution of many freezing problems.
And the Mac seems to be faster than before... So it's strange, cause I already did that before, except the Install from a USB key. Maybe it's that.

  • Macbook pro  freezing in, macbook pro  freezing in

I follow the latest info about the annoying freezing that macs suffer in various sercumstances.my macbook pro is stack to that problem since version 10.8.i hoped in mavericks the problem would be off,but it getting even worse.anyway i think that such big problems,in today's modern machines from a company with so much innovation in all the aspects of computers general,is just for laughs.
i can not work with my 2500 euro machine in live cause i can not trust this anymore.

First off, upgrades do not fix system problems, they merely add new features, and in some cases remove old ones.  Your first step to isolating a freeze is backing up your data.
Once you have backed up, we can try to determine the causes:

  • ITunes freezes entire Macbook Pro

I bought a Macbook Pro back in December and it's great. I have consistently been having one particular problem that is irritating me quite a lot. I turn on my computer. I only open iTunes, the only thing running, and I'll start up some music. I go about my day working in photoshop and surfing the net and blah blah listening to music. A song comes on that I don't really like so I got in to iTunes to change it. Well, I go flipping through cover flow in itunes and play a song and suddenly my computer locks up. AH. My mouse is still fully functional and my music is still playing. My "loading" twilry rainbow circle cursor comes up and never goes away. My hot corners don't work. My keyboard won't work. Force quitting doesn't work. I can't do anything except listen to my music and move my mouse around. This has happened a number of times now. I have tried to wait and see if it ever unfreezes(I have sat for about 30 minutes waiting) and it never seems like it will so I am forced to hold down the power button. Now, I switched to Mac because it seemed that nothing ever went wrong with Macs and I wouldn't have to worry about things like this. It's very frustrating to lose files and unsaved work while listening to music. I'm not sure if anyone else has had this problem, but if someone could give me a little insight it would be much appreciated.
    Thanks.

I am having the exact same problem. I, however, am running a Black 2.16 GHz, 2G Ram, 160G MacBook with the latest version of Leopard. My MacBook was running perfectly until the iTunes 7.6 update last January. Then I got the same results you all have been mentioning. Since then I have updated iTunes to 7.6.1 hoping for a fix, to no avail.
But a week ago, it all got worse. Last Wednesday, my MacBook froze, and not with iTunes. Since then, I can't use it for longer than a few minutes without getting a complete freeze, where the only way out is a hard restart. Not only that, but sometimes I don't even have iTunes open. When I do, though, it just happens quicker. I've had to do hard restarts up to six times in one sitting, until I gave up. I've fixed permissions, I've tried everything, but nothing. I even tried scanning for viruses. The first time it just froze again. I'm scanning it again as we speak, hoping to find a culprit and fix this once and for all.
In any case... I feel you all's pain. I hope we can find a fix for this soon.

  • Cursor freeze on Macbook Pro

    Hi,
    I have a 2009 Macbook Pro, 2.8 GHz Intel Core 2 Duo; 4 GB 1067 MHz DDR3.
I am experiencing a recurring problem with the cursor freezing and/or completely disappearing. This happens in virtually any program (i.e. it's not just in Safari or related to flash as far as I can tell). Nothing fixes this problem. Force Quit has no effect. The only thing I can do is push the power button until the Macbook shuts off and restart it. This is becoming more and more frequent and is really frustrating me.
I've searched discussions and googled the problem but I've yet to find a solution.

I too have a 2008 MBP.  I have never had a problem with it until these past few months. It finally froze up and the screen went black and could not get it to come back.  Took it to the Apple Store who sent it out for repairs.  Came back with a new logic board and a couple other things I do not remember.  Now the computere freezes a couple of times a day and needs a hard reboot. The fan runs loud and fast before it shuts down.  Sometimes on the reboot the screen looks like it has flood lights shining from the floor of a stage on stage curtains.  Makes it very difficult to use this way.  Took it back to the store and they could not get it to duplicate the problem.  Told me to take pictures if it happens again.  Took pictures this time and the time where the log-in screen is no more than a shadow behind the the black veil.  I did not have this problem prior to the repair.  While they got it running, I spend several times a day rebooting and rebooting, and rebooting.  Very difficult to work this way.  I too want to know why this seems to be a major issue with 2008, 2010 and 2011 MBP and there is no response from Apple.  I guess we are on the way back to the store-- a 2 hour drive each way. Will let you know if they find anything.

Help please, Any help to overcome this problem will be appreciated.

    Then do this:
If you have your original installer DVD boot from it. Do you still get a panic? If not, then backup the computer, erase the drive, and reinstall Lion:
Install or Reinstall Lion/Mountain Lion from Scratch
Be sure you backup your files to an external drive or second internal drive because the following procedure will remove everything from the hard drive.
    Boot to the Recovery HD:
Restart the computer and after the chime press and hold down the COMMAND and R keys until the menu screen appears. Alternatively, restart the computer and after the chime press and hold down the OPTION key until the boot manager screen appears. Select the Recovery HD and click on the downward pointing arrow button.
    Erase the hard drive:
      1. Select Disk Utility from the main menu and click on the Continue button.
      2. After DU loads select your startup volume (usually Macintosh HD) from the
left side list. Click on the Erase tab in the DU main window.
      3. Set the format type to Mac OS Extended (Journaled.) Optionally, click on
the Security button and set the Zero Data option to one-pass. Click on
the Erase button and wait until the process has completed.
      4. Quit DU and return to the main menu.
Reinstall Lion/Mountain Lion: Select Reinstall Lion/Mountain Lion and click on the Install button.
Note: You will need an active Internet connection. I suggest using Ethernet if possible
because it is three times faster than wireless.
Note, that if you cannot start from the Recovery HD without experiencing a panic, then you have a hardware failure.
Be aware that the panic report you posted is usually always associated with GPU failure for your specific model. It does not have anything specific to do with upgrading Lion or to Lion.

  • Magic Trackpad Update Freezes my Macbook Pro

I have a 2007 MacBook Pro and purchased a Magic Trackpad for it yesterday. It worked (minus scrolling, etc) without doing the 1.0 update. I ran the Update Programs function and it suggested the update - which I ran. Now my MacBook freezes with a spinning wheel at the Apple icon. I've tried all the standard way to fix it - boot with shift, command-v, command-s and nothing helps. Any ideas of how to manually (via Unix console) delete the last update so I can have my MacBook back? Thanks

Then again even with fully recharged batteries it is sometimes not as precise as the built in trackpad on the MacBook.

  • FaceTime Problem - MacBook Pro Retina

Hello everyone, as the title suggests, I have a problem with FaceTime.
During a video call (only a video call, during FaceTime Audio I don't have any problems) I hear and see the other person well, but the other person sees me and feels jerky, sometimes subtle, but sometimes that makes it impossible for the other person to understand me. Tried with three different people.
    how to solve?
It is not a wifi problem because I've tried with the iPhone and it did not give these problems ...
    Thank you!
MacBook pro Retina (13' late 2013) 512 GB

    Hi there,
I have the same computer as you, and I've noticed the same thing. Both facetime and skype have similar audio issues. I can seem to hear the other side fine, but my audio particularly breaks up a lot.
The audio though my phone is perfectly fine when I facetime though the same network using my iphone. I previously had a 15" macbook pro late 2011 and the audio was fine. I realize the microphones are different in this new retina (late 2013) model - though the audio problems seem to occur even with an external microphone as well.

  • ITunes freezes my Macbook Pro

Hey everyone. I just purchased a brand new 15" Macbook Pro with a 128GB SSD. My first Mac after 13 years using PCs.
OSX Lion is the current version.
iTunes is also the most current version.
    All software is up-to-date.
Every time i open up iTunes, my Macbook begins to freeze. It starts with a small lag of a few seconds, and the longer iTunes is running the longer my Macbook becomes unresponsive. After only about 5 minutes, it gets to the point where nothing will move at all and I am forced to do a hard shutdown.
It's done it since the very first moment I had it, and i just recieved it from Apple 3 days ago.
What's the deal here? I am not overloading it with too many applications, in fact I can run nothing but iTunes and it does the same thing.
What could possibly be the issue?

    Back up all data.
Triple-click anywhere in the line below on this page to select it:
    ~/Library/Application Support/SyncServices
Right-click or control-click the line and select
Services ▹ Reveal in Finder (or just Reveal)
from the contextual menu.* A folder should open with an item selected. Quit the application if it's running. Move the selected item to the Trash. Relaunch the application and test.
*If you don't see the contextual menu item, copy the selected text to the Clipboard by pressing the key combination  command-C. In the Finder, select
    Go ▹ Go to Folder...
from the menu bar and paste into the box that opens by pressing command-V. You won't see what you pasted because a line break is included. Press return.

    Hi

It take some time but always switch on but nowday nothing only sometimes for afew sec works then switch off like here:
    https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=LGop0Ns34mc
I tried remove battery, change hardrive, reset SMC still the same problem. Is here something like first help, or where could be problem.
    Thanks

You could try a PRAM reset - not sure it will resolve the problem, but it won't hurt to try:
    http://support.apple.com/kb/ht1379
If the problem persists I'd recommend you call Apple and get them to look at it under warranty.
(P.S. no problems with your English - it's excellent )
