  • Itunes7 freezes very often ... even no chance to quit it

    Hello everybody,
I have a pretty large itunes library (150 GB) on a external (usb) harddrive. After upgrading to itunes7 the app freezes very often. With freezing I mean: The app doesn't react any more, I have a spinning ball as a cursor.
In the dock I see "application doesn't respond" (in german ...). "Quit at once" in the dock doesn't help. Even more STRANGE: When I use "quit at once" from the apple menu, the process disappears in the list, but itunes is still displayed as running in the dock (black triangle below).
    Please help!
    Thank you!

Hmm - I think that it's time for an appointment with an Apple tech! Do you have an Apple Store or an AASP nearby? You've most certainly a hardware problem - the GPU on the 13" model is an integrated GPU so if you've a GPU problem, the entire logic board will need to be replaced, which can be quite expensive. Let's hope it's a RAM issue which can be fixed relatively cheap.
But go ahead and call the Apple Store and make an appointment to have your machine tested.
    Good luck,
    Clinton

  • My dock freezes very often :(

lately my dock has been freezing all of a sudden
and this happens quite often now
when the dock freezes and I try to use functions such as dashboard and those F7,8,9,10,11,12 features it doesnt work
and then when I try to restart or shut down
it wont because the dock is frozen
    what should I do?

I'm having the same problem on my new iMac 6.1 . The dock and the finder are freezing so often that it brings back memories of using the paperclip to restart. This is very frustrating and a huge inconvenience. I've pulled out 3rd party programs, switched to the most basic screensavers that came with the computer, and I've repaired permissions numerous times, but there's never anything to be fixed. It's a long wait for Leopard when you have this to deal with almost daily. I will try the suggested fix and see what happens. I just wanted to add my situation to anyone else's that might be similar. I can't wait for the new operating system to be released. This one was wonderful up until May or June 2007. (I am not having these problems with the iBook, but I haven't used it that much since I bought the iMac 6.1, which is at least much faster than my 3 yr. old iBook G4. )

  • My iMac 27" freezes very often...

    Hello,
I don't know why but my iMac stops working all ~5 Minutes, even if I only have about 5 Applications open like Safari, Mail, Transmission, Adium and iTunes. I was looking for the reason by myself, for example I ran the Apple Hardware Test and I deinstalled some things I recently added. I started Activity Monitor and looked up if my RAM (4GB) is full, but I still had about 2 GB free. I don't know what to do, please help me! I want a working iMac!
    Isai.

    Hello,
I don't know if our problems are linked in any way, you can see my spec at bottom, yet I think we should keep an eye on what each other are posting for a while.
    I'll subscribe to this thread.
I will be posting my own new thread very soon and when I do I'll let you know.
Once I get my thread up and running I recommend that you subscribe, at least until you have determined whether our issues are linked or not.
    In a nutshell:
My iMac started showing minor graphical errors.
Then graphical errors that caused major concern.
Then my system suffered 'Kernel Panics', random reboots, system freezes and now will not power up.
I have witnessed enough info on various forums, including this one, to indicate that my problem may be linked with the year of manufacture, certain hardware components and, the one that most intrigues me, the factory it was produced in.
Our Issues may not be closely linked, apart from both having iMac's that have frozen...
I'm starting with my eyes open to all similar problems and wont flood peoples threads with my issues, yet I will invite all to look at and join my thread if they feel it is relevant to them.
In my thread I will be looking into the serial to begin with, which tells where and when manufactured.
If you look at my Profile Biography, it has a breakdown of what the various parts of the serial represent. (This will be written in a clear fashion when I get my thread underway)
    Yours,
    GaBeech

  • IPhone 3GS freezes very often

    Hi,
I have a pretty new iPhone 3GS (since early january)
I use it with the 3.1.3 OS
The problem I have with it is that it often freezes with the little loading circle in the middle(like the one in the middle of the page here http://www.unwiredview.com/wp-content/uploads/2008/11/google-mobile-app-for-ipho ne-with-voice.jpg ). It happens when I'm using Calendar, facebook application, iPod application or even when I slide my home page from one screen to another. In other words, it only freezes when I'm touching the screen somehow.
I tried several times to restore it to fabric settings in iTunes using the Restore button, and it still happens after a little while (around one day later)
I'm a simple guy so I don't do really sophisticated things on my iphone: I only use it to make call, listen to songs and youtube/safari/facebook so I guess that isn't the problem.
Recently. I restored it again (for the 2758357285 times) and after few hours, I can't even open my iPod application. when i click on it, it shows a little the black background of the iPod, but then comes back immediately to the home screen.
My iphone capacities are getting lower and lower.
Can someone tell me how to resolve this problem?

    Okay MAJOR resync problem !
You need to do a complete restore to factory settings and restore from backup - that 12Gb of Other is all corrupted files and data.
First backup the phone with iTunes and make sure your backup completes.
    The do this http://support.apple.com/kb/HT1414
    You'll be fine.

  • Applications start to freeze VERY OFTEN after recent Yosemite updates?

I've been using Yosemite since open Beta and this only started to happen I think since the update before the official release update. I'm using a Macbook Pro Late 2013.
It gets worse with uptime and resets when I restart the system. I have not tried too many applications because I don't use that many recently but Safari ALWAYS freezes when it happens, so does Chrome. I would be browsing and then all the sudden it's frozen I had to force quit it. If the uptime hasn't been very long usually I can restart Safari and keep going. But after two days or more restarting Safari will just cause it to immediately freeze after it reloads all the webpages again. I would have to restart OS X to fix.

    Hi Gongc,
Welcome to the Apple Support Community!
I understand that you are having some Safari performance issues after updating the operating system. One of the first troubleshooting steps that I would suggest would be looking at third-prty add-ons. Please use the attached article for information on uninstalling these add-ons if you have them.
Safari: Unsupported third-party add-ons may cause Safari to unexpectedly quit or have performance issues
    Cheers,
    Joe

  • Firefox freezes very often when I browse pages, then it starts working normally

Firefox freezes temporarily when I'm filling forms or posting in forums, this has greatly decreased the quality of my browsing experience.

Yes, you're right, FF hung yesterday & I had to kill it.
Don't blame flash, though, Chrome works fine with it.
    It's a FF problem.

  • Why does my iMac freeze so often?

I got an iMac computer last May, and ever since then I have been having some issues that can be quite annoying. First of all, it freezes very often. I could be in the middle of reading an email and suddenly the rainbow spinning ball comes on and never seems to go away. Sometimes I go off and do something else just to see how long it would take for my computer to un-freeze, but after being gone for several minutes, it still continues to load. I end up having to restart the computer about 5-6 times a day because of constant freezing. Again, this computer is barely 7 months old and I already have some serious issues. I do not run many apps at the same time, and the only apps that I have running most are Safari and Skype. I don't run any big programs that could slow the computer down, so that can't be the problem. Also, sometimes when I try to use the computer, it is just a black screen. It isn't black like it's turned off. It's kind of hard to explain, but it seems that the computer is on because it emits light, but it is just a black screen. But the problem is that I can't do anything to wake it up. Moving the mouse doesn't work, so I am left to holding the power button down to turn it off. This probably happens about once a day.  I am not sure if this issue is connected, but I might as well mention it anyways. Many apps don't respond and I need to force-quit them quite often. The app that I have the most problems with is iMovie. It seems almost impossible to open it because each time it freezes and doesn't respond. I have this once in a while with Safari, but not nearly as often as iMovie. Sorry for the amount of questions, I have just been kind of disappointed with the problems that I have been having, especially because the computer is not old at all. My family has the exact same computer which is only a month older than mine, and it operates perfectly. The same applications are loaded on both of them, so I don't understand why my computer has so many issues and my family's doesn't.

The next time you have the problem, note the exact time: hour, minute, second.
If you have more than one user account, these instructions must be carried out as an administrator.

☞ Enter the first few letters of its name into a Spotlight search. Select it in the results (it should be at the top.)
☞ In the Finder, select Go ▹ Utilities from the menu bar, or press the key combination shift-command-U. The application is in the folder that opens.
☞ Open LaunchPad. Click Utilities, then Console in the icon grid.
Make sure the title of the Console window is All Messages. If it isn't, select All Messages from the SYSTEM LOG QUERIES menu on the left. If you don't see that menu, select
    View ▹ Show Log List
    from the menu bar.
Scroll back in the log to the time you noted above. Select any messages timestamped from then until the end of the episode, or until they start to repeat. Copy them to the Clipboard (command-C). Paste into a reply to this message (command-V).
When posting a log extract, be selective. In most cases, a few dozen lines are more than enough.

  • Iphone 3GS 16GB hang/freez very often

    Dear all,
I bought an Iphone 3GS 16GB around 2 months ago and I've used it everyday. The Iphone is hang/freeze very often, when it happens I follow the advice which I searched on apple.com: turn off and turn on the Iphone, after that, it's fine but it still happens very often so I tried to restore the firmware from Apple (use Itunes for restoring), I hope it's fine but now it still exists but the time is not very often.
Please advise whether my issue come from Iphone hardware or not.
    Thank you very much!

I've had the same issue since day 1 of getting the 3GS. I had the original iPhone and it worked flawlessly but the 3GS is a PoS. It won't sync with Windows 7, it hangs or freezes constantly. I am very disappointed. My next phone will be an Android OS

  • Imac g5 freeses very often for no particular reason

Hi, guys, I am just frastrated!
My imac g5 freeses very often for no particular reason and it takes ages for it to load when i restart it.
does anybody know what may cause it and what i should do to solve the problem?

I first suggest that you test using the Apple Hardware disc
that came with your iMac to see if it's hardware related.
    If it is hardware related,
    contact Apple
Like the first replier, you might need to repair permissions,
you could use the application Disk Utility to repair it while your
    system is running.
OR you could start up using the system installer disc which
also has disc utility to repair permissions and repair disc.
    repairing is fast and easy
I suggest doing this once a week or two to maintain permissions.
Another possibility is that your iMac could be under the Apple Repair Extension Program since you implied that your iMac is a G5.
If you suspect that you might be under the extension program, contact Apple.
    Hope this helps...

  • Apps crash very often. System reboots.

    Hello,
Problem is that applications very often crash.
The most: Safari, iBooks, GoodReader, Numbers, Pages.
App closes and the system returns to the main screen, not saving the changes that took place during use of the application.
Very often when pdf file is opened, it freezes the application (doesnt matter in which it is opened), and the iPad seems to be warmer than usually.
In addition, from time to time the device reboots - Apple logo shows and system restarts.
The iPad Air is 32 GB with cellular, the amount of free space on it is always over 2 gb, and closing other applications also does not help.
Please help or advice me, how I can improve stability of my device.
    Sincerely,
    Marco

  • My system hangs very often (SUDDENLY)

Hi there, hope someone can help me to fix that
I'm running Mac OS X 10.6.7 with kernel version Darwin 10.7.0 on my IMac 27" . Actually , the machine suddenly and very often hangs and the screen turns to strange pixels like puzzles till I reboot the system manually. the format would be a solution of it is a hardware issue?  help me please

    Basic Software troubleshooting
    Restart
    Reset
    Restore  with back up
    Restore as new
    Each step as required,i
f the issue still exists then you likely have a hardware problem
You would then need to return the iPhone to the US either in person or send to a friend or relative to hand carry in to an Apple Store
