Freezing after use with Itrip
Anybody experience their ipod freezing after using an itrip. Mine is now frozen! Nightmare. Ihave tried to reset it but nothing happens after the obligatory 6-10 secs. Any suggestions

is it safe (for the cpu, I mean) opening the Power Mac when it's on? Or I should boot with leaving the door open?!? However I have just powered the Mac on, left it alone for 20 min with only Folding@home running, come back, open 2 windows on SeaMonkey... and the computer froze when closing down one window, and it took 3 restarts to boot this time: first time it just stuck at the grey screen with the darker shade of grey apple in the middle (with a strange grey horizontal line just over and left from the apple), 2nd restart it booted up to the desktop view, the mouse was working but I couldn't do anything apart from moving it around the screen, 3rd time is now... I don't think it's overheating (but still...). Thanks for the help.

My keyboard freezes after using the option key... what gives?
I have a 17" MacBookPro with OSX 10.6.8
The problem: My keyboard key freeze after using the " option key" in Photoshop or when downloading a file using the option key.
I can usually use it 2 or 3 times before it makes a chirping cricket like sound… then my keys freeze up.? The only way to correct it is to restart.

You'll have to phone the service center and ask. (When I lived not far from Lenovo's Canadian service center and wanted to bring in a ThinkPad for warranty repair they said that would be OK with them but my unit would be put on a queue the same as if I'd shipped it in. They simply didn't offer walk-in, while you wait service.)
In the interim it may or may not be possible to reattach the key, even just temporarily, depending on whether it wasn't put on properly at the factory or if it's physically broken in some way. Or you could use an external keyboard until Lenovo sends you a replacement, etc.
I've just call the local service center, he told me that he can not repair individual key, they can just replace the whole keyboard..... How bad luck I am!!! -
We are trying to use test runner with dynamics CRM.
MS Dynamics CRM will freeze and will not respond (even after 10 - 15 minutes). When this happens, the test manager will either freeze or a message will apear saying "waiting for application under test".
We are not recording action recordings...This makes using test manager impossible. It happens consistently, starting with slowing the PC down (mouse moving slowly, slow to load in new screens, drop downs etc) eventually leading to the app freezing.
Tried on windows xp, windows 7 etc on various specs of pcs.I am experiencing this same issue with
Test runner freezing when used with Dynamics CRM. I notice this was first posted in June of 2010 and so far no
resolution? I was wondering if it could be related to memory issues? Do you have any troubleshooting ideas? The
issue for me seems to be sporadic and I can't
reproduce it every time.

[SOLVED] Getting freezes after using dwm for some time and exiting it
Hello, I have an Asus Ux51, with a fresh (less than a month) arch installation. If I recall correctly I had a couple of freezes in other occasions but I don't remember much about those so I rather focus on the only freeze I can more or less reproduce and I've been having lately. After using dwm for some time with a couple of programs opened (rTorrent, browser, and some terminals for instance), if I close dwm or just press the power button to shut down, it starts closing everything and either stays with a black screen, or hangs while X prints the log information. It's not always though, for example, if I just boot it, open dwm and close it without giving it much use it usually closes fine.
Tried googling a bit to see the usual ways to troubleshoot this but didn't get really far.

Found this recent thread in the forums, I'll give REISUB a try late, but the times it freezed I remember trying to blindly reboot it, or switching off virtual console and couldn't.
In case it's of any use, this is my # uname -a

Could it have something to do with the nvidia optimus setup that this laptop has? When installing arch I found out that there was no support yet for it so I'm just using the intel drivers (following what the arch wiki said).

Last edited by contiver (2013-08-16 20:25:34)I don't start st in my .xinitrc. I launch it from dmenu and usually everything is fine. If I launch it from dwm's internal command using Alt-Shf-Return, X freezes 100% of the time. A workaround was suggested by st's main developer to call st like this:

My ipad 2 freezes when using the internet. Re-starting the ipad fixes the problem but it is very annoying to have to do this. I have tried all of the trouble shooting suggestions including re-joining the network. All other laptops work fine on my network. I think there is something wrong with my new ipad.
I recommend two things before taking your iPad back to the Apple Store.
1. Fully close safari, by going to your home screen, then double tapping your home button to bring up your most recently used Apps. Using your finger, hold it on any of the used Apps until they jiggle. At this point, you'll see a to the top left of each App. Touch the sign on Safari, which will fully close it.
Then.......
2. Reboot your iPad. Press and hold BOTH the power and home buttons at the SAME time for at least 10 seconds (hold past the red slider to shut down) until the Apple Logo appears, then let go of both buttons and your iPad will restart. You won't lose any settings or data.
If that does not help, then make an appointment at the Apple store to have your iPad checked. -

Chris.I have the iTrip Universal one. The one that plugs into the headjack and not the 30pin port.
The phone gives off a lot of interference to devices that are made for the iPhone specifically.
However the Universal one (headjack one) while does get some interference, it works great and I listen to a lot of podcasts (and my music) on the way to work.
I can go for hours without interference depending where I am. I think I finally narrowed it down that I only get interference for certain things.
1. When call or txt comes in (but not when it checks mail on interval...odd)
2. When moving it and jumps from one tower to another. Along interstate doesn't happen much as I live where a tower has a long line of sight. In tall building areas, happens now and then. Never to the point it is unusable.
If I really want to stop interference I can always switch to Airplane Mode, but I never felt I had to (except when on family trip and the only person I care about calling is my wife and she is with me).
I tried the 30pin one and got more interference. I would recommend the Universal one (headjack one) since I haven't seen any from anybody that carry the "Made for iPhone" seal. -
Clock freezes after using Apple DVD Player
I am having a small and annoying issue with the Apple DVD Player (v 4.6.5). This just started happening recently. Everytime I run a DVD (or video TS file, etc) on the software player-it performs as usual. After quitting the application and choosing to eject the disc, I notice there is a longer lag from when I first used the computer, then the little colored wheel of death spins, and eventually Apple DVD Player closes.
The problem, however, is after the application is closed out, my time freezes in the status bar in the upper right hand corner of the screen. (As I write this it says 1:16 and the time in the apple "date and time" preferences panel of OSX says it's 2:14-which is the real time) If I drag the cursor up to the time status bar in the upper right hand corner, it turns into the spinning color wheel, and back again once dragged out.
Once the computer restarts, the time in the upper right goes back to normal with no spinning wheel (until I open Apple DVD Player and quit out of it again). I know this is not an earth-shattering issue, but it is fairly annoying and abnormal. If anyone has suggestions, please help.It sounds like you found your answer but I also wanted to mention that this is a known BUG when using DVD Player and the Digital Optical Out of a G5. If you look at activity monitor when the Clock is dead and you get the Beach Ball the SystemUIServer will be listed as not responding. If you Force quit this process everything should start working again. As long as the LoginWindow Process is running the SystemUIServer will restart when needed after the force quit.
HOWEVER, The other part of this bug with Digital Optical Out is that sometimes the LoginWindow Process will also stop responding. In this case a Log-Out is the only way to correct the problem. The third part of this bug is sometimes the Finder also stops responding but a Relaunch will fix that.
As I said it sounds like you found your problem but I wanted to post this incase others out there using the Digital Optical Out read this and don't correct their problem.
Also, If you were using the "DOO" by deleting the .plist will set the DVD player back to SYSTEM falsely making one think the problem is fixed.
Last I know this is a known bug because I submitted it as a bug to Apple and received an e-mail stating they know of this problem already. -
My MBP 2011 w Lion freezes after sleep with blue screen and other sleep issues
My MBP v2 of 2011 line with Lion on it freezes occassionally (maybe 1 out of 10 awakenings from sleep) where the screen is blue and only way to make it stop is to hold the power button and restart.
Another issue I have is I'll come out of sleep, and the wallpaper on my screen disappears, and I just see a gray background. If I go to Monitor preferences, it claims the wallpaper is set to my normal background. Restarting has the background display again.
Note: I often use a external monitor, so good chance these freezing issues happen when I unplug/plug in the external monitor (via DVI cable to DisplayPort converter to MBP)
Today I had a slightly different experience with the freezing. It had my second monitor have a bunch of pixelated garbage and a message about holding power button down and restarting. I restarted, and got a "your system has crashed unexpectedly" like message, so I told it to send the data to Apple.I used to have that problem as well, try going to system preferences and having the computer require a password after waking, worked for me.

After I updated the phone software, I am trying to use the GPS, it takes so long to connect thats if it ever connects, and whenever i just want to exit the Maps application, the whole phone just freezes. I tried re-installing the phone software but the same problem exists. so i tried turning off the gps before exiting and that worked. Do i always have to turn off the gps? cuz i really dont want to do that every time. and the gps doesnt connect anyway. it connected once and that was it. Please help cuz i really need the gps cuz i travel a lot and i really need the E90 cuz its got all i need. Thnx in advance TK

There has been a change in v30 firmware on N82 so may be similar issue with your E90 in that in "Positioning" > Posit. server - Default access point - there is no longer a "None" setting to de-activate Assisted GPS so it will continually search for a GPRS connection which may or may not be available. Have you checked that the same "Access point" is defined for "Posit. server" in "Positioning" as for "Internet" in Nokia Maps application?
If you don't have an available GPRS connection, you might need to disable Assisted GPS feature in "Positioning methods"

My Macbook freezes after using it for awhile
I startup my MacBook (aluminum 2008 verions) running lion 10.7.1 and after about 5 minutes of using it, my computer displays the rainbow cursor and freezes. I am unable to click on anything or force quit.
My processor is 2.4 Ghz and has 2Gb ram.
It would be great if someone could give me any thoughts ASAP as I have an assignment due next week and need my computer.

Reboot as usual (not in safe mode) if you haven't already done so. Launch the Terminal application, copy or drag -- do not type -- the line of text below into the window, and press return:

Next, do the same thing with this line:

Freezing after updating with a Sonnet 1.35 GHz card on a Sawtooth
yesterday I’ve installed (quickly & easily) a Sonnet Encore ST (1.35 GHz) card in my G4 Sawtooth (400 MHz). The Power Mac booted with no apparent problem as soon as the Mac was closed and switched on, with everything... from the OS to my usual programs running much faster and better.
However, since then it has also started to freeze at random, it happened once on Saturday and then 3 times today... the first time my wife was opening a couple of .doc files with Open Office, and then it was while browsing with either Safari or SeaMonkey, also always with Folding@home on and the last couple of time with Temperature Monitor open... and the temperature (of the hd only, od course) was either 33 or 34° C in both cases, meaning (I guess) the problem is neither overheating nor me running programs too demanding. And apart from these 3 freezings the Mac has been on and working most of the day without any other problem...
The card is used, but the previous owner told me he never had such problems... however he has been using the card first on a Power Mac G4 Digital Audio and later on a Quicksilver... maybe it’s the different bus speed of the Sawtooth causing these freezing problems?
However both in the instructions and on the case it’s clearly stated the cpu can be used on Sawtooth too...
When the Power Mac freezes I can only restart pushing the button on the tower... both the mouse and the keyboard are dead... and then it restarts incredibly fast and I can start working again... it takes a couple of minutes in all, but of course it’s still rather annoying, and I’d like to fix it.
The chap who gave me the card told me I should possibly reset the motherboard... any idea if it will work, and if yes, how can I do it?!?is it safe (for the cpu, I mean) opening the Power Mac when it's on? Or I should boot with leaving the door open?!? However I have just powered the Mac on, left it alone for 20 min with only Folding@home running, come back, open 2 windows on SeaMonkey... and the computer froze when closing down one window, and it took 3 restarts to boot this time: first time it just stuck at the grey screen with the darker shade of grey apple in the middle (with a strange grey horizontal line just over and left from the apple), 2nd restart it booted up to the desktop view, the mouse was working but I couldn't do anything apart from moving it around the screen, 3rd time is now... I don't think it's overheating (but still...). Thanks for the help.

Photoshop freezes after starting with white window
when I start Photoshop I see this after a few seconds. PS is then not responding and I have to force quit it.
One time I could see the window as "Participate to improve" but I couldn't click in it as PS freezes again.
Mac OSX Mountain Lion with all updates, freshly installed 2 days ago. Photoshop was installed two times by now. I already deleted the preferences to check if that helps, but same happen again. To be sure that it is not one of the custom brushes I re installed PS.
How can I get rid of the window or how can I solve this problem?

Curve 8330 Freezing After Using Desktop Manager
I recently downloaded and used the new Desktop Manager for Mac from RIM, and now my phone is freezing up. If I allow the screen to go dark the phone will freeze up and not respond, though it still recognizes the shift and alt keys (the icons appear in the upper right corner). I am at a loss for what to do. a hard or soft reset fixes it temporarily, but I don't have time to do a reset every time I want to use my phone.
Please help!!!

[Solved] Freeze after suspension with linux-ck
Hi all, like i said in the subject, my laptop freezes when I try to wake it up after suspension. I'm running a linux-ck-atom-3.17.3-2 on a eeepc1005PE with intel video drivers.
I read several others topics on the argument and it seems that there isn't a good solution (just change kernel), so i just wanted to point it out.
I tried to add to the kernel line
i915.i915_enable_rc6=0
but it didn't work at all.
Same problem with the offical kernel after the upgrade at the 3.17.3 version. With the 3.17.2 it's all ok, so just a downgrade works well. Everything works well also with the lts kernel.

adjust the /etc/pacman.conf file like here:

with pacman -Syu you will see then when kernel 3.17.4-1 comes and can try with that version

W520 Freeze After POST with 4TB USB3 Drive Connected to Dock
Our W520 PCs freeze right after BIOS POST and just before our PGP login screen whenever a 4TB USB drive is connected.
If I disable USB UEFI BIOS Support, it boots without freezing, but then my USB keyboard and mouse do not work.
I either have to boot fully into Windows outside of the dock, or unplug the USB 4TB drive.
I have the latest 1.39 BIOS. I see there was a prior BIOS fix for the same issue with 3TB drives. Can another fix be created?Schwing wrote:

If you boot with the drive unplugged from the W520, then plug it in after Windows is running, does it work properly then?
