Freezing computer after sleeping

I have the msi k7n2-G motherboard and I have freshly installed the drivers on a reformatted hard drive.  However once my computer goes to sleep, it quits responding.  I will move the mouse and press keyboard buttons but it will not wake up.  Therefore I have to reset my computer every time it does this.  I also installed the latest nforce and detonator drivers and I am still having the same problem.  Any help would be appreciated.  Thank you.

  • Freeze Up After Sleep Mode?

After selecting the sleep mode on my eMac, the computer appears to go into the sleep mode correctly. However, when attempting to resume operation, my background picture appears, but the cursor is missing, and the computer appears to be frozen (ie: no inputs from the keyboard or trackball mouse allowed). I have to shut down the computer with the power button, and restart. Everything is then normal, until the next attempt to go into the sleep mode. Any suggestions? Thanks in advance, O' computer gurus!

The computer is still freezing up after selecting the sleep mode. What follows is (1) the console report after restart. And (2) the Console report after repairing permissions on the hard drive. Does anything stand out here?

  • Freezing up after sleep mode

I have a Toshiba R700 PT31OA-05NO1 and I am experiecing a freezing problem after I wake the computer form sleep mode: I put it into sleep mode (in the shut down options), later I wake it my pressing the power button, I type in my password, and when I press ENTER it freezes, cursor stops flashing, and I have to hard shut down to get it going again.
My model doesn't have the finger print recogntion software, so the the solution to the other freezing post can't be applicable here. I have recently downloaded software, though nothing out of the ordinary - anti-spyware/virus, media player, SlySoft (AnyDVD and CloneDVD), Utorrent...
    Any suggestions?
    Thanks,
    Joshua

You could try following the advice and steps on this link and see if it helps:
System hangs waking-up from sleep mode
You do not mention whether you're running the Windows 7 32bit, or 64bit version, or?  Regardless, at the top is the link to your downloads page.  Download and install the Intel Display Driver for the OS version you are running.
As well, there is a 'NEW' BIOS update v1.90 from March 01, 2011. So, if you haven't already, you should also download and install this update. Download the BIOS update to your desktop. Double click on it, and create the bootable CD to update & backup your BIOS. Then reboot with the CD in the drive, and boot off the CD. Update and backup your BIOS, and your machine will probably shut down after. Then restart off the hard drive into Windows.

Please let us know what happens. Good Luck.

I am assuming that this is related to my slow computer after waking from sleep.  Every click has delayed reaction up to spinning beach ball in length.  Went to console log and see this same message repeating over and over and over.  What does it mean?  How do I fix it?  Is it related to the slowdown?
    Thanks

Ok...  Sometimes Mail will abort the restart that I am trying to do to get the system back to normal speed so I was wondering about that "plug-in" which appears to be more than a plug in.  It put a bundle in my Library/Mail folder that can't be deleted...
Here is my log now which starts showing errors as soon as I reboot... I am backing up now.  It seems that there should be something that I could remove without a clean install, but I can't figure it out from this....Thanks for the insight...

  • Computer Freezes in/after sleep after installing OSX 10.9.2

OSX seems finally to have broken my laptop. If it goes to sleep or I put it to sleep, one of two things happens: In the middle of its nap it abruptly reboots, returning me to the login screen; or when I wake the computer up, it is to an immobile screen and I'm forced to shut down/reboot the computer manually just to get to where I was.
This, combined with the various and continuing glitches in the Mail.app has just about convinced me to go back to OS 10.8.x and leave Mavericks well alone. Considering how stable the computer was under the previous iteration, this is really discouraging.
But I am curious if anyone else is experiencing the same reliability issues.

  • IPod classic freezing computer after restore

My iPod had to be reformatted from mac to windows. I went to the iPod front page and clicked restore and it went through the restore process fine. When it was finished my iTunes locked up so i reset my computer. When I turned it back on it started fine then froze iTunes again when I plug the thing in. I went to my computer and it wasn't able to actually get into the iPod, it was showing up as drive "I" already and I have no other peripherals attached. I reset my computer again, updated iTunes and plugged in my other iPod. This one worked fine, transfered songs correctly and what not. Tried the other one and it's still freezing. What the **** happened? It's an iPod classeic 30g serial: 8K6322JEWEJ

When i start plug it in after disabling iTunes from starting when I plug it in I'm able to browse it through my computer. I formatted it and then it showed up in iTunes again. When i restored it again it is back to doing the same thing, even on another computer with a completely fresh install of iTunes.

  • 2007 iMac keeps freezing mostly after sleep mode, but now does it randomly

Coming out of sleep mode it does it every couple of days. Recently it has done while I have been watching a movie. I have restored from scratch and reinstalled Mountain Lion. I don't have many apps running at the same time for I only have 4 gigs (the machine maxed out), so I don't know what else it could be and I do not know how to read the log. I am attaching a copy of the log from when I had to manually shut it down and turn it back on. I hope someone can help me. Oh and I have also cleared the SMC according to instructions on this community with no avail. Thank you guys in advance.

  • Please help!!  iPod freezing computer *after* restoring

I'm really hoping someone can help me. My 4G 40G iPod starting acting up last week. It was not showing up in iTunes, though it did show up in My Computer. After trying the normal fixes (resetting, changing to disk mode, etc.), I decided it was time once again to restore the thing (which I've done on 2 occassions since purchasing in Dec. 2004). Everytime I tried to run anything on the computer while the iPod was connected, the computer froze. I couldn't delete the drive from My Computer, I couldn't get the Updater to initialize to allow a restore, nada. I found instructions to run diagnostics manually, and everything passed. I finally gave up. It was still playing music and I just started charging the battery externally.
My husband connected it to the computer tonight and it suddenly showed up in iTunes. I took the opportunity to retore it, which worked. Everything seemed fine until I went to connect it to the computer again (after installing the firmware, or whatever) and it's doing the same old thing - only this time I don't have any music on it. Please help! I can't afford to buy another @#%#* iPod or to let my husband start taking mine to work everyday. Has anyone had this problem or can you solve it?

If your iPod shows up in Explorer under 'my computer' try changing the drive letter:
    -- Click on Start=>Control Panel=>Admin Tools=>Computer Management=>Disk Management
-- Right-Click on the iPod and select “change drive letter”
-- Choose something further along in the alphabet that is unused (Usually, “M”, “N”, “O” or something similar)
    -- Safely eject the iPod
    -- Reboot the PC

  • Windows 7 won't wake up after sleep

I'm got a new Dell XPS 9000 desktop running Windows 7.   The system is set up to automatically shut down the display after 30 minutes and then put the computer is sleep after 2 hours.  That works fine, however, when trying to wake up the computer after sleep, I heard the fan starting up, but nothing else happens.  No display ever comes up.  I am forced to shut the computer off (using the power button) and then restart it.  When it does start up, it's resuming from sleep mode.
There have been a number of postings about Windows 7/sleep problems, but they are all a little different.
    Anyone have any thoughts?
    Thanks.

Just curious why drives would need to be updated.   This computer was just shipped to me.   Have not checked BIOS yet.  What setting need to be set for sleep?
Hybrid sleep was already turned off.   Ran the powercfg -energy.   There were lots of errors.  Not sure how to interpret this document.

  • After 10.7.3 Update, computer freezes out of sleep

I have two computers a new MacBook Pro 13" - 8GBs RAM and a 2x2.66 GHz 6 - Core Intel Xeon (12 core). I have updated both computers today to 10.7.3 Immediately after updating I noticed that both computers are freezing (wheel of death) after coming out of sleep mode. this is happening on both computers.
When I have something open and I come out of sleep and try to do anything, move a page, close a page, anything, it freezes. I have to either Force Quit the program and even sometimes Force Quit doesn't work so I have to Force Shut down the computer.
Anyone else having the same problem?

    Hi all
    I have a 27ins iMac, 3.06 Ghz core 2 duo, 4GB ram.
Like Jim, I am suffering freezes after sleep since installing 10.7.3. No wheel of death, just frozen. No keyboard, mouse or trackpad input at all.
Only solution to is to power off and restart.
My mac has never missed a beat before, but I now feel as though I have gone back 15 years to a windows pc.
Fingers starting to automatically reach for alt ctrl delete
    Help please???

  • Freezing up after latest 10.5 update when restarting computer or waking fro

Freezing up after latest 10.5 update when restarting computer or waking from sleep. Is anyone else seeing this?

I am having the same problem with the screen not waking up after it goes to sleep. Once I was able to recover with pressing the power button just long enough to wake it but not restart. The other two times I had to power down and restart -- I also got the jagged screen graphics once.
I have been experiencing this since I installed the 10.5.3 update. It seems to be ok if I put the computer to sleep using 'Sleep' on the Apple menu, but if my screen saver comes on and it goes to sleep on its own, then I have problems waking it.
Frustrating - I don't like to power down and restart my iMac if I can avoid it.

  • IMac 2007 freezes after sleep and then can't find hard drive after reboot.

I'm having a problem where my mid 2007 iMac (2.4 GHz core duo w/ 6 Gb of ram) freezes after sleep.  It seems to happen only when an application was open at the time of sleep.  The freeze manifests as the cursor turns into the spinning wheel, but the computer can't do anything.  Command-option escape doesn't work.  Most of the time after I reboot, the iMac can't find the hard drive.  If I leave the computer off for 15 minutes then it will reboot ok.  Is my hard drive going out or do I have another problem?  I'm running Mountain Lion 10.8.5.  I've repaired permissions, verified the hard drive and reset the NVram but I still have the problem.

  • IMac freezing on Safari, Mail, itunes after sleeping

I've had a problem for the past 4 days with my iMac freezing mainly when on Safari, Mail, iTunes...
It happens most times after it sleeps, then I can't quite and have to force quite, then it won't restart or shut down
I have to force shut down... It will then reboot ok and work ok for so long then goes again mainly after sleeping.
When for example Safari fails, Firefox still works fine?!
I've gone into the disk utility and verified the permissions and checked the drive. all ok!
and I've reset the RAM and totally unplugged the iMac.
I've read on some post advising not to reinstall and it's a software issue and should wait for the next update?
Is anybody having the same problem?
