Freezing Freeview TV on Qosimos in the UK

Hi All,
I have read all the threads on the problem of freezing Freeview digital TV .
This is a very serious issue here in the UK.
It happens on all Qosimo's with the Hybrid DVB-T Tuner. How can it be a Transmitter problem, when other computers [Media Centre] with DVB-T cards work fine?
This needs to be sorted out and I hope Toshiba don't let us down !
Nearly all main UK Digital Transmitters are on Horizontal Polarisation and will remain so after 2012 with the relay transmitters mainly on vertical polarisation.
I am not convinced it has anything do with polarisation how come other cards and pcs work fine!
OTHERWISE THE QOSIMO'S MACHINES ARE GREAT .
So lets hit this one on the head !

I understood that you are a little bit disappointed about this but to find a universal solution is not so easy like you think. I have phoned with one Toshiba guy and he explained me the whole situation on this way:
The TV tuners in Qosmio units are much complex as TV tuners in TV boxes that are designed for digital signal only. Qosmio TV tuner is designed for analog and digital signal receiving and must be also arrange to work with Toshiba designed Qosmioplayer. DVB technology is pretty new and many users don't know exactly how it work and that there are many, but really many, factors that can be responsible for different kind of problems. The fact is that Qosmios sold in whole Europe have the same TV tuner but those claims comes just from UK. Obviously is there some specific problem.
DVB-T technology is used very successfully in Nordic countries but till now Toshiba didn't get any claims from there. On this forum you can also find just some users from UK.
The very interesting thing is that DVB-T transmitters using for their transmission the COFDM modulation (Coded Orthogonal Frequency Division Multiplex). These transmitters are using either 2K or the 8K transmission mode.
? 2K mode:2048 possible carrier, effective 1704 used
? 8K mode: 8192 possible carrier, effective 6817 used
The 2K mode has not a strong depth of coverage (e.g. 17 km from the transmitter, by using 8K mode 67-34 km). The 2K mode is more suitable for mobile reception (support receiving signal up to 300km/h), in comparison the 8K mode support receiving a signal approximately by tempo of 92-112km/h). This is possibly not so much important for you but it is just for info.
Interesting is that 2K mode is used in UK but not in many other countries. The hardware designers work on this to find a universal solution and I believe that it is not easy to design TV tuner for UK only. With every new technology there are problems that must be corrected and it is really not unusual that it can take a longer period of time.

I have Windows 7 and just recently experienced a problem with itunes freezing up when I clicked on the "apps" tab. Everything else seems to work okay in itunes. I have uninstalled it and reloaded it 4 or 5 times, but still freezes up.

Everything else in the itunes software seems to be working okay. The problem is in the part where you sync the newly purchased apps. The apps will all be blank that are downloaded and that part of the software crashes itunes or freezes up. I can get out of itunes okay after the freeze up, but it just stops me from syncing anything that I have newly added. If anyone has had this problem before or knows someone that has, please let me know how I can fix it. I have uninstalled and reloaded itunes 4 or 5 times, but the problem is still there. I might add that I have been using itunes and purchasing apps for 2 to 3 years without any problems. HELP.

IMac 24" freezes on boot about 50% of the time

My iMac freezes on bootup about 50% of the time. The freeze occurs prior to getting to the login password screen (the screen is blue when the Mac freezes). Holding down the power button to hard-shutdown the Mac works, and then typically on the next boot, the Mac does not freeze. I noticed that when it does finally finish booting correctly, the Boot Camp partitioned drive takes a long time restore to the desktop ... about a solid minute or two longer than when Finder finishes loading.
The problem has been going on for months, but seems to be getting worse. Using Disk Utility identifies NO errors on either the Mac or Windows boot partitions.
I have the OS up to date with all the latest patches.

Go to System Preferences/Account. Click: Login Items. If you have applications listed there to launch on boot, for now, delete them and reboot and see if that makes a difference.
Try maintenance. Mac OS X: How to force background maintenance tasks (logs and temporary items)
Go to System Preferences/Software Updates. Click Scheduled Check then click: Check Now
Make sure your Mac software is up to date. If you install and updates, make sure and run Disk Utility and Repair Disk Permissions after the updates are installed. Launch Disk Utility. (Applications/Utilities) Select MacintoshHD in the panel on the left, select FirstAid, then click: Repair Disk Permissions. Quit DU when it's finished and reboot.
How much available disk space is there? Right or control click the MacintoshHD icon on your Desktop, then click: Get Info. In the Get Info window, click the discovery triangle so it's facing down. You will see; Capacity and Available Make sure you have 10% available disk space, 15% is better. Insufficient available space, can cause performance issues, system corruption, and possible loss of data. Not enough available disk space can slow a drive down considerably.

Thank you for your detailed question. It sounds like the real issue is pdf files. Are there any antivirus/firewalls that might be blocking this specific file type? or are there any preferences in your control panel that might be blocking this?
Do you have any stored preferences for PDF files in Firefox?

What version of OS X are you using? If Yosemite, you need to update to 10.10.1 or higher.

As for question #2, you call tell how iTunes is sorting songs by the up or down arrow next to a header name.
Even the original order that the songs were entered or date added or last played can be sorted.
Much easier with a mouse or touch pad.

Inititally the "progress" bar would get to about 1/2 way and then it would stop and stall. However, now the progress bar no longer shows a progress line it immediately freezes and locks up. You may have damaged the library - Back up your iPhoto library, Depress and hold the option (alt) and command keys and launch iPhoto - rebuild your iPhoto library

[Solved] Intermittent freezing with no apparent errors in the logs

The freezing occurs without warning, and affects the whole user interface. After a few minutes, it will unfreeze for a few seconds, then freeze again. This repeats ad nauseam. The most recent time this happened, I had quite a few applications open and I decided to close them one by one during the unfreezes to see if any one of them was the culprit, but nothing was apparent.

As you can see, my sysreq keys work fine even during the freeze. I've also noticed that any audio that I am playing when the system freezes continues to play normally. I'm on a 32 bit install running gnome-shell with the proprietary nvidia drivers. The freeze started when I opened a webpage with a flash video on it. I thought that flash might be the problem, but I don't think so now since 1) it wasn't the first flash video I've viewed and 2) killing the browser didn't fix the freezing problem.

Try a reset. Hold the Sleep and Home button down for about 10 seconds until you see the Apple logo. Ignore the red slider.

If the Reset and the Restart have not Resolved the Issue...
