Freezing iMac G5 with random red and black pixels, HELP!

Hello all, and thanks in advance for helping. Here's my dilemma: I have a 20" iMac G5 that I have been using for 2-3 years or so. I recently started doing less work on it, as I replaced it with a new 24" iMac, so now it is used for one or two programs as well as occasional internet use. The system began to become slower, then finally started freezing between minimal tasks, even something as simple as pressing TAB in Safari, to trying to make a new folder in iPhoto. We restarted a bunch of times, and even tried clearing the PRAM. Now, it freezes during the start-up and there's little red and black boxes (small, maybe 4x4 or 6x6 worth of pixels) appearing randomly on the screen. When we are able to get the system to start, after one or two small tasks (opening the Address Book, or starting Safari) the program freezes, the pinwheel starts spinning, and I lose any chance to do anything more on the computer without powering down. Same deal going on here. It's been a while since I last posted - meaning no problems (which is goooood). So here is the issue:
Would stop at blue screen before loading to main screen. Minor repair on HD volume, and now freezes on main screen very quickly, after booting past blue screen. A few wierd pixels are seen, which lets me know that it has frozen.
Here's what I did:
Hardware check with utility - no problems found, including logic board. From the manual, it seems like it is a software issue.
As before, I repaired a few permissions and minor repair on HD volume. Still not working.
Also opened up my vents and carefully vacuumed the dust - fans were spinning hard. Still, not working.
My next step is to do an archive & install. I'm not sure how to backup my files, so this will have to suffice. This leads me to my questions:
Q1 - How do you burn a backup, without an external HD and without being able to get past my main screen?
Q2 - I noticed a post before this one, concerning the same issue, with Miriam posting on it. Is it overkill to post the same problem/question in another thread in order to maximize the chances for a good response? Any suggestions Miriam?

(PS - will let you know how the archive/install goes. If it doesn't work, I may pay to back my files on disc, and then I'll try reformatting HD altogether. Again, will let you know how it goes).
(PS2 - Not sure if this matters, but my imac was one the ones that needed the free extended warranty for the capacitor issues - identified by the serial numbers. Doubt that's the problem since it was working fine after repairs).

Is there a way to convert a Word document with Red and Black into Spot colors in Acrobat X?

Customer sent us PDF files created in MS Word. Of course, Word creates CMYK versions of colors. I need the red text and black text converted into spot colors for 2 color output on press. Is there a way to do this? I saw another thread that said there is a Fixup in the Print Production/Preflight section of Acrobat X that has a convert to Spot, but I'm not seeing that. All I see is Convert to CMYK. I'm using Acrobat X 10.1.13 on OS X. Any help would be appreciated. He also sent the Word docs so I can drop that into InDesign and reformat the whole thing and fix the colors myself but if I can do it in Acrobat, that would be a lot quicker. Thanks!

Frequently in this scenario the red will be 100% of either magenta or yellow with 0% black. In these cases you can merely plate the Black & Magenta (or yellow) for press.
I've created a Preflight Fixup on occasion for these also.
An example shown - Note it requires the document is cmyk. MS Files will be rgb. You could create a Preflight looking for rgb colors.
With Fixup tab selected - Options > Create New Fixup > Type of Fixup - search for Spot in the field

I ordered and received an iMac 27 with an SSD and it looks great. Unfortunately it freezes up often and it has to be rebooted or sometimes it unfreezes by itself. I wonder how may others have this experience. Mine is being returned tomorrow.

This beautiful iMac27 has great specifications, but does not function properly. The brand new computer keeps freezing up. The cursor can be moved but has no effect on any of the widows that are open. Some times it unfreezes all by itself after a while. I looked up this issue on the net and it appears that I am not the only one having this problem. Lugging the computer to an Apple store for service and not being able to replicate the problem when the technician tries it, will be very frustrating (as it has happened to several other owners). As such, I am returning the computer immediately and keep watching the discussion boards to see if this problem gets fixed before I place my order again. I will greatly appreciate if any one with this problem (freezing up) has come up with a real soultion by themselves or through technical help from Apple.

Where did you find this information? It's rare that a brand new iMac would freeze up like you are describing.
Did you install anti virus software?
Or an an called MacKeeper?

Check login items.
Open System Preferences > Users & Groups > Login Items. Remove all items.
Same for HD > Library > StartupItems
Then restart your iMac to test.
You have 14 days from the date you received the iMac for an exchange or refund. And your iMac comes with a one year limiited warranty.

IMac starts with fan, screen stays black

When attempting to start my iMac G5 (Ambient Light Sensor), fans come on but screen stays black. A couple minutes later, the fans rev up and run very quickly and loudly. This started happening when:
1. One day the screen showed a green question mark with a message indicating that the computer needed to be restarted in a box
2. Green lines were all across the screen
3. I forced it to shut down by holding down the power button
4. When I attempted to start it back up the fans started but the screen stayed black
5. After a couple of minutes, the fans revved up
This has been happening ever since. One time the computer started to the desktop but everything was frozen. I have reset the PMU, checked the diagnostic LEDs, reset the PRAM-basically everything suggested. Can anyone help? Thanks!

Strongly recommend that you update to OS 10.4.11. Your system info confirms you are still using the basic Tiger OS.

I thought before maybe its Bluetooth related as sometimes when screen would turn black and then come back, I would get a 'Bluetooth Device Not Discoverable'. So turned off Bluetooth in the BIOS, but still having display/sleep issues.
I removed hte Lenovo Power Manager/PM Driver, and turned off sleeping in the Windows power settings (in every setting including if Low Battery Action). Any ideas?
I just upgraded to a 3 year warranty (the more expensive one), should i just ask to replace mobo/cpu/memory again or will Lenovo actually test it for other issues?

Well my issue wasn't an external monitor... it would goto sleep by itself when Im trying to write code/programming... then randomly wake and go back to sleep up constantly ruining workflow (or wait a few hours Im sleeping at odd times in the morning lol). or the monitor would turn black suddenly. I think I tested via external monitor but didn't matter what result was, the random sleeping issues indicated a larger issue.
It was a crimped connector the 1st time it went back to Lenovo. the past 4/5 times its gone back i think they are stumped. For me, Im honestly not sure... it might be the OS is on a mSATA instead of the regular hard drive and Windows doesnt know how to handle that hardware.
Their newer W540 manual seems to indicate do an OS on mSATA at your expense.
Do you have an mSATA OS? Anyway, thats a very small chance. not sure.

Test runner freezing when used with Dynamics CRM (and other apps) - Both applications freeze and never come back...

We are trying to use test runner with dynamics CRM.
MS Dynamics CRM will freeze and will not respond (even after 10 - 15 minutes). When this happens, the test manager will either freeze or a message will apear saying "waiting for application under test".
We are not recording action recordings...This makes using test manager impossible. It happens consistently, starting with slowing the PC down (mouse moving slowly, slow to load in new screens, drop downs etc) eventually leading to the app freezing.
Tried on windows xp, windows 7 etc on various specs of pcs.

My iMac is 21.5 2009 with 500gb. I would just like some idea before I take it up to them. It's almost certain that the HD is fried can not boot to external can not get off white screen by doing all Apples checks for white screen. I have the same iMac as you but with a 1 TB hard drive.
Apple replaced the 1 TB hard drive of iMacs manufactured between October 2009 and July 2011 because of problems. When I took my iMac, the Genius gave me the bill (even if the repair was free) and the 1 TB hard drive cost about $100. This was with a 1 TB Seagate hard drive, so the cost for a 500 GB hard drive may be smaller, depending on the brand

in the first step i do create a random number between 3 and 8 which is stored to a variable.

Lets assume myVAR1 is 5
Now i want to select 5 numbers out of number pool from 1 to 8. Each number should be pickable only once.
How would i realize that ?
I guess i need some kind of pool, array and then select 5 out of this array, but i am not sure about the syntax.
In best case i would like to add probabilities to those 8 numbers in the pool.
i.e.

Good question. Not sure about iDVD. But I know for a fact I can use random transitions within DVDSP. However, if I'm not mistaken in iDVD I may be limited to the same transition within any given slideshow. I know it's possible to bring in an album into iDvd. And I know it's possible to use KB effects. But let me do some more searching for you because I forgot the exact procedure/s. I'll post back here later.

You would have to purchase these separately through either the Mac App Store, Microsoft or through a third party software sales vendor.
OR you can purchase through the Mac App Store iWork suite of apps that includes Pages (word processor/page layout app) Numbers ( spreadsheet app) and Keynote ( slide and audio/video presentation software).
