Freezing of an asset

What is the configuration for freezing of assets or shut down of an asset in a Global Template SAP 5.0 version?
Thanks & Regards,
Divya

Hi,
You can utilize the Asset Shutdown feature on the Time-dependent tab of the asset master record.
Select the Asset Shutdown checkbox - create a time interval - Save.
If you cannot find the checkbox, it could be hidden :-
In AS02 click Environment -> Screen Layout -> Master data
Select the Screen Layout and click Logical Field groups
Select 3 - Time-dependent and click Field group rules
Tick Opt, Mnno and Sbno - Save
Optionally, you can set the Depreciation key in the Deprecation Area Tab.
You can also change the depreciation key to '0000' (No depreciation and no interest) for each of your depreciation books. Just make sure you have run depreciation up through the current month before doing so. When you are ready to put the asset back into service, reset the keys to their original values. The system will calculate no depreciation during the months where you have the key set to '0000'

  • Freezes when importnig assets.

OK, DVD Studio Pro freezes whenver I try to import assets. It seems to do it to different assets at different times. I'm trying to import mpeg-2 files compressed using compressor. Any ideas?

Is it really freezing, or is it spending time 'parsing' the assets you are giving it (check to see by opening up the assets tab sideways and looking for the 'progress' bar)? How are you importing... through the assets tab or by drag/dropping files into the assets tab... or are you using the file inspector window?

  • Depreciation freeze for some asset for some months.

    Hi
assets have been capitalized on 01.01.2012 and depreciation has been run for 1 and 2 month now the cleint requirement is that, they want to stop depreciation for some assets up to April and calculate the depreciation again from 01/05/2012. Please suggest what should we customize for this issue.
Your feedback would be highly appreciated.

    Hi Danish,
One possibility is to use Shut Down feature.. and the other is using a depreciation key 0000, which is a time dependent depreciation feature and is available only from ECC 6.0 EHP4 onwards..
Before EHP4, if u use depreciation Key 0000, system reverses the entire epreciation posted in that year in that particular month, but from EHP4 onwards, system does not reverse if you use 0000 depreciation key, but only posts Zero depreciation for those months when you have applied 0000, As soon as you restore your original depreciation keys, it will again post normally..
    Hope this helps..

  • Re-Freeze needed for older versions

I'm finding that different (older) versions of the same project saved in the same overall project folder sometimes, on loading, need to re-freeze ... when they were already frozen when originally saved.
Say I want to re-listen to the mix on version 10 of a project and I've worked through to version 18.
Version 18 has a freeze structure which may be different to the freeze structure of version 10.
But I thought I saved version 10 with all its appropriate freeze-files so why should it need to re-freeze? (Tine-consumin!)
Can anyone explain what's happenin here?

Well, I don't think it's a time-dependent thing. I just checked a Logic song file whose tracks I froze on 2009, September 30, when I bounced the tune and sent it out for mastering. I haven't opened the file since then, and the freeze files are still there in the "Freeze Files" folder inside the project folder. (The last time I worked on that file I was using Logic v7.2.3...not that it should matter.)
Anyhow, there's one data point. A song file that's over three years old, and the freeze files are still there, right where they're supposed to be.
Just to be sure I know how it works in Logic v9.1.7, I froze a track on a new song (version 03) that previously had no freeze files, and then I confirmed that Logic created the "Freeze Files" folder, and wrote the freeze file to that folder. After that, I unfroze the track, and sure enough, Logic deleted the freeze file. So if you're unfreezing the tracks, the freeze files vanish. But you probably knew that. I then refroze the track, and confirmed that the freeze file was there again.
I then saved the song as a separate project (version 04), but Logic did not create a freeze file folder for the new project. However, as soon as I attempted to play the new song file, then Logic created the "Freeze Files" folder and wrote the freeze file into that folder. So it appears that if you create a new version of the song as its own project, Logic wants you to play the song at least once to create new freeze files for that new project. It doesn't refer back to the freeze files of the previous version, or automatically include those freeze files as assets for the new project, even if you've checked the "Include assets" checkbox during the Save As... operation (which I did).
I went back and looked in the v.03 project folder, and the freeze file is still there. So I suspect that if you freeze your tracks, then save the song as a new version in its own project folder, and then play it to create new freeze files for that new version, Logic should keep the freeze files...er, unless you unfreeze the tracks, of course. The freeze files for the previous version should remain unmolested in their own project folder's "Freeze Files" folder. That's the way it works for me, at least.
If it's not working that way, you might have discovered a bug. Can you replicate the unwanted behavior?

  • How to lock versions to prevent inadvertent modification?

When I process valuable images in Aperture I like to use versions to capture different stages of the editing process. From such a version I may then derive one or more further variants either for different purposes or for comparison of different processing options. At some point I obtain one or more versions that I consider final. It would be very useful to be able to lock or "freeze" versions (not only the final ones) in that procedure in order to prevent them from being inadvertently modified.
I could not figure out how to do that, does anybody have a solution?
    Thanks for any advice.

Thanks for the colour coding hint Léonie and Kirby Krieger. This can probably alleviate the issue and I will try it out (and provide Apple feedback).
I certainly agree with the remarks on the relativity of the "final" attribute. In any case for me the locking feature would be of more value for intermediate versions in which certain adjustments have been finalised but more work is necessary. I have the situation that starting from an intermediate version I want to compare several alternatives of rather subtle further adjustments, each of which, however, may take (me) quite some time to perform. When looking at the different alternatives in the browser view, they are so similar that you hardly can distinguish them. Here it may easily happen that when one wants to continue to work, the wrong version is selected and you do not realise immediately. This may be particularly relevant when the work had to be interrupted for quite some time. Again I admit that systematic usage of color coding can help.
May be that my desire for a locking feature relates to my experience in the software field where you certainly want (and usually have the ability) to freeze your digital assets when you consider them to be in state that you want keep or return to, independent of whether you later derive further versions from those frozen assets. To me this appears to be a reasonable mechanism for any kind of digital asset library, even if it does not require too much time to recover from accidental changes.

  • Freeze the partial depreciation for asset

    Dear Expert,
We have special scenario for asset depreciation. In China, the assetu2019s retirement need waiting for government inspection & approval. The requester to do the physical scrap when we got the approval, and then the asset accountant will retire this asset in SAP system.
In the period of waiting of approval, the asset needs to stop the depreciation. We can shutdown or change depky 0000 for depreciation freeze, but these methods will freeze all NBV which mean the entire asset has not depreciation, but we think freeze the partial NBV and the remainder NBV still has depreciation in future.
    For example,
    Asset A - 01/31/2009     GAV  $100   AD $50     NBV $50
This asset needs the partial scrap for $20 on 02/01/2009.
    Asset A - 02/01/2009     GAV $100   AD $50     NBV $30 * 20$ will be froze.
Just need to your help,  What method can carry out this result in SAP?
    Thanks.

    Hi,
You can use the cutoff value key and assign it in the depreciation key and in turn assign it in asset master,in your case the cutofff key would be defined as 20%. (if you want you can create a new dep key and assign it to the specific asset)
doing this will make sure that after NBV of the asset is $20, depreciation will not be carried out.
    hope this clarifies youe query.
    Regards,
    J

  • When updating assets, Muse freezes.

I'm trying to change pictures in a slideshow. When Muse auto updates all new assets, the bar shows about 25% done, and then stops. If I manually update one at a time, it shows 100%, but the bar/window just sits there.
I tried deleting the slideshow, and adding a new one, but if I add anything, I get an error 2124.
Using a Mac, latest Muse version (just updated before I started working),

A 2124 may indicate a file linked to is damaged or of an unsupported file type.
Please click on the first item in the Assets panel then scroll down and shift click on the last item (so all assets in the panel are selected) and then right click and choose "Optimize Asset Size". For a large file with many assets, this process may take several minutes to complete.
Does the optimization complete, or does some error occur?
There are many services for sharing/sending large files. Most have free offerings for limited use (i.e. Dropbox, Adobe SendNow, WeTransfer, SendThisFile, YouSendIt, etc.) It will be very time consuming to diagnose the root cause of this problem without the file.

  • What is the problem with Adobe Creative Cloud Premiere Pro CC 2014, why it freezes often?

I Purchased the Adobe Creative Productive Premium Suite CS5 in early 2010 and I was very satisfied with it all this time, I can say that I never had a problem while using any of the Production Premium applications. Few weeks ago, I asked Mr. Philip Bloom about a technical issue regarding the best method to use a 50 FPS clip with a 23.976 FPS project, and I got his kind help but he recommended me too that I should upgrade to the latest Adobe Cloud CC 2014 which has many new features added to the different programs. I took his kind advice and downloaded a trial version of all the Adobe Cloud CC programs which I use for my filmmaking business.
Today is the 20th day of my trial period and I have 10 days left to take the decision of continuing with CC 2014 or not. The past 20 trial days were not very pleasant. I want you to share with me the following details which I'll list them as bullet points and I would appreciate diagnosing the problem if you can and suggest a solution for it  to re-try the Adobe Cloud CC 2014 for the 10 remaining days with no further problems.
I used to have the Gigabyte graphics card GTX 470 for about 4 years and it malfunctioned last year and I replaced it with a humble Geoforce GT 610 card, but it worked fine with the Adobe Suite CS5 programs.
My system configuration is Intel Core I7   950@  3.07GHz , installed memory 12 GB. , Windows 7 Ultimate, 64 bit Service pack 1, 3 hard drives 1TB. each (one of them is dedicated for Adobe asset files and the editing work)
For the first 2 or 3 days I used mainly the Premiere Pro CC 2014 establishing short projects for a max. of 5 minutes each and it was working normal. But, later, as soon as I started to build a project which reached about 24 minutes of length and I began to edit those before I add more clips to the timeline, unfortunately, the PrPro CC 2014 started to freeze on any of the frames every time I try to edit normally as I used to do with the CS5, so, I had to wait for 2 or 3 minutes every time it freezes, then it works for seconds then freezes again!!  and during the 20 days mentioned above it crashed once.
The movie files of my project are the Nikon's .Mov files and the editing work which I performed included effects such as Color correction (levels) color correction (fast) color correction (Auto) sharpen effect, and stabilizing effect.
I installed the Magic Bullets Suite trial version, and the Neat Video trial version, aiming to purchase either the DeNoiser or the Neat Video (but I tried their effects without saving them to the project).
I used to export parts/ or whole project before finalizing the editing process to be able to monitor on a TV screen (mp4 file format) some of the changes I made in PrPro before being freezed.
Based on my previous 5 years experience using the CS5 Suite I have a strong trust in Adobe, I never thought the problem was in the PrPro application, but rationally I thought it was the graphic card (GT610), and accordingly I purchased yesterday a new Zotac Geoforce GTX 770 (listed by Adobe as an approved card) and I installed it and checked that it is running fine and I checked the processor temperature which was within the normal level.
Only today, I began to think that it might be something wrong with the Adobe Cloud CC 2014 ( a bug or something) and as a result of searching on the internet I could see lot of users since 2014 who were having freezes and crashes with the CC and the CC 2014 versions. That was a shock for me, could it be that until Feb. 2015 the same severe problem still occurs???
Sorry for any inconvenience, looking forward to seeing a solution for that serious problem.

"The most basic information that SMART provides is the SMART status. It provides only two values: "threshold not exceeded" and "threshold exceeded". Often these are represented as "drive OK" or "drive fail" respectively. A "threshold exceeded" value is intended to indicate that there is a relatively high probability that the drive will not be able to honor its specification in the future: that is, the drive is "about to fail". The predicted failure may be catastrophic or may be something as subtle as the inability to write to certain sectors, or perhaps slower performance than the manufacturer's declared minimum."

  • Recently upgraded from Firefox 3.6.13 to Firefox 13 - freezes when trying to open

I've been using firefox 3.6.13 for some time now; the reason I have such an older version is because it's for a work computer, and an upgrade to newer versions generally isn't seamless and can interrupt the process of work.
Any way, I find some down time and decided that I'd upgrade to the latest version of firefox. Every thing seemed to install fine, and it copied over all of my addons apparently (which I'm grateful for). How ever, when opening up Firefox it opens and displays two tabs saying "connecting", but nothing happens beyond that. It just freezes completely providing the "waiting" icon when hovering over it. I tried waiting 10+ minutes for what ever process was holding up to complete, but nothing happened. In order to close out of firefox I need to kill the process in task manager.
I've tried uninstalling and reinstalling, but the same issue occurs. I tried looking for previous, more stable, versions of firefox but couldn't find any thing.

Problems with Flash content can be caused by a recent Flash 11.3 update.

  • Power Mac G5 PPC Screen Freeze Turbo Fan Issue

    Hello...
I've read most, if not all of the related posts; however, I have not seen any definitive answer to this issue.
My, almost mint condition, Power Mac G5 PPC has recently started the screen freeze, turbo fan, won't boot issue that seems to be prevalent with these models.  I've tried almost all of the suggested troubleshooting fixes and have had no luck.  My most recent attempt was to try and start in single-user mode (holding SHIFT + S at startup) and I received the following error screen then turbo fans: http://www.thishateofmine.com/Assets/photos/appleCPUpower.jpg
Remember...this is a PPC, so why am I getting an error referencing Intel CPU Power Management?  This leads me to believe the OSX 10.5.8 I've been running has installed system resources for non-existent CPU's and is causing a conflict.  This would be a major coding error on Apple's behalf, would it not?
I never had this issue when running any previous OS version and this computer had been running spectacularly.
It has only been used in my clean, smoke-free, home recording studio and if it werent' for a few blemishes left by external HDD's, this computer could pass as brand new.  There is very little internal dust and I have kept it clean with electronics approved compressed air.  I have not removed anything to get at the PSU area for cleaning, though.
If I could get it to boot from the original DVD's and install up from Panther, I would.  Based on the error message I'm receiving, I do not believe this is a logic board, RAM, CPU, etc... issue.  The computer will boot into open firmware and function fine, but not the OS; therefore, this would be an OS problem, right?  Is that not a logical mental path?
This HAS to be a known issue and have a resolve that is NOT logic board and/or CPU replacement related.
Any help would be greatly appreciated.
BTW...please read this as a positive communication from a frustrated (knowledgeable enough to be dangerous) user.  I just want my G5 back.

After plugging in the G5 PPC, as it had been unplugged for several days, here are last night’s efforts:
With only the original, main Hitachi Deckstar 400GB HDD in slot 1, I attempted to boot normal, boot holding SHIFT + COMMAND + V, boot holding COMMAND + S and boot to the original install DVD, all with no joy.  In my original post I incorrectly stated I was attempting to boot into single-user mode by holding SHIFT + S, which resulted in the screen displaying the OP’s linked image.  In attempting to boot into (actual) single-user mode and verbose mode, I get two different text messages – and have taken screen photos, but have not been able to upload yet – both of which stop with “DART enabled” and then do nothing else with no cursor capability, only to result in turbo fans and having to hold the power button down to shut down.
Next I ran (again) the Apple Hardware Test from the original install DVD and everything passed.
Feeling confident the hardware is all in working order, I used my brother’s Macbook Pro 3.1 (OS v10.6.8) as the host to mount the G5 PPC in target disk mode.  The PPC’s HDD mounts up with no issues and everything is accessible, so I shut down and swapped the original HDD with a 500GB Western Digital Caviar SE16 that did not have an OS on it, restarted to AHT DVD and ran test again with everything passing.
Now I reconnected the target disk mode setup, formatted the PPC’s WD HDD and installed Leopard on it while in TDM from the MBP3.1.  Everything installed, restarted will still TDM connected, MBP3.1 started up with the PPC’s HDD as the startup disk, went through all the typical initial install information and registration and voila I’m back in target disk mode with the PPC’s HDD as my boot disk and MBP3.1’s HDD on the desktop.  Everything’s accessible, functions and looks good.
Keeping in mind I’m only dangerously knowledgeable regarding computers, I’m thinking I should be able to shut everything down and now boot the G5 PPC from the internal WD HDD I just installed the OS on, right?  Wrong.  All I get is the infamous folder with a flashing question mark.
    Help!!!  (…please???)
BTW…as it has been mentioned in a few posts, but is one thing I have not done yet, I thought it worth mentioning.  I have not replaced the internal battery, but the last time I was able to get the computer to boot to the internal HDD and run for a short period of time, after being unplugged for several days, I did have to re-enter time, date, location, etc… info.  The actual last time I got it to boot, I did not do this, as it only got as far as loading the desktop before freezing, but the time was correct.  Didn’t get a chance to check date and location, as it froze almost instantaneously.

  • Chapter Problem with Multiple Timeline Assets

Using Premiere Pro 2.0 and DV assets exported from Premiere.
Normally I just create a single export out of Premiere and all works well. This time I decided to try a different workflow, taking advantage of Encore's ability to add multiple assets to the same timeline. This way, I figured, if any changes are needed, only one part will have to be reexported and retranscoded, instead of the whole thing.
So the first asset places in the timeline OK. The second asset generates a warning message, asking me if I want to "replace existing chapters with source marker in the asset".
Now first of all, there are no existing chapters in the section of timeline where the new asset is being added, so I don't know why it's asking if I want to replace them. But that's a minor annoyance. The real problem is that all the chapter markers in the second asset, whether I click Yes or Cancel in response to the warning, end up squished towards the beginning of the second asset. The first chapter marker is correct, and all chapter markers thereafter are redistributed 12 frames apart from there. I only noticed this when I expanded the timeline view.
I thought maybe I had exported from Premiere incorrectly, but if I remove the first asset and place the second asset in the timeline first, the chapters appear where they should. It seems that any asset after the first exhibits this squished marker syndrome, and I don't have a clue why, or how to fix it.
    Anyone have any ideas here?

OK, I just tried replacing the middle timeline clip here. Logistically, it works.
    Here's what I did.
    1. New project. Add 3 pre-transcoded elementary mpeg and ac3 streams to the timeline.
    2. Check project.
    3. Fix the reported error about gaps between clips. Unfortunately, I had to move the 3rd clip 12 frames away from the 2nd clip. This will introduce a 12-frame gap between clips. I did not try to build with the error uncorrected. NB: There was no gap error concerning the boundary between clips 1 and 2, so I expect the problem is clip specific.
    4. Build a disc image. All of the audio was ac3, and with the different audio clip lengths (all less than 1/2 second difference), Encore re-transcoded the audio, and only the audio. My suggestion here is to use .wav files only.
    5. Use File>Replace Asset to replace the middle clip audio and video streams with new, shorter ones.
    6. Trim out the danger stripes in the timeline and butt the video and audio of the 3rd clip perfectly up against the end of the middle clip.
    7. Check project. No gap error this time.
    8. Build disc image.
I mounted each image in turn and played them in WinDVD. They played as expected. I cannot speak to how truly seamless the playback is because all of the clips I have for testing fade to black at the end. But WinDVD did not hesitate when going from clip to clip and there were no freeze frames that I could see.
So upgrading to CS3 will let you do what you want. It may be a perfect solution, and it may not, but it is certain to be better than what you get from En 1.5 going from timeline to timeline.
