Freezing PB - Converted Android apps?

I have OS version 2.1.01314. Never had any problems until few days ago. What I tried to run converted Android APS  my PB intermittently is going nuts. It freezes for several seconds I mean black screen only. Than recovers. After restarting the PB. I have done a Backup to my PC and done a Sec Swipe. Now I am re loading the OS. The last two apps I installed were GPS Maps using Nokia Maps and Passwdsafe, both from App World. I suspect one of these apps, but I am far from certain.
Anyone has similar problems.

Some times running many diff android apps will cause it to hang, Usually a restart fixes it for my son.

  • Converting Android apps to run on Windows 10 (phone)

I used to develop Windows Phone 7 apps but moved over to Android a couple of years ago. I have a half dozen apps now on Google Play.  I read in the WSJ today that Microsoft has developed some kind of porting software that will make porting of Android
apps to Windows Phone 10 reasonably easy.
I'm imagining some kind of virtual machine like VirtualBox.  That kind of thing can be viable but I'm wondering about apps that use things like everything in the Google Play Services Library.  All of my apps use Google Cloud Messaging and
Google Maps V2 along with in-app products both consumables and subscriptions.
Is there anything published that discusses any of this?
    Thanks,

  • Convert a legacy android app to native

I have a multifolio android app which is a legacy app.I want to convert it to native.I have read this article Digital Publishing Suite Help | Building native DPS apps for Android devices.
But i have some questions. Will i have to rebuilt my folios or i have just to change the viewer version to 32?The application name and the bundle id must be the same as i was in the legacy app..is that correct? Will i have to create a new p.12 certificate or i should go with the one that i had create for my previews app.In the link above i can see the steps fro creating a native app from the scratch. Is there any link that gives the steps for converting an existing legacy app to native??Any help will be appreciated!!!

    1) You don't have to change your folios. You just have to rebuild the app.
    2) The bundle ID must be the same. I believe the app name must be as well.
    3) You MUST use the same .p12 certificate. Otherwise Google will not allow you to upload the new app in place of the old one.

  • Converting dynamic php/mySQL page to Android app using cs5.5

I have a simple webpage designed in DW5 that used standard php & SQL to query a small (2000 record) table and then self-reload on click to display the results (http://www.aspergillus.org.uk/nac/interactions/patientchoosegeneric.php). I now want to turn it into an android app.
I have CS5.5 installed & running along with Android sdk - everything works fine. I go into mobile applications and I seem to be able to work in php & access my mySQL databases to develop as normal.
I preview using live code and get the result I want but PhoneGap/CS5.5 refuses to build.
I think I really need a hint or two from someone with a much better overview of how phonegap/cs5.5. work together. I was hoping that the integration of a php editor and phonegap might mean that I could adjust the layout of my page (using the helpful default pages in Mobile Applications ), put in my php/SQL code and then build and PhoneGap/CS5.5 would happily import my database table for me! I have used a website based tool that built an 'App' (crude but it worked) just by pointing it at my webpage so it didn't seem beyond the realms of possibility. I assume that that was naive?
If I now have to go back and design from the ground up using jQuery & CS5.5 I can do that (I have David Powers excellent book) BUT there are two big questions I need answering that don't seem to be addressed in David's book:
How do I get all the information in my database table into the App database (I think SQLite is the default RDMS?)
How do I work with that from within CS5.5?
Thanks for any help - i am definitely on the steep part of the learning curve on this one and attempting to jump a bit too far into the deep end at the moment

I was told by Adobe that this feature was not supported and that I needed to seek help here. I am running Windows 7 64 bit. I have the 64 bit version of 6.27 JDK installed and the latest Android SDK. I have successfullt created an app using PhoneGap directly through the command line. the Android SDK also doesn't like some of the config and build files created by Dw when I try to install the application files. It will still work, it just complains. I have also made sure that the emulator is up and running before running the build command in Dw.
    Any help would be appreciated.
    Thanks

Today I follwed David Powers tutorial about creating an app by Phonegap from DW CS5_5.
It is in the book: Studio Techniques. De iPhone app created worked as it should in the simulator. The Android version didn't show the map it should show in the emulator.
Because creating the Android SDK by DW failed I installed it myself. Dw tried to install an linux version of Phonegap on my Mac. (Something the DW team should look after!). After installing and following David Powers instructions it worked as descripted above.
It takes a little time to get used to the Android SDK and besides that it behaves terribly slow.
I cannot help you any further but I want to let you what I experienced myself up to now.

  • Working android apps now crash after Mountain Lion upgrade

I've developed two air for android apps that are on the market using Adobe Air/ Flash Builder..
I just purchased a new mac laptop with Mountain Lion which is a big upgrade over my old machine.
The problem is, when I loaded my old project folders into Flash Builder 4.6 on my new machine, they compile fine with no errors.
When I hit run, it begins to export the app to the Android device like normal, it then tuns the device's screen black as if the app is starting... then crashes.
If I hit debug, it starts the connection countdown and never connects to the debugger. Then it turns black and crashes just as before.
It doesn't give me any errors at all. I can't run it in the simulator because it has extensions that break it.
Just as a test, I started a new project and ran that on my phone, and it worked perfectly. So it's only the old projects that won't work..
What's crazy is the same exact project folder, if i put it on a USB drive, put it on my old copmuter, or my friends Macbook with Lion, export it to android to the same Android device...it works!...
    I've already tried the following:
    - Re-installed flashbuilder 4.6, installed 4.7 and test with that
    - Downloaded the projects off of svn, and directly from an external hardrive to see if it was svn error
    - Deleted all hidden filed within the project folders that may have had machine specific information in them
    -  Started a new project under the same name, manually recreated all the folders and pasted each individual file into them
    - Tested it on multiple devices to see if it was just my phone
Any help would be greatly appreciated, I'm at a total loss, because the projects work on my old computer with Snow Leopard, my friend's computer with Lion, but won't work on mine at all!

  • You Upgraded to OS 10.2.1 and want to run Android Apps on Your BB10? Install Snap to Your Device!

If you've upgraded to OS 10.2.1.x on your BB10 device you can now install any free Android app directly to your BB10 smartphone directly without any special converting and without the need to connect to your PC.  This opens up BB10 to the thousands of Android apps available in the Google Play store.  However, you need an app to quickly search for and install these Android apps.
The best app available so far is called Snap.  Unfortunately, Snap can't be installed directly to the device since it's a native BlackBerry app and is not yet available in the BlackBerry App Store.  However, it can be quickly loaded to your BB10 device using your PC.
Here is a quick and easy way of installing Snap on your BB10 device using your PC.  Once Snap is installed on your device you won't need your computer to install Android apps on your device!
    1.   Download Sachesi for your computer Platform, i.e. Windows, Mac, Linux (Don't download the Sachesi bar file for BlackBerry or the apk file for Android)
    Sachesi
    2.  Download Snap from here:
    Snap
    3.  Connect your BB with the USB cable.
    4.  Double click on the Sachesi app you downloaded.
    5.  When it opens, click the "Install" tab. (If your device requires a password enter it here.)
    6.  Drag the Snap bar filed you downloaded in step 2 into the box under the install tab.  As soon as you drop the file it will load to the device.
    7.  That's it!  You can disconnect your device and enjoy direct downloading of Android apps on your BB10 device by opening Snap and using your Google Account.
Note:  Not all Android apps will run on the BB10 and, occasionally, an app will not work quite as expected.  However, the vast majority do run normally.

Hello John_Clark  Excellent contribution. Valuable information for all who want to upgrade and not wait until the update is releasedby our operator. It would also make a good listing of operators which has released 10.2.1

    Hello,
I have the Samsung Fascinate phone and I've had it for almost a month now.  I recently updated my phone with the new software that was pushed to my phone.  After the update, I began to receive the following message: "Activity TwLauncher (in process com.sec.android.app.twlauncher) is not responding.  I'm not able to slide the pages on my phone like I used to; the phone freezes at times too.  What should I do?  Please help if you can.  I greatly appreciate it.

Turn the power off, Hold the Vol. Button Down,Press and release the Power Button You are now presented with a menu that allows for Fastbook, Recovery, Clear Storage, and Simlock 5. Select Clear Storage by pressing the Volume Down button 6. Press and release the Power button 7. Now simply confirm your decision: Volume Up for YES and Volume Down for NO If you selected YES, all data including third-party applications will be deleted from the Samsung Fascinate. Once the wipe is complete, the phone will reboot to its factory fresh state.

  • Can android apps see Blackberry Remember notes/task??

    Hi,
Can android apps see Blackberry Remember notes/tasks?
The app in question is a grasshopper phone app (https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.grasshopper.dialer&hl=en)
and it requests access to the phone (obviously), contacts, shared files and device / identifying information.
My device is encrypted if it makes a difference
    Thanks

Android apps were made easy by RIM to convert and 'sign' by the developers so the apps can run on the PlayBook. I assume RIM checks them for compatibility and quality.  So some of the apps you may see on the App Store are actually converted apps. There is no designation as such.
Android apps use a different file format from the PlayBook, so you can't just load an Android app into the PB and expect it to run. RIM's operating system runs apps in bar file format.
Yes, you can reinstall apps you reinstall. Go to App World / My World and you will see all your apps installed and uninstalled. You can always reinstall uninstalled apps.
I love my Playbook. Spend a little time with it and you will love it to. Also this is a good board to find help of needed.

  • Downloading Android Apps

Hi I am a new Bbplaybook user getting frustrated as I am not tech sabi. I tried.to down load apps from android app store but when trying to open it gives me an error such as unable to find default app. I also did not know how to start a topic here. Help will be much appreciated. Thank you.

Sorry, you can't download apps to the Playbook direct from the android app store! You can download from BlackBerrys AppWorld, or have android apps converted into a bar file which you can sideload. If you need help with the latter, please say so..
    Otherwise, enjoy AppWorld.

  • PlayBook Help with Android Apps / Google Apps ** Advice Needed Plz **

Good Evening Everyone, I need some help and advice please regarding a Playbook.
I had a Samsung Galaxy Tab 2 7" and found that firstly i could not move apps to SD Card so i sold it.
But now i want to buy a Blackberry Playbook and understand that Android Apps are on the new software update.
But i am trying to find out if i can buy them from Google Android Apps as i have a Google Account and used to buy android apps from there, can they be used on the Playbook??
Finally can someone advise me if there is a SD Card external port if i wanted to add a extra 32GB of storage. Looked everywhere on the Spec but with no joy finding out.
Any help and suggestions would be really Handy.
Its Nearly 2013 so wishing you all a Happy New Year.
    Solved!
    Go to Solution.

    1) a far as I know, no SDcard reader available for the PlayBook currently.
    2) Android apps, that you can download from the Google Play with your Google Account will not work on anything else than an Android powered tablet.
    3) what you have certainly read on the internet, is that "the PlayBook can run Android apps", which is not exactly true.
What is true is this, and you will be quite disappointed:
    A) applications for the PlayBook are either web applications (like GMail using the browser), or applications installed from the App World (it is a Blackberry store, just like the AppStore for iOS or Google Play for Android).
    B) for a given developer that has developped an application for Android, it is very easy to convert their app to the BlackBerry format, and publish it on the App World.
====> basically, if you want to install an application that is available for Android, you have to wait for the developer to port the application to the BlackBerry PlayBook.
for the financial issues, I believe that if you buy an app on Google Play, and the app is available on the App World, then you have to buy it again (and vice versa).
I will end by saying that if the only reason for you to sell your Galaxy Tab 2, is that the apps cannot be moved to the SDCard, then I am not sure the PlayBook will suit your needs for that aspect.
