Freezing video during playback HELP!

I have a problem with video freezing for a split second on playback of DVD. I finished two projects (44 min and 32 min) on G4 dual processor, then moved over to new G5 with FCP Studio...upgrade. I finished editing and then went to export using compressor, then import into DVDSP. When I play on several diff players, the video freezes for 1/3 of a second about a minute into the first video and about 16 sec into the second video...they were compressed at 90min best quality DVD 4:3 in compressor, AC3 2.0 dolby audio, and both put on the same DVD, with final size at 4.2 gig, burning on HP 8x media. What am I doing wrong? I previously had burned a DVD with the first 44 min version on my G4 with no problems! I just want to be able to use my new machine...
Someone mentioned to ouput a MPEG2 file out of FCP5 first, instead of exporting into compressor...I tried to do this but got an error that my DVD SP has to be serialized first to output MPEG2 ...I purchased a FCP Studio upgrade...shouldn't it already be serialized? Or maybe I don't know what that means...anyway
By the way, what happened to the DVD 60 min best quality encoding in compressor that was in the earlier version?
Someone else mentioned to use toast to burn....but how do I get my FCP to ouput MPEG2 as a quicktime conversion? Or do I have to output a FCP movie and then import into Toast? (I am waiting for my Toast to come in the mail)

Start by updating your OS to at least 10.4.9 and install QuickTime 7.2.
The 7.2 update fixes many G4 playback issues.

Yes. Three-fingered double-click to turn it on or off. Three-fingered drag to move the zoomed image.
Sometimes during playback I need to enlarge some parts of video in a way to read numeric settings or something similar.
The video will have been compressed for use on the iPhone, so zoom may help, but it won't be able to show detail that was lost in the compression.

Shaky video during playback

I have some HD video I shot with my Cannon T1I that I converted to AIC files using MPEG Streamclip. After doing some editing in FCE, I used quicktime to view the files. During playback of the footage I noticed the footage was shaking quit bad, which made it hard to view. I've done this process before without the shaking, so I'm not sure what happened.
I converted the files to AIC files and used 29.97 fps.
Any help would be appreciated!

I wonder if this the case as I had the resolution qualities mazes out. I'll watch them again in full screen mode and my tv to compare.

Occasionally Freezing Video During Import...Again.

(please excuse me if this has been discussed, but i couldn't find anything about it in a search)
a few OS updates ago, there was a problem with FCP caused by Spotlight where imported video has momentary "freezes" every 30 seconds or so. during these "freezes," the audio continued, but the video locked in a still frame for a few seconds. this problem was fixed by disabling Spotlight in the Preferences window. then an OS update fixed the problem for good.
i'm experiencing the problem again with 10.4.11, is anyone else? i just noticed it, and i haven't yet tried disabling Spotlight, because i use Spotlight and i didn't want to do that...

A simple search of the forum will turn up many posts.
If QT 7.3 is the root of the issue and you do not have a cloned drive to use to restore your bonked system, a full erase and reinstall is in your future.
Some reading for those slack times during the reinstall.

Why does my Ipod keep freezing up during playback,

Why does my Ipod 3 keep freezing up? I have reset it as discribed in the online help 4 different times and it still freezes.
I at first thought it was due to the song was an MP3 but it has since froze on ACC and CDA audio. This would tell me it isn't the format that is causing it to freeze.

By a reset do you mean an actual hard reset of the device or a restore of it in iTunes? If it was the former, try a restore of the device in iTunes. If it was the latter, your iPod likely needs servicing.

Getting audio but not video during playback using Airplay-

I'm using my iPad 3 to stream content from my Amazon Prime video account the via Airplay to my Apple TV. I'm getting the audio, but not the video. Are these units capable of doing what I'm trying to do, do I have to set up certain settings to do this? Help!!!

How do you know or find out if that's indeed what they're doing of if something is after all technically awry?

Washed out video during playback in ie9

I've got win7-64bit, with ie9 installed. Video playback using flashplayer 11 allows the audio portion to come through fine, however, the video is washed out almost completely! It plays, but the contrast is way off! It's almost completely white! When I click over to full screen mode (when it allows) it is just fine. Have had it occur on 2 different websites, that before were playing just fine.
Like I said, the video plays, but contrast is completely off! When the video is stopped, it is clear as day.
Am at wits end trying to determine what has happened.
Yes, I have turned hardware acceleration on/off. I have unstalled/installed repeatedly. Have managed add ons. Have read all the forums concerning video playback and have tried EVERYTHING that they suggested (except install ie8, then reinstall ie9; won't let me do that).

Premiere constantly freezes video while playback

For a bout 2 months now of using Premiere pro cc 2014, i am very disappointed of a constant behaviour. trying to play timelines of low complexity (3mins long, sometimes no effects, and only one video track and a title or a matte ), keeps freezing in random spots of the timeline while the audio continues to play. There are times that it even crashes completely after this.
The materials used are mxfs or quicktimes ( H264) from common DSLR cameras
It happens even if the timeline is rendered or not
The only solution found so far is immediately quit and reopen Premiere, but even after this it can happen again. It is very emberassing as it happens while i play the edit in front of clients.Pl

It is a pity that no one from adobe is answering this post. Anyway, having made testings found the following
1) It happens on the mac ( not the PC )
2) I found the following sequence settings to degrade the problem to 20% ( I mean the codec - Apple pro res 422
2)
3) To eliminate the problem I import the files and while logging, and starting a first cut, i convert them in backround ( using Mpeg Streamclip - personal choice ) at Apple pro res 422 (any flavor) and when this is done i simply reconnect them to the Pro res ( using the above settings ) and problem gone...
But all the above is a roundtrip not a solution. If anyone from Adobe is out there...:)

How do I get my ipad2 to play the music videos as video during playback in music similar to my iPod?

I would like to play back all my music and music videos together like on my iPod, but when I play the music videos from the music app, they only display a thumbnail picture when the video is playing. I like to mix up my audio only songs with my music video songs. Do I need a separate app to acomplish this?

Did you check to see that shuffle is is turned off? To do this, while playing a song tap the cover art to reveal the additional controls if they are not already visible (see photo below). Then tap the shuffle button (bottom right) until it turns white (white is off).

No video during playback for Source or Program

I have Macbook Pro 2.6 i7 with 16gb RAM and I am running Premiere Pro CC 7.1.0
I am playing back video and seeing nothing I can hear it fine. Any thoughts?

What is your graphics adapter (AMD or nVidia) and what is your device driver version?
There have been "some" recent messages that the latest nVidia driver causes problems, and using an older driver is the fix

Clip's video momentarily freezes during playback

When playing a clip from the Clip library or in the Project timeline the application will periodically freeze; any keyboard inputs (such as hitting 'K' or 'L' during playback) are buffered. Everything on the screen freezes but the audio continues to play. After a couple of seconds the application will unfreeze and the video will "catch up" with the audio. The buffered keystrokes will then take affect.
(It's possible to skim the clip and it will not freeze during this. Skimming backwards and forwards at variable speeds works without a problem.)
For example, I choose a clip that is 11:37:44 in length. The first time the clip is played it freezes about 6 seconds in, then unfreezes 3 seconds later. The second time it doesn't freeze at all but plays straight through. The third time the clip is played it freezes about 4 seconds in and then unfreezes.
It's the random nature of the problem that is so vexing.
I'm running FCPX Trial 10.6.0 on a MacPro 1,1 with 16GB of RAM, running 10.7.5 and using a 2TB eSATA-connected RAID 10 drive. The OWC enclosure is fed by a SeriTek/2ME4 PCI card and the MacPro has been upgraded to an NVIDIA GeForce 8800 GT graphics card. There is 584.29 GB available out of the 2TB.

I logged out and logged in as a different user. I fired up FCPX and imported the same event file from the book.
It did not freeze once during playback.
I then imported one of the clips (.mov) I had imported from tape. Again, no problem whatsoever.
I removed any applications launched during log-in and logged in as normal, launched FCPX and it still exhibited the same problem with freezing.
Since all of the media is on the same (RAID 10) disk and the only difference is the account I've logged in with, it appears that there is a process running under one account that is responsible for the momentary freezing. If I find what it is I'll report back.

MacPro 3.1 with GTX285 freezes during playback- too slow?

I´m having issues with my MacPro 3.1 (2008, 10GB RAM, GTX 285 card) and FCPX which always freezes only during playback.
I can edit the whole day without any freezing as long as I do not play back the edit for longer than 1 minute. After about 1.15 of continuos playback the computer will freeze for 45 seconds. The audio keeps playing though but the video will freeze and I cant do anything on the computer. Then video comes back for another minute before it will freeze again. So I can never see the whole edit...
When working with Adobe Premiere CS6 or any other program I do not have the slightest issues and the MacPro is working fine the whole day. I only have this issue with FCPX (10.0.6 and 10.0.7)
I have tried the following so far:
- trashed preferences
- re-installed FCPX
- clean install of the OS (10.8.2) on a fresh HD with fresh install of FCPX (no other programs on the system)
- changed RAM
- Hardware Test with no issues showing
- dropped in my old GT8800 graphic card which seems to be too slow but does not show any real freezes only choppy video playback
- Cuda driver installed and Cuda uninstalled
Could it be that my system is too slow for FCPX? Could the 285 cause the freezing? Does anybody else have this kind of issues? I have to use Premiere Pro CS6 with Cuda for most of my projects, but for quick edits I would love to use FCPX with this machine. What can I do? Any ideas what could be wrong with my system? Any feedback would be highly appreciated.

thanks a lot for taking the time to reply. Now I´m even more puzzled knowing that it should work fine on my machine.
I also got the impression that the GTX285 should handle FCPX without any issues and it does on my machine until it freezes. Its quite snappy during editing and can play quite a few effects that need rendering in real time. Strange thing also is that I do not get a dropped frame warning after the freeze.
Regarding your questions:
1) I tried all kind of formats ranging from DV, DVCPRO, DVCPRO50, XDCAM and ProRes. Even tried transcoding and proxy. No matter what format I bring in, the freezing will occur
2) tried transcoding and the original file formats
3) Cuda drivers are up to date. I also tried various older drivers and not installing Cuda at all. Same result all the time unfortunately.
I no longer know what I should do... I´m already thinking about buying a ATI 5770 but I´m also using Premiere a lot which works great with the Cuda cards and I do not want to invest into this old machine - still hoping that a new MacPro will arrive eventually later this year...

Mobile mp4's video clip playback

does anyone know how to enable mp4 video from a mobile handset playback on the computer?
trying to get clips from sony erricson p910 to play leaves me with a black screen but with sound and some random blocks of colour.
I managed it before on a g4 system but cannot for the life of me remember.
vlc of course plays them and i have added all sorts of div x and other codecs, yet as mp4s it would be nice if they just palyed out of the box.

Video/film conversion freezing problem during play...

i was wondering can anyone help me. i have been trying to transfer films to my n97mini using the ovi package. it seems to convert ok and transfer but when i try to play the films on my phone they all seem to freeze at the 25min to 27min mark during playback, but the sound keeps playing.

Hi I have experienced the same video playback freezing problem. This occurred after installing the latest phone os upgrade (N97) . Before this I had no video freeze problems but many memory related issues. In my view what has happened is that memory that was prevoiusly allocatedto video support has been reassigned to address the other memory related issues.. I have also tried to use the video conversion software contained within the PC Suite software and although the video gets converted and copied onto the phone successfully, the video does not work. I dont believe this is a codecs issue as this should be sorted out by the converter utility.. Can you please fix this as soon as possible and issue another os upgrade, preferably one that works on Windows Vista!

Changing subtitle stream during playback of Video track

Can someone please help me out with changing the subtitle stream during playback of a video track? The subtitle button doesn't seem to cycle through the 4 languages we have on the track.
