Freezing while installing apps

I recently updated my 16GB ipod touch to 2.0, and have downloaded about 15 apps. 3 times now, though, my ipod has frozen while an app has been installing. The graphic on the Touch stops, and I can no longer control iTunes; totally frozen. Once I unplug the ipod, however, iTunes snaps back to life.
After I shut off the iPod (manually, by holding down the top and home button for a long time), the ipod freezes on startup with the white apple. I have to put the ipod into recovery mode for iTunes to recognize it again, and then I restore it.
What is going on? And how can I fix it? Thanks very much in advance.
As an additional note, the application that has been installing when the iPod freezes has been a different app on each of the 3 crashes.

Happening to me too. Requires a complete restore and reset to fix. iPod gets very warm to the touch when it's in the frozen state, and plugged in. Recovering it to a working state requires me to put it into recovery mode, restore, and set it up as a fresh iPod; restoring from a backup puts it into the broken state.
I've found it's possible to "break" the iPod by adding new apps from both the iTunes app store on the computer, and from the app store on the iPod itself.
Given this, I'm forced to get my iPod into a working state I can live with, and then not buy anything further from the app store until this is fixed.

  • Freeze while installing Photoshop CS 5

I've been trying, unsuccessfully, to install Photoshop Extended on my MacBook. Things to consider:
Yes, I have the Java runtime installed
I've had photoshop in the past, including the trial for CS5. However, I uninstalled them weeks before trying to install the retail copy
I suspect that it's having trouble writing files. It will often freeze while installing fonts, or when installing the actual application for Photoshop.
The installer used to quit, but after I cleared a number of system adobe files, it will not quit, and the instalation process will go further. However, between 50% and 80%, the installer will lock up, and my Mac will lock up, forcing me to shut down by holding the power button.
Has anyone else had similar issues installing photoshop in Mac OS (Specifically Lion)?
    Thanks!

    Hello,
I have heard of this error occuring during installations, when a registry key cannot be accessed (as the error message notes).  The first thing to check I think is that the key indicated in the error message actually exists in your registry.  Just click Start -> Run... and type regedit to open the registry.  Then navigate to the key indicated to verify it exists.  If it does exist, can you double click to attempt to edit it?  Do you receive any errors?  I don't recommend actually changing anything, rather to test if perhaps you don't have registry editing rights for some reason (although logging in as an administrator I think should be sufficient).
Another idea, which has solved strange problems usually related to a specific computer and perhaps a virus scanner installed, is to copy the contents of the install cd to your hardrive, and attempt to install from there.
Give those "tests" a try, and let me know how it goes.  The results should give us some more information with which to explore other potential solutions.
    Best Regards,

  • While installing app updates on my original iPad, my wallpaper reverted to black, my folders disappeared.  How do I fix this?

While installing app updates, my wallpaper for both Home &  Lock Screens reverted to black and cannot be re-set.  All folders disappeared as well.  What now? RESET?

Yes, reboot:  Hold the power and home buttons at the same time for at least 10 seconds (keep holding past the swipe to shut down bar if it appears) until the Apple Logo appears, then let go of both buttons and your iPad will restart.  Hopefully, things will be back to normal.......

while installing "Facebook" app the store said error 0x80004005 and the app couldn't be installed < other apps installed well with no problems > iam using windows 8.1

    Hi,
    Any update here?
Have you followed the suggestions mentioned above?
For 1: Follow the Troubleshoot APP issue links; 2: Reinstall ''FaceBook" APP from the download link
Error code 0X80004005 is a general task failure error code, no more information we could figure out through this error code.
Please take a try with the suggestions, and if any further help needed, please feel free to ask.

  • IMac freeze while installing OS upgrade

I have a G5 iMac currently on OS X 10.5.5, I`m trying to upgrade to 10.5.8 via software update, when the installation begins the computer just freezes... the window displays "configuring installation" and the status bar advances a bit and then just stays there. I have more than enough disk space for the installation. Any advice will be appreciated.

    Welcome to Apple Discussions.
    Run Repair Disk
    1. Insert your Mac OS X Install DVD, then restart the computer while holding the C key.
    2. When your computer finishes starting up from the disc, choose Disk Utility from the Installer menu. (In Mac OS X 10.4 or later, you must select your language first.)
Important: Do not click Continue in the first screen of the Installer. If you do, you must restart from the disc again to access Disk Utility.
    3. Click the First Aid tab.
    4. Click the disclosure triangle to the left of the hard drive icon to display the names of your hard disk volumes and partitions.
    5. Select your Mac OS X volume.
    6. Click Repair.
If you repair errors run it until no errors found.
The download and run 10.5.8 Combo Update

  • Hp Mini 5101 Freezes While Installing Windows....All versions, xp,vista,7,8.....Nothing Takes

I refurbish companies retired computers as part of my business, part of our agreement is the machines all come blank, they delete partitions and wipe the entire hdd multiple times prior to my getting them, Most are as simple as reinstalling windows and any missing drivers and they are complete machines again, I currently have been working on an hp mini 5101 off and on for a couple of weeks now that I have been unable to get to take a copy of windows, and I have tried them all, xp, vista, 7, 8 and none have taken, I tried running ubuntu as a live cd and same as windows during the gui windows loading screen the machine freezes, I even tried popping the hdd out and throwing it into my other hp machine and doing a windows install with an hp windows 7 32 bit install disc, when installed hdd back in machine it again freezes when it reaches the animated windows graphic, I have searched forums, here and the internet in general, and have found no other mention of this occuring, i have found reference to the screen doesnt support it so people see the vista screen instead but i see the windows 7 screen then freeze during the animation. I am assuming (yes i know what happens when you assume, thats why i am here asking for help) this is somehow bios related from their prior use of the machine, I had some toshibas that come in that required a certian mode be changed from ahci to compatablity in order to install windows, I know that the company that had it got it with a vista key and an xp downgrade, I am trying to install 7 on it.
Any other information I may have left out let me know,
Thank you for any help you may be able to give

    Hi MidwayIT,
Thank you for visiting the HP Support Forums and Welcome. I have read your thread on your HP Mini 5101 and freezing after loading Windows. If it freezes on the loading screen it could be the graphics card. Have you performed a hardware test?
    Please let me know.
    Thanks.

  • Pacman randomly freezes while installing packages.

Whatever I do, I can't get xfce4 to install because every time computer freezes at different package installation. It was the same before I reformatted and the issue is not cpu/temperature-related.

Yeah, ram is fine, disk is checked.

  • ITunes freezes while installing

At first, there was a problem with my iPhone showing up in iTunes. I fixed that problem. I was then told to uninstall iTunes and re-install it. Now, every time I try downloading iTunes the installation gets stuck at 76% (50.2 MB). I've tried every solution the Apple Support has to offer, and many other solutions as well. Nothing. Can anyone help?

Do you have problems with downloading large files in general or is it just iTunes?
It would be worth trying some other large files to see if it is a general problem.
I recently had a problem with a wireless LAN and large files and it was resolved with a firmware update of my router. In my case there was no problem with a wire connection. I am not particularly suggesting this is the cause of your problem but rather an example of a general problem.
In the mean time could you get someone else to download the installer for you and put it on a memory stick/cd.
