Freezing Windows after Apple driver installation

Hi,
I'm having some strange issues after I install Boot Camp. The Windows install goes fine, but after I install the Apple drivers that came on the 10.5 install disk and restart, Windows freezes a few seconds after getting to the desktop and remains unresponsive. I have to then do a hard reboot. The disk checks out ok in chkdsk, but I'm not sure where to go from here to get a functional Windows partition. Any ideas on what I can check or try to get this to work?
Thanks!

The divers Apple provides, for whatever reason, are the problem. It's not any particular device driver, because when I load each driver individually by cancel install, explore the DVD to Dirvers, and double click on the ones I need making sure to click the ones with 'XPinstall' in them. I don't know what the other set does, so I'm leaving it alone. Now it works like a charm. The problem is when it goes an installs the bit that puts the Control Panel on. Removing that (yea parallels!) makes the system operational again. BTW, It looks like the 2.1 update changes the Visual C++ redistributable.
So now Windows works fine, but I don't have my nifty key bindings or the Boot Camp Control Pannel. Any ideas?

  • Fresh Win7, freeze while rebooting after video driver installation

Yesterday when I opened my laptop it froze while booting when the Win7 logo appears. Rebooted in safemode, all was good, didn't know what to look for exactly.
Today, I decided it was time for a new Win7 reinstall so I did it. Also, did a complete format of my SSD where I keep only my OS.
While it was rebooting after installing the AMD video driver it froze again, in the same spot. Restarted the laptop, chose last known good config and noticed in device manager that one of the video cards had error 43 (Windows has stopped this device because it has reported problems. (Code 43))
I tried to install the driver for Intel then, but I got an error saying my laptop does not have the minimum requierments (even for older versions of the driver)
I tried every possible combination of installing, uninstalling, enabling, disabling one of the cards.
When I install the AMD driver, the Intel driver installs itself too.
When I leave AMD graphics  enabled, it freezez at Win7 logo while booting,
When I disable AMD and leave just Intel enabled, then it boots normally, but right after the reboot, device manager shows them both with yellow triangle and "!" with error "This device cannot work properly until you restart your computer. (Code 14)", and of course, if I reboot then it freezes again.
I have already spent 10h on this and couldn't find a way to fix it.

    Hi
Using Advanced boot options  ( F8 at start up )  go into Safe Mode with Command prompt , Once Safe mode loads with command prompt type      rstrui.exe           hit Enter   ....        This will take you into  System Restore ...  Follow the onscreen instructions to Restore your system to the time  before the AMD driver was installed .    You can choose from multiple restore points  if they have been created by you or your system .
                                                      Post me your Findings

  • Windows 8.1 Driver Installation Order G510

    Hi,
I was wondering if someone could tell me the proper order in which to install the Drivers for Windows 8.1
    Im using Lenovo G510 ( i5 4200M, Switchable Graphics Intel HD 4600 & AMD Radeon HD 8570M)
    My current order is:
    1. Intel Chipset
    2. Intel Rapid Storage
    3. Intel Management Engine
    4. Intel Video
    5. AMD Video
    6. Audio
    7. Lan
    8. Realtek Card Reader
    9. WLAN
    10. Touchpad
    11. Bluetooth
    12. Camera ( Not applicable because Windows 8 & 8.1 Already have that, installation says no capable hardware found)
    13. Lenovo Energy Management ( Currently using G510s Touch's because mine doesn't have a windows 8.1 version)
I have experienced that even when I have installed the latest drivers ( Realek card reader in particular), Windows still shows a message in action center to install the latest drivers.
Dell had an official post on installing order of drivers. I want to if it is different from Lenovo.
I feel like Lenovo Energy Management and Realtek card reader drivers should be installed right after INTEL Chipset.
    Feedback?

Unlike Dell, Lenovo doesn't really have anything documented on the order in which to install the drivers after a clean install of the operation system.  Unless one of the moderators know of an obscure listing somewhere.  Unfortunately, the documentation for your model is further limited as it only lists the use of the recovery disks which isn't helpful in your situation.
When I do a clean install I tend to rank the driver installation in order of importance.  First installing the drivers that are needed for the basic operating of the machine and from there move on to the lesser important peripherals.  From the looks of your list, it would appear you have done just that and that would be the order I would use.
In regards to the Windows Action Center Message, there is quite possibly an newer driver version available on the Windows Update website.  After your installation of the drivers I would visit the website and review their list for any driver updates.  I would then select just those for download and install.  Once all the drivers are up to date then I would revisit the website for the other OS updates they have to offer.

  • Windows 7 will only boot in safe mode after Bootcamp Driver Installation

Help! I recently installed Windows 7 onto my MacBook Pro with OS X 10.6.4. Everything runs smoothly until I restart the machine following the installation of the Bootcamp Drivers. Upon restart, I am told that Windows "was not able to shut down successfully." I can restart in safe mode but cannot seem to fix the problem. I assume it is related to one of the Bootcamp drivers but which one? Has anyone had this problem? Do I need to install the Bootcamp drivers in order to run windows successfully? Thanks so much!

BEFORE you installed anything off OS X DVD, you did have Windows running, right?
So it was crippled but somewhat functional. And it is possible to create a standard user account, a 2nd admin account. Just as one backup, I understand that doesn't really help.
Same with backing up Windows 7 to an external drive, making a system restore image.
And you can copy the Apple drivers to a folder in Windows and use Troubleshoot Compatibility Mode and install individually (they aren't one program or package, they are in
Apple\Drivers\ for one and people using 64-bit have to use that to run Bootcamp64.msi using Compatibility Mode.
When you started and titled "will boot in safe mode" that sounded like you could boot and login.
Using external wired keyboard and mouse is what some people have had to do until they got proper drivers.
    Would be nice if:
Windows had more drivers and Apple would ship a set to be included in Windows 7 SP1; drivers worked! And could be downloaded and installed directly into Windows, and no need for old 3.0 and then 3.1 but go directly to latest (and new Macs do have improved 3.0 drivers, which are on 10.6.4 DVDs).

  • Boot Camp Windows 7 Black Screen After Graphic Driver Installation

    Hi,
I have MacBook air (2012 model i think). I tried to install windows 7 64 bit using bootcamp. On the first windows boot and before installing boot camp drivers windows was fine. After installing bootcamp drivers and windows restart the windows came up to a black screen and stuck forever. When I uninstall graphic driver (intel HD 4000), windows is good again. Tried to reinstall different graphic drivers versions - didn't work. searched internet everywhere and didn't find any solution.
    please help!

I have solved this issue now but seem to have encountered another one. I solved the above issue simply by keep on trying time and time again, partitioning the hard drive and trying to install windows 7.
Anyway, I have encountered this error: windows setup could not apply the configuration set. The WINDOWS folder cannot be found.
    Please help!

  • Windows 8 not detecting SuperDrive post Apple driver installation.

I just installed windows 8 on my IMac, and everything went fine. Except, now my SuperDrive isn't detected in Windows. It was working fine before I installed all the apple drivers. Any thoughts?

I had the same experience.  However, I got it working by disconnecting from the USB port and reconnecting.
    Hope that helps!

  • Mac OS X crashes after hard drive installation

I just recently installed a new Hard Drive in my iBook G4. I noticed that after I installed OS X 10.4.2 the OS started crashing every time it booted. Ive done an APPLE HARD WARE TEST to see if my iBook was Ok & it was. I did an upgrade from 10.4.2 to 10.4.11 & the OS still crashes. I formated the drive & installed UBUNTU LINUX 7.10 to see if UBUNTU would crash, I was thinking it might be the drive that is defective, but no. Ubuntu linux runs great with no issues, the drive I installed is a HITACHI drive model:HTS541616J9AT00 & OS X 10.4.11 crashes always. WHY? ANY IDEAS?
    Message was edited by: isaisos

Jup they are the installation disks that came with my ibook g4, & I have done that before,What u just said. The OS will crash during the boot, but sometimes im able to use my mac for a while then it crashes. I was thinking it was the HARD DRIVE but no, at this moment my ibook g4 is running UBUNTU LINUX with no issues. The hard drive is a hitachi drive, the support website says it needs no DRIVERS for the iBook. It has to be the OS not supporting my drive??? maybe??

  • Problems with Bluetooth stack after bootcamp driver installation.

I have been running Windows Server 2008 in bootcamp without drivers from the Mac OSX installation cd for a few months with everything except soundcard and function keys working - but since I have found that I need sound and the function keys, I decided to install the Bootcamp drivers and all other drivers that my system would recognize and use.
At this point I should say that ever since I installed Windows Sever 2008, I've been using a mighty mouse wireless on both osx and server 2008, and both have been working perfectly both running natively (in bootcamp or osx) or in virtualization (with vmware fusion on osx).
After completing said install, I rebooted and found to my horror that my mighty mouse wireless had stopped working. I went into the control panel of server 2008 and found the bluetooth.cpl and proceeded to correctly find the mouse identified as it was setup in osx when I first set it up there. I then tried connecting to it in multiple ways, both by supplying no passphrase, letting it decide it's passphrase or entering one (0000 as some documentations have pointed out). None of these solutions worked, so now I'm stuck with a mouse that works in osx and vmware fusion, and that used to work in server 2008 before I installed Apples provided drivers for their hardware.
So my question is - have any of you run into this problem on Vista (I'm figuring Vista is closer to server 2008 than XP is, because they share at least some of the same core as far as I know).
Another thing I've noticed is that I can't make Apple Software Update update Bootcamp to 2.1 - it simply doesn't acknowledge that Bootcamp is installed on Windows, even if I try and force the registering of it with the encluded .exe file in the zip when I download it manually)
I would really appreciate any sort of help on this problem, as I'm fresh out of ideas as to what I can do about it. The only thing I can think of is that Apple's drivers somehow broke the configuration that was working (in resetting it after reboot), but then the question is: How to make it work again.
Again: please help, any help is much appreciated.

Today I installed Vista Ultimate on my new (early 2008) MBP, to find that it killed my Bluetooth on Vista, and also on my OS X partition. Both OS's claim that there is no Bluetooth Hardware attached. It worked after I installed the Drivers, but stopped when I tried to install an Apple BT Keyboard.
Any assistance would be greatly appreciated. I'll begin searching for an answer.
I did do a Super Duper Clone, before I installed Vista on the Boot Camp partition, but I'm fearful that it may be a hardware issue.
    Cheers Teky

  • Can't activate windows after hard drive failure.

I'm attempting to revive a less than year old laptop for a friend after a harddrive failure.... toshiba drive was dead dead.
Has a windows 8 sticker on bottom so can only assume that's what it came with, but windows claims the product key stored in bios has been blocked and will not activate.
Have tried 8, 8pro and 8.1 with no success.  is it possible this machine came with the "Bing" version of windows?
Owner is not computer savy so can't believe he did anything to alter the slic table in the bios...... even flashed it with the latest bios version with no change.
After googling the product key that comes up "xky4k-2nrwr-8f6p2-448rf-cryqh" using more than one product key tool, seems its listed all over the internet.  Is this what should be on this machine?
    Thanks for any help.

    Hi:
You have to use W8.1 OEM installation media.
Anything you can find on the internet is for retail versions of W8/8.1.
You will need to either get your hands on the above media or order a set of recovery disks from HP.
To order recovery media, click on the link below, select the W8.1 drivers and then click to expand the line labeled Order Recovery Media.

Why didn't your friend contact HP to get this matter taken care of?  Wasn't the notebook still under warranty after less than a year?

Hi all, in answer to the above suggestions:
No the 10g database and listener is completely down (no services belonging to the new 10g database are running). I checked also alle the logs, but no messages anymore since saturday.
What I did notice: Oracle92HTTPserver (a service normally started automatically) does not start. When I start it, it gives me a message that there is nothing to do and that the service therefore is not started. So the HTTP-server itself is not working anymore. I can't find any files changed by th installation in the Ora92 home Apache directories. All seems as it was before the installation And still it won't start....
Does anybody have other suggestions? Please help.
    Thanks in advance,

  • 64-Bit Windows 7 Load Driver Installation Problem

I am new to Mac and have recently got my hands on a new 17" MBP.
The MBP is a 2011 model dating from about May.
Not wanting to step 100% away from Windows I want to install Windows 7 as well and run Mac OS.
I have tried installing Windows 7 32-Bit and it worked absolutely fine - no problems at all.
However, when I tried to install 64-Bit Windows 7 I ran into a problem very early on in the installation.
Before the part where you select the partition to install Windows on, I get a "Load Driver" message which reads:
"A required CD/DVD drive device driver is missing. If you have a floppy disk, CD, DVD, or USB flash drive, please insert it now."
I cannot eject the DVD to replace it with the Windows Support DVD that I burned (which I assume has the relevant drivers on), so I am a bit stuck.
I tried googling and a few people suggested burning the disk at a slower speed, which I did and it made no difference at all.
The fact that 32-Bit works lets me know I am doing things right, there must be something about the 64-Bit that the MBP doesn't like.
Any help much appreciated. I have 8GB RAM and would like to use it all with both Mac OS AND Windows so 64-Bit is preferred.
    Thanks in advance.

    Hi guys,
I have exactly the same problem.
I have a macbook pro 15 late 2011 and I tried for hours to find a driver for superdrive but nothing at the moment...
If someone could help us it would be great
    Thanks

    Any pointers to this !!!!
    Thanks

    Hi,
Bootstrap seems to be failing. I don't think it's up to the database, rather something on the filesystem level:
com.sap.engine.bootstrap.SynchronizationException: ERROR: Writing file http://.\bin\ext\Oracle JDBC Driver Cust\ojdbc14.jar.
Can you check if there's something strange about the location? Might it be permissions issue (bear in mind that except for CE dev edition processes are running as SAPService<SID> on Windows and <sid>adm on Unix and it's bad to have files relevant for the server that are not accessible for these users)?
    Best regards, dido

    Hi,
The functionality of the mute led is provided by the IDT HD Audio software package - if you haven't done so already, try the version on the following link.
