Frefox overloads memory

I frequently get a popup from my AVG antivirus program that says Firefox is using 222MB of memory and that I should restart FF. Why wouls FF use so much memory? Running FF 7.0.1

  • Overload Memory Leak ActiveMQ + BlazeDS

    Hi,
    I have blazeDS in a production enviroment with ActiveMQ.
    When the app is with normal loading everything works fine. But when the server is overloaded the app keeps the threads of polling of ActiveMQ and then starts consuming memory and CPU till it crashes.
    All what I am telling you is the same as this bug: http://bugs.adobe.com/jira/browse/BLZ-502
    The difference here and that bug is that I use JMS with Tomcat.
    Without JMS I can reproduce the situation.With JMS I can't.
    The thing is that I already profiled the application in production and saw the problem there. But I need to reproduce the situation.
    It will help me if someone know if that correction in that bug also applies for JMS with Tomcat.
    Thanks.

    We also have the same problem. The JVM goes out of memory every 24 - 50hrs. I have documented a working fix for the problem on the JVM side.

  • Analog signal from PXI

    Hi everybody,
    I have a problem: I cannot acquire 6 analog signals with a PXIe 8135 with 4MS/s. I use two boards with 4 MS/s, 16 bits and 8 Analog Inputs. I use a subVI of SAMPLE CLOCK for configuration with this parameters, Continuous SIGNAL, SAMPLE RATE = 4MS/s ( see attachment ). With one signal is ok, but with 2 signals, i have an overload Memory Message.
    Where is the problem in the VI?
    Thanks for your help.

    Quickly looking through your code now, try removing the "Number of Samples analog".  Since you are using Continuous Samples, you are just limiting the buffer and also limiting how many samples you can read at a time.
    But you might want to think about using Finite Samples.  You know how long you want to log for and you know your sample rate.  So why not just do the simple math and tell DAQmx to get that many samples?  You can use the DAQmx Task Done? VI to see if it is done.  That would be much simpler than checking the time that has elapsed.
    There are only two ways to tell somebody thanks: Kudos and Marked Solutions

  • Internal Load Balancing problem?

    A end user opens a webpage to an internal web portal here. Then they click on a portion of the webpage that takes them to a timecard application
    (content L3_Rule5 in the content switch). And here is where the problem begins, you can have three people properly bring up the webpage without a problem but users number four and five will receive a "page cannot be displayed error", and then next thing you know no one can access the webpage. When this happens I request the IP address of the user having the problem, execute the command sh sticky-table l3-sticky ipaddress 136.180.33.150 255.255.255.255 for example and then execute sh service | grep 10 to find out what service/server the user is being direct to, and the problem is usually with one server. I have checked the Content Switch and it's not being overloaded memory wise and the 'loads' on the services are low also and I confirmed all service are "alive". What happens then is we either reload the server or the CSS (usually the server) and then the problem is fixed for the time being and then it creeps up back again within a week give or take a few days. Below is a copy of the config of the device, any advice, ideas, or info would be appreciated.
    Thanks,
    Jase

    It would seem that the config on the CSS is a bit confusing. It's confusing because some of the services that are in the content rule are using uri keepalives, icmp and even scripted keepalives. Now, even with that type of configuration, things should work fine from the CSS perspective. I want to also mention that some of the services have a "port" command configured. This is not a keepalive but actually a command to tell the CSS to PORT NAT. So if the client comes in on port 80 and happens to go to 69.149_HTTP via the content rule, the CSS will port nat the port 80 packet to port 8390.
    Can you take a closer look at this ? Maybe simplifying config config especially the services may help issolate the issue ?
    Regards
    Pete..

  • Motion cutting off photoshop layer

    I am having a problem with motion cutting off a part of a PhotoShop layer. I've had this problem a few times and thought I had fixed it. The problem is that the entire sequence looks good in motion, but when I bring it into Final Cut or I export it using Compressor, the layer is cut off as it is moving back and scaling down. Anyone have any idea how to fix this?

    Check the Fixed Resolution box for the Motion layer that contains the Photoshop layers. Motion automatically turns on Fixed Resolution for Photoshop files to match the original size of the psd, < </div>
    Score! I didn't know that. Thanks, Q, another gotcha for the already overloaded memory banks.

  • Multiple apps freezing on load and/or on accessing the menu bar?

    Recently I've been having problems with many of the Apple apps freezing and not responding.  This includes Disk Utility, iPhoto, Console, and iMovie just to name a few.  Some freeze immediuately on opening like iPhoto, others like Disk Utility and Console open and work fine until I try to click on any of the menu items in the menu bar.  When I click on the menu bar the menu box appears but the text is not rendered and the app immediately stops working.  The only option is to Force Quit the application but after restarting the app and the computer the problem is exactly the same.
    Incidently the Taskbar has also experienced its fair share of beachball activity on nearly every icon to include Time/Date and Spotlight.
    - I've rebooted to the recovery partition and performed both a Disk Repair and Permissions Repair.
    - Created new user account and experience the same thing.
    - Reloaded OSX and problem was gone but returned within a few weeks
    The only changes I've made recently was to upgrade the HD to a 3TB Western Digital Caviar Green (essentially the same drive as the factory just bigger).  I've also turned on FileVault 2 on my 3TB backup disk.
    I do have some homebrew installed applications and libraries due to some course work that I'm doing.
    I've plenty of Diagnostic Reports but do not know how to interpret them.  Activity Monitor shows the CPU is not overloaded, Memory still has over a Gig free, and Disk Activity is normal.
    What are the next steps I can take to determine the cause of the problem?  How can I decipher the Diagnostic Reports to determine where the system is dieing?
    Thanks
    Jeff

  • Waking up delay?

    Hi , I have my HD set to sleep in my preferences. Im on an imac G5 Isight 17".
    To wake my conputer I either push the space bar, or click on the mouse, and they both take what seems like eternity to wake up.
    I first get a sound from the computer which I imagine is the HD waking up, and the screen stays black during this process; that takes about 4-5 seconds. Then, I get a blue screen for 1-2 seconds, then finally my desktop.
    But,then I'll get a spinning beach ball for a few seconds, and the computer sort of halts for a bit while I try to get back to work.
    Afterward, everything seems fine, and working correctly.
    But, is there a problem beginning to arise with my system, because I dont remember it taking this long to wake up, even with the HD set to sleep in the Energy settings in the Preferences.
    Anyone?

    Hi again
    in your first post you said:
    "even with the HD set to sleep in the Energy settings in the Preferences."
    my (G5 - 20")iMAc takes about 1 or 2 seconds to wake up.
    The longer you work with some applications, the more memory they take. I could imagine that this is the problem you have, when you let run the iMac for a long time, interrupted only by sleep-periods: if it gets awake, it has to get all the stuff back into order. but i'm afraid that my picture might be too, much too naive...
    Don't forget by the way, that the screen and the processor is in powersafe-mode, and that normal conditions must be restored.
    About the disk: if you have this type of large memory situation, then part of the needed stuff is written to disk. it might well be that in such a situation the iMac first has to wait until the disk is spinning up and reading teh needed info, before it goes to the other busyness like putting the screen light on...
    you can have a look at your memory situation with Activity Monitor (Applications/Uitilies) . Try to check whether you can make a correlation with an overloaded memory and a long wake-up period.
    hope this helps. Post back if you have more problems.

  • My MacBook Pro (purchased in 2011) is taking 10 minutes to boot-up.  It's also taking much longer to open files.  I have 650 GB out of 700 GB left on my machine so it's not that I've overloaded the memory.  Is anyone else having this problem?

    Look at this comprehensive trouble shooting document;
    https://discussions.apple.com/docs/DOC-3353
    I suggest that you start with SMC and PRAM resets.
    Then  a Safe Boot.
    Ciao.

  • Memory cause for USB overload?

    Yesterday I installed 2gb of Kingston memory in my Macbook Pro replacing the original 512 card. I had given up on the processor like other people have posted: thinking that the USB port hard wired into the board was the problem. Since the computer had just undergone a complete archive and install and immediately reproduced the USB overload with nothing attached but a mouse. Indeed the computer had so many symptoms it's possible the original memory was slightly defective.
    But now miraculously the problem has disappeared, at least for the first trial of running a couple of DVD's on a 30in screen. I was able to use a wireless mouse the whole time which was never the case before.
    So if people have experienced this same USB overload problem with 1gb or more of memory would report on that I would greatly appreciate it and will give an anecdotal tip for those of you who may still be wanting a solution.
    Anecdote: I waited for a long time to install this memory thinking it was bought it in error: Kingston KTA-MB667K2/2G which all the specs say are for the Mac Mini. However it's still PC2 5300 200 pin 128M dimm cards. What ultimately happened is that Kingston abridged the line of ram they were selling because this offshoot was a redundancy of the more expensive KTA-MB667 line that is standard for the Macbook Pro single core duos. And I can assure you that the dimms fit Apple's specs as I didn't fully check it out until yesterday.

    That's right smells like good old 'sold capitalist philosophy' making America work for us on this one and I'm going to get a new logic board out of apple anyway. Why shouldn't I?
    Even if that old board gets burned up for gold on the back alley streets of China. By all means if it doesn't concern you it never hurts to tell the truth but it's more fun to lie; don't ask don't tell doesn't that pretty much sum it up here in the greenhouse capital...eh?
    BTW: my truck runs like a MBP on Kingston high: 15% cleaner on veggie oil...

  • Causes for main memory to be unloaded - BIA Server is overloaded

    The check on our BIA server is showing "BIA Server is overloaded".
    The details indicate that the main memory was unloaded >900 times in the last 24 hours.
    I am not aware of any special activities taking place - what would be the cause of the main memory being unloaded so frequently?
    The indices only take up 25% of main memory, which is well below the 50% threshold recommended by SAP.
    What else might be the cause?
    Thanks

    Hi Experts,
    We are also getting the same Alert / Error in the SAP Net weaver BIA Monitor and we are not able to understand, how to go ahead with the same.
    1. The alert we're getting is "BIA server is overloaded". If we click on details it's showing the alert message as "Number of Times Main Memory Was Unloaded in Last 24 Hours: '1064'".
    2. We even tried doing a BIA Reorg and Restart activity, but in vain.
    Note: I. Before we did the BIA Reorg, the details message was showing as "Number of Times Main Memory Was Unloaded in Last 24 Hours: '2184'".
             II. We did a recent SP 22 upgrade and I'm not sure on where to check for the BIA revision?
    Any suggestions on this would be really helpful?
    Thank You,
    Karthik.Ch

  • Memory leak/overload when looping by index over a large query and updating each DB record

    I am importing a CSV file into a temporary table and then running a select query that joins my actual database table with the temporary table, looking for any changes in the data. If changes exist, the select query is looped from 1 to #recordCount# and an update is applied to each record via cfquery. It runs very quickly (much more quickly than looping the query itself), but my memory spikes and overloads after about 1500 updates are completed. I need to be able to do upwards of 20000 at a time, without killing my system. I have tried manually setting the runtime garbage collection to trigger after X number of loops, but that doesn't seem to help. I am running CF8. See below for loop example:
    <cfloop from="1" to="#updatedRecordsQuery.recordCount#" index="a">
    <cftry>
                    <cfquery datasource="#db#" name="doUpdate">
                        UPDATE
                            CI
                        SET
                            firstname = <cfqueryparam cfsqltype="cf_sql_varchar" value="#updatedRecordsQuery.firstname[a]#" />,
                            lastname = <cfqueryparam cfsqltype="cf_sql_varchar" value="#updatedRecordsQuery.lastname[a]#" />,
                            etc, for about 15 various fields
                        FROM
                            client_info CI
                        WHERE
                            CI.client_id = <cfqueryparam cfsqltype="cf_sql_integer" value="#updatedRecordsQuery.client_id[a]#" />
                    </cfquery>
                    <cfcatch type="database">
                        <cfset local.updateErrorList = listappend(local.updateErrorList,updatedRecordsQuery.client_id[a]) />
                        <cfset local.error = true />
                    </cfcatch>
               </cftry>
    </cfloop>

    I would suggest to use select update instead of looping over query object and update each row one-by-one.
    Procedure:
    - Insert your CSV data into temp table.
    - Use a select update SQL query to update the changed data instead of looping over a select query.
    Example:
    UPDATE
       Table
    SET
       Table.col1 = other_table.col1,
       Table.col2 = other_table.col2
    FROM
       Table
    INNER JOIN
      other_table
    ON
       Table.id = other_table.id
    NOTE: You can put all your scripts in a Procedure.

  • Safari is overloading application memory

    I have a brand new 13in macbook pro (with Retina display, 2.8GHz Dual-core Intel Core i5, Turbo Boost up to 3.3GHz, 16GB 1600MHz DDR3L SDRAM, 512GB PCIe-based Flash Storage) running Yosemite 10.10.2 and Safari keeps on overloading the application memory and causing me to have to force quit Safari.  I have tried reinstalling OS X but that didn't work. I have no extensions.  Any ideas?

    The warranty entitles you to complimentary phone support for the first 90 days of ownership.
    If you bought the product in the U.S. directly from Apple (not from a reseller), you have 14 days from the date of delivery in which to exchange or return it for a refund. In other countries, the return policy may be different. If you bought from a reseller, its return policy applies.

  • Logic 9 - Memory Overload - Out of the blue / all of a sudden

    I have been working with Logic Pro for about 4 years on a circa 2007 iMac (2 Core, 2GB RAM), 10.9.4 - and have produced about 30 projects - ranging in total number of tracks from 12-36; medium use of plug ins and always Bus Space Designer.
    I would get the Overload Message intermittently over the years, but could solve that by closing anything else running on the machine, restart Logic and be back in the game.  Everything seemed to work very well for years.  I have not made any changes to the set up, either Logic or the machine, apart from latest software updates, etc.  When I started Logic today, I can't even play a project; I have tried to Play several projects, some with very few tracks, some with heavier tracks; both crash after about 15 seconds of play.
    I have run Clean My Mac2, emptied the trash, etc.  I realize that my RAM is very low, but I can't work out why this has happened all of a sudden.  Any advise?
    Thanks.

    Hi John,
    1) Dont use anything.. OS X can take care of itself...
    2) It's Firefox.. As you have found out it can really hog resources....I would suggest you uninstall it and use Safari...  unless you have a really good reason not to do so...
    2a) What is Escrow Security Alert.app?  (Its part of Mavericks/Keychain and its not using any real resources of note so no worries..)
    3) Ok.. so it's a System Overload and thats likely being caused by Firefox as others have reported....
    4) Growl is a program that puts msgs being reported by other apps, up onto your screen. Not really needed these days thanks to OS X's own notification system...
    http://growl.info
    http://growl.info/documentation/growl-package-removal.php
    5) Absolutely yes... Personally I'd add more if you can....(I think your Mac might actually take 6GB...) Check with OWC to find out for sure... as Apple often state low minimums for memory when the hardware can support more than is officially listed..
    https://www.macsales.com
    ...as the more memory, the better the system operates I've found.... 2GB is the absolute bare minimum when running 10.9 and Logic.. and is going to make your Mac under perform for sure... Make sure you are running Logic Pro 9 in 64bit mode to make use of the extra memory above 4GB...
    Crucial is fine for memory.. so long as it is the exact correct type for your Mac Model...
    Final tip: Make sure nothing is running in the background when running Logic.. Quit all other apps.... including any apps that launch on startup....as your Mac is unpowered as it is for use with modern OS X versions.. (The modern OS X versions make much higher demands on the hardware.. which is why many of us using older Macs.. use Snow Leopard along with Logic Pro 9 whenever possible) so ensure you provide all the CPU/Memory resources you can when running Logic...
    Cheers..
    Nigel

  • Memory overloaded?

    I've recently installed the new version of 7.1 (but this may be a red herring as I had a previous version of iTunes 7.-something) with Windows XP.
    iTunes is not working properly - the mouse is very unresponsive, "sticks", won't play, you have to click a track/playlist/menu button, then wait for a long pause before any response, it tries to move tracks once you highlight them and click to play, because it thinks you're holding the mouse click down...
    It also interferes with other programs - once I have got it playing, every time a new track starts, everything slows up or "freezes" for a few seconds.
    This happened before, and I found the reason was that I was running out of memory space on my hard drive. I've now got a second hard drive (the old one was 40GB, the new one is 120GB) where I keep all my music and iTunes folders. This worked for a while, but now my music in the library is over 40GB, the problem's back. So memory is not now a problem (iTunes and my music folders are "self-contained" on the 120GB disk), but is there a limit to the amount of music the iTunes program itself can handle? (I've got 43.41 GB in the library at the moment).
    Or is there another explanation for this "freezing up", and what can I do?
    It only happens with iTunes, not any other software. The first time it happened I got a new mouse (as action with the mouse is the most obvious "symptom"), but that is NOT the problem - the mouse didn't solve it, but moving the iTunes library did.
    Thanks in advance.

    There is a possibility that the issue could be the amount of ram in the computer. Some computers will intergrate the video ram into the system ram. You might want to find out if the video card in your machine is Deadicated or Shared Video Memory (If shared then you are loosing some of that 512 ram for the video) Itunes does recommend 512 ram just for the application. Also other factor are going to play in as well, other Applications like anti-virus will also take some of the Memory as well.
    You might want to check with your manufacturer of the computer to see if the video card in your computer is shared or Dedicated memory. This is would most likely be resolved if you put another 512 ram into your computer. With applications today if you do not have at lease 1 Gig of memory you might experience Lag issues with applications.
    Another thing you can try is go into the msconfig and editing the start up items. You can use this article.
    http://docs.info.apple.com/article.html?artnum=302538
    (Note: If you are not sure what to uncheck in the Start up items in msconfig, highly recommended that you consult with the manufacturer of the computer to edit that list.)
