How can I do a search in Itunes for movies in French? Or any other foreign language?

It's even more complicated than that.
However if an English language film like Xmen First Class, The Pianist, Inglourious Basterds or Lord of the Rings is labelled VOST, then that means that the Russian, German and Elvish parts respectively will be subtitled in French rather than English.

You cannot rent movies from the French iTunes Store, and I'm not aware of any French-language movies in the US iTunes Store, though there could be some I'm unaware of.

Welcome to the  Discussion Forums.
I believe there are a couple of French films available, but I'm not so sure they are at all easy to find. I know I've purchased some that have been in German with English subtitles and unless I missed something saw nothing that indicated this would be the case. Sorry I can't be any more helpful.

If the movie has subtitles, the listing in the iTunes Store will indicate the language. See example below. Examine this carefully before purchase.

I See no such option - only 'erweiterte untertitel' (extended subtitles), which is already turnes off. It looks like th subtitles are rendered into the movie.
I also realized that some hollywood movies (eg (s)exlist) are offered in french dub to me and french movie description. Somehow apple must think i'm french - but i'm not. I just downloaded a french movie (la grande illusion) as my first item.

So... finally, movies has come to the german iTunes. Thats about time if you ask me and very welcomed
Only, as far as I can see (correct me if I'm wrong) , almost all the movies are presented in synchronized version only. I have found a few english films that had both german and english but that was just a few.
I cannot stand synchronized movies and I find it such a pity that you cannot purchase the movies in original language with subtitles. If I want watch a french movie I want to see it in french with subtitles. Goes for every language really.
Any hope that iTunes germany will introduce films with original language and subtitles anytime soon?
Since I cannot purchase from any other store outside germany without having a credit card and address in that country (stupid if you ask me), I guess I have to stick to the god old DVD for now where I can choose to purchase a movie with more languages and subtitles.

Tried to download mara 3d was told to go to French site. Need to get back to english site?

I tried to download an ap called mara3D facial expressions. Message sent me to a French download site. Now I am getting French language aps etc. How can I change that "STORE" back to US?
I have gone to settings in the set up and I am in "English" there. But in Itunes, I get French movies. Help?

Rented foreign movie on iTunes misses subtitles

I just rented Intouchables. It's a French movie and it misses subtitles on iTunes on Apple TV. How should I get the English subtitles?

Quicktime plugin works in IE and not in safari

I'm using Safari 2.0.1 for browsing the web. I'm on Tiger 10.4.2 and have QT7 pro.
Firewall is set to let Quicktime streaming pass through.
the following URL is extract from the allocine web site witch is the french movie portal.

under safari I've got the big blue Q and that's it. On IE it works fine.
Moreover on safari the end of the URL (beginning at RTSP) open quicktime player.
Sound to me like a bug but can't be sure.
You can check at www.allocine.com click on a movie and try to watch a trailer ("bande annonce" in french).
Moreover High definition trailer works fine on this site with quicktime....

Sorry but already done that. Quicktime is set to RTSP and SDP in the mime settings...
A person in the french forum got the salme problem than I and install IE. With IE he can got at allocine web site..
I'm convinced it's something to do with the HTML interpreter but can't point out.
On Safari the plugin seems not starting so I assume it's not the connexion and can't see why it would works under IE and not safari in this case...
Please, I don't want to why IE, get my Safari back to work on allocine web site with quicktime

PAL format on quick time

A newbie question. I just got a DVD from France and is in PAL format, I am trying to play it on my laptop and the DVD is getting rejected (without being able to play it). I thought that it does not matter if it is PAL or NTSC the computers can play either format. Is that correct? if not how do I play the French movie in PAL format?

They can. You are up against the Region Setting.
As you are in the USA your Superdrive is set for Region 1, Europe is Region 2 and so on.
The firmware in the Mac's Superdrive will allow that setting to be changed up to five times, after which it is set in stone for eternity.
What your Mac should have asked you is 'This DVD is for Region 2, do you wish to change region?' or words to that effect.
It would be safer for you to view that DVD in a stand-alone DVD player, assuming that yours can play PAL as well as NTSC DVDs. DVD players sold in Europe nearly always play both, but apparently that may not be the case in the US.
But DVD players are also affected by this silly Region thing, except that they can be set for 'multi-region' with a simple number code entered with the remote control. These codes are readily available for all DVD players, and you can google for them. I would provide a link but laws are different about this in Europe and the US.

I have downloaded french movie in .avi and it has .srt file with it with the subtitles. So when I go to burn the movie using burn in finder window how do I include the subs to work with it?

Media LIbrary's metadata in 2 (or more) languages ?

Hi, I'm using the Media Library, and I set the WD TV's interface in english, to have the Media Lib gather metadata about movies in english, since I watch mostly movies in this language. But I also have some french movies in french, and since my main language setting is english, the metadata for these french movies is fetched in english too... that's especially annoying for the titles, that are completely different in english that the original french titles ! So my question is : if I temporarily switch the main language to french before fetching metadata for a french movie, will it work the way I'd like it to ? Or will it re-fetch data in french for my whole Media Lib ? I didn't dare to test it yet

Language iTunes store content

I have an annoying issues that is also communicated with Apple. Ticket number 310028614
I live in Switzerland and my langauge preference is english.
If I enter the movie section in iTunes I am presented with German, Italian and French movies.
The English contents is just mingled in between the other languages and don't even know if English is a film language option.
Is it possible to set a language preference in my store profile as a filter?
The location should not just determine the content. I appreciate that content availability is country specific but that should not set my personal language preferences.
Why is it that Amazon does a far better job. For every movie you buy you know what the language options are.
Does anyone know of a solution?
