Frequency Analysis - batch automation Query

Hi,
I was wondering if its possible within adobe audition to automate a process of performing frequency analysis on a batch of audio files and saving the frequency analysis windows in individual bmp files?
There is a file batch utility which I am aware of for processing groups of files. However with the frequency analysis window - the only way of saving this window is by Alt-PrintScreen and manually saving file to another bitmap package.
Is anyone aware of a way/system/tools of achieving this ?
Thanks for any suggestions
- Darragh

ok, thanks for the tip.

There's no way of doing this within Audition, but I think that there are external batch process programs that might let you do this using Audition - if you see what I mean. I don't personally do things like that, but maybe somebody who does could recommend one? Alternatively, and probably rather a better bet, re-ask the question on the AudioMasters forum. You are more likely to get a meaningful response, quite frankly.

  • Is batch automation possible in lightroom?

I'm converting about 800 pictures from color to black and white for a bible study that will be printed . Ive tried several ways of converting using modes and techniques I found on other sites in photoshop but wasnt happy with results. These pictures are of landscapes and people. They all seemed either fuzzy or detail was lost so I decided to give Lightroom a try. I found lots of presets in the adobe marketplace for b & w conversion and wanted to know if batch automation was possible once I found one that I was happy with.

    WMMinistry wrote:
Which preset works best for black and white conversion of portraits?
That will depend on each image really, just experiment to find the one that works best for your purposes, it will depend on the file type as well - some are developed for raw and others for jpeg or tiff files. You can undo the application of a preset easily withe the usual undo command. Try testing on a Virtual Copy of one image.

  • Issues with Single Frequency Analysis

    Hi all,
I recently installed multisim 13 on a new computer. I went to do a simple single frequency analysis of an RC circuit and got some funny results. The magnitude of the voltages measured by the probes seem to be off, and I have never experienced this on any other computer I have used. I have tested it in multiple circuits and always get the same problem. I was wondering if there is some setting I am missing that will change this, but I have searched forums for two days now and haven't come across this particular issue. I have attached some images to show what I'm describing.
    Thank you

It looks to me like it's working properly for the default source "AC analysis magnitude" (1Vp).  How did you get the source to say "VRMS"?  What version of Multisim are you using?

  • Batch Automation, can it create multiple folders?

using CS2...I know how to create actions and use the Batch Automation thing but not sure how or if this is possible...
I have a ton of folders in one folder. inside each folder are a bunch of TIF files. I want to create an action to run as a batch to open that TIF, convert it to JPG then save in a separate folder with the same name in another folder. Basically im duplicating what I have in one folder to another folder with one being the original TIFs and the new set being JPG, all in folders of the same names.
Basically I know how to do all of this except when I set up the batch, it seems to only allow the new JPGs to be saved in a single folder. It can pull all the TIFs using the "include subfolders" in the source section but only places the new/revised file into a single folder. If this makes and sense, can it be done?

    Lark:
Bob's undoubtedly right. You can do this from bridge. To mirror the structure you duplicate it, action it (from Bridge?) and then you're done. To do it with Photoshop:
    1. Duplicate structure ("Big folder" becomes "Big folder copy"). Save "Big folder" as backup.
    2. Make an action by opening one of your pics, and then recording an action. Save as JPEG with the settings as you want. Stop recording. Close window and delete test JPEG.
    3. Automate...batch. Use your new action. Source is folder "Big folder copy". Make sure to select "embedded folders". Don't check anything else in the source area. Destination is "Save and close" and make sure to check the "override save options" box.
    4. Run it. Then you should be able to use Spotlight to search for all .tif files in folder "Big folder copy" and delete them from Spotlight.
I'm sure this is much slicker some other way (maybe even with image processor). But it works.

  • Frequency Analysis on Adobe Audition CS5.5 for bioacoustics research

    Hi everyone,
    In need of some help.
I research whale/dolphin sounds, and have previously used Raven Pro for analysis. Ive found Adobe Audition produces a much better spectrogram (think it must be the FFT algorithm) and allows me to visualize a lot of whale calls that I may have missed previously by visual inspection on other software.
I need to measure these calls. Basically I need the duration (seconds), minimum frequency (kHz), maximum frequency (kHz) etc.
I have played around with the Frequency Analysis tool in Adobe Audition, and this cannot compute these figures for me at all. In Raven, it was extremely user friendly, and all you had to do was highlight the call by moving your cursor over and selecting the call, and in the left hand window, it would tell you the min F and max F and duration for that swatch that you had highlighted. Is there any way of doing this in Adobe? I know you can visually see on the right hand side the Frequency axis- but it doesn't give you the exact frequency i.e. I need it to be to 2 decimal places eg. 2.12 kHz minimum etc.
I have inserted a screen grab of what I mean when you "highlight the call".
Is there any way of doing this? I would be incredibly surprized if Adobe Audition does not have the ability to do so. But I have read through the manual and gone through a lot of threads and just can't find any information on it. Any help would be greatly appreciated!!!!!!!
    Thankyou so much in advance
    Bec.
p.s. Whilst Im asking, is there anyway to change the time format in the "Selection/View" box? Ive seen you can display it many many ways, but I need it in seconds, and the most sensible time format is mm:ss.ddd. Is there anyway I can change it to just ss:ss? There are a bunch of options for frame times, but nothing else for actual time.

When you highlight a section, in the bottom right corner of the screen you'll find the timing section, and in there the box marked 'duration' will show you exactly how much time you've highlighted. In Frequency Analysis, the way to note highest and lowest frequencies is, unfortunately, manual and involves finding them with the cursor and noting the cursor information (under the display). If you open the advanced window, you'll get more information, including the level of the frequency at the cursor position. Also there's a bug in the display (or more to the point, the way it's calculated) which means that if you highlight just one section in the spectral view, this isn't what the Frequency Analysis display shows - I'm reporting that one.

No I'm afraid there isn't. I did try a cheat to see if I could at least get the timeline to do this, but that won't work either. Yes I think it should be there as an option too...

If you have labview 8.x or 9.x you can do this. Go to help in the toolbar. Select "Find Examples" and then search for sound. Locate the "Sound File to Sound Output.vi" This example will help in your task. Remember that Labview is shipped with a lot of useful examples. That can help you in your learning process
    Good luck
Ps you can also read wav files, and find examples  in Labview 7.x. But I do not know the name of the similar examples in 7.x
Edit: Please use zip files then you are not able to attach files. Do not link to sites outside. The site you linked to was very annoying. Could not download

  • Frequency analysis of time varying data

I want to add a routine for frequency analysis of before and after strong impulse on a body.
Some vibration sensors will be attached to the body.
In this case, I was told I need to use a time-varying method like wavelet or any other to analysis instead of simple FFT.
I installed wavelet package but I have no idea how to use it.
(Wavelet method seems to be popular in reduction of noise.)
Only what I want to know is the frequency elements in dynamics.
Can you recommend any tools (functions) for my purpose?
    Are there some LabVIEW examples?
I am using LV2009 and some extra toolkits (developer suites).

I want to ask some curious things.
    1. I have to analysis the spectrum of frequency in dynamic signal.
In case of presenting dB, how to know the frequencies?
    2. In high sampling rate (1MHz), the low frequency element can't be analyzed. (too small window for 60Hz in my last example).
If so, generally, do I have to down sampling to ~1kHz for the 1MHz in wavelet or short time FT?
Take a look on how the Express VI you are using are made. The Express VI you are using is located here
    C:\Program files\National Instruments\LabVIEW 2010\vi.lib\addons\Time Frequency Analysis\_express\_TimeFrequencySpectrogramConfig.llb
The VI you need to open is the configure.vi. Copy this VI to your user.lib folder before doing any work on it.
To answer your first question. The dB setting will change the Y axis scaling, and not the X axis scaling. Which is the frequncy axis
The step between each frequncy bin will be( number of Frequency bins/(Fsample/2)). So using 1 MHz may reduce resolution. Perhaps 10 KHz will be bettter for you to use.

There are several FFT VI's.  Probably the best for your case would be a power spectrum.

  • Time Frequency Analysis

Is there any way to perform time-frequency analysis(spectrogram ) in DIAdem? Ideally, I got like to play the waveform in one section of the VIEWER and other section of the VIEWER would have the spectrogram of the data within the band cursor.
Does anyone think this is possible in DIAdem?

    Hi Neuropotential,
What you're asking for is possible, but it's not an out of the box feature.  We have a posted example application for doing joint time frequency analysis in REPORT at
    http://zone.ni.com/devzone/cda/tut/p/id/3549
You could set the same sort of thing up in VIEW with the new 3D Contour Area available in VIEW in DIAdem 11.1.  I'm curious how you'd like the interactive part to work in VIEW and also how large your data sets are.

  • Joint time frequency analysis in Signal Express?

Is it possible to do joint time frequency analysis in Signal Express?  I didn't see it in the Analysis section, so I'm assuming it's a separate tool that has to be added, if even possible in Signal Express.  Help?
    Solved!
    Go to Solution.

SignalExpress does not natively support joint time frequency analysis.  However, check out the Sound and Vibration toolkit which expands upon SignalExpress.  It may do what you want.

  • Recording Actions and Batch Automation Issues

I'm not getting proper results when performing a batch automation on several images.
I've recorded an action performing several image modifications, these modifications are:
    1. I've set the Background layer and named it L1
2.I resized the image from 1600X1200 to 150X113
    3. I resized canvas size to 150X150
    4. I duplicated layer L1 and named it MIRROR
    5. I Transformed "MIRROR" layer by flipping it vertically
    6. I moved the "MIRROR" layer down until I obtain the proper mirror effect
    7. I saved the image as jpeg
    8. I stoped recording
    Now when I tryied doing:
Open several images of size 1600X1200/File/Automate/Batch
    with the following settings:
    -source: open files
-destination: folder (i chose a folder)
-Override action "Save as Commands" checked
The images were resized properly, the canvas size was correct layer was duplicated, and flipped vertically but MIRROR layer was not moved enough so I didn't get a perfect mirror effect.
There must be something wrong with the way I move my MIRROR layer when I record the action? Is there a way of moving an image by a number of pixels instead of using the keyboard arrows?
    Thanks for any help

    So it worked:
But now I have another challenging question.
How can i apply a gradient effect and have it recorded and apllied as automate/ batch to several images?
The effect I'm trying to obtain is this:
    steps I recorded are:
    1. Created a new layer and called it "background"
    2. I applied a gradient to "background" dragging the cursor from to to bottom and from middle to bottom again
    3. I arranged my layers so I can see the "mirror" layer
    4. I added a mask to the layer
    5. I applied gradient on the layer dragging the cursor from middle of image to bottom.
    I recorded the whole thing
It works on the original image in automate batch processing but for other images I get a white background or no change on the mirror layer???

  • I am using a DAQ board to get the singnal now i need to perform frequency analysis and this system doesn't employ any filters etc it's just a signal

Iam using AT-MIO-16E-2 board to retrieve the signal now i need to perfrom a frequency analysis and this process doesn't employ any filters etc.

There are a lot of shipping examples that you can look at. They're under Analyzing and Processing Signals>Signal Processing. There are software filters and window functions that you can use but if you are having aliasing problems, then the only thing you can do is add hardware filtering.

  • Problems with Frequency analysis

I use the frequency analysis a lot for comparing specific points on similar tracks.  Every once in a while, the freq anal will stop live-updating.  In fact, it will not register a changing in the cursor position on the edit or spectral freq view at all.  Has anyone had this problem and found a solution?
    Thanks,
    Senluga
ps, I have tried lowering the FFT size to no effect.

If you want to have the 'good frequencies', you must set your dt.
if you use LV6 and waveform, the dt is the inverse of your sampling
    frequency.
If you use older version, you can set your dt buy bundling dt value and the
array of point. you also can set the multiplier value in the
    attribute/propertie node.
dt is always the inverse of the sampling frequency.

  • Adobe's Frequency Analysis-VST VERSION

I really like the way you did about frequency monitoring in AA 2 or 3. And, to be honest, I'm used to it pretty quickly.
But, for some reasons, I am moved to another DAW. I have tried a LOT spectrum analyzers, tried all the best vst in this direction, and all they did not come close to subject.
So my predictable question to Adobe's developers: Can you make VST version of  frequency analysis, that contained in Adobe Audition 2/3? I'm really sure, that this idea will become popular and will get high demand. Thanks, I look forward to your wisdom.

Yeah, I see. Strategy for profit. But if take a look on the other side, it could've been the most powerful and popular plug-in in spectrum analysis, which could earn more money than AA that losing popularity to date.
Since Audition's sales figures appear to be rising, not falling, and nobody else seems to be that desperate for another spectrum analyser, I don't see the argument...
