Frequency measurement with PCI6624, timout problem at startup, i.e measure 0 Hz.

I want to use my PCI 6624 for measuring of frequency signals from a gear flow meter. The problem is that when I start running the VI there is no pulses from the flow meter and the VI stops to run and I get a Timeout error message. I.e is it possible to measure 0 Hz with the 6624 input used for frequency measurement?
With hardware from IOtech and Daisylab I don`t have this kind of problem.

I have attached the the solution given by NI for error code 200474, if its any use. The problem I have just found with this Vi is that if one channel has no signal it forces the other channel to grind to a halt. This problem has existed for me on the cards being used in this project PXI-6289 and PXI-6236, also other DAQ cards used in a different project earlier in the year.
It seems to be a serious flaw in the application of the NI DAQ cards to general purpose data logging where counter signals might not be connected by the end user or they are very low frequency and the whole system hangs.

Frequency measurement with pci6229

I’m trying to measure a frequency with my PCI 6229 device. This frequency can be between 1 and 200 Hz, so I use the one counter method. The problem with the signal is that there is a lot of jitter on it. So my device measures the frequency of the jitter and not the frequency of the square wave. What can I do to measure the signal right?
Another problem is the signal connection. I have connected the signal to the gate of the counter and the GND of my signal to the source. Is this the right way?

Hello Markske,
You will need to add a low pass filter on the signal that you are trying to measure to make sure that there is no high frequency noise that can get by.
Concerning the connection of your signal, it is only necessary to connect the signal you're interested in to the gate of the counter. The source would only be necessary in case you want to do the measurement with an external clock signal. If you choose to take an internal clock, the source can stay unconnected.
Using counters to measure frequency however is only possible with TTL-compatible signals (see link below). The screenshot that you added does not show a TTL-compatible signal so I presume this is due to some type of scaling that you added?

Is used for automotive purpose in CAM and CRANKSHAFT applications. So, I need to measure period, duty cycle, rise time, fall time, Vpp, Angles for each teeth x encoder, everything from 40 to 7500 rpm.
I'm using CH0 to measure a signal of this speed/position sensor.
I'm using CH1 to measure a signal of an encoder connected to wheel.
I'm using EXT Trigger to sync acquisition with encoder's INDEX signal.
I need to measure the frequency of EXT trigger to know the instantly speed of the wheel.
So, If I know that my encoder has 2048 pulse/rev, I can measure FFT_FREQUENCY of CH1 with scalar measurement functions and calculate the speed !
The NI-Scope is wonderful because it can measure a lot of things automatic and fast, like period, frequency, duty cycle, rise/fall times ...
Now I have one more question:
I want to use 10:1 attenuation but I can't use a common probe. I want to connect the CH0 to sensor with a special connector.
I've tried to make the same circuit with 9MOhms and capacitor like explained on site, but I reached bad results. The industrial probes has special characteristics for capacitance and noise rejection.
Do you know how can I solve it ?

Triggering frequency measurement with 9402 and cDAQ

I'm trying to take a speed measurement off of a shaft using a hall effect sensor and a 9402 module in a 4 module cDAQ 9174 chassis. I've used the low frequency measurement example using DAQmx but if the shaft isn't spinning I get a timeout error.
Two questions, is there a way to use the Express VI's to accomplish this and how do I create a trigger to start the measurement?

Why not clear the timeout and report 0 RPM. The timeout is 0 rmp but you dont want to wait forever and block program flow.

Frequency Response Function & FFT & Inverse FFT (problem of unit Volts-RMS)

Hello everyone,
I am currently working on a VI in order to compare two analog signals : the first one corresponds to the output signal (my reference) which is sent by my data acquisition card to a shaker and the second one corresponds to the input signal recorded by an accelerometer fixed on the same shaker. The final goal of the VI is to correct the analog output signal by using the analog input recorded signal in order to have the vibrations on the shaker which corresponds to what we really want.
To summary, I have a problem of unit with the Volts-RMS...
So this is my method for the VI :
First, I have to calculate the Frequency Response Function between the two analog signals (output and input). For it, I use the " Frequency Response Function (Real-Im).vi " which returns the complex values of the FRF in Volts-RMS (but I don't want to use this unit).
Then, I want to calculate the FFT of the analog output signal (my reference). There are two different blocs which can be used : " FFT Spectrum (Real-Im).vi " and " FFT.vi ".
The " FFT Spectrum (Real-Im).vi " returns the FFT complex values of the signal in Volts-RMS and the " FFT.vi " returns the FFT complex values in Volts (or say me if I am wrong, thank you). I really would like to use the second one because of the unit.
Then, I divide the FFT just calculated with the Frequency Response Function calculated just before.
For the end, I calculate the inverse FFT of that with the " Inverse FFT.vi " which use the complex values with the same unit than for the " FFT.vi ".
I don't want to use the Volts-RMS unit because I absolutly want to use the blocs " FFT.vi " and " Inverse FFT.vi ".
The problem is that I don't find a bloc which use the same unit for the Frequency Response Function. The " Frequency Response Function (Real-Im).vi " returns only the complex values in Volts-RMS unit. Maybe it is possible to convert it correctly? Or maybe there is an other bloc which can be used in order to calculate the Frequency Response Function with the same init than for the FFT and Inverse FFT ? Because I can't mix everything for the moment...

No, I have not use the Sound and Vibration toolkit. I have only used the signal processing toolkit with the two toolboxes " Waveform measurement " and " Transforms ".
But I think that what I have done for the moment in my VI is correct (I have finished the complete VI). But I am not sure of the units (Volts, Volts-RMS...) and I would like to understand.
I have tried with the Sound and Vibration toolkit for the frequency response function (because you say me that it deals with all the unit conversion) and I can obtain the same results than with the " Frequency Response Function.vi " of the toolbox " Waveform measurement ".
But I would like to understand the units (see my previous post please). For example, for the FFT (the result is a complex), why sometimes it is in Volts, sometimes it is in Volts-RMS ? Is it possible to convert it ? How ?
If you want, I can attach on the forum my VI and that will maybe help you to explain me. Maybe it will help other people interested.
And if someone else can give me other precisions or advices about it, do not hesitate.

I have a an iMac 27" and am trying to import some videos of a friends wedding into iMovie however one of the movies won't import. It doesn't say why or give any error message or codes. All of the other movies on the card download with out a problem.

The movie in question is not 'corrupt' as you can watch it in iMovie direct from the SD card but as soon as you try to import it, it just says 'error'. iIve tried moving the file to an external drive ( and other variations on this theme) then importing but have had no luck.

I have now found some video converter software (Wondershare and iSkysoft) at a cost. Either will convert this file for me into .mp4. This I can then import into iMovie without any problems. I've checked this on the trial versions and it worked well but without paying am left with a giant watermark in the video
The mystery (which I still havent solved) is why did 20 other .mts files import fine and then this one not?
If you could point me in the direction of some free .mts converter software that would be the cherry on the cake.

I'm assuming you have Photo Stream set up of both devices. However, it seems many users are experiencing the same as you - my take is that streaming photos is not foolproof yet.

I start my first post and introduction ever on this forum with a imposing problem with Aperture 3.03
I just did the upgrade to Aperture 3 & 3.03. Coming off Aperture 2, I was able to rotate, crop and do all the things I wanted by just placing the pointer while clicking, holding, and moving all at the same time with no issues. With Aperture 3.03, no such luck. I've noticed that now if I want to rotate an image or even crop an image the first effort to move anything is ignored. It shows all the signs of being ready to move something, but nothing happens, nothing moves on first try. If I stop the click and place click the second time it is responsive as usual....What gives???
Here is another issue. Cropping is all over the place and never right on the first try. Even if I have a set aspect ratio it does not provide me with the one I selected. I'm always getting the wrong aspect ratio even though the right one is selected. If I pick "Master Aspect Ratio", I get a variable ratio instead of a fixed ratio??? If I click again it changes again. This program is not stable!!
One other thing has anyone noticed that you cannot use the arrow keys to move from one picture to another after editing the photo?? It is happening to me. If I complete an edit and want to move to the next photo, the program will not respond to key commands in any way. I'm forced to return to Browser mode and even then it seems hit or miss whether is responds to key commands again. navigating seems to be a big impediment when actively editing.
So, am I the only one with these problems???

I don't see any of these issues! You have listed several, disconnected issues. Perhaps you should pick one of them, and give us a blow-by-blow of your action steps.
For rotation, click that button at the bottom of the View window, and then use one of the [ or ] bracket keys as listed for direction.

I have been working at this for about 4 hours now with no success and I am getting pretty frustrated, so if it show up in my typing please ignore it. I just don't understand why these multi-million dollar companies can't write a manual or put up a web site that can actually help someone with a problem.
Ok, venting aside.
I am running a gateway computer.
Operating System = XP
Router = Linksys WRT54G
I have two other computers that are working fine with the existing wireless net work and have been for some time.
I'm pretty good with my computer but haven't touched my router since initial set-up and all that was done was a basic set up.
My I-pod is searching for a network and I'm three feet away from it but it doesn't find it.
I printed out my wireless setting. I presume SSID name equals the name box on the ipod-touch
Security = WEP
What seems to be kicking my A$$ is the password. The route setting have never been changed so I would pesume the password should be the default "admin" which I put in (JOIN) and get the "Could not find network" screen
So, I have perused this message board trying to discover and answer to mine, and and apparently many others question with no definitive results.
So I guess what I and everybody else needs is a step by step how to guide on how to discover the info needed and enter in what we need to make this work.
Thanks in advance to anybody that can actually help with this issue. A step by step do this would be nice.

Step: 1 followed step one previously, Main screen, settings, Wi-Fi. Also set power down to 5 min to give I-Pod plenty of time to find network.

At this point the I-pod does not find any networks available. The indicator just spins but never returns any results. I am 3 feet for my WRT54G router.
Hence the easy connect isn't connecting.

First Question? Which Name are they looking for. when I went to my router 192.168.1.1 It has the name linksys. However, when I go to my Wireless Network setting it has the name * ???? * which is different than Linksys router.
Now, since one of the goals here is file sharing I presume I should be using the Wireless Network settings name. (which I have tried.)
Next is security, Wireless Network setting indicate setting for WEP Once this is selected you then back-up to the "Enter Network Setting Screen" and you now have a password line added.
Now I have never set a password for the router so the password for the router is the default Password "admin" And I don't recall ever setting a password for my network setting. But, I only use about three different passwords and a cycled through them still with no success.
So, I need some expert advise on how and where to find the info to input into the required field to work or what I need to reset in my router to make this work.
Thanks again for anyone who has constructive input to resolve my and probably many other peoples issues with this problem.

You didn't mention what error(s) you've encountered? A workaround for the most commonly hit problem is here Re: error in Muse : Object UID:U6875 has two (or more) owners: U3633 and U3165
If you have a copy of your .muse file that has not been saved using 2014.3, you can downgrade by uninstalling Muse and then choose Previous Version in the Filters drop down in the Apps panel of the Creative Cloud desktop app. There will be a popup next to Muse where you can select a prior version to install.
