Frequent ADSL reconnects with Homehub 2.

Problem: Frequent (>20 per week) ADSL reconnects resulting in varying IP Profiles sometimes down to 0.135Mb using Homehub 2.
BT Support actions: Several hours of phone calls at various support levels over three months leading to two BT technician visits. The first visit involved relocating the master socket and tidying the extension connections; the second resulted in a better specification circuit, between the exchange and the cabinet, being selected. Both are useful improvements but did nothing to solve the problem. An attempt to convince Support that the Homehub may be faulty was unsuccessful.
My (subsequent) action: Connected another Homehub 2 (one which had been replaced by BT some years ago to solve a different problem) and problem completely solved. I have had a stable good speed link for over a month now.
Conclusion: BT may find it cheaper to try replacing Homehubs earlier in the fault finding process.

  • Frequent kernel panics with MPB 2.0 with 2GB RAM

I have been having frequent kernel panics with my MPB. I have 2GB of RAM that came pre-installed from the factory. This seems to happen most often when I am using external firewire drives. Has anyone out there had similar problems?

I've done the permission repairs. Also zapped the
PRAM. Ran the hardware test off the installer DVD
and it immediately came back with an error code
(4MEM/1/60000000:) and told me to contact Applecare.
I called Applecare and they were not very helpful.
The operator I spoke with had no idea what the
error code meant. He told me that RAM either works
or it doesn't. The PRAM zap was done at his
suggestion. Hasn't changed a thing. The kernel
panics have only grown more steady over the past
couple of weeks. More frustrating are frequent and
repeated application crashes (even simple stuff like
Safari, Mail, Address Book and Preview). Applecare
suggested I do a clean install of the OS. But it
sounds like a hardware issue to me. The app crashes
are occurring in different accounts on my MPB. I
don't want to spent a half-day reinstalling all of
my software only to have the issues continue. I'm
going to try to re-seat the RAM and then make an
appointment at the genius bar to have them take a
look at this. It had been running perfectly for the
    first few weeks.
If you had an error code during the Hardware Test your MBP has a problem. The 4MEM/1/60000000: maybe linked to bad RAM or not seated correctly. If not seated correctly it will not boot, so it sounds like a bad RAM slot or memory stick.

  • Drop from game servers a lot with HomeHub 2.0

Im using HomeHub 2.0 on Win7 and I get a lot of disconnects from online game servers even though the connection is stable. I never had this problem with my old BT modem on the same games. I came to the conclusion that it has to be something to do with HomeHub 2.0...
    Any Ideas?

Mines been doing that the last couple of days.
My connection doesn't lose sync but I lose connection to the internet.
Strangely when it happens it's usually on the hour.
It happened just before 11 last night then just before midnight. This morning it happened just before 8.
My router logs says PPP link down.

  • TS3274 ipad mini suddenly lost wi-fi and will no longer reconnect with known networks

My ipad mini (wi-fi only) suddenly lost wi-fi connection and will no longer reconnect with known networks...
Its done it to 2 seperate networks (home and work) which makes me think its the ipad rather than a network problem...??
Ive tried to forget the network and then re-join but i keep getting the message "Unable to join the network"
Any clues on how to fix??

    Hello moniciampi
Continue with resetting the network settings on your iPad mini by going to Settings > General > Reset > Reset Network Settings. There are some other options to test out with the steps in the article below.

  • Frequent/periodic import with Import Server

    Hi everyone,
I just read that the MDM "Import Server" allows for doing frequent/periodic imports. It was also stated that this frequent/period import only works with importing files. And furthermore, that the reason for this restriction lies in MDM's link to SAP XI.
So what if I frequently/periodically want to import from an MS SQL server? Could I do this by working with SAP XI? (I haven't worked with XI yet)
    Best regards, Daniel

  • Frequent screen freezes with os 10.8.3

I am experiencing frequent screen freezes with OS 10.8.3 on my 27" iMac, Late 2009. Sometimes while using Safari, sometimes while using Photoshop CS5.1, Sketchup 8, or other software. Rarely does it coincide with a processor intensive operation. I have not had this problem since my old white G5 iMac. Then it was aleading indicator that the CPU or power supply needed replacing (I went through 5 processors and 6 power supplies with that machine.) I took my current iMac in to the Apple Store and had it checked out. Hardware checked out fine, but the freezes are becoming more frequent. Does anyone have any suggestions?

The next time you have the problem, note the exact time: hour, minute, second.
If you have more than one user account, these instructions must be carried out as an administrator.
Launch the Console application in any of the following ways:
☞ Enter the first few letters of its name into a Spotlight search. Select it in the results (it should be at the top.)
☞ In the Finder, select Go ▹ Utilities from the menu bar, or press the key combination shift-command-U. The application is in the folder that opens.
☞ Open LaunchPad. Click Utilities, then Console in the icon grid.
Make sure the title of the Console window is All Messages. If it isn't, select All Messages from the SYSTEM LOG QUERIES menu on the left. If you don't see that menu, select
    View ▹ Show Log List
    from the menu bar.
Scroll back in the log to the time you noted above. Select any messages timestamped from then until the end of the episode. Copy them to the Clipboard (command-C). Paste into a reply to this message (command-V).
When posting a log extract, be selective. In most cases, a few dozen lines are more than enough.
Please do not indiscriminately dump thousands of lines from the log into this discussion.

    Hello brajeshchandra79,
Good job on troubleshooting your issue with No SIM on your iPhone. The last few steps would be to restore your iPhone. If that does not help, then the next step would be to contact Apple for additional support.

I have been trying to download the movie Prometheus onto my Ipad. It sticks at 793mb and hasn't moved for hours. I have 48gb of space on my i-pad and have hard resetted and turned off and switched back on, always reconnecting with wi-fi immediately. It doesn't resume?
I haven't even received an email stating I have been charged for it???
    Any ideas??

Well I have an update. I decided to stay as I was so far down the road. They gave me an engineer appointment of 14 of August which was totally disgusting.
I rang up to complain and was promised a call back as they tried to expediate my request. Never happened.
Whilst on these calls I also questioned the validity of sending another engineer unless they first checked that my local cabinet hard an available fibre port. I was promised and promised that they would put the notes on the call and it would not be a wasted engineer visit.
Engineer came today. Wasted visit - no ports on the cabinet.
He was not even sure why he was sent there knowing there were no ports. Talk about the blind leading the blind.
The incompetency of this corporation is absolutely astounding even when their customers are telling them they are going to fail they lie to your face just to appease you on the phone and move you on.
So I ordered my switch from sky to BT on June 6th.. and so far all I have is a phone line.
On top of this I noticed that they have charged me a late payment fee by DD and full line rental for first month. BT were so slow at installing it all that my up front line rental apparently did not cover their initialy switch over. Despite telling me I would not be charged I have been charged.
Now as a web designer I am now tempted to create basic website and use my SEO skills to push it to top of google rankings sharing with everyone of my experience of BT.

  • HT204161 How can I reconnect with new PC and set up a network

I am using an iOS 8.2 on Apple iPad 2.  How do I reconnect with a Home network ?  If so, how do I do it?

Go to Settings > WiFi, tap on the name of your network when it appears, enter your password and then hit join.

  • For four years Ive been unable to use my home network as anticipated. I have ADSL connection with O2, airport extreme, three expresses, two minis 10.6.8 and 10.7.3, and two pros 10.6.8 and 10.7.3, and a cinema thbolt display. Id like to use bbc iplayer.

I am unable to stream video and I lose connection frequently. Ive tried it using wireless connection and with ethernet. Ive tried using the O2 router (%series) as a modem for the extreme, Ive tried using the O2 without the extreme - not poss to extend network but MUCH faster, and Ive tried using a variety of other routrers and modems. My flat is 10m x 6m, there are no other wireless devices within or immediately adjoining except for my wireless landline phone that I have changed three times. Every single piece of my home network has been to the genius bar at least three times and the entire network with all devices has been taken twice. Genius bar have found either no fault or no explanation. Applecare dont seem able to tie their own shoe laces and have been worse than useless, suggesting things like checking a plug fuse (good advice but not relevant). I met a chap socially who turned out to be an apple employee home networking specialist. He offered to look at it and came to my flat. I quote him now: "F**k me, its just not supposed to do tha., Theres something seriously wrong with the system. It's an Apple problem completely". However, despite repeated requests I have not been invited to escalate the issue beyond the genius bar. Enen though everything possible is apple (they dont make a modem for ADSL??), all I get from them is it must be the fault of something else.
PS Ive had my O2 connection checked tens of times and paid for a bt engineer to check my line 4 times.
PPS The thunderbolt display was sold to me after I refused one on the grounds that the location of my mini was more than 2 metres from the display, and the salesperson reassured me that the thunderbolt connection was universally available and that  would have no problem connecting the display to my mini 5 metres away.
I may well not be  too bright when it comes to computers, but with their attitude of there being NO SUCH THING AS A BAD/FAULTY APPLE PRODUCT, ONLY SILLY CUSTOMERS WHO HAVENT WORKED OUT HOW TO USE THEM YET, I wish I will soon see their brand will rot in commercial oblivion ****. I have focused this on home netwrking but that is the tip of the iceberg. However, having invested so much of my life and my money in what I have, please can any of you good people out there show me the foolish error of my simple ways?

Hi Zac, sorry to hear about your troubles, but that's why us other users are here to try to help in these instances.

  • Powerline/Homeplug Issues with Homehub 5

    Hello all,
Having an intensely annoying intermittent issue with Powerline adapters & HH5.
    Set up is:
BT Broadband Extender flex connected to HH5 upstairs with a BT Wifi Home Hotspot downstairs (just to increase wifi coverage)
TP Link TL-PA211 Powerline adapter also connected to HH5 upstairs with 2 other TL-PA211s downstairs (1 for Sky demand & 1 for PS3...different rooms)
They have all worked at same time!......but
Intermittently - the PS3 TL-PA211 will stop working & then "re-connect" of its own doing later & the Wifi Hotspot will stop working (no data light either upstairs or downstairs) & then spring into life of its own accord eg. last night it did it overnight!
I have done no end of pairing & unpairing ritruals & full resets to the point where I think I might need a new stair carpet.
I'm now beginning to think there might be an issue with the homehub?
I'm aware of its "smart" capabilities & switching etc.......is there any setting that I need to look at or a re-boot or refresh or anything?
    Thanks in advance all!

    Would agree with gk406.
Firstly - leave the hub alone.
When you set up a home network system, despite 'out of the box solutions' coming with two adaptors, one to wire via ethernet to the router and another to position wherever, if you connect both systems directly to the router it can cause compatability issues, as both will fight for control of the 'satellite' adaptors to the point they don't know which one to communicate through, so they end up not doing anything. I am guessing the odd disconnections/reconnections is due to Sky taking control of the system - checking for updates etc in the middle of the night, then relinquishing control once having carried out its checks so the other device can reconnect...
Pick one system to use (shouldn't really matter if both 200mb or 500mb systems- though I have a mixture of both so have the 500mb adaptor plugged into the router) though I am thinking the TP Link as they are the most prevalent in your system, and unplug the other. Connect one device (of the chosen system) via ethernet to the router, connect its paired mates and ensure all works as advertised and the boxes you have connected to it can get online. I would check the Skybox under its own settings to confirm it is connected - they can sometime refuse to connect and need to be powered down and back up to let them see the network.  You could also take a note of its IP address to make sure you can see it on the network, then trial download something from On Demand to verify all is OK. If TP Link comes with any software to monitor the adaptors make sure all is up and running.  I guess at this point you could leave the BT system off, to make sure you don't get any odd disconnections overnight.
Once that is verified, connect only one of the other BT devices and check it connects up to the network, and that you can connect to it.
For this step, to save both your legs and carpet, I suggest you do this upstairs next to your router. I tend to get all my powerline adaptors in one room with the router and a laptop, then set them up on a power brick - purely to make sure they all connect to the network and that I can connect to them using the laptop - THEN distribute them around the house, verifying each one in turn connects OK before I move to the next.
Obviously you could do this the other way around, by plugging the BT adaptor into the router and your BT hotspot adaptor downstairs, then just using the two TP adaptors for your sky and PS3 - there shouldn't be any reason for it not too work.
Hope that helps - apologies for length!

  • SRP546W: ADSL reconnect makes router failing

    Dear all,
I'm using a Small Business SRP546W router with integrated ADSL Annex B modem as internet and VPN gateway. I installed the newest firmware 1.2.4 and configured the router properly. Everything seems to work fine (VPN, internet connection etc.) until a scheduled reconnect of the internet connection. The router is after the point of reconnect approximately 1-2 minutes not reachable via webinterface from the internal network. The status LEDs on the front for the ADSL Line are now all off. But the router is telling, that it is still connected to the internet, the ADSL Line ist up and running, and is assigned a correct IP even if I disconnect the cable between the router and the splitter.  When going to the status tab and clicking on the ADSL status the webpage goes blank and a new login is required. Resetting the router makes everything going fine until the next reconnect. Using an external ADSL modem on the ethernet WAN port solves the problem for now, but this is not a long term solution. In addition the backup of the routersettings is no longer possible, it saves only a file which is about 127bytes with a 404 failure in it. Saving the settings was working before the firmware update. I thought the router hardware may be broken so I replaced it with a new one, but the same problems still persists. I downloaded the firmware file severeal times from the Cisco support page to ensure that there is no transmit failure.
I already opened a discussion in the german part of the forum two weeks ago (https://supportforums.cisco.com/message/3615186#3615186)
, but didn't get any response. Hopefully I reach more people in the english part of the forum and someone can help me. If you need more information please tell me and I'll get it. Thanks in advance.

An update to this ridiculous issue:
I have just moved house. New router managing my home network. Yesterday I setup, from scratch, my HP 3050 printer. Printed and scanned across the wireless network fine.
This morning, the printer still has a steady blue led indicating wireless connection. It still shows a valid IP address within the wireless menu on the printer. But upon trying to print or scan from any machine on the network I get the 'printer not found' mesage again.
Basically, the only way to use this product reliably is to use the USB connection. Which kind of defeats the object of buying a wireless printer!!!
Rest assured, I am now convinced, after months of troubleshooting and experimenting that this printer will be going in the bin and I will be buying a new wireless printer and scanner, and I can assure you IT WILL NOT BE AN HP MODEL!!!
