Frequent crashes and freezes on iPhone 3GS

My 3GS I recieved after Christmas last year has been freezing and crashing everday for a few months. The screen locks up and displays odd pink lines, it shuts off randomly, or just freezes. Is it worth taking it in? I just hard reset it everytime, it doesn't effect anything.
On another note, where can I get new earbuds? I've had several pairs from different products and they've all broke.

Of course you should take it back.
I cannot believe how many people live with fault equipment for months without doing something about it and then discover that the product is out of warranty.
If your phone is under warranty, and by the sound of it you are almost out of date, take it back to Apple for it to be looked at.
If it has hardware issues, then they will replace it, if it's software issues they 'should' be able to fix it.
Before you take it back though, make sure you sync everything to your computer because if they replace it, you will get a fresh phone with none of your data on it.
Earbuds are a consumer choice, Apple make them as do many other companies, and many are very low in quality. Again, if they break without too much abuse, I would be going back to the manufacturer and demanding a replacement/refund for them too.

  • Square app crashing and freezing on iphone 4

I have a square app and device to process my cc and last 2 days keeps on crashing and freezing
I have an iphone 4 and it is up to date with all the updates, is it the app itself? the phone company? the phone?
I am very frustrated. Has this happened to anyone? what do I need to change? or Do?
    thanks

I forgot to mentioned that as an ONLY solution I kept on RE-installing the app 7 times!!!
that seemed to be THE ONLY WAY TO FIX THE PROBLEM, horrible and frustrating, has anyone experienced the same type of problem?

  • SOLVED: crashes and freezes

Ever since upgrading to SL, I have suffered frequent crashes and freezes which eventually bring the whole system down, and I have to Restart. Our IT guys (thanks Paul O'Connor) came up with a solution that reliably works for me. It possibly may have nothing to do with problems other people are experiencing, but I thought I'd share it with everyone, because it has been such an effective solution for me.
    1. When first logging on, open Terminal (found in Applications>Utilities).
    2. Type: 'sudo launchctl' and enter an admin password at the prompt.
    3. Leave the terminal window open where you can get at it when needed.
    4. When an application freezes or the Mac starts to behave badly, go to the Terminal window and type:
    'stop com.apple.DirectoryServices' <return>
    then
    'start com.apple.DirectoryServices' <return>
For me, this brings my frozen apps magically back to life.
I hope this helps a few others,
    Julian Blow

So what do if I do if terminal stopped working ever since I installed Snow Leopard? Also, in root mode, I am not even allowed to use the sudo command since it says both root and my main account are not in the sudoers file.
Looking at these threads on "Using Mac OS X 10.6 Snow Leopard", almost none are about using features in the OS. They are all about how SL screwed up their computer and apps. Apple should be deeply concerned.

  • Iphone Crashing and Freezing

Hi! I'm mostly looking to see if I have a lemon or if others are experiencing the same problems I have been having with my iphone. My iphone crashes and freezes several times daily. I have to reboot at least once a day, and often more than that. I've already sent the iphone to apple for repairs, and it came back with the exact same issue. I could live with the $200 dollar decrease in cost, but for that extra 200 dollars, I would love an iphone that is reliable!
Most of the other users I've seen here seem to be experiencing only intermittent crashing, and specifically of utilities...they usually find themselves back in the start screen. My phone is freezing...literally no brain activity. Please let me know if you have the same problems.

I am not sure that you should be subjected to the Freezing and Crashing on a continued basis as you describe.
As I have said before, Resetting and Restoring merely bypasses the fact that you are not fixing the problem but in fact putting a Band Aid on a mortal wound. These freezes are associated with a malfunction in the iPhone, whether it be software or hardware, it is a iPhone problem.
You should get down to the Apple Store and tell them what is happening and either get a replacement or assistance in helping you get your iPhone sent to Applecare.
    I would not wait.

  • New to Apple TV - do they all crash and freeze like this?

I have had mine for about 10 days. I have had it freeze (and do the diagnostics/restart) about 15 times.
I am starting to get the hang of it. It seems to hate a bunch of my videos (encoded home movies mostly - used Handbrake and VisualHub's Apple TV setting). I can get it to crash 'on demand' on a few videos.
What gives with the crashing? Can't it just choke on a video and refuse to play? Many times the crashing does not seem to be specific to a video though.
I have tried the diagnostics - it reported that it was fine. I tried the system restore .. still having trouble. I am thinking if I restore it again I should stick to the first firmware (ie: not update). Might that help?
Things are working better with the sync'ing now that I know that iTunes must be open - and I disabled the Windows 7 firewall rather than just poking the hole for the port Apple was requesting.
Anyway - I am really disappointed. The iPhone remote is great, I love having my iTunes library in sync - but lack of 1080p and these crashes are driving my family crazy. I am probably gonna return it, but hoping for some ideas...

do they all crash and freeze like this?
    No, they don't.
Take a look at this document to see what formats are supported and how to properly convert them.
    http://support.apple.com/kb/HT1532
This next document is very specific as to the formats that will play.
    http://support.apple.com/kb/SP19
iTunes has the ability to convert movies to the proper format. So does Quicktime Pro. For the record, though, I have converted a number of videos using the Mac version of Handbrake and have had no issues what-so-ever playing those files.

  • Using Aperture 3.51 I am having frequent crashes and freez ups when editing Canon raw files?

    HI,
I have an IMac with 4 G of Ram and am using Apeture 3.51. When trying to edit CS2 raw files I experience frequent crashes and freez ups of the whole computer. Any suggestions?

You didn't mention any color calibration being done on your monitor.  This is an essential part of any color-correct workflow.  What are you using to calibrate your monitor (and your printer)?
Print profiles (for soft-proofing as well as printing) are for specific combinations of paper & printer.  The nine you have are each, most likely, for a common paper (perhaps mfr'd by Canon) to be used with your printer.
I don't know what you mean when you say "I choose a high standard print option".
Have you read the User Manual chapter on printing?

There is also a good appendix on calibration:

  • My iPad air keeps crashing and freezing when browsing the internet . Please help :(

My husband and I updated to the new OS. Now our iPad Air's keep crashing and freezing whilst browsing the internet.  We have done a reset and swiped away pages but nothing is helping. Its very frustrating Can anyone help? Thank you Jo

Please tell me that it has NEVER been jailbroke.  If it has not been jailbroke, here are some standard repair procedures:
First, confirm that this is what you did for a "reset."  Hold down the on/off switch and the Home button simultaneously until you see the Apple logo.  Ignore the "Slide to power off" text if it appears.  You will not lose any apps, data, music, movies, settings, etc.
If the Reset doesn't work, try a Restore.  Note that it's nowhere near as quick as a Reset.  It could take well over an hour!  Connect via cable to the computer that you use for sync.  From iTunes, select the iPad/iPod and then select the Summary tab.  Follow the on-screen directions for Restore and be sure to say "yes" to the backup.  You will be warned that all data (apps, music, movies, etc.) will be erased but, as the Restore finishes, you will be asked if you wish the contents of the backup to be copied to the iPad/iPod.  Again, say "yes."
At the end of the basic Restore, you will be asked if you wish to sync the iPad/iPod.  As before, say "yes."  Note that that sync selection will disappear and the Restore will end if you do not respond within a reasonable time.  If that happens, only the apps that are part of the IOS will appear on your device.  Corrective action is simple -  choose manual "Sync" from the bottom right of iTunes.
If you're unable to do the Restore (or it doesn't help), go into Recovery Mode per the instructions here.  You WILL lose all of your data (game scores, etc,) but, for the most part, you can redownload apps and music without being charged again.  Also, since you have IOS-7, read this.

  • Crashes and Freezes - too many to count in the last 48 hours

I generally Love Premiere and the whole CC suite. But this week the program continually freezes and just stops functioning. I've restarted both the program and my computer at least 20 times in the last 48 hours... you can how this is impacting my time and deliverable... which is due today BTW. I've edited a ton of projects in premiere but lately it seems to be crashing and freezing ALOT. I'm a professional and my demands are professional. Its when my tools start to let me down that I become disappointed and discouraged.
    My question is WHY?
I would think that by now Premiere would be rock solid. Why is it not?

I *think* I found one of the issues... Red Giant Universe plugins seem to freeze up the system. So I yanked them off all my timelines and the freezing seemed to stop.
I also had strange issues with Red Epic footage and I believe the culprit for those was the Red Gamma 4 setting. Not scientific by any means but...

  • TS4242 since updating and restoring my iphone 3gs it no longer can find my sim itunes cant activate it because no sim inserted can anyone help

since updating and restoring my iphone 3gs it no longer can find my sim itunes cant activate it because no sim inserted can anyone help

That usually means the phone was hacked or jailbroken to unlock the phone and when you update the phone it locked back up again.
Only way to resolve this issue, is to find out who the orignal carrier was and have them unlock it.  If you bought this from a 3rd party contact the seller and have him/her unlock it for you by contacting the phone carrier.

  • I no longer have any contractual obligations, and i have iphone 3GS and iphone 4, I want to change carrier, but my phones are locked. Help

I no longer have any contractual obligations, and i have iphone 3GS and iphone 4, I want to change carrier, but my phones are locked. Help
    I live in Lithuania.
    BR

Contact the carrier the devices are locked to.  Apple has nothing to do with this and will not unlock any iPhone for end users.
If the carrier offers unlocking and you meet their requirements, they will then submit the information to Apple to have the device unlocked.

  • Windows 8.1 crashes and freezes

I am running Windows 8.1 on Samsung series 5 ultrabook equipped with:
    - AMD A4-4355M  processor
    - AMD Radeon HD 7400G (integrated graphics)
Recently I have used samsung recovery tool and got my laptop to initial state(from the day of the first turn on), with the first start after recovering multiple actualizations were automatically downloaded and installed and everything was running smoothly
for a week or so. Problems occurred two days ago, when for no apparent reason my computer was crashing and freezing displaying wide vertical stripes of the colour that was dominating on the screen at the moment of crashing. Those crushes were occurring 3 to
5 minutes after turning on the computer. I have managed to download and install newest recommended graphic drivers, however it hasn't helped at all.
In my desperation I have recovered system one more time yesterday, during recovering process (lasting 20min) everything was ok, and after turning on the system everything is working UNTIL I open IE, then the same problem instantly occurres.

    Hi Gbonaert,
This kind of issue might be caused by incompatible add-ons or corruption during update.
Reset Internet Explorer then check the issue again.
    http://windows.microsoft.com/en-us/internet-explorer/reset-ie-settings#ie=ie-11
    If the issue still persists
Try disable/removing add-ons in your Internet Explorer, or you also could start Internet Explorer under no add-on mode.

  • IPad crashing and freezing after 8  ios updates

My iPad 1 has been crashing and freezing after completing the most recent ios updates, what could be wrong?

Can there be any person who can say that Apple treats customers as valuable persons ?
Way how IPAD 2 users are treated, served and issues solved shows clearly how they just care of new purchases. All crashes, slowness, battery consumption, extremely bad user experience with slow and jamming UI etc... Anyway this is over now with me as I'm moving out from IPAD / IOS due this experience. Ride was a good but now its over as trust is totally destroyed by Apple.

  • Software crashing and freezing

Photography software 'Capture one' keeps crashing and freezing and is incredibly slow at processing images (most of the time it doesn't even process them).
I have updated my OS and done all manner of system diagnosis which all came back clear. I also updated the software to my appropriate OS.
The software company ran out of ideas to help me and suggested it might be damaged memory on my iMac.
Even though I have enough space on my existing memory chips I bought brand new and larger memory, but the problem persists.
    Any suggestions?
    Many thanks,

Is it just the one program? If so I'd suspect something other than bad memory. If it is just the one program I'd think more along the lines of software incompatibility. Have you tried creating a new account, logging out of your normal account and logging into the new account to run the software? This is a typical Mac troubleshooting technique so you may have already tried it but if not, do so.
