Frequent crashes when exporting audio from mov
Hey, all. I do a lot of post audio work and must first convert my mov files to DV AVI. Video conversions work nearly 100% of the time, but I frequently get crashes when using the Sound to Wav export (better to have a separate audio reference track to accompany the video). This has been happening forever, but I just did a clean install of XP Pro, SP3, installed the latest QT and authorized with my Pro license, and still get a crash. I've never been able to detect a pattern related to particular types of movies, and it often happens even when all default settings are unchanged. Any ideas as to what would cause this? Thanks.
In trying workarounds, I exported the clip as a movie from FCP then tried to open it in Soundtrack Pro. STP closed. I also tried opening the (sent).stap file that FCP generated, and Soundtrack Pro closed again. Also, STP does not give me the error window saying the program closed unexpectedly and do I want to report it. It just stops. Any thoughts? Thanks a lot.

Logic bounces unwanted audio when exporting audio to movie
Hey all,
So as the title says, Logic seems to be bouncing a few tracks that i've now completely deleted from the Logic project. I even removed them from the bin.
Every time I try to export audio to movie these audio tracks come up in the exported .mov. I have no clue why this is happening. Any thoughts?Hi
Are these audio tracks that were/are embedded in the movie?
When bouncing to a (new) movie, these audio tracks are automatically included unless you opt out (de-select them).

Problem when exporting audio from Premiere Pro v4.2.1 into wave 5.1 format
Hello to Adobe experts!
After installing of last updates for Adobe Premiere Pro (v4.2.1) and for Media Encoder (v4.2.0.006) the was a problem:
Now I cannot to export audio from adobe sequence into uncompressed wave format with 5.1 channels settings. Source m2ts video files in sequence are with 5.1 audio.
What I doing:
1) in Premiere I execute "File\Export\Media"
2) Export settings are:
- format: Windows Waveform
- audio codec: Ucompressed
- basic audio settings: 44100Hz, Channels: 5.1, Sample Type 16bit
3) After OK button it opens Adobe Media Encoder.
4) After pressing Start Queue in Adobe Media Encoder there is a message "Error compiling movie. Unknown error"
In earlier versions it worked fine.
Can you help me with this problem?
AlexanderHere are the options, from a sequence with 5.1 master track:
and with Surcode:
Notice that first one does only give stereo as an option. Nothing more. With Surcode it gives you 5.1 sound. -
No audio when exporting audio to movie using DAE
I'm starting to merge my DAE world into Logic and so far so good, until I try to export audio to movie.
The movie bounces out really fast and then there's no audio on it. Is there something special I have to do to bounce audio to movies when using DAE?can i import it into iMovie and then export to ipod?
Any attempt to import or drop a non-DV file into iMovie will automatically invoke a routine which will convert the source file into a DV file for editing within iMovie. Since QT cannot create separate audio and video tracks for a muxed (combined single audio/video track), you with still end up with a video track and no audio in iMovie.
The normal work flow is to rip the VCD and then convert the muxed program stream into an MPEG1 and then use an MPEG based third party application to convert to an iPod compatible format. Applications like MPEG2 Works 4 ($25)can perform all phases of this operation and I assume (but have not tested) that MPEG StreamClip (free) may also be capable of handling VCD/SVCD sourced programs. -
Can anyone help me.

That can fix a lot of weird problems.
Go to:
Hard Drive> Applications --> Utilities
And run Disk Utility.
Choose your hard drive on the left, and click the button at the bottom that says "Repair Permissions".
Then, see what happens.
If that doesn't work, then I would just perform a fresh install on a system with those types of symptoms.
You could try an archive and Install which should hold your data in-place.
But, quite honestly, with a system like this, you are far better backing-up your important files to an external drive (like DVD-R or an external hard drive).
I would install from scratch.
You could then install the latest Combo updater for your system. In this case 10.4.7.
I'm sure there are lots of other things you could try. But, with symptoms like these I would personally just backup my data and perform a clean install.
If you perform a clean install, then you could be sure all the bugs are gone.
If your data is backed-up (and you have verified that the data is definitely on your backup disks), then boot the computer from the original restore DVD's.
Then, in the Installer choose the "custom" button and choose "Erase and Install".
Then, re-install, and get the latest "Combo" update installed on your fresh installation.
This would be your definite fix.
Now, if you are not ready for such drastic measures, then you can continue trouble-shooting. But, I personally wouldn't take a chance on this kind of bug remaining.
Hope this helps. -
Export Audio To Movie, functions differently now.
This used to work fine for me - but now it doesn't, strange.
I have two tracks that I recorded in Logic pro 9.
I went to "File/Open Movie" in Logic - brought in an MPG and lined it up where I wanted it so that it matches the audio.
When I go to "File / Export Audio To Movie", I used to get a screen that allowed me to de-select the audio in the movie, so that the movie audio wouldn't be in the final exported movie.
I DO NOT want the audio from the movie to be in the export.
I have muted the movie audio in Settings / Video / so that it does not play while I roll the tracks in Logic.
I used to be able to deselect the movie audio when "Exporting Audio To Movie" but now I don't get that screen when going through the export process.
Can anyone help?
Thanks, Giovanni5000.
www.giovanni5000.comYou have to do some basic trouble shooting routine to give a little more info:
1) Use a different movie and see if the export works
if yes then the problem could be your original movie
if no try a a third movie
2) Use a new project and try the basic routing: import movie, import new audio - bounce to Movie
if that works then maybe there is a problem with your project and not with Logic. Back to your project and digg deeper
3) etc ...

Spinning Beach Ball then frequent crash when editing movie
Help! I have tried everything; the project I am working on is about 14 min. long, still pics only, with transitions; I had extracted the audio from the clips (a trick I learned after trying to export movies previously) and now when trying to delete the audio extracts, I get looooooooong hang times, and frequent crashes. Also, frequent crashes when just updating transitions, etc. Any suggestions? I have to have this finished soon, it is an anniversary video for my niece's folks.

Media Encoder crashes when exporting from Premiere Pro
Media Encoder crashes when exporting from Premiere Pro. I am queueing multiple files for export and Media Encoder will crash. The computer system has 32GB of RAM and the videos export fine in Premiere, but that requires exporting each one individually. Each video file is being down converted and some can be quite long (upwards of 3-5 hours). Nothing else is running on the computer that would take up memory.
Any idea why Media Encoder will crash?Try turning off GPU acceleration.

During the rendering of complex FCPX mac crashes and I have to force a restart.
I also happens when I try to export movies with Motion 5.
Does anyone have the same problem with my new iMac?Problems such as yours are sometimes caused by files that should belong to you but are locked or have wrong permissions. This procedure will check for such files. It makes no changes and therefore will not, in itself, solve your problem.
First, empty the Trash.
Launch the Terminal application in any of the following ways:
☞ Enter the first few letters of its name into a Spotlight search. Select it in the results (it should be at the top.)
☞ In the Finder, select Go ▹ Utilities from the menu bar, or press the key combination shift-command-U. The application is in the folder that opens.
☞ Open LaunchPad. Click Utilities, then Terminal in the icon grid.
Triple-click anywhere in the line below to select it, then drag or copy it — do not type — into the Terminal window:
find . $TMPDIR.. \( -flags +sappnd,schg,uappnd,uchg -o ! -user $UID -o ! -perm -600 -o -acl \) 2> /dev/null | wc -l
Press return. The command may take a noticeable amount of time to run. Wait for a new line ending in a dollar sign (“$”) to appear.
The output of this command, on a line directly below what you entered, will be a number such as "35." Please post it in a reply. -
Hi folks,
In Logic X, I can't seem to export audio to movie properly. When I click the "Export To Movie" it seems to export a short section from wherever the cursor is, so I tried moving the cursor to the start and no difference.
So, I then used the cycle area to select and export the whole track, which it did - but without the video! When I play back it's just darkness!
I had no such problems in Logic 9 - am I going mad or has anyone got any solutions?
Thanks!
BenWell the temporary workaround I found right now is to use the sample delay plug-in on the output 1-2 channel. Actually needs 2 instances. The mas setting is around 10000 samples. I think in my situation, the video is around 8 frames late. So I set th combination of plugs to delay the audio by around 12800 samples. Upon exporting, the sync between audio and video is close enough.
This is just a workaround. I hope apple fix it for the sake of users using Logic for score to picture purposes. -
How do I export audio to movie without original music
When I export audio to movie and I open the new quicktime file there is music I didn't write as well as my own music. In the manual, after I choose the desired format options for the bounced audio file, and I enter a name and target folder for the movie a dialog is supposed to appear allowing me to choose which of the original audio tracks should be included in the new movie. That dialog box doesn't appear on my computer.
Try this.
Bounce out your music from logic.
Import Quicktime movie into the old i-movie (haven't tried the new one yet.) from here, you can extract the original audio.
Import your new music into i-movie, and lay it against the picture.
Export your new movie. -
Hi
I am trying to add music to some video footage taken with a digital camera. I was unable to extract the audio from the footage onto my arrange window using import audio from movie. I received a message saying "no active extrac
table audio to be found" (though there is audio in the footage). Then when I exported audio to movie I found that the movie was unchanged, the soundtrack I had created did not play and the original audio remained as well.
Any help would be appreciated.H,thanks for the advice, I'll try it out tonight. Yeah I bought quick time pro especially to work with film in logic. I am soon to start working on a project with a film student friend of mine. I was literally tearing my hair out for two days figuring I had done something wrong and it turns out that this problem seems to be part of an apple conspiracy to hush up this flaw. That and the fact apple seem barely contactable when there is an issue with one of their problems only adds to the frustration. I expected more I have to say.

An old "export audio to movie" bug returns in 9.02?
Hey
Maybe it's just me, but I could've sworn they'd fixed this one...
I remember for a while when you'd use the "export audio to movie" feature, the sound would sometimes be about half a second late. Then that was apparently fixed... But now it's back again in 9.02
My previous work around was to bounce the audio mix, then drag it back into the timeline as a stereo .aif file. I'd solo that track, make sure PDC is set to "ALL" then use 'Export Audio to Movie'.
And - before you ask - no, there were no latency inducing plugs on the master output bus. No limiters, gates, in fact no plugs at all on this particular project.
No matter what I did, the Quicktime bounce was always out of sync. When I just 'play' the project, the 2-pop from my audio and the video cue beep/flash frame line up perfectly. Everything plays back fine. But when I use "Export Audio to Movie", my Logic soundtrack is about half a second late throughout.
Anyone else notice this? Any suggested fixes?
I know some people are having a great time with L9, but I'm sorry to say I'm solidly in the "sorry I upgraded" camp.
I'm starting to appreciate L8 more every day...iSchwartz wrote:
You can work around this problem in QT without having to deal with Logic at all, provided your film has a timecode burn. Open the movie in QT. Trim it down if necessary. Assuming your 2-pop is what your cue starts off with (with no dead audio before it), open your 2-mix in QT, select ALL, CMD-C copy. Now your mix is in the clipboard. Back to the movie window, set the playhead of the movie so that you're seeing the desired start frame. Use CMDOPTV to place the music into the movie. Trim the movie as needed. Export.
If you want to save the movie, be sure to save it under a new name. Saving as a proxy (reference) will save disk space.
Good tip - thanks. Unfortunately, this film doesn't have a time code burn. And while I've used the method above in the past, I always find it a little finicky to make exact trims in QT because you don't have the fine frame-by-frame control sometimes... I think.
But the thing is, I exported audio to movies with perfect sync all summer long in L8. I did about 60 cues for one client this summer, all with quicktimes, and not a single problem.
Now, since "upgrading" to 9, I can't get the audio to export with the same sync it has on playback no matter what I do. Sure seems like a bug to me....
I'm going to try some more experiments today if I get time. I want to see if changing buffer sizes or PDC settings has any effect....

Export Audio to movie causes loud static
Hello,
If I import a movie (.mov) file into Logic pro 9, add some extra music tracks and then try to "export audio to movie" to my desktop, when I open the exported file in quicktime player I get horrible static. I am also running Logic in 32bit mode.
Just on accident I found that if I export the file to my SDCH card that i use for my Canon T3i camera and not to my Desktop the file opens fine, I hear the extra tracks I added and the actual audio of the original file.
Can anyone explain why I can't export the file to my desktop without the file opening with static?
Just for a bit more information, I can also export to a jump drive with no problem. Does the the way my hard drive is formatted have anything to do with this feature?
Computer specs:
MacBook Pro
2.4 Ghz Intel Core i7
4 GB 1333 Hz DDR3
Intel HD Graphics 3000 384 MB graphics
750 GB SATA Disk
Jump Drive: MS-DOS (fat32)
SDCH crad: MS-DOS (fats32)
Mac HD: Mac OS Extended (Journaled)
Thanks
DarianWhat is really odd is the Jump Drive and Secure Digital card are both formatted Fat32 MS-DOS, while your Mac drive is formatted (correctly) as Mac OS Extended.
Go back to your original formatting... what happens if you move the noisy file from your desktop to the jump drive and play it from there, is there still static, if so that eliminates a playback problem and places it on the record function. Best to narrow things down.
De-Select Floating point and set the sample size to 16, leave everything else the same.
