Frequent Reboot Required

I have been finding that I need to reboot my Blackberry Pearl 8130 once every two or three days. Usual problem is inability to connect to the web. Any suggestions? Is there an easier way to reboot other than removing the Battery?

it's the only thing that works for me.  I am now rebooting at least once a day to try and prevent slow performance and being "stuck".

  • Frequent reboots required on LinkSys WRV54G

I'm using a LinkSys WRV54G at home.  I am using WEP encryption, and my SSID is being broadcast.  I have the following devices that access it wirelessly:
    2 laptops (1 XP, 1 Mac)
    2 Nintendo DS
    1 Nintendo Wii
    1 netbook (Linux)
My problem is that every other day the router no longer accepts new connections.  For instance, i leave the netbook connected overnight, and then when my wife tries to connect her Mac, the connection fails.  No other devices can connect, although I have full access with the netbook.  If I power cycle the router, everything works again and multiple devices can connect again.  The above is just an example. I've had times when only the Wii has been connected and the Linux netbook cannot connect.  The netbook usually reports an error such as "No working leases in persistent database"
The DHCP Server on the router allows 20 connections.  I am not using MAC filtering.
It is quite the pain to have to run down to the basement to restart the router every time.  Any suggestions on what the problem might be?

Just found this thread which seems related.  The last post seems to be the solution, which is to turn OFF logging.

My MacBook Pro Core Duo from 2006 shuts down randomly requiring frequent reboots to the point I had to abandon doing any project or anything on this MacBook Pro. Same thing occurs with the iMac dual core from 2007. MacBook battery replaced. Is it internal battery for both, new logic board required, bad hard drive, or bad RAM?
    Help.

Run an Apple Hardware Test using the original installation disk that has the AHT instructions on it.
    Try SMC and PRAM resets:
    http://support.apple.com/kb/ht3964

It is possible that you may need a new PRAM battery.

  • Group policy - 'install pending - reboot required'

I have deployed software using GPO - Computer Configuration - Assigned software.  This has worked with flying colors for most computers on our domain - all running Windows 7 x86.  Only a select few computers have failed to get this software installed.
When I checked RSOP.msc, I get a message that the install is pending and awaiting reboot.  These machines have rebooted many times and yet the same message appears on RSOP and the software has yet to actually install.
Where is it getting hung up?  Is there some sort of install cache that I can clear on the PC so GPO will try to send the install from scratch?
We have tried several things to try to isolate variables:
Tried gpupdate /force - I am prompted to reboot, and when I do so the software does not install
Checked GP Result - shows that this software install policy was "applied" to the computer, yet it isn't installed
Checked RSOP.msc, I get a message that the install is pending and awaiting reboot - reboots do not resolve this
Added permissions for "everyone" at the distribution point NTFS and share (I doubt it's permissions anyway since installs were successful on most computers before we added more permissions)
Tried adding a Computer Configuration/Administrative Templates/System/Group Policy/Startup policy processing wait time - 20 seconds (I tried this after reading this forum question -
    http://social.technet.microsoft.com/Forums/en-US/winserverGP/thread/2a2175bf-132f-46c2-bc5a-4c67932141e2/)
Furthermore, every test I try to manufacture grabs the GPO and installs the software with success.  The only machines that fail are machines that aren't easy for me to access as people are using them during the workday.
I have grabbed the event viewer information for a failing PC "WOLF", these events show every time after logon as well:

    > TeamViewer 6 MSI PDX failed. The error was : %%1274
Not really an error - more an information. Results from a "gpupdate" and
    means "reboot now, please".
    > from policy TeamViewer 6 MSI PDX failed. The error was : %%2
File not found. That's odd... May need further investigation.
    > before the user logon. The error was : %%1274
    See above - reboot required.
You may activate appmgmt debug logging and then post the resulting log
    file: In HKLM\Software\Microsoft\Windows NT\CurrentVersion\Diagnostics,
set AppmgmtDebugLevel (REG_DWORD) to 0x9b and examine
    %windir%\debug\usermode\appmgmt.log after the next reboot.
If no other solution, you may try to cleanup the appmgmt history key so
that all SW deployment GPOs will be processed again: Rename
    HKLM\Software\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Group Policy\AppMgmt and
    recreate empty.

  • Random and frequent reboots

Hi, I pre-ordered a N900 two months ago. I finally got it yesterday, and since then I've been experiencing random and frequent reboots of the device. I don't have to do anything fancy, it simply reboots from time to time without warning. It's a real pain.
This is being discuss in the maemo website [1] and there's two bugs [2] & [3] open on this issue. I'd like to know if I should return the device as many are doing or if I should wait for a prompt firmware upgrade. I don't want to wait another two months for a replacement (I think the supplies are a bit short due to high demand) but I don't want to stick to a possible erratic hardware.
Please Nokia, give me some advice. Thanks.

    [3] https://bugs.maemo.org/show_bug.cgi?id=6350

I have N900 for almost a month, and rebooted me once. I started installing an application, canceled, when i tried to install it again rebooted. After reboot i tried to install same application, worked fine.
I'm using firmware version 1.2009.42-11 atm, works better with multitasking then previous version. Even with previous firmware, NEVER froze and rebooted once (i think thats pretty awsome for a brand new OS). It has amazing stability, and trust me, i use it A LOT, and 80% of the time i have it online.

  • Reboot Required informational message is getting old...

I lost my hard drive and had to reinstall Acrobat v7.1.0 Professional. Tech Support was very helpful in getting me what I needed to reload the software.
However, two very irritating things are happening:
    1) When accessing a pdf file, I periodically get a message that says Reboot Required: "You must restart system before you can do another update." and,
    2) Always upon rebooting, I am taken to the C:\Program
Files\Adobe\Acrobat.com directory, and then nothing. I see no need to go to
    this directory.
Tech Support says they no longer support v7.1, just v8 and v9.
Functionally, it seems to work, but after rebooting a half-dozen times, the error keeps stalking me.
    Thanks in advance.

First (my only) idea is to verify that you have all Adobe automatic updates OFF
There have been some reports of this "feature" causing problems

  • Is a Reboot Required after the new "Fix".

The recent HH5 "fix" has downloaded again today, 9-00 am after previously being downloaded 25/02/2015, at 01-00 am.
This suggests that the System does'nt know if the fix has been implemented.
    Just a naive question:-
Is a reboot required, as would be usual for some Windows Updates, where the user is told "Restart now"?

Slightly better news today. A TR069 event was logged this morning even while browsing through google. There was no interrupt.
There was one DSL drop last night, apparently due to a failure to connect to remote admin.

  • Frequent reboot in BlackBerry Curve 9320

I've purchased a BB Curve 9320 a month ago and have been using it regularly for texting, calls and browsing primarily. Of late I have been experiencing frequent reboots of the phone all of a sudden several times a day.I had installed a few apps but thinking that this reboot issue may be due to the apps, I've deleted all the applications. Please help me out, this is my first BlackBerry phone and I hope that I've not made the wrong choice.

Frequent rebooting problem with Blackberry: Hello my fellow sufferers, here I am going to give you guys a solution for this problem which might work. I have been annoyed by frequent rebooting problem with my Blackberry since last 3 months. Earlier I went to service center and they kept my phone for 2 days, gave it back to me after software updation. But the problem of frequent rebooting didn't solve. I again went to local service center and this time they’d sent my phone to blackberry service center Bangalore. It came after 20 days. It seems that my earlier phone had been replaced by new phone (since my older phone was having lots of scratches all over its body and screen too). Now I was happier to have new phone. But as soon as I started using it (after restoring the backup from desktop software) the rebooting problem started again. So now I went for my own diagnosis to find out the remedial of this problem (by d way I am an engineer  ). I tried each and every combination to find out the root cause. -----------I used my phone in following individual states to know in which condition the problem occurs. 1. Keeping memory card out 2. deleting all third party application 3. keeping my phone in charging condition 4. Switching off the data service, etc. 5. Log out of all social networking apps. What I observed that rebooting problem didn’t occur during phone in charging condition, Facebook log out condition and data service off condition. I have also referred all the forums here regarding this problem. Some of them had suggested few things like keeping paper beneath battery, and data service in 2G mode, etc. I have tried several combinations and finally my rebooting problem seems to be solved. However it is not completely wiped out but frequency is certainly reduced from 50 times a day to 1 or 2 times per 3 days. So here is the combination I’ve tried. 1. Delete the Facebook application preinstalled in your phone 2. Delete all event logs. Press Alt + LGLG. Clear the log, uncheck all values in option and save it 3. Keep a paper beneath battery to hold it strongly. 4. Reinstall the Facebook from blackberry world. Please try out these things and let me know whether your problem is solved or not. But certainly it is the failure of Blackberry that even after huge complains they are to come out with the solution of frequent rebooting. I would never recommend any one to buy blackberry. Useless phone, and useless service.

  • Is server or service reboot required after editing registry in 13568 event

Is server or service reboot required after editing registry in 13568 event .

Hi Below is the event log guiding me to edit registry in order to resolve replication issue, In this case i cant restart the server or even service.I just want to know will this registry edit take effect with out reboot server or service.
    Event Type: Error
    Event Source: NtFrs
    Event Category: None
    Event ID: 13568
    Description:
The File Replication Service has detected that the replica set "DOMAIN SYSTEM VOLUME (SYSVOL SHARE)" is in JRNL_WRAP_ERROR.
Replica set name is    : "DOMAIN SYSTEM VOLUME (SYSVOL SHARE)"
Replica root path is   : "c:\windows\sysvol\domain"
Replica root volume is : "\\.\C:"
A Replica set hits JRNL_WRAP_ERROR when the record that it is trying to read from the NTFS USN journal is not found.  This can occur because of one of the following reasons.
[1] Volume "\\.\C:" has been formatted.
[2] The NTFS USN journal on volume "\\.\C:" has been deleted.
[3] The NTFS USN journal on volume "\\.\C:" has been truncated. Chkdsk can truncate the journal if it finds corrupt entries at the end of the journal.
[4] File Replication Service was not running on this computer for a long time.
[5] File Replication Service could not keep up with the rate of Disk IO activity on "\\.\C:".
Setting the "Enable Journal Wrap Automatic Restore" registry parameter to 1 will cause the following recovery steps to be taken to automatically recover from this error state.
[1] At the first poll, which will occur in 5 minutes, this computer will be deleted from the replica set. If you do not want to wait 5 minutes, then run "net stop ntfrs" followed by "net start ntfrs" to restart the File Replication Service.
[2] At the poll following the deletion this computer will be re-added to the replica set. The re-addition will trigger a full tree sync for the replica set.
WARNING: During the recovery process data in the replica tree may be unavailable. You should reset the registry parameter described above to 0 to prevent automatic recovery from making the data unexpectedly unavailable if this error condition occurs again.
To change this registry parameter, run regedit.
Click on Start, Run and type regedit.
    Expand HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE.
    Click down the key path:
       "System\CurrentControlSet\Services\NtFrs\Parameters"
Double click on the value name
       "Enable Journal Wrap Automatic Restore"
    and update the value.
If the value name is not present you may add it with the New->DWORD Value function under the Edit Menu item. Type the value name exactly as shown above.

  • Reboot required but RTE wasn't changed

Can anyone tell me what the "reboot required" logic (or illogic ) is when using a distribution kit?
I have a distribution kit that demands a system reboot (and demands a project recompile when creating it), even if nothing has changed ?!
Is this a setting I have inadvertently set?
    \Thanks
    Menchar

I've been experiencing the same behaviour: while developing an application I install it on the same PC several times day after day, and I noticed that sometimes the reboot is required, and sometimes it isn't.
    Sometimes I modify two or three lines of code, and the installer says both the application and NI components will be updated, then the reboot is required;
in other situations I modify a whole part of my application and the installer says only the application will be updated, then reboot is not required.
I've been trying to understand this behaviour for a long time, but I heven't been able to find an explanation

Battery is exhausting early ie. every day / frequently is required to put charging.

Some apps continue to operate in the background even if you have pressed the home button to exit.
One of the biggest drains on battery is the GPS.
Firstly, how long has this been happening? Since you got it or just recently?
As a first stage, double press your home button, hold your finger on one of the icons in the bottom and when they start to shake, tap the small red icon in the top left hand corner. Do that for all of the icons until they are all closed.
Another thing to check is Settings > Privacy > Location Services. If this is set to ON, go in and check which apps are using location services. If there are any apps there that you want to restrict from using GPS, make sure they are set to off.
Try those as a first stage and see how you go.

  • Frequent Rebuild Requires After Upgrade from 9i to 10g

    Hi Friends,
Recently we have upgraded our production database from 9i to 10g and after that the performance of certain queries degraded drastically. when we did a workaround of rebuilding the table and associated indexes for these queries, it performs as fast as 9i.
Can anybody clarify why the same query which was working very fine without rebuild in 9i requires a rebuild in 10g?
Please note that the tables involved in this query are very huge and a frequent rebuild is not a permanent solution for us :-)
    Regards,
    Savad

  • Applying a new patch on the ISE 1.4.1. reboot required?

when applying a new patch on the ISE 1.4.1, will the server be taken off line whilst the patch is applied. i.e.does the server require a reboot after the patch is applied?

This is what is presently installed:
    Cisco Identity Services Engine
    Version : 1.1.4.218
    Cisco Identity Services Engine Patch
    Version : 2
    Cisco Identity Services Engine Patch
    Version : 8
So is it correct to say that if I have installed patch 8 , then I do not need to install 3-7?

  • Reboot Required when attaching external hard drive

I recently purchased a seagate 1.5TB external harddrive. It as been working fine with just one partition. The need arose for two partitions and I started the process using disk utility. My macbook froze during the process and now every time I connect this external hard drive, the gray window appears requiring a hard reboot. I can not reformat the external hard drive since it freezes every time I connect it. Help!

All usb hard disk with usb 3 are backward compatible to usb2.. but of course they still go at usb2 speed.
Very few routers have usb3 even with usb3 for a few years now.. the router chips are often underpowered so they simply cannot support the transfer speed.. usb 2 even goes at half the speed of usual usb2.. which is mainly a function of the underpowered processor on the router.
