Frequent Refusal to Charge?

I purchased my MBP about 6 months ago. Frequently (at least once or twice a week) it refuses to recognize its charger. After a few hours, it will suddenly start recognizing the charger again and begin to charge.
I don't think it's a charger issue because I have two chargers and this happens with each of them (I even try both of them when the issue starts up). I also updated my software last week but the refusal to charge happened again.
Is this a battery issue? What would be the best way for me to explain the issue if I were to go the Genius Bar?
Thank you!

  • My Lumia 920 frequently refuse to power on

I have had d phone for up to 12 months. Although a good phone, I experience frequent refusal to power on. This requires taking it to Nokia care almost on monthly basis. I use only Nokia chargers, & don't allow the battery to drain b4 charging. What can I do.

Looks like a hardware issue, unfortunately. It is surprising that Nokia Care wasn't able to help, but i would be looking at a faulty battery, or battery connector.

  • Battery refuses to charge

    Hey guys,
I have an Iphone 4S, with IOS 7 operating system.  Replaced screen and phone would not charge.  Took it to Phone Repair store, they replaced the battery, seemed to be the only problem at the time.  Battery refused to charge, took back to shop, they replaced battery AGAIN.  However.......The battery WILL NOT charge when plugged into charger!  I have tried a different charger, a new outlet, had the phone checked by the phone repair shop (after 2.5 hours, could not deteremine the issue).  Have tried to restore it back to factory settings, have tried a new charging port, have exhausted my brain!!!  Anyone else ever have this problem, and was the phone just a "goner" or was there something within it that could be fixed?  Upgrade is in 2 months, so I don't really want to spend money on a new one.

Yep, the internal clock battery sounds like it has died. This battery has to be replaced by a service technician. It is inside the case.

  • Hey, last night after my phone died it refused to charge or even signal the  battery picture which is usually what pops up when it has run out of battery life, whats wrong?

I've used various charger with my phone due to the fact that my original one broke and it's hard to get a hold of a real apple cable, So last night it ran out of battery and refused to charge anymore ( this was the third time it ran out of battery). It didn't react to any of the botton, it didnt even signal me with the whole " i need you to charge me " picture. later that night  i decided to check on it and it signaled the picture so i plugged it in with the cars charger and it worked, my phone charged perfectly fine it turned on and worked okay. and this moring the whole senerio stared up again except now it won't charge at all i found an original Apple charger, i plugged into the computer, car, and house outlet and no response from the phone at all. I also I don't have the cable which charged my phone last night in the car it belonged to a friend and my phone still has no response to any bottons....

If you have one try using a different charger lead, adapter or plug socket. If that fails it may be that the charger port is broken. I had the same problem with my ipad but it was within warranty and I got it replaced at an apple store

  • My iPad mini charger works but my iPad mini refuses to charge. What do I do?

My iPad mini charger works but my iPad mini refuses to charge. What do I do?

    Try a different cable
Try to clean out the 30-pin/Lightning port on the device using a clean toothbrush (or similar) & blow it out. There may be dust/lint preventing proper electrical connection. The older 30-pin port is much more prone to dust & lint getting inside and it's internal conductors are very small. Clean the port out thoroughly and also the 30-pin connector on the cable.
Don't charge using the USB ports on the PC. Most PC's USB ports do not supply enough current to properly charge your device. A USB port (or the iPhone's charger) supplies 5 watts of charging current. The iPad Air's charger supplies 12 watts of charging current. Trying to charge your iPad with your PC's USB ports or the iPhone's 5 watt charger is like trying to fill a water bucket (iPad's battery) with a little toy squirt gun (PC's USB ports or iPhone 5 watt charger).
Instead, use the charger that came with the device and the cable that came with the device.

    Hi,
can you please specify the Model Number?
         - Please also clarify if you have HP Support Assistant installed.
I'm thinking in BIOS Update and Battery Test to check integrity, but need to know Model Number to provide good answer.
    Waiting for feedback,

  • Why does my iPhone 4s refuse to charge or turn on

On two separate occasions since I have owned it I have let my iPhone run flat. On both occasions it has refused to start up or acknowledge the charge. Obviously it did in the end. I even took it back to the shop the first time where of course (sod's law) it immediately behaved itself and made me feel stupid. Am I expecting it to fire up too quickly after a complete discharge. How long before the Apple shows and it switches on? Is there a known fault? This last time a soft reset seemed to work.

I'm afraid you'll have to get the phone serviced, dropping the phone must have damaged additional parts inside the phone.
But Apple will not service the phone anymore, opening the phone and replacing the battery should only be done by authorized personal, not by users.
You'll have to look for a 3rd party repair shop and see if they can fix this, sorry.

  • My shuffle turns off frequently when fully charged - have reset it but it's still a problem

MY shuffle turns off frequently for no apparent reason. It's fully charged. I've reset it several times but it keeps happening.

    hi there,
Ive got the same problem at the moment. Only just started. I only use it for the gym so it only gets used when its too wet or dark to run on the road safley!
Anyway, Im trying to get to the bottom of the issue on another few forums. If i get anywhere i will post in here.

  • My iPhone has a broken screen and it refuses to charge, but I already had it taken to apple before. Do I have to pay for replacement?

After my first iPhone had broken due to the home button refused to work and a smashed up screen, I took it to apple for a replacement.
After I got my new phone it worked perfectly fine until a few months later my screen broke again, so I took it to a phone shop for repairing and they had done it dodgy.
The screen wasn't in properly and it had difficulties charging, and again the screen had broken and the charging got worse, I want to take it back to apple but will I have to pay to replace again because I've already taken it to apple?

You can forget about taking it back to Apple. Once a third-party touched it, you voided all warranty & support, as well as the right to an out of warranty replacement. They'll just hand it back to you.
Don't bother going to Apple, you'll just be wasting your time.

  • My iPhone 4S battery refuses to charge past 1 percent. Why is that, and how do I stop it?

While I was out I check my iPhone at 90% battery. I checked it 5 minutes later and it was reduced to one percent. I had the Wifi off, and the Bluetooth off, and plugged it into a wall charger. Now it won't go past one percent. Help!

  • My iphone shuts off by itself, and refuses to charge to any source.

I bought an ulnocked iPhone 4 a week ago in Hawaii. I'm from Argentina, so I got back and asked for a microsim card in my local carrier (Claro), which took about 4 days (they're annoying). When I finally activated my iPhone, I tried to charge it in an iMac, and all I got was the plug icon. iTunes DID recognize the device, but it was not charging. I plugged it to a wall source. The same thing happened. Then, I made a Restore via iTunes. No luck. I tried upgrading the IOS to 5.1. No luck again. The battery percentage stayed always the same. Afterwards, it started to shut off by itself. Connected to a source or not. Everytime the phone was ON again, the battery percentage became updated, which suggested me that there was occurring some charging...
The next day, I took my iPhone to a Reseller here (called iPoint -there are no Apple Stores in Argentina-) and told my problem, but, when I connected the phone there, the bolt icon finally appeared. I thought the problem was solved, but when I came back home, i realised that even the icon was there, the battery percentage didn't change either. Then it commenced to turn itself off again and again. This happens more quickly if I have the iPhone connected to a power source, but it happens anyway if it's not...
I'm feeling like I can't rely on Apple anymore as a safe choice. It use to be a warranty of perfection...
I'm a bit desperate, hope someone can help me...
    Thanks!

  • Hi. So my iphone (I'm pretty sure it's the 4 or something) isn't charging. Nothing is wrong with the cables, it's just the phone itself refuses to charge or something. What should I do?

Hi. my phone won't charge with any iphone cables and I would kinda like to know why.

Okay, but if I plug it into a new cable then it will charge, and then when I take it off and try to charge it again with the same cable then it won't charge again. .__.

  • Help - why does my iPod erase itself and refuse to charge?

I have a click wheel iPod. I just sent in for a new battery in January, and the replacement is now experiencing the same problems I had with my old iPod. It worked fine for the first month or so, but then it wouldn't charge. I could hear it power up, but then die. The screen looped between the exclamation point and a low battery picture, even when it was plugged into the computer or the wall.
Today I tried one last time before I called support, and it finally started charging. It had completely erased itself, though. These symptoms are similar to what happened on my first iPod. Anyone know what is going on with my iPod? Thanks!
    iPod   Mac OS X (10.4.6)

Try resetting the iPod.  Nothing will be lost.
Reset iPod touch:  Press and hold the On/Off Sleep/Wake button and the Home
button at the same time for at least ten seconds, until the Apple logo appears.
You can also try another cable and usb port.
