Fresh Lion install, but App Store says some programs installed

I've just done a complete wipe and reinstall of Lion on my Mac Mini (don't ask!), When I first loaded up App Store it said that two of my Apps were already installed! How can that be?! And can I do anything about it?
I've tried loggin out and back in. And I've done a deep level search for anything relating to the two programmes, but nothing shows up (I did a root level search).
The 2 Apps are EagleFiler and Skitch
thanks.

David ..
Since the App Store is relatively new there's likley to be bugs.
Providing feedback to Apple helps > Apple - Mac OS X - Feedback
This tip helped another user but doesn't work for everyone.
Drag the App Store icon straight up off the Dock so it goes, "poof" ..
Now go to the Applications folder and drag the App Store icon to the Dock.
Restart your Mac, launch the App Store to see if that made a difference. It certainly can't hurt anything.

  • Trying to update iPhoto to 9.5.1 but app store says its installed and the iPhoto on my computer is 9.4 ?

my computer is running iphoto 9.4 something but the app store says 9.5.1 is insstalled an won't let me try to update it??

while it is possible to keep two different copies of iPhto around it is a really bad idea
the iPhoto application MUST be in the applications folder on your main boot drive - if it is anywhere else it will not update - if you have multiple copies of the iPhoto Application you must delete all except the one in your applicaitions folder on your boot drive
You need to get rid of all iPhoto applications except the one in your Applicatiosn folder on the boot drive (third time for this suggestion) and update it to the latest then update all iPhoto libraries to work with it

  • Need to reinstall system software but App Store says "downloaded."

I have been waiting for an answer from Apple support, in vain. Does anyone here know how to reinstall the system software if you don't have the disks, and the App Store says "downloaded?"
Or do I have to wait until Apple somehow wakes up and resets my purchase?
I wish they had sent me disks.. Sigh.

There are no longer any system disks, everything is downloadable now. The installer deletes itself after a successful install, so you need to save a copy before using it.
If you need to reinstall OS X you now use OS X Recovery.

If you need to upgrade another Mac you own, then log into the Mac App Store on that Mac and download the installer to that Mac from the Purchases pane.

  • App Not In Applications folder, but App Store says it's installed.

Anybody have any ideas on this?
One of my apps is missing from my Applications folder, so I went into the app store to try to re-download it, however the application store says the App in question is installed...
There is a 'free' version of the same app in the app store, so I decided to try downloading it, which works, but again the full version of the App is still missing...

    Neither of these ideas apply...
Prior to exausting everything I could think of, the free version was not installed, and in fact had never been 'purchased' (it did not show up in my purchases list, and the button on it read 'free' instead of 'install')...
The first thing I did was a spotlight search for JPEGmini, with no results comming up.
I then went into the App Store which is when I found that it was reported as installed.
I proceeded to use the Terminal app to try and determine if a hidden flag had been set on the app in the Applciatons folder (rendering it present but invisible), but was able to confirm there was no applicable hidden item...
It was then that I 'bought' and downloade the free version, just to see if it would work.  It worked as expected, and even upon deleting the app the 'INSTALLED' indicator in the App Store went back to an 'INSTALL' button...
I've since removed the free version but am still unable to install the full version...

  • IPhoto 8.1.2 - want to replace with iPhoto '11 but App Store says Installed

I have a MacPro at home and a MBP which I also use - I have the 'old' iLife 09 which provided iPhoto in ver. 8 form [updaed to 8.1.2 in 2010] - I went to the App Store to get iLife '11 to update fully and it says it's Installed.
But I checked on my MacPro and it's not installed there. Nor is it on my MBP -- how can I get it from the App Store and install it on my MacPro = it won't let me. Thank.s

Try rename iPhoto.app in the Applications folder. Change it to something like iPhotoold or somesuch. Then try again.
As always, before updating anything, *back up first*

  • Trying to use system instrument but its telling I have to download, I click ok but APP store says no updates, how can I get these instruments and/or effects?

So I'm new to Garage band and I know I can use my computer keyboard as a midi interface for some instruments, i.e. drums. However I notice that when I click on some instruments like horns or guitar a pop up opens that says I need to download them at about 1.2 GB of free storage. I click on ok to start the download and the app store pops up but after loading it tells me there are no updates available. Could it be possibly bc I am using the GB that came on the computer and not the paid app or is it just me not doing somehting right? Not sure what else to do and I want these instruments to fool around with and create awesome music...any help would be appreciated.
    Mahalo!

You should be able to download and use the additional loops without a problem, but it works not always smoothly. And there have been different fixes that worked for different people. See this long thread if something will work in your case:
    GarageBand '11 won't download additional loops: https://discussions.apple.com/message/15137750#15137750
Sometimes you simply need to reload the "Updates" tab of the AppStore using ⌘R after signing in with your AppleID and starting the download.

  • New versions of apps are available, but app store says no updates

Hi all, I wonder if anyone can help. I'm running a late 2008 aluminum Macbook. It's running 10.9.1 Mavericks with 4 GB of RAM and runs just fine. My problems are with app updates.
Specifically, when I launch Keynote, Pages, Numbers, etc., they all say that a new version is available and it gives me the option to update. However, when I click to update, the app store opens and shows no updates available. Sure enough, when I navigate to specific apps, the versions shown are indeed newer versions than what I'm currently running, yet there is no option to install them, as the button just shows as "installed."
Any idea why the updates are not showing up? Also, why are newer versions on the store not giving me the option to download them, and just showing as already installed?
I've tried restarting to possibly clear out RAM, refreshing the app store page to the current version, etc., but nothing seems to solve it.
Thanks in advance for any help!
    -Loren

    PS:
Did you get the most recent Pages version from here? $19.99

    iPhoto? $14.99

    And etc...
    see Apps/Pro Apps in header
    http://www.apple.com/mac/
(of course within the iTunes Store the apps may link different)
Maybe reset SMC, NVRAM, or shake a dash of salt on its tail.
None of my antiques can go to the iTunes 'apps store' now.
    Good luck & happy computing!

  • I just bought 2 $15 iTunes cards to buy Lion and the App Store says I have insufficient funds.

In the app store it says Lion costs 29.99. is there some taxes that I'm not aware of? I have never had a problem redeeming cards for iTunes or the App Store before.

If there isn't sufficient credit from your iTunes card then the balance is charged to your credit or debit card. If you don't have a credit card setup in your iTunes billing payment information then the purchase will not go through. Yes, taxes do apply depending on your residence.
Click Account under Quick Links right side of the Mac App Store window.
Click Edit to the right of Payment Information. If you update your billing info make sure and click Done when you are finished.

  • Email was verified but App Store says not verified yet

I verified my apple id on my email but when I download on App Store it says that I did'nt verified it yet...I have been create 5 apple IDs but still the same...what should I do??Pls help

    Hello HatRabbit,
It sounds like you have already used the email link to verify your Apple ID but the App Store on your iPad says that it is not verified. If you have already logged into http://appleid.apple.com and confirmed that it shows your Apple ID as verified, then I would sign out of Settings > iTunes and App Stores in your settings. Then close all the running apps on the iPad.
iOS: Force an app to close
    http://support.apple.com/kb/ht5137
    Double-click the Home button.
Swipe left or right until you have located the app you wish to close.
Swipe the app up to close it.
When you have done that restart the phone and sign back in and try again:
iOS: Turning off and on (restarting) and resetting

  • Attempted to redeem free upgrade to Mountain Lion today but App store said the code had already been used... though it hadn't

I was in the process of redeeming my free upgrade to Mountain Lion today, and received a message in the "redeem" section of the App store that the redemption code had already been used. It hadn't been, unless there's a glitch in Apple's system that assigns codes. I accidentally clicked the submit button twice within a few seconds (believing I hadn't clicked it the first time, as nothing on the page indicated that I had submitted the form), as I was attempting to "redeem" my free upgrade.
Any ideas of what to do would be great. I'm brand new to the Mac world, and am interested in running the most up-to-date OS, especially since I've just procured the very top of the line new Macbook Pro w/Retina display, etc.
    Thanks,

  • IPhoto will not open. Error message says I must upgrade. But APP store says it is already installed?

iPhoto will not open. Error message says I must upgrade but the AppStore indicates that the newest version of iPhoto is installed so how can I upgrade and why did it stop working in the first place? What is the problem?

Hi Terence. I solved my problem. Apparently a 9.5.1 version of iPhoto was dowloaded, backed up on Ext Drive then deleted from the Mac HD...Leaving the old version 9.4.3 still resident on the Mac HD.
    Thanks for responding.

Now from the menu bar again click Store / View My Account. Click: Sign Out
Now launch the Mac App Store and try purchasing iPhoto 11 again.
