Fresh Win7, freeze while rebooting after video driver installation

Yesterday when I opened my laptop it froze while booting when the Win7 logo appears. Rebooted in safemode, all was good, didn't know what to look for exactly.
Today, I decided it was time for a new Win7 reinstall so I did it. Also, did a complete format of my SSD where I keep only my OS.
While it was rebooting after installing the AMD video driver it froze again, in the same spot. Restarted the laptop, chose last known good config and noticed in device manager that one of the video cards had error 43 (Windows has stopped this device because it has reported problems. (Code 43))
I tried to install the driver for Intel then, but I got an error saying my laptop does not have the minimum requierments (even for older versions of the driver)
I tried every possible combination of installing, uninstalling, enabling, disabling one of the cards.
When I install the AMD driver, the Intel driver installs itself too.
When I leave AMD graphics  enabled, it freezez at Win7 logo while booting,
When I disable AMD and leave just Intel enabled, then it boots normally, but right after the reboot, device manager shows them both with yellow triangle and "!" with error "This device cannot work properly until you restart your computer. (Code 14)", and of course, if I reboot then it freezes again.
I have already spent 10h on this and couldn't find a way to fix it.

Hi
Using Advanced boot options  ( F8 at start up )  go into Safe Mode with Command prompt , Once Safe mode loads with command prompt type      rstrui.exe           hit Enter   ....        This will take you into  System Restore ...  Follow the onscreen instructions to Restore your system to the time  before the AMD driver was installed .    You can choose from multiple restore points  if they have been created by you or your system .
                                                  Post me your Findings

    Hi salmaatty
Have you recently installed any application before this Problem started ? Think carefully any new application , theme , wallpaper or any recent app update !
If you have then try to boot your device on Safe Mode , On Safe Mode delete any application which you think might be responsible for this issue , from Options > Device > Application Manegement > locate and delete any newly installed 3rd party application , it might help in resolving your issue :
KB17877 : How to start a BlackBerry smartphone in Safe Mode
KB10040 : How to view or remove installed application on a blackberry smartphone
However .. If above fails or you're unable to boot your device on Safe mode then to recover your device you have to reload your OS , Try this method to load the OS again :
KB10144  : How to force the detection of the BlackBerry smartphone using Application Loader
Try it and let us know.

  • Freezes while zeroing the hard drive

    Hello,
I recently purchased a high-res 1.67GHz Aluminum Powerbook to replace my aging PowerBook. The first thing I wanted to do was to erase the hard drive entirely and install a fresh copy of Tiger, so I started up from the system disc (Install Disc 1 that was originally included with the laptop), and, as I am wont to do, launched Disk Utility from the startup disc so that I could zero out any data already on the disc.
Unfortunately, the computer froze entirely after only zeroing out approximately a third of the hard drive. After leaving it for some time and seeing no change, I force-shutdown the laptop by holding the power button. Subsequent attempts to zero out the data on the hard drive resulted in the same problem over and over again. After perhaps seven or eight tries, each with the erasure freezing prematurely somewhere between 1/3 and 2/3 of the way through, I finally succeeded in zeroing the drive and then installing the system.
That was not the end of the troubles though, since I have been receiving other problems as well after I finished installation. I've posted regarding those problems elsewhere since they're not directly related to the installation process, and you can find those problems here:
    http://discussions.apple.com/thread.jspa?threadID=1327523
I later ran the included Apple Hardware Test on the computer, and it checked out as okay on the Extended Test. Since I wasn't satisfied with those results and I didn't know what else I could check, I also booted into Single-User mode and ran memtest (tested all RAM, three loops), but it all checked out fine as well.
My initial guess would be some sort of a hard drive issue, but I don't know how to test for that aside from the Apple Hardware Test which I already ran (and which it passed). The hard drive also checks out as being Verified for S.M.A.R.T. status. I had also thought RAM, but memtest is the most thorough way to test it that I know, and it conclusively came out as being okay. My other thought was the logic board, but the Apple Hardware Test gave it the okay, and I have no idea how to test it more thoroughly.
So, is there any other clue as to what the problem might be?

Since I cannot edit my post, allow me to update you here. I didn't stay with the computer during the zeroing process, but I checked up on it several hours later to find no error messages reported or other anomalies, so I presume that the zeroing process completed normally. By all indications, that seems to be the case, since the drive appeared to be wiped as I would expect.
Unfortunately, the Install Disc included with the Aluminum is not one that I can boot from using my Titanium (it told me as much, and prompted me to restart from a different startup disk when I booted from it on my Titanium). So, I've gone ahead and exited Target Disk Mode for now and am installing the OS once again by starting the Aluminum up from the Install Disc.
I've also updated the other thread I linked to in my first post with some information that might be pertinent regarding the steps I've gone through in trying to isolate the cause of the kernel panics. It's a somewhat lengthy post, so I'll avoid copy-pasting it here and instead just provide a link to the post:

  • Fresh install of Windows 7 after hard drive failure: recovery key used on original drive no longer works?

I just had my hard drive replaced recently after it starting giving boot warnings about impending failure. The IT department at my uni replaced the drive, loaded their standard Win7 install, and restored all of my documents and files. Booting Mozilla for the first time on that install, I had all of my bookmarks, setting, passwords, etc. already there (FF even gave me the dialog to restore the last session before the drive replacement.)
But, since their install is awful (tons of bloatware, obnoxious account management and admin privileges, etc.), I decided to go about putting my own copy of 7 on just as I want it. Having learned my lesson with my Sync account last time I did this, I checked to make sure that I still had the recovery key from the original drive/installation (not the IT install.) Now, when I try to use my recovery key, Sync says it's the wrong one, and that "your Recovery Key has been changed with another device." I haven't touched the Key since I first generated it, so what exactly happened? Did Sync auto-generate another key from the IT installation without telling me, and now all my Sync data is completely lost?

Do you still have the signons.sqlite and key3.db files from the IT setup?
You can find the sync account password and the sync (recovery) key in the password manager on computers where a sync account with a specific e-mail address has been set up.

  • X220 crashes after video driver

I have installed a 64GB Transcend mSATA and installed Windows 7 64bit from a DVD (using the DVD drive on the base pad). Windows installs fine, the problem seems to occur when I try to update the video driver. The file that seems to be causing me the trouble is the 'Intel HD Graphics Driver (Integrated) for Windows 7 (64-bit)'. However I try to install, it goes smoothly, then asks to restart. After that, I get to the Windows loading icon, but then it goes to bluescreen. Other drivers seem to install OK. Any help would be most gratefully recieved.
    Solved!
    Go to Solution.

    Hello,
Check with Transcend to see if the latest firmware is installed in your SSD, then try installing all of the available updates for the system from Lenovo except the video driver and then from Microsoft via Windows Update, which may offer a different driver.  Does that make any difference?

  • Spotify only displays black screen after video driver crashes

Using Windows 8.1 64x, AMD 7800 series card with the latest AMD 15.4 beta drivers. This driver release is prone to crashing. Spotify, though, doesn't recover after the driver crashes and only displays a black screen. Restarting the program fixes the problem, but it shouldn't have to be restarted in the first place.

I am so sorry to hear this, was it after an ad, i should be able to help, could you also tell me which country you are based in!

  • Mac Pro will not reboot after Bootcamp attempted installation

I have an older quad-core 2009 Mac Pro. I tried to install Bootcamp before realizing that it's not supported. Now the Mac Pro will not reboot.
It starts up fine. It shuts down fine. But it just will not reboot. When I try to reboot, it just clicks like it's trying to boot to a DVD or a drive that's not there (I have since formatted the drive I was using for Bootcamp and use it for Time Machine now).
This is what I have tried:
    - PRAM reset
    - SMC reset
What could be keeping my Mac Pro from rebooting properly?? Please help. Thank you!!

So you tried with Mac and Windows on same drive?
    And you have Recovery partition.
You made a clone with CCC as well and cloned the Recovery
Paragon makes a couple programs to make life easier.
And, Well, Boot Camp works. There are unwritten rules. There is a forum devoted to it.
2009 is not old. Old is pre-2008 due to UEFI / EFI64 and how Windows 64-bit now looks during install.
It did install but the drivers and updates and such might be an issue.
Apple does not support HFS arrays, not just that Windows won't install but to mount, their Apple HFS driver.
You left out so much and maybe your IT didn't include Windows on Mac.
    www.apple.com/support/bootcamp
In general pull all your drives during install except that one Windows will be installed on.
Do get video driver from ATI etc yourself
Tell us what version, I assume Windows 8 which works fine other than a few issues - more with MacBook series and iMac or Mac Mini lines.

  • Freezing Windows after Apple driver installation

    Hi,
I'm having some strange issues after I install Boot Camp. The Windows install goes fine, but after I install the Apple drivers that came on the 10.5 install disk and restart, Windows freezes a few seconds after getting to the desktop and remains unresponsive. I have to then do a hard reboot. The disk checks out ok in chkdsk, but I'm not sure where to go from here to get a functional Windows partition. Any ideas on what I can check or try to get this to work?
    Thanks!

The divers Apple provides, for whatever reason, are the problem. It's not any particular device driver, because when I load each driver individually by cancel install, explore the DVD to Dirvers, and double click on the ones I need making sure to click the ones with 'XPinstall' in them. I don't know what the other set does, so I'm leaving it alone. Now it works like a charm. The problem is when it goes an installs the bit that puts the Control Panel on. Removing that (yea parallels!) makes the system operational again. BTW, It looks like the 2.1 update changes the Visual C++ redistributable.
So now Windows works fine, but I don't have my nifty key bindings or the Boot Camp Control Pannel. Any ideas?

  • Firefox freezes while playing flash videos.

When i play flash videos Firefox freezes. frames is lagging but the sound is ok.

Can't anyone just make a FU$%&# browser that works? I do not understand why I have to come on a forum and try this...or maybe that...or wait maybe this... just to be able to do what a browser is supposed to do..BROWSE THE INTERNET!
I switched over to Firefox from Chrome because Shockwave kept crashing non-stop while trying to listen to music on Soundcloud and now I have another browser that does the same thing except worse as far as I'm concerned because I have to restart the whole program.
I guess I just don't understand how it can be this difficult to accomplish tasks that seem so trivial in nature...the internet has been around for quite a while now and technology is evolving ever faster by the day but for some reason it seems that the reliability of web browsers is decreasing just as fast in the opposite direction.
Please excuse my frustration......I just wanna be able to listen to a whole DJ mix just one time. Is that really too much to ask? I can't even believe that I might have to resort back to IE...oh man...I thought things were moving forward but apparently I have been looking in the rear view mirror this whole time

  • Freeze while updating after retoring, resetting, charging etc etc

itunes didn't recognize ipod and !folder showed on ipod screen. After charging, resetting, & restoring, I got a disk insertion message. I erased disk and could then import songs to ipod and play songs, but as ipod was mid update of itunes library it froze. Continues to freeze on random songs even updating manually. Did I miss a step? Or does my ipod need work?

    You know,
I'm on my second ipod now. I purchased my last one in late December of 2004. By March, Apple had to replace that one. Now, the replacement that they had sent me is freezing to the point of not functioning. 1 year is PATHETIC for a $300 dollar product. However, I NEED an mp3 player. I couldn't live without one. Am I going to buy another ipod...I don't know. I can understand the battery needing to be replaced, but total failure within such a short period of time is atrocious! When I contacted Apple, I was told that there is nothing that can be done, and that, next time, I should buy the AppleCare. So, for $60 more, I'll have my purchased replaced for 2 years. Because it sure won't last that long. That is not acceptible!

  • Satellite C660-1NX freezes while shutdown after clean Win 7 installation

    Good morning!
The first apologize for my English, I am Spanish and use a translator.
I have a Satellite C660-1NX (PSC1LE-00F00NCE), I had to reformat the computer, put on a clean Windows 7 64x (not recovery) with all original drivers giving official Toshiba page,
Everything looks perfect but when turn off the computer is completely frozen, I thought it was 64x and 86x and install the same, the first day all right, then started the same problem, eh updated BIOS, as usual, before formatting this did not happen, it is very weird,
I find the reason for the problem never happened to any computer this.
    Best regards

You mean the problem started after the recovery partition has been deleted.
    Right?
If you dont have a Toshiba recovery disk, you will not be able to recover the notebook to the factory settings. Of course you could order such disk here: http://backupmedia.toshiba.eu/landing.aspx but to be honest, the clean Windows 7 installation should run properly too.
Maybe you should format the HDD and delete all partitions using the 3rd party tool called GParted: http://gparted.org/liveusb.php
Create live USB stick and boot up the unit using this Gparted stick. Format the HDD, and assign new files system; for example NTFS
After that, install new Win 7 and test the functionality.
