Friends, how is the belle update running on N8?

As of now my product code 0599255 (India) is not showing any available Belle update. I am highly anxious for the feedback on the update. Pls do me this favour of providing your valuable feedbacks.

I did eventually find the link, in Nokia Suite, to reinstall Belle. My laptop crashed once (a Nokia USB driver problem I've reported several times to Nokia but have never been able to resolve) but, I was eventually able to reapply the update without bricking the phone. So, now I am working with it, to see if it's actually working okay.
. . . it's a litle bothersome that, after the update and with no data restored, my Nokia account sign-in screen still knows my login name.

Don't know how long it would take to import that many photos but if you stopped import and ejected the card ther is something else wrong here.
I would Force Quit iPhoto. Then Restart your mac. Then restart iphoto to see if any or all of your photos were imported. If they ae you're good to go. If they were not imported I would try importing fewer photos at a time and see what happens.

How does the software updates actually get installed?

Yesterday I followed the steps to perform "To manually deploy the software updates in a software update group" or
https://technet.microsoft.com/en-us/library/gg712304.aspx. or pages 12-15. In a nutshell, I created a Critical Update item with a collection of 3 servers. When I look
at the Software Update Group area that lists the members that I created, I do see under the tabs that Deployed=Yes and Download=Yes for the items that I created. However, this was not installed on any of the servers. How does
this actually get installed on the collection servers? Did I miss a step? Do the client settings play a role here? Please advise.

Kind of. Yes a software update scan cycle must run (a deployment eval doesn't), but it doesn't wait until the 7 day interval. Simply creating a new deployment in the console will trigger a software update scan cycle on targeted clients:

For your deployment, did you create a "Required" deployment?
Have you reviewed software center on the targeted clients?
Have you check wuahandler.log on the clients.

How are the latest updates working???

Hi
Been away for a while and notice that my trusty Apple System Update is suggesting some changes to iDVD, iPhoto, iMovieHD and Quicktime. Last time I took the plunge blindfolded, my iLife was a disaster (summer 06...). How is the current suite working? I have another project to do. Should I upgrade? The suite from the last upgrade seems to be "happy".

If You have a working environment that works - why risk it ?
There has been some problems regarding iDVD 6.0.3 but if I understands it
right then this depends on miss matching with other programs eg. OS and QT.
So it seems as if OS is up to X.4.8 and QT to 7.1.3 it should work that said
if repair permissions has been run before + after updating.
Running repair hard disk (Apple disk util tool) from CD or ext hd from time to
another is also a good habit.

How come the new updates have the same version as older one?

I received an email about new updates for my PC. Anyway I noticed that I think all or some of the updates have the same version as the previous drivers.
So why is that?

Actually the 'Date last modified' is different.
And I did update my pc even though it was running well.

Does anybody have a Rpm to Mph converter because I want to see how fast the fan is running on my computer?

I have a I mac and I have Istat Pro and I wanna find how many mph it is running at!

Fan speeds are normally measured in rpm's, not mph's. You would need to know the dimensions (esp circumference) of the fan to do a mph conversion - you'd have to take your Mac apart to discover the size of the fans.
iStatPro will tell you the fan rpm's, as will iStatMenus
Is there a specific reason you are concerned about the fan speed, or are you just curious? Basically, as long as the fan doesn't sound like a jet engine, things are fine.

i want to answer the people how are talking about belle is a useless update.first of all a update provide a hardware capacity to run new app.and about belle it is giving great stability to my phone
(i think) it provides number of improvment in user interface which making symbian once again in the race of mobile os like it had notification bar,we can manage menu in a very easy way

Agree. RAM usage is far better as i mentioned somewhere in this forum before. And one thing more: if somebody is calling me while phone is in the pocket the proximity sensor responds quicker than it did on Anna. It was very frustrating if i took ringing cellphone out of my pocket and i had to wait for the display to turn on before answering to actually see who was calling me. Dialling pad is better on Belle in my opinion as there is less chance to accidentally press the green dial button when entering complete telephone number is not finished yet.

None of the drop down menus work they r highlighted gray so I can't access them got the latest updates running lion. 10.7.2 all software is up to date

Just updated everything but when I open iTunes all my drop down menus are gray and I can't selecte them. To close out iTunes I have to use command option esc and force quit because all drop down menus and shaded gray and I can't access them

That was most likely the result of some kind of corruption, as I've already said, not a bug in Mail. Have you repaired the hard drive with Disk Utility recently? That wouldn't be a bad idea.
2 - at random times, mail (or the server) says that my password is incorrect and I must reenter (fix: usually I can quit mail, restart, and the connection is restored without reentering my password)
This is a known issue, where a failure to respond promptly on the server's end mimics what happens when the password is rejected. There's no need to quit Mail, just cancel when asked to enter the password, take the account back online and try again.
3 - mail seems to resort the mail in my mailboxes at random time. Several times a day, I must reset the sort to (a) by date; (b) by desending
Never seen that before. That points more to some kind of possible corruption in your Mail data or preference files.

How does the latest update affect apple t.v.

I read specs on latest iTunes update and there was a mention of new wireless sharing of photos. Nothing looks different on apple tv-can anyone shed light on this?

Photo streaming is now a feature for the tv. Previously all you were able to do was sync photos from the primary source. If you have more than one itunes library registered with the tv you will now notice photos are available from all your sources. If you have only one itunes library registered to the tv then not a lot as changed except you will notice photos are now available both from the source 'tv" and "My itunes Library"

I got an iPhone 3G off my sister who had got it off a friend, I have the latest update and everything seems to work fine, except when i put my telstra sim card in, a message pops up saying "sim failure", can this be fixed or this iPhone unusable? thanx :)

It might mean that the phone is locked to the previous carrier - if you put your sim card in and this happens, could be that the phone is locked.
You would need to ask your sister to ask her friend if the phone was locked to the carrier she was using. If so and you want to use another sim card in the phone the original phone company will have to unlock the phone before this can be done.
To get the phone unlocked though your sister's friend would have to contact the phone company to get it unlocked and she would be the last person to use the phone.

Is there an option to download an older version of Firefox? I downloaded FF4 and there is not one single thingI like about it, especially how slow the browser started running. Older version, somewhere? Please?

I prefer the previous version(s), where everything wasn't so clustered in one corner, where my browser actually opened quickly and it wasn't so painfully box-y.

To downgrade to Firefox 3.6 first uninstall Firefox 4, but do not select the option to "Remove my Firefox personal data". If you select that option it will delete your bookmarks, passwords and other user data.
You can then install the latest version of Firefox 3.6 available from http://www.mozilla.com/en-US/firefox/all-older.html - it will automatically use your current bookmarks, passwords etc.
To avoid possible problems with downgrading, I recommend going to your profile folder and deleting the following files if they exist - extensions.cache, extensions.rdf, extensions.ini, extensions.sqlite and localstore.rdf. Deleting these files will force Firefox to rebuild the list of installed extensions, checking their compatibility, and reset toolbar customizations.

Is the way the free trial of creative cloud runs, how it the actual service runs?

I downloaded the free trial of creative cloud to see if I wanted to purchase. However, when I am using the apps, my computer is slowed down and sometime does not even work. I have a 2012 macbook pro. Will the actual service work better or still cause these problems?

The programs are the real deal and will work the same in the paid versions. Your slowness may be caused by using some specific features. E.g. using TypeKit and the Sync feature have been known to cause slowdowns due to continual file transfers happening in the background. These are specific to certain combinations of Mac OSX with CC on certain types of network connections, however, and not a general issue. You can always try and turn off those features globally in the CC app. Likewise graphics acceleration features in some apps are dependent on the latest drivers and updates and you may need to tweak just that. For anything more you would have to provide more info and describe the specific issues. Just saying that your computer is slow is by all means vague, generic and mostly useless.

Tree generator is not in the fill menu for the latest update running windows 7?

There is no tree generator when pattern is chosen using the fill command. I checked the scripts box but it doesn't look like the tutorial. I am running windows 7 can anyone help?

What is the exact version of photoshop your using?
Look in photoshop under Help>System Info and the top line is the photoshop version.
Anyway, if you have the latest photoshop version cc 2014.2.1, look under Filer>Render>Tree

My Nokia E7-00 Belle update - the good, the bad, a...

Late last night I installed Belle on my E7-00 Anna. It was a completely hands-off install using the USB cable connected to my PC. It took about 15 minutes with multiple restarts of the phone all done by the software update.
I have a 12MB Internet connection (or so my service provider claims) and a UPS backup to reduce the chance of failure due to a poor Internet connection or untimely power outage.
The update was uneventful and the update software did perform a backup before the actual update began. I did do a backup myself of the Anna install before doing the Belle update.
Although I am technically very experienced and competent with Windows based computer hardware and software, I don't consider myself particularly knowledgeable in cell phone technology. So I was glad to see the update go smoothly.
However, all was not peaches and cream after the update completed. Once I started to use the phone I found that many, though not all, of additional application I had downloaded under Anna were no longer on the phone. Also, many settings were gone as well such as my WLAN settings, and later I found all my Favorites gone.
I spent a couple of hours going through all the menus reorganizing the interface and the various options to get the phone in what I consider to be a usable state. These things are made so that one can optimize to suit ones needs and I take advantage of that.
I'm disappointed that I had to spend so much time and effort doing this (actually redoing what had been done in Anna) and feel that the update should have, and could have, kept many of my settings. I understand that the new widgets and home screens meant a re-jigging of those things but, for example, why did I have to re-enter all the WLAN settings required to connect to my home router, including a very long security string? More below.
I am glad that I did the update in spite of all the time and trouble to get everything working again and to suit my personal preferences. I suspect a lot of users who have less experience than I in these things will be seeking help to get all their phone features working again.
Perhaps it would be useful to explain how I use my phone. This is my 6th or 7th cell phone and I'm on my second cell service provider (about 8 years). I have had cell phones continuously ever since they were small enough to carry on one's belt.
I am not a power user. I use the camera occasionally for recording information. I don't download music for listening but occasionally listen to music from the Internet via WLAN. I have not sent more than about a dozen text message in my life, though I have unlimited texting in my cell service package.
I use my cell phone mostly for business calls. I do not have any data service from my service provider. I tried the data service for about 3 months but found that I used it very little. I don't have a Twitter account (thinking about it) nor a Facebook account (and not thinking about it) so other than the rare instance to search the Internet for some information (when not near my own WLAN connection) I found little use for it. Data service here in Canada is one of the most expensive of any country (or so I have seen reported on the Internet). So I decided to save the money.
I do all of my email at my office or at home on desktop PCs with big screens and full size keyboards. Occasionally I connect to my home WLAN with my phone to check email or to check for updates to the phone software. But I don't like to do much typing on the phone keyboard, even though it is really a very good keyboard for a cell phone.
I do use the map/GPS feature regularly and think it is one of the best I've used. I've gone through about five stand-alone GPS units which gives me some reference for comparison.
I'm not much of a game player, never have been, even on my computer. I do have Angry Birds because it was free, and it is nice once in awhile to have something to occupy time when waiting at a doctors office or for a haircut, etc. and all the newspapers and magazines are old.
Here are things that I especially like about the new Nokia (Symbian) Belle software update:
I like the clock screen saver (I use the digital version rather than the analog display) because I can quickly look at my phone without having to unlock it and see the time/date (I've stopped wearing a watch). It is also a great nightstand clock and alarm. With the Light Bar app installed it is not too bright for sleeping but visible when needed. I suspect though that it is sucking a lot of battery power and I may have to disable the clock screen saver if battery charging is too frequent.
The user interface is very good. It is terribly easy to add or remove widgets and move them around on the home screen to suit ones needs. The bar across the bottom makes accessing the applications menu, phone dialer, or options menu extremely quick and easy.
The pull down connectivity menu is superb. With one touch I can turn on or off my Bluetooth, which I use with my car hands-free feature everyday. Turning Bluetooth often when not need saves power. With three taps of the screen I can connect to my home router, or disconnect with one tap.
A new capability that I now have and wished for previously on my E7 (but couldn't figure out how to do) is being able to put my phone in Off-line mode and still use the WLAN feature. This is great in the evening at home when I don't want to be connected to my cell phone provider, but I do want to look up something quickly on the Internet without going to my desktop PC.
After the Belle update I found that I still had the following applications (originally installed in Anna) still available on the phone:

App Stop Camera Lover Pack (multiple apps)

I hope that you are very wrong about having to sync with OVI online services. I have never done that. Nowhere have I seen that as a requirement to store all the data on my phone. And as I said, I do not pay for a data service with my cell provider and only connect my phone to the Internet through my home or work router, or through my PC via USB cable. So syncing to a remote site is not attractive to me.
My impression from Nokia on-line information is that the Nokia Suite application, which runs on my PC, backs up my phone - everything. Where is the logic in backing up everything except my map Favorites. Why would those be an exception?
Additionally, I am not interested in having to backup my confidential information to someone else's server where (in my opinion) I have less security than on my own PC (I do tech support and know how to lock down a computer).
Also, in most cases when one puts information on someone else's server, especially a free service from the like of Google, Facebook, Twitter, (might I suggest Nokia?) etc. one loses control and rights to that information. I'm unwilling to do that simply because someone else thinks it is good for me to do. Ha!
Nothing is truly free. You pay somehow. These service aren't there because they are altruistic. How many billions is the IPO for Facebook worth? Gotta be a reason. All that information that people put there about themselves and others is the reason.
I doubt Facebook would pay me anything to put personal info on their site. I assume most people would think me a bit loony to expect it.
In any event, though there is a lot to like about the Belle update, there are a lot of unnecessary complications, with no warnings!
As I read the posts about peoples experiences with the Belle update I'm seeing a lot of disappointment. From my experience in computing hardware, software and network support it is my opinion that the Belle update was rushed and was done in a less than professional manner.
From what I've been reading, people who have updated to Belle have generally expected it to be near perfect and hassle free, and many are really disappointed. The end experience with the Anna update was much better in my opinion. Not good for Nokia customer relations.
Nokia customer loyalty easily rivaled that of Apple. But that has been seriously damaged with things like trashing Memo, going with the MS Windows phone OS, and a disappointing Belle update for all those expensive Nokia smart phones. Kinda dumb.
I suspect that most if not all of the first line developers have been pulled off Symbian to do development work on the Windows phone OS. The missing or incomplete bits and pieces in Belle, plus some gratuitous changes suggest less then experienced software developers working on Belle.
Enough grousing. I just hope that things get fixed, but I'm feeling very pessimistic right now. I wouldn't mind being proved wrong.
