Frist charge : shall I use the macbook pro on the battery until the computer shut down automatically? Thanks.

Hi. First, sorry for my English, i'm not a native speaker.
It's the firt time i buy a macbook (pro) (and the first time i post here).
I have recieved my macbook pro today, firt i've pluged it to the home electricity, and the i've started it. Then, when the battery charge was full, i've unplugged it. And now, my main question is : Shall i used the computer on the battery until it shut down automaticaly, or shuld i plug back the computer to electricity before it shut down?
Thanks a lot,
Jean-Alexandre.

Portables with built-in batteries
Current Apple portable computer batteries are pre-calibrated and do not require the calibration procedure outlined in this article. These computers use batteries that should be replaced only by an Apple Authorized Service Provider.

I have exactly the same problem, which started again yesterday; coincidentally the day my warranty ran out!
The situation is complicated for me because I live in rural lincolnshire, but was in London all summer and had a new logic board replaced under warranty last month at the London- Stratford store.
It seems the £400 logic board replacement didn't fix it. When I try to get support, the website just laughs at me and holds out the cup for more money.  I had a chat with somebody in the store this evening and I've got to take it into a store AGAIN!
Perusal of the 'Support' pages turns up literally thousands of people who have this or similar faults, all the way back to 2006, and I've not seen anything yet indicating that Apple have got a grip of it.
I've been using Apple kit for 16 years now and I've never had any trouble until now, but this bloody laptop, which is no better than my iMac now for portability  has let me down badly several times in the last 6 weeks.
I'm really hacked off with this, get your **** together Apple!

My MacBook pro is stuck on white screen after shut down. Now, neither this is turn on nor turn off.

You should be able to turn off your MBP by pressing the power button down continously for about 5-10 sec. When you reboot it you are going to want to enter into a terminal screen. Hopefully the following YouTube video helps: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=qKOX72xNmbo

Adobe Reader is free. It always has been.
You have obviously downloaded and installed Acrobat (30 day trial version) and the trial period has expired.
You need to uninstall Acrobat (using the Control Panel and Add/Remove Programs or Programs and Features [Vista/7])
Then run the Windows Installer Cleanup Utility http://support.microsoft.com/kb/290301
to completely remove the Acrobat installer files.
Then download Reader 9, install it, and go about reading PDFs for free.
EDIT: Please, please please.... do NOT post a phone number in the forums.
You're inviting trouble if you do.

I have a 27" iMac mid 2011 2.7 GHz intel core i5 with OS 10.10.1.  For about the last month when I shut down I get a window that says "Continue the installation Choose abort if you wish to cancel the installation  ABORT   YES".   If I don't press anything or if I choose ABORT or Yes the message goes away and the computer shuts down.  But the next time I use the computer and then shut down the message is back.  I have looked to see if there are any downloads pending or if there are any updates trying to download.  I am very puzzled.

Genieo Adware is installed.  Removing it will help.
If you have another browser installed, use it.
If not, launch App store and get another  browser for temporary use.
    Remove it afterwards.
    1. Use  free  AdwareMedic by clicking “Download ” from here

I've right and left clicked the black window, restarting the computer, shutting down the computer, but the window always appears when I open iPhoto and it will not move or go away. It stays on my screen (covering my desktop icons) even after I quit iPhoto. How can I get it off my screen?

Which version if iPhoto and MacOS X do you have?
Do you have any iPhoto plug-ins  installed?
    Open the folder /Library/Application Support/iPhoto/Plugins/
To navigate to that folder, open the folder "Library" directly on your Macintosh HD, then inside the Library folder go to Application Support, then iPhoto.  Is there anything installed?

I do not have a startup disk. I did try fsck (based on what I learned from your reply-thank you). This failed (fsck); here is the message:

  • After installing Maverick on my iMac, the computer shuts down during boot up. Suggestion?

I installed on an iMac purchased new in January 2013 with full specs, the computer shuts down every time the desktop begins to load.  I've reinstalled Maverick twice from Restore screen, all to no avail.  I don't have any recent Time machine back ups to restore from because of external hard drive failure.  Have a few thousand dollars worth of software on the computer that won't be replaced if not deactivated, so would hate to lose it all, but most of my data is in Drop box. Any suggestions?

Have you tried booting into the Recovery HD, selecting Disk Utility>Macintosh HD>Repair Disk to see if any repairs are needed.? If anything gets fixed/altered click on repair disk again until you get a clean pass. Restart as normal from the Apple menu. To do this, restart holding down Command + r (more details here: http://support.apple.com/kb/HT4718 ).
