FRITZ!Box Fon WLAN 7390

Hi All
This is my first post so be gentle!!
I was using my BTOpenreach modem with my Draytek 2830Vn+.  Unfortunately the Draytek has now been refunded due to a fault and I'm back on my HomeHub3.
After much research I have found FRITZ!Box Fon WLAN 7390 to be a good replacement for both Modem and Router.
Can anyone confirm this will work with my BT Infinity line and does it perform better than the BT Supplied equipment?  How is the wireless perfromance and even the Ethernet Performance?
Also how long has this been out for is it worth waiting for a newer model?
Thanks!

Hi sohail579
The fritz!box 7390 definitly works with Infinity, even with the factory firmware, you just set the VLAN to 101 and NO password needed. Even easier when using newer firmware.
Ethernet performance is just as good, wireless I found slightly weaker signal, but does have  simultaneous dual band wireless, so might help you there.
It is more expensive than the Draytek 2750, but does offer far more for the money.
Plug your phones into it, it is also a Dect base station, it has 5 answerphones, VOIP and many many more features.
That is why it is expensive.
If you have your phones connected mine did not give out Caller Indentification , although AVM say it should and are looking into it but after 2 months still not working.  Unfortunatly I cannot wait, I must have Caller ID and had to let mine go.
I believe it has been out for about 6-9 months.
So to sum up, if you really need all the fetures go for the Fritz, but remember (my caller ID) was not working
If you dont need all the features drop down to the Draytek 2750n and save a bit of money.
If you go for the Fritz , the cheapest place I could find for the International version was in France.

  • FRITZ!Box Fon WLAN 7390 versus Draytek 2750n

    [EDIT]
Thanks for your responses - Draytek it is.
Currently available at broadbandbuyer.co.uk for £161.
    [/EDIT]
    Hello -
I'm about to get BT Infinity and on the basis of the research I've done in this and other forums it seems I might benefit from swapping out the boxes BT provides for an alternative.
I've narrowed my choice to the FRITZ!Box Fon WLAN 7390 and the Draytek 2750n.
I've read quite a bit about both and I'm leaning towards the Drayte, only on the basis that I don't really need (and wouldn't make use of) the massive featureset that the FRITZ!Box offers.
In essence, my requirement is for a stable, fast, long-ranging wireless connection (old house, thick walls).
If you've got experience with either or both of the FRITZ!Box or the Draytek, I'd really appreciate anyandive you could give on which is the better bet for a fast and stable wifi connection.
    Thanks!

    Solved!
    Go to Solution.

I just wanted to follow up on this thread to note a couple of things about the Draytek 2750 that prospective purchasers may want to know which are not clear prior to purchase.
    1) the 2750 does NOT use machine names - everything needs to be done using MAC addresses and IP addresses. This means you need to know and remember what the MAC/IP address is for each machine on your network. If you don't have many machines this may not be an issue but if you administer more than a handful this is (IMHO) a bit of a hassle.
    2) possibly related, but when you bind a machine to a particular IP address then machine name visible to the network gets overridden and replaced by ipbindmac0 (ipbindmac1 etc). So if, for example, you have a network share bound to a particular IP address, it will not be called $machinename or $IPaddress but rather "ipbindmac0". Again, probably not a big deal if your network is small and straight-foweard, but a complete hassle if it's not.
    My two pence.

  • Configure FRITZ!Box Fon WLAN 7320 for PPPOE PASS-Through

I just switched ISP providers, from ARCOR to 1&1 and received a new FRITZ!Box Fon WLAN 7320 modem. I've been trying to figure our (without success) how to get it to do pppoe pass-through and allow my Airport Extreme router to the authenication with 1&1 versus the Fritzbox. I would greatly appreciate any and all assistance.
I do not want to use the Fritzboz WLAN and/or have it do the PPPOE authenication.

  • How can I store my iTunes library on an NAS (Fritz Box)?

How can I store my iTunes library on an NAS (Fritz Box)?

    1. Drag the library to the external drive, launch iTunes with the Option key held down, click on Choose Library, and point it there.
    2. Get a second. Having the backups on the same drive as the original data won't help when that drive fails.

Connecting fritz box to time capsule

They cannot be bridged to each other..
The TC can join the wireless of the Fritz.. end result.. poor poor speed.. and the TC becomes a dumb client of the network.. it will just be a hard disk in a slow slow router.
    Strongly recommend you don't.
Have a try if you like.. the method is here.

  • Fritz box does not set Store.e USB3.0 1TB 3,5" into sleep mode

    Hello
I like to use the HDD on a Fritz.box als USB-Storage.
The box allows to switch the HDD into sleep mode.
But the HDD does not want to do this.
How (and where) I can change the settings?
    Thank you
    Greetings from germany

    Hello JoeLouis
+Why are you so sure that there must be an function or setting?+
please google for *"external hdd spin down"*
You see, that there are many people who are talking about this.
Some like to stop spin down, some like to shorten the time and some like to use it (like me)
+So either this HDD is not compatible for such usage or its does not provide such functionality.+
that was my question: i thought in toshiba support forum s.o. could tell me.
+In your case I would recommend testing another HDD maybe an 2.5 HDD which needs only an USB cable without additionally power cable.+
I know. First bought a Stor.e 2TB 2,5" for this, but the usb port of the fritzbox does not have enough power for it. So I tried touse the 3,5 " Version.
+A colleague told me that exactly this HDD could do so.+
He will bring it to me, maybe we change the hausing ( he dont like the spin down option )
I try to get some Info somewhere else.

this window dissappears only, when i close iphoto.

It appears that your Library is corrupted in a very odd way that I've not seen before.
    Option 1
Back Up and try rebuild the library: hold down the command and option (or alt) keys while launching iPhoto. Use the resulting dialogue to rebuild. Choose to Rebuild iPhoto Library Database from automatic backup.
    If that fails:
    Option 2
Download iPhoto Library Manager and use its rebuild function. This will create a new library based on data in the albumdata.xml file. Not everything will be brought over - no slideshows, books or calendars, for instance - but it should get all your albums and keywords back.
Because this process creates an entirely new library and leaves your old one untouched, it is non-destructive, and if you're not happy with the results you can simply return to your old one. .

  • Mac Mini Vs. Fritz Box 7390, ethernet problem (LAN)

    Hey wellwishers,
A few days ago my internet provider came in and installed the fibre optics internet. They came with a new modem as well, the Fritz!Box 7390. While connecting all my devices, everything seemed to work just fine, until I lined up my Mac mini. For some reason only the wireless internet seems to work. The wired connection also seems to be recognized just fine (IP configurated, green icon in front, etc.) but it doesn't seem to work at all. The browsers and programs just show there is no internet connection.
I've called the internet provider, and after several attempts of fixing it (by changing IP's and whatever) they redirected me to Apple, saying the Mac mini's with the "Farallon Network Cards" tend to show problems with this modem. There was a way of fixing it but I had to update the driver. (Mac mini is up to date)
So I had google do the dirty work for me, and I found some things to do such as removing/renaming the network preferences file, resetting the router, trying diffirent cables and check on another network to determain if it actually was the modem or the Mac mini. Been there, done that, yet I still didn't get it to work properly on the Fritz!Box only.
I've been told that I should find an update for my network card, but I haven't found a way on how to do that yet.
Where can I find devices updates like that? Anyone here seen a problem like this before with the Fritz!Box 7390? This is 2/3, hoping to find a solution here. Else I have to knock on the door of the Fritz!Box company themselves..
    Thanks!
edit: Its a Mac mini. (Mid 2011)
Had OS X Snow Leopard. Re-installed the files hoping that would work, but it didn't. Decided to just update to OS X Mountain Lion v10.8.1, hoping that would work..

    No driver required.
Does that cable work OK on another computer?
Does Network Properties show cable unplugged?
On the the other end of the cable is the light lit by the connected port?

I've seen similar behaviour, slightly different network with a WiFi 3G Router extended (WDS) with an Airport Express. In my case the machine stayed connected to the 'base station' it connected to upon joining a the network i.e. if I switch on the machine close to the Airport it stays connected to that even if I move closer to the 3G router and vice versa - no roaming between base stations.
Only trick that worked was same as you turning off and on the airport on my mac.

  • 802.1x Win7 Popup box - Netsh wlan connect - VBscript

    Hello,
Is there a way to programatically pop up the sign in/authentication box for a user who connects to a 802.1x access point via NetSh?
The "netsh wlan connect name=<profile name>" command works great for kicking off the connection from a vbscript.   I'd just like to put a little polish on the process by poping up the actual authentication box for the user.  That way I
can avoid having to rely on the user to manually click the popup message from the sys tray.
A lot of information and walk throughs have been published on how to find the and use the popup message box.  I wonder if anyone else has had any luck with this subject or not.  Perhaps if I could find the name of the application that runs the popup
I could grant it focus and force the popup.
Any tricks or advice is appreciated.

The answer depends on how the user is running the Netsh command.  I get an automatic authentication popup on Win7 by placing the Netsh command in a batch file, and then by running the batch from from a VBS using the RunAs argument of ShellExecute function.
This may be a little late to help you, but someone else may benefit from it.  Here's an example:
    Filename: OpenHailingFrequency.vbs
    Dim Args
    Args="/c {Drive}:{\pathToBatchFile}\openHailingFrequency.bat"
    Set oApp=CreateObject("Shell.Application")
    oApp.ShellExecute "cmd", Args, , "runas", 1
    #Filename: OpenHailingFrequency.bat
    @echo off
    netsh wlan connect name=MyWirelessConnectionName interface="MyInterfaceName"
I simply create a desktop or menu shortcut to OpenHailingFrequency.vbs.  It opens a DOS cmd window and runs the batch file, requesting permission first.

  • Problem with connection to Fritz Box 5050

Hello, I am living in germany and I have a strange problem: I've switched from one ISP to another, and from one DSL modem to another. I've had no problems in the past with connecting to the internet via airport express. But today I made the switch and I can connect via ethernet direct to my computer, but when I plug it into my airport and try to configure it, it hangs on "looking for PPoE host" and then times out. In the ethernet config, I changed the status from one location to "automatic" and with that, I get all my info automatically. but when I try to do the same via airport, I get a different IP address. (Meaning it's not the same as the automatic setting from the ethernet information)
Has anyone had the same problem? I am stumped. Can anyone help me?

What error messages are you getting?
What happens when you try to display the page?

    - JSPs shouldn't be connecting to databases. That should be done in the data access layer, not the view layer. Put the code in beans/java code.
    - Why reinvent the wheel? There are a couple of excellent taglibs out there that already do DB connections. Check out the JSTL sql tags.

  • Alternative to Broadband Talk?

I have put off upgrading to Infinity because I work home office and find the Broadband Talk option with the HH2 extremely useful. But the lure of super-fast broadband is just too much, so I've been exploring alternatives to BBTalk.
Skype is an option, but it's still a little flakey, so I was wondering if anyone has any experience of connecting a Siemens Gigaset N300 base to the Home Hub 3? In theory this should work, provided BT is not doing anything to disable it.
    Thanks for your help.

I use this Siemens unit with BT Infinity and BT Total Broadband before that without absolutely any problems. I connected it to both a HH2 and HH3 but have out of personal preference replaced the HH's with a Draytek 2750n.
There is the 2750vn that allows it to be used as a Voip Dect base unit and others on the Forum have gone for the Fritzphone option.

Given the BT " all day free calls" bundle unless calling internationally do you need a voip service? Having said that I use the Call Sign feature service for another number on the same line to differentiate between "work" calls answered by me and "private" calls answered by the family. My use of VOIP is for my wife to phone her mother in Eire for free using another provider.
