Hi Friends,
I installed oracle 9i release 9.0.1.3.1 on my windows XP machine. Then, i installed Oracle9i Developer Suite Release 2(9.0.2.0.1). During the DS installation i encountered an error: oci.dll cannot be modified, which i ignored and completed the installation. However when i tried to run a form i create using Form Builder, i receieved the following error:
FRM-10142: The HTTP Listener is not running on laminator at port
8888. Please start the listener or check your runtime preferences.
I tried starting the HTTP Listener service but received the following error message:
Syntax error on line 14 of C:\oracle\ora91\rdbms\aqxml.conf:
Invalid command 'ApJServGroupMount', perhaps mis-spelled or defined by a module
not included in the server configuration.
Can someone please tell me how i can fixed this problem? i really need to get the Form Builder to work in order to prepare for the 1z0-131 exam. Should i try installing forms on a difference windows platform?
i will be grateful for any suggestion.
-ani finally found the solution. The solution is to start an instance of OCJ4, which is conveniently located at the same subcategory as the Form Builder.

FRM-10142 Forms error need help!
Hi -- I am getting an error while trying to run a form in Oracle Forms Builder. The error is "FRM-10142 The HTTP listner is not running on (computer Name) at port 8888. Please start the listener or check your runtime preferences."
My tnsnames file has a port set at 1521, so I don't know why the listener is checking at port 8888. I am running a Windows Xp Professional box and am using Oracle 9i. Can anyone help?
This is what the line in my tnsnames file looks like. My database SID is oraclass and I am running it in dedicated mode.
ORACLASS=(DESCRIPTION=(ADDRESS_LIST=(ADDRESS=(PROTOCOL=TCP)(HOST=127.0.0.1)(PORT=1521)))(CONNECT_DATA=(SID=ORACLASS)))Are you running the form directly from forms 9i/10g designer? The URL used is pointing at your own machine and expects the listener to be there. Start the OC4J instance from the same menu as the forms designer.

The WLS managed server WLS_FORMS must be started .
You can use a BAT script containing the following command lines to start it :
title WLS_FORMS
set DOMAIN_HOME=D:\oracle\fmw11g\user_projects\domains\ClassicDomain
cd %DOMAIN_HOME%\bin
set SERVER_NAME=WLS_FORMS
call setDomainEnv.cmd
cd %DOMAIN_HOME%\bin
set WLS_USER=weblogic

FRM-10142 The Http Listener (Dos Window Does not Stay Open)
Dear Sir
URGENT

I mean OC4J instance dos window des not staying open at task bar.In oracle 10g forms builder and 11g database
Please guide me how this problem would be solve...?
YassenFor URGENT questions go right to https://support.oracle.com and file a Prio 1 SR with Oracle Support. For everything else I don't see why your question is more urgent then others.
Did you check if maybe the port OC4J runs on (8889) is already used by another program (netstat)? Did you check the logfiles?

For these browsers you need to configure forms so that it uses the SUN-plugin, the jinitiator will not work. Search the forum for SUN PLUGIN
In which browsers do not have to?

SowmyaHi Somya
I think, There is no system default browser system on your machine or it cannot be determined follow below action -
Action:
In Forms Developer, select Tools--> Preferences and select the runtime tab. Here you can specify the Browser to be used when running Forms.Specify the browser executable location in the runtime preferences.
Also you can review the OTN thread frm-18125

Error while running Oracle 9i forms
Dear
First of all, let me know that Oracle 9i Forms is only for web application or we may use it for client server envirnoment.
I installed Oracle 9i Database & Oracle 9i Forms on Windows XP. Connection between Database & forms works properly.
But When I click to run a form, I'm receiving this error.
FRM - 10142 The HTTP Listener is not running on Amfah (my Computer Name) at port 8888. Please start the listener or check your runtime preferences.
Please Help me !!
Waiting for an early replyWhen a report terminates with an error, REPORT_OBJECT_STATUS returns the value "TERMINATED_WITH_ERROR", which is 21 bytes of data, but rep_status is defined as 20 bytes. The 6502 error is due to the data not fitting the variable.
I recommend wrapping the REPORT_OBJECT_STATUS function with a SUBSTR that limits the data returned to 20 bytes, which will ensure the results fit.
For example:
rep_status := SUBSTR(REPORT_OBJECT_STATUS(v_rep), 1, 20); -
Hi Plz help me,
Step - 1
I had installed Oracle 10g Developer Suite on Stand alone PC at home.
With database as Oracle 9i.
Step - 2
After installation, I configured the
"Local Net Service Name Configuration" -> Oracle 8i or later database -> Service Name (Anthony) -> Host Name (my computer Name) -> Standard Port Number (1521)
Step - 3
After this I'm able to connect with the database.
But getting an error (While running the Form)
FRM-10142 : HTTP Listner is not running on <my computer name>
at port <8888/8889)
Step - 4
I configured Listener Name (Anthony) -> and port number (1521).
Step - 5
I started - OC4J Instance - in the Program -> Oracle 10g -> Form Developer.
Step - 6
When I run the form the Internet Explorer Browser get Launched,
but I get an error - Page cannot be displayed.
Plz let me know what should I mention in the
Edit -> Preferences -> Runtime
Application Server URL :
Web Browser Location :
Is there any error in the step I'm following,
Plz assist with a step by step solution.
Thank You.maybe you did something to much...
3 steps I normally need for an installation:
1) install Forms 10g
2) update my tnsnames.ora manually so that I can connect to my company-databases.
3) start the oc4j
now I can use Forms Builder and can do whatever I want
sometimes it's important to do this in the Forms Builder
EDIT - PREFERENCES - Tab Runtime :
click on "Reset to Default" for the App-Server-URL
click on "Browse" and define the Web Browser Location
the last bullet point is important for paths with blanks e.g. c:\program files\internet explorer for example... -
Configuring 9iAS and 9iDS on stand-alone WIN XP Pro
I've been trying to finish up assignments for class using Forms Builder from 9iDS, and now when I try to run a form after it has been compiled I get this message:
FRM-10142: The HTTP listener is not running on <computer name> at port 8889. Please start the listener or check your runtime preferences.
I've read through various websites, along with Oracle, that talk about configuring the HTTP listener. And all of them mention an Oracle Application Server Manager 4.0. I cannot find such a component in my installation of 9iAS.
The TNS Listener seems to be running fine. I'm able to connect to the database, and run various services. Can you tell me how I can get an HTTP Listener configured?
A Question that was asked was if I was running the form as a web-form or as client-server? The HTTP listener is only involved when attempting to run the form as a "web-form".
Also, for some reason, the DEMO schema did not get installed. Where would I find this?Quote
Has anyone here actually had a problem which they traced to SP2 and as a result decided to remove SP2 or otherwise go back to an XP install without SP2?
No one that i've heard about if installing from slipstreamed sp2 cd.
The only ones with problems i've noticed is peps that have all kind of software and drivers installed pre sp2 upgrade .
And the upgrade goes bad caused by unidentified installed software and/or drivers that crash with the A64 combined with sp2 DEP technology. -
