From a small publisher.

I own a Sony reader, Nook and Kindle. My published EBooks sell at B&N and Amazon, I would like to sell them at Sony's Estore. The problem is that Sony is small publisher or author hostile in its business setup. Smashwords conversion while nice is also a very difficult process unless you specifically own a Microsoft product and even then it is hit and miss.
In creating EBooks myself without smashwords systems, I am able to test and verify my products as working properly. The problem that Sony must recognize and overcome that B&N and Amazon especially have in place is that they allow authors or small publishers to directly upload their custom covers, EBook formatted file, information and pricing at their websites which is why the selection for EBooks is greater. Would I like to sell my titles on the Sony E-reader's absolutely, but until Sony realizes the changed publishing landscape and marketplace, it excludes my titles and that of many other authors and smaller publishers from being able to sell on its platform and thus provide their customers with more titles, many of them great titles at that.
Sony, please look at how Kindle treats smaller publishers and independent authors and get a system in place. It's time to change with the landscape and provide your many readers more titles and also granting access to your platform for many smaller businesses rather than locking them out or forcing them to other websites that might not get you their titles as well.
I thank you and your readers and hope this posting will really open things for my work as well as that of my fellow authors and small publishers as well.

How do I copy my time machine back up from a smaller Hard disk to a larger hard disk; so that I can then continue to back up, through Time machine, on the larger hard disk?

I am using time machine for backing up on an external hard disk. This has now become full and every back up results in the deletion of the first back up on the hard drive.
I have bought a larger hard drive now and am trying to copy the back up from the smaller hard drive to the new larger hard drive, using Finder. This is not happening and the message I am getting is
"The volume has the wrong case sensitivity for a back up"

Thanks for the question. Based on what you stated, it seems like you are not able to move a backup to another drive. I would recommend that you read this article, it may be able to help you isolate or resolve the issue.

If it is not formatted as Mac OS Extended (Journaled), reformat the drive as Mac OS Extended (Journaled) with a GUID partition. If you do not know how, see the steps in this article.
If the drive is formatted as Mac OS Extended but without journaling, OS X may state that "the volume has the wrong case sensitivity" to be used as a back up disk.

If you already have a license for photoshop cs6, why do you want photoshop cs2?
You can just install photoshop cs6 on your new computer provided both operating systems are the same kind (both mac or both windows)
If you don't have an install dvd for cs6, you can download photoshop cs6 from here and use your serial:

Request to run updater.exe from an unknown publisher starting firefox

every time Firefox is started from initial turn on of computer (not from the computer being hibernated or in sleep mode), I receive a message to run Updater.exe from an Unknown Publisher. There is nothing to show that this is a Firefox application but, I am not receiving any threat messages either. Is there any way to find out where this Updater is coming from and if it is to be trusted?

Do you use a Norton security suite? If so, I suggest checking with Norton's support on whether that prompt is legitimate.
You will find numerous unofficial distributors advertising on Google for Firefox downloads. These generally are bundles of crap along with Firefox. You should check to make sure you don't have such a thing installed.
Open the Windows '''Control Panel''', Uninstall a Program. After the list loads, click the "Installed on" column heading to group the infections, I mean, additions, by date. This can help surface undisclosed bundle items that snuck in with some software you agreed to install. Take out as much trash as possible here.
You can supplement your regular security software with the '''scanning/cleaning tools''' listed in our support article: [[Troubleshoot Firefox issues caused by malware]]. These on-demand scanners are free and take considerable time to run. If they finish quickly and especially if they require payment, you may have a serious infection. How to replicate bundle from Author to Publish

Hi,
I have published a java bundle by right clicking and select 'Build Bundle' on the 'bnd' file, the bundle gets deployed properly on the 'Author' instance, but the 'publish' instance deploy failed.
The code currently works in 'Author'.
How do I replicate the bundle from Author to Publish? Does 'Build Bundle' only deploy the bundle to 'Author'? If yes, step by step how do I replicate the bundle to Publish?

The canonical answer would be: Put the bundle into a CRX package (path: /apps/<appname>/install) and then upload the package to the instances you want to deploy the package.
If you want to transport that package via replication, it will work. But be aware, that then you deploy it to all publishs more or less in parallel, which might be an unwanted behaviour. The usual trick is to partition your publishs into 2 distinct sets. One set is active and receives requests by the loadbalancer, the other is idle and does not receive any requests from the loadbalancer in front of them.
Then reconfigure the replication agents pointing to the active set of publishs, and change their port to an unused one. This prevents that the replication is successfully working to this publishs, but the agents do still accept replication requests from the authors (but they are not executed). If you activate then the package, the package will be replicated only to the idle set of publishs and is installed there. Then switch the configuration for both sets of publishs and make the active set the idle one and vice versa. Now you only need to wait until the replication queues to the (new) idle set of publishs is emptry and the package is installed. Now all publishs have the new package installed and you can configure all replication agents back to "normal" settings.
That's a common deployment strategy used by many projects. If done properly you don't face any problems on your live site.

I am Having trouble exporting from a small USB drive to external hard drive

Hello I have several small usb removable drives, which in would like to put onto an external hard drive. When I try to do this it will not let me do it. The external hard drive comes up in the hard drive of the computer and the small USB comes up in removable drives. I have tried everything I can think of, but it still will not move them from the small removable drive to the external. I have been trying to save them is this where I am going wrong, should I be copying them instead.

but I can not manage to create a iPhone 5 iOs app from a Digital Publishing Suite from a folio made on Adobe inDesign CS6 with iPhone 5 Resolution 1 136 x 640 pixels.

is this possible and how to do it (i tried so many ways)
if not i just want to understand what is it really possible to do with DPS on iPhone ...

You use App Builder to create an application with both iPad and iPhone checked on the first page. Then you publish your two folios by going to http://digitalpublishing.acrobat.com/. The viewer will automatically show the right size one in the library for each device.
It is not possible to have only one folio for each format that launches directly. The only way to get content onto an iPhone with DPS is to do a multi-issue ("multiple publication") application.

Question about publishing from a small agency

my apologies if this question has already been asked, but I've not been able to find a clear answer yet looking through here.
I work for a small agency. We prepare materials for a small number of sales reps (less than 50) for about 4 clients. All of these reps will soon have iPads, and we are preparing materials solely for iPad use. We do not prepare materials for public consumption - we know in advance who all of the users of our pepared materials will be.
I've been reading through the DPS materials, and I've experimented with the Folio tools in InDesign. My questions concern distribution.
Since we have such a small number of people that we need to send materials to, do we even need to purchase a DPS license? It seems as though I can prepare multiple folios in InDesign and send them up to the Folio Producer. I can then share them by using the 'Share' button there and typing in the email addresses. As long as the recipient of the email has an Adobe login, and has the Adobe Viewer app on their iPad, it seems like they can load the folio. In this scenario it doesn't seem like we need to use the Distribution Service? But I'm wondering if there are limits to the number of folios we can send up to the Folio Producer, or if there is a limit to the number of people we can send out materials to using the 'Share' method?
If my assumption is correct, and we don't currently need a DPS license, I'm wondering what advantages we could get from a license (DPS Pro Edition for example). I think these could be:
- if we want access to analytics?
- if we want to be able to package as a native iOS app and sign using an Apple enterprise distribution certificate?
- if we want to have a custom version of the Viewer?

No, you don't need to purchase a DPS license if you want to distribute via sharing. You can also set up a single account using an email address such as publish@"mydomain".com and everyone logs in with that address.
Is there a limit to the number of Folios, No, but I think there is a limit of 2GB, you would need to pay for a monthly Acrobat.com account to put up more data.
The advantages you get with a license: yes, yes, yes and support.

Captivate 6 randomly dropping imported audio from slides during publish.

I think I remember this occurring in 5.5 as well, but only very occasionally. In this (my first) cp6 project, it's occurred 3 times already.
What occurs is that upon viewing the output (.exe), one slide will just not play the audio imported to it, although the slides before that one and the slides after it play their imported files.
I have re-published the project 6 times, and in two of those new publishes, it has dropped audio in a different slide, and played the audio on the slide where it previously did not play audio.
The imported files play just fine in all slides during preview in every case, so it seems to be occuring at publish. These are straight Audio > Import to > Slide wav files.
Anyone else see this?
At this point I just have to keep re-publishing until I get one that plays all files and call it a day.

I finally got around to updating to 6.0.1.240 this morning.
The audio issue seems to still be there....it still drops imported audio from certain sildes, randomly. It changes with every publish.
THEORY: I noticed that on one of the slides where audio didn't play, the audio file contained a small silent region before the narration began. Maybe .3 or .5 seconds. I removed that silent portion so that the narration starts almost immediately (i.e. less than .2 second seconds of silence.) and for that slide, the audio did play at publish. So perhaps something in the playback exe is ignoring any audio that starts "too late" into the slide.... ?
I am now going back to check the audio files in every slide to remove any preceding silent passaages, and see if that cures this. Will update with my findings.
Another issue I noticed is that my background loop randomly stops playing. (This may have been in the previous build, too, not sure.) Not sure if this is in any way related.
If I pause and un-pause, the background music returns (starts at beginning of loop), and then stops again.. I verfied that "Loop Audio" is turned on.

BIP report security from Dashboard to Publisher is not working

I created a BIP report(.xdo) and placed it on Dashboard as a link . As admin , I can see the report . As a user , I am able to get into publisher but not able to see the report . Iam getting the below error message .
Error : Unauthorized Access: please contact the administrator.
I suspect that security model from Dashboard through BIP is not working . I tried searching the online resources but couldnt find right help .
Iam a newbie for BIP , I followed the regular BIP guides , configured eveything as per the docs and things work as admin . But I want to test the security as user .
Where Iam doing wrong , Any ideas please help .

I have grant permissions to the user and the report in BI webcatalog and also in BIP under admin tab I have addes the role which the user belongs to and also the shared folder . Still the problem exists.
My BI presentation servcies security is working . My user security is also working , all that I need is the user should be able to see the report when he clicks on BIP link placed in dashboard.
