From ASM to C ASM

Help
How to this asm code
mov dx,3d4h
mov al,0F
mov ah,byte [tty_cursor]
out dx,ax
mov al,0E
mov ah,byte [tty_cursor+1]
out dx,ax
replace to ASM C code AT&T?

Are you talking about inline ASM? If so that depends on the compiler but here is a link to inline asm in gcc:http://www.ibiblio.org/gferg/ldp/GCC-In … HOWTO.html . I hope that helps.

  • How to restore (not duplicate) DB from RAC ASM to non ASM

    Hello everybody,
    i am trying to recover db from RAC+ASM to non ASM no RAC node. I am running Oracle 10g (10.2.0.4) on Win2003 Server. I have functional backup from my prod system.
    Here are my steps:
    *1. On prod server i make backup running this script in RMAN*
    configure channel device type 'SBT_TAPE' parms'SBT_LIBRARY=oracle.disksbt,ENV=(BACKUP_DIR=e:\backup)';
    RUN {
    backup device type SBT_TAPE database tag zal20081129;
    SQL 'alter system archive log current';
    backup device type SBT_TAPE archivelog ALL tag zal20081129;
    *2. I prepared clon instance on another server (The same Oracle version) and start it to nomount mode.*
    *3. I copied the backup from prod server to clon server to exactly the same path. (e:\backup)*
    *4. I connect to RMAN on my new node and I use the DBID parameter and I restore controlfile.*
    rman
    connect target /
    set DBID 3079749916
    startup nomount
    run {
    allocate CHANNEL CTAPE DEVICE TYPE 'SBT_TAPE' PARMS'SBT_LIBRARY=oracle.disksbt,ENV=(BACKUP_DIR=f:\backup)';
    allocate channel CDISK DEVICE TYPE DISK;
    restore controlfile from 'f:\backup\78k91lrn_1_1';
    alter database mount;
    *5.Then I check the backup, crosscheck etc.*

    *.db_create_file_dest='e:\oradata\agost'
    *.db_create_online_log_dest_1='e:\oradata\agost'
    Any suggestions???
    Thanks

    Hi,
    thanks for you quick answer. But I do restore to the local file system, even if the log says:
    restoring datafile 00001 to +DATA/agost/datafile/system.272.668509367
    restoring datafile 00002 to +DATA/agost/datafile/undotbs1.273.668509387 .....
    all the datafiles are correctly restored. I think oracle uses the parameter db_create_file_dest and creates the files there.
    I tried also the script with SET NEW NAME:
    run {
    Set newname for datafile 1 to 'e:\oradata\AGOST\system.272.668509367';

  • Copying files from ASM to Remote ASM, Fails.

    Dear All,
    I am trying to copy files from ASM to Remote ASM disk groups, failing with the following error,
    ASMCMD-8201: (Bad argc for RDBMS:ASMCMD-8201) , any idea.
    Syntax: cp -- port 1521 +RECO_ABC/ABC/BKP/xyz.dbf sys@hostname.+ASM1:+RECO_XYZ/XYZ/xyz.dbf
    Thanks.

    cp -ifr <source file name> <user_name>@<host_name>.<Port Number>.<SID>:<targer path>/<target file name>
    user_name@host_name.<Port Number>.<SID>
    The user_name, host_name, and SID are required. The default port number is 1521.
    reason for error :
    It could be due to following reason.
    * not able to reach remote host.
    * Remote host listener is down.
    * Remote ASM Instance is not registered with listener and running non-default port.
    * sysasm remote connection does not work.
    * Incorrect password given for sys user.
    * Remote ASM Instance password file missing.
    We need to enable additional tracing for asmcmd connection to get a exact failure message.
    ++ set DBI_TRACE environment variable for asmcmd perl tracing.
    export DBI_TRACE=1
    ++ Now connect using asmcmd and re-produce the issue.

  • How to migrate 11gr2 standby database from file system to ASM

    Hi,
    I have 11gR2 data guard setup of 2 node RAC primary and stand alone standby database.
    Primary RAC uses ASM, and stand alone standby DB uses normal file system for data files and archive logs. I want to migrate the stand alone standby DB from file system to ASM.
    If you have any ideas or documents on it, kindly please share with me.
    Thanks in advance,
    Mahipal

    Hi Fran,
    Thanks a lot for the quick reply. I have another question, I want to have standby in ASM; but ASM home is grid home(CRS+ASM) in 11gr2.
    I don't want to configure CRS now for standby, only want to have ASM storage. s it possible to install the grid home only for ASM and not for CRS?
    On a stand-alone system, there are still CRS/Grid components that are a part of the ASM install. You cannot NOT install it.

  • How to asmcmd cp non ASM files to ASM on a remote node

    We have a 8TB database, RDBMS 11,1. on Solaris 10, non ASM. Need to copy the 1290 files to remote node of AIX ASM to prepare for a upgrading to 11.2.0.2.
    We tried to use asmcmd cp to copy the files directly from non ASM too ASM remotely, but did not work.

    Thanks in advance

    1. my previous question is if asmcmd cp can accomplish the task.
    2. RMAN COPY, as I know, will either copy non asm files to ASM files locally, or copy files asm to asm across nodes. which means that we have to do two steps, rather copy the non asm files to a node of asm directly.

  • Converting single ASM to RAC ASM

    How i can convert single ASM to RAC ASM?

    ASM1 is the name of single and clustered names as ASM1 +ASM2, now what is suggestion? I can shutdown single instance ASM. If ASM Is up , it should not delet , right???

  • Single-Instance ASM to RAC ASM !!

    At the moment i am in process to create a RAC ASM instance on two nodes. When i was creating ASM instance it gave me error that unable to connect to crsd on Node2.
    So i manually added asm instance using srvctl on node2. It is registered with CRS but it is not online. I tried starting up by using crs_start or srvctl start asm but asm resource is down on both the nodes.
    I have started up manually both the ASM instance and created some Diskgroups, Now i have to create a RAC enabled DB for which it is showing convert single-instance ASM to RAC ASM.
    What needs to be done.

    Hi
    because the service ASM was added individually the crs stack is unable to recognise the clustering of ASM. In fact this has just made the ASM on two nodes function as two seperate ASM instances. They were never clustered. So i think convertion is one option. I came here while looking for one such doc. My 10.2.0.1 RAC install on windows 2003 went on a toss.. while dbca was trying to set up the clustered ASM and configure the instance, the primary node crashed and when it was recovered, i could notice the ASM instance is created on one node only.. When i try to invoke dbca again, neither am allowed to create an ASM instance for RAC/convert the existing one to RAC. Until now what I have found is that if such case arise, the quicker way is to revert everything back, clean up the server of clusterware and re install every thing... but before am looking for my options..
    does any body have an idea? please share
    sarat.

  • How do we clone a database from RAC/ASM to RAC/ASM?

    Is there a best practice or recommended recipe for cloning from a RAC/ASM instance to another RAC/ASM instance? We've done single instance cloning in the past with RMAN and it looks like grid control does something similar -- until we try to clone from one Exadata cluster to another. Surely this is now a common procedure...?
    much thanks,
    Gary

    Hi,
    I would not use cloning with 11.2. anymore.
    Though this will work (you have to take care of copying some more stuff though, like the gpnp profile), simply using the "addnode.sh" which works in silent mode in 11.2. is a lot easier.

  • Restore 9i database from tape to 10g ASM

    We have a plan to upgrade 9i database to 10g ASM. The current 9i database is using file systems on AIX5L. This is a VLDB of size >3TB. I want to restore production copy to test environment. There is no test environment for this database now. So, if I want to restore to test, we need 3TB for file systems and another 3TB for ASM disk groups for migration. Instead, Is there any way I can restore production Oracle 9i backup directly into Oracle 10g ASM disk groups. So that, we can save 3TB of space allocation for file systems. Also, it will save time instead restore 9i database to test, upgrade to 10g and then migrate to ASM.
    I agree that this is the space to be allocated temporarily. But, as per our company standards, the project needs to procure temporary space too.

    You cannot restore a 9i RMAN backup into 10G.
    You can use either export/import or transportable tablespace.
    You can use below method:
    1. Use transportable tablespace to migrate 9i to 10G.
    2. Initially migrate all datafiles to filesystem.
    3. Then migrate all datafiles to ASM.
    Apart from this , you have one more option . upgrade existing 9i database to 10G and the use RMAN to restore it to 10G ASM database.

  • How to copy DB files from UNIX filesystem to ASM in RMAN?

    Hi,
    I have a cold backup copied from a RAC ASM by using RMAN to UNIX filesystem. I made it like this:
    RMAN> run
    copy datafile 1 to '/backup/PDAMLPF2/offline/system.306.715096785';
    copy datafile 2 to '/backup/PDAMLPF2/offline/undotbs1.260.715096755';
    Now, I need to restore (or copy) this cold backup into another RAC ASM system to create a DB. How can I do the copy back?
    Thanks for advise!

    If you are using 11.1 or above you can use asmcmd cp command otherwise use dbms_file_transfer package. But keep in mind that since you are not using RMAN in any of those stages you will need to modify controlfile anyhow.

  • SAN replication from ASM to NON ASM

    Hi,
    We have a requirement:
    PROD Site: 2 RAC nodes on ASM with 11g Rel 2. ASM will be on SAN.
    Requirement: For DR Site: create non ASM single database on which SAN from PROD will be replicated. No Data Guard.
    Question: Can we do this? Will standalone DB will be able to read all the data files, as on DR Site non ASM DB will be created. What Oracle recommends? Becuase another solution is that we can create some cron tab job and it will aply archive log files after some interval o DR site database.
    Regards.

    You cannot do it with SAN replication, because SAN replication will give you exact replica of the LUN on storage level, so you will need ASM to read it.
    You can "simulate" data guard. Restore database backup on standalone database file system (you need to explicitly set the restore destination directory, otherwise rman will try to restore the database on ASM) and apply archivelogs on a schedule.

  • Creating Standby Database from ASM Databse none ASM

    I have ASM RAC database running on Solaris 10. I want to take a backup with RMAN and move the Backup to none ASM on other Stand alone server. I want to use this none ASM backup database to create Standby Database for Test purpose. Is it doable? If it is doable can you answer following questions?
    What command should I use with RMAN to take a full backup and move it to none ASM platform?
    Thank you

    Well, the answer is most likely yes, but first need to confirm
    - Do you want a physical or logical standby?
    - Will the standby run on the same platform , i.e. also Solaris 10?
    - What version of database ? It is much easier in 11g.
