Highlight one of the videos and press cmd+i (or right click and select "Get info") Click the dropdown menu and select quicktime (you might have to click "Other if you don't see it in the drop down, Then click "Change All" button below. I have an airport extreme and express setup. My extreme is in my 2nd floor office with windows facing the water. My dock is about 250 ft away down a very steep hill. I have the express about 100 ft down the hill in an electrical waterproof box attached to a tree as high as I could install. The signal is weak and I'm thinking I might have to buy another express. Any thoughts on the best setup for me. I ultimately want to control speakers(hard wired in) down at the dock with my iphone. I have a receiver coming with airplay built in.

You are asking several different questions. If you need to store your photos, music, and movies on an external volume, you certainly can. Any externally connected hard disk drive will work, connected either directly to your Mac or to your Time Capsule as a shared volume.
You should not rely upon using that as a backup device though. Although you certainly may use it for both purposes, it is a better idea to have dedicated backup devices for a variety of reasons not limited to redundancy. You would not want to simultaneously lose all your pictures as well as your backup. If they are all on the same device, that could happen. Furthermore, a backup cannot back up the volume on which it is running.
As for adding an Extreme or Express, using its LAN port for your iMac, and then enable Internet sharing so you can effectively use the iMac as a "hotspot", you can do that too, but I am unclear on what benefit you believe this arrangement would convey for you.
An Extreme's Guest network is separate from its Main network; that is the reason for having it.

Where did you seek help from? If your iMac is still under warranty and/or you have AppleCare, you can call Apple tech support. Since you have an iMac, a tech will come to your home to troubleshoot if it cannot be done over the phone.
I don't know my keychain password so cannot find my lost passwords.
Finder>Go>Utilities>Keychain Access.app. You do not need a password.

Well, one of my prayers was answered. My friend literally gave me his old iMac. It's the semi-spherical one with the "lampshade" flatscreen monitor. I feel like I've entered a new dimension. 800 MHz, 60 GB Hard Drive, 1 GB SDRAM, and Tiger. I can actually run two apps. at once

You will like Tiger, I have it on the 17" (am still learning all it can do, the wife and grandkids use it more then I do). This Panther and I are like two peas in a pod, we seem to know what the other will do before they do... a good OSX for what I do on the 15". Tiger still surprises me with what it can do (as did Panther at first), but I'm sure we will get to know each other with enough interaction. As you will too with Tiger... so, ENJOY yourself and have FUN!

Dear Mendel the option;
First, hold the mouse or trackpad while your Mac mini is starting. By doing this, you will force your Mac to eject the DVD.
If it doesn't work, hold Command and S keys while your computer is starting, and once OS X has started up, type:;; dosen't work because i use a wireless mouses o for any operation and command it should be first mouse working and for that porpose the mac should be completly open or started;in order to be aible to use the mouse.

Absolutely sure.. There is no connection at all.. reset is only the router side of the TC.
For the hard disk to be erased you need to access the airport utility disk page.. request erase and confirm the operation.

I am uncertain why if you have access you cannot change settings.. but that is why you reset things so any of those problems should be fixed.

I know this is a tech forumn but I just wanted to thank each and evey one of you. My system is working great now and I don't think I could have done it without the help of all you guys! Thanks. Exchanged the Corsair Memmory for Kingston Hyper X PC3500 and my system is running great. RAM now runs at 2-2-3-5 Burst mode 8 with Ultra-turbo! Everything is now running as it should! It took a new modem and new RAM but it works great! I thought maybe my borad was a lemon but everything is working great and blazing fast! Thank you guys so much!

Need Help A.S.A.P. - Thank you all

Hi everyone, I'm back with yet another question and sorry if I'm not too clear but I'll do my best. I had a videographer shot a 2 minute clip with the Canon XH A1. I've asked how he shot and he stated that he did not change any of the default settings. First question is does anyone know the default settings for the Canon A1? I've imported it as a 1080i60 with a frame rate of 29.97. Not sure if thats right but I gave it a shot. Second thing, he wants me to export him an anamorphic dv with a 720x480 and a 16x9 widescreen. He also mentioned something about if I can make it an apple dv (not sure what that means).
Can anyone help me out with this situation? How can I export using final cut studio 2 and compressor. Do I have to change the sequence options in my final cut studio 2 before I export? I have changed some of the sequence options as I need to so I can deal with HD footage so if you need to know more specifics, I can give you all the details to the best of my ability.

The "default settings" typically means the settings that were last used for that camcorder. Basically, it means that it could be anything. If you have access to the camera, turn it on and go through the menus to see what those settings were/are. Once you've found out how it was shot, you'll know how to capture. If you don't have access to the camera, chastise the camera operator severely until he blushes with embarrassment for being such a schmuck. Then tell him to provide you with the information that he should have supplied in the first place. Lastly, never, ever use that camera operator again.
