From Corona CA to Anchorage AK??

Just some comic relief in the saga of the 'waiting for the FedEx man to arrive'.....
Ordered on the 3rd at 12:01 a.m. Recieved confirmation for order processed within a couple of hours.
Recieved 'Your Order has Shipped' on the 4th at 2:47 p.m. FedEx tracking number provided for shipping from Ontario California (382 miles from my house). Expected delivery: February 7th by 3 p.m.
Order tracks to Oakland California and arrives on the 5th at 5:47 a.m. (getting closer.... 71 miles north of me and actually passes through my city).
No activity for two days... and then it shows shipped AGAIN, but this time from ANCHORAGE ALASKA!! (3,133 miles from Oakland, Ca.!!!)
So tell me, how does a package arrive in Oakland, California, and mysteriously show up in Anchorage, Alaska?
Oh, and FedEx can no longer tell me when the packages **may** arrive. I guess everyone was a little overwhelmed with this one.....!

FedEx has had some major issues with their tracking software in the last few days, but package delivery is proceeding normally.

Can't open iPhoto '09 from EHD TM

A similar question has been asked, but I can't find something that relates to my specific problem.
I had my computer (including iphoto) backed up on an external hard drive (EHD). My computer 'crashed' and I sent it to a repair shop in Anchorage-the Alaska Mac store (I DON'T recommend them, they were terrible!)
They got the computer working again, but only installed Leopard (when I had Snow Leopard) and iPhoto '08.
I tried to Restore my iPhoto from my EHD, but it wouldn't work at all.
So I installed Snow Leopard and updated (now at 10.6.6) and then purchased iLife 11
That application works just fine.
But I go again to my EHD to restore the iPhoto library I had before the crash. It 'restores' it, but when I try and open it it says:
iPhoto cannot be opened because of a problem
Check with the developer....etc.

Any ideas? Can I open that version in my new iPhoto 11 ? That's what I thought would happen, that it was just upgrade it.

How do I transfer an App store purchase from my MacBook to my iPad-WITHOUT an Internet connection?

I live on a boat in an anchorage. My iPad won't connect to the wifi in the anchorage; my MacBook Pro, with an external radio, will make the connection (sometimes). I want to purchase a couple of apps from the App Store and download them to my computer. I won't be able to connect the iPad to the Internet--ever--but I can of course connect it via USB to the MacBook Pro. Can I
- purchase the apps from the App store
- download the apps to my MacBook Pro
- disconnect the MacBook from the Internet (it costs about $1 per minute for my connection)
- sync the iPad to the MacBook
- transfer the newly purchased apps from the computer to the iPad
Just a reminder--I _can't_ connect the iPad, ever, to the Internet. The signal just won't reach that far. I don't want to take either the computer or the iPad on a (wet) dinghy ride to try to get close enough to the wifi hotspot for the iPad to connect (maybe). Both the iPad and the MacBook Pro are registered to the same ITunes account, but there isn't any way to connect the iPad to iTunes central for their servers to confirm this--only the MacBook Pro can be connected.
I also don't want to erase any info on the iPad--I have waypoints, navigation info, documents, etc., stored in various apps. Do I have to sync first to avoid losing this data? (Hope it's not cloudy tomorrow and those solar panels will be pulling some amps!)

PS--I have OS 10.6.8 and iTunes 11.0.1 on the MacBook; iOS 6.0.1 on the iPad.

Yes, you should be able to buy/download apps from the iTunes app store on your Mac and then sync them to the iPad - neither the iPad nor the Mac should need to be connected to the internet to sync the apps over to the iPad

Upgrade from 10.1.0.4 - 10.1.0.5 seems to break ArcIMS/ArcSDE

We were recently obliged to upgrade to 10.1.0.5 to address a replication bug, and doing this seems to have re-introduced a problem w/ ArcIMS/ArcSDE. The problem is w/ geodetic areas larger than 1/2 surface of earth, not all of the expected data are returned. Once you zoom in, all the data are correctly returned. The behaviour is identical to a problem that was fixed w/ the release of ArcIMS/ArcSDE 9.1.
Strange thing here though is that the only thing that changed w/ our system to reintroduce this problem was the upgrade to 10.1.0.5 - The ESRI software was not modified.
I realize that this is at least partially an ESRI problem, but given that the Oracle upgrade seems to have triggered the problem I was hoping that someone here could help me.

You are not supposed to have any geometries in SDO that are larger than 1/2 the surface of the earth. Exactly 1/2 is fine (I use two square polygons for ocean backdrop), but any more that is illegal. Here's why:
ESRI uses a planer (flat earth) data model. That is, everything is defined on a plane, even for geodetic, and then "unprojected" to do the math (using 16-bit integer coordinates). Blocky and crude, old school. Only 32k points in each direction to cover the entire planet. We have an application that actually uses geodetic coordinates, but needs a local boundary so that we can actually store some detail. Crazy!
Oracle SDO uses a "round" earth model for geodetic. It also stores coordinates using NUMBER as a "floating point" (not internally, but it works that way) with up to 38 digits to represent the value. Very precise, and we can store data for any place on the planet with high precision.
Thus the mismatch...
You also (the last time I tried it), cannot draw a single line from say, London to the pole, and then back down to Anchorage in the ESRI model, since it cannot be correctly mapped to a flat surface. However, this is perfectly valid for geodetic SDO geometries, which is nice, since planes might actually do this.
From the Spatial User Guide:
6.2.4 Other Considerations and Requirements with Geodetic Data
...The following size limits apply with geodetic data:
■ No polygon element can have an area larger than one-half the surface of the Earth.
In a line, the distance between two adjacent coordinates cannot be greater than or
equal to one-half the perimeter (a great circle) of the Earth.

Email notification from workflow?

Dear all,
I am using EBS version is 11.5.8 and database version is 9.2.0.3. We are using workflow to send out email notification once the PO gets approve.
Now, we are going to change SMTPServerName(email server IP) let say from '123.45.66.10' to '999.88.77.66'. What can I change workflow setting so that the email notification will no longer send to the old email server IP, email should be sent to the new email server.
I have try to read lots of document in metalink and it is not working.
Does anyone encounter this before?

Upgrading 8330 Curve Software to 4.5 from Verizon

Recently I upgraded my 8330 Curve with the new 4.5 software.
Afterwards, pictures and Media do not appear in emails or in the browser without having to
hit the menu key and click on "Display Images".
I spoke with Verizon Tech Services for 2 hours and tried everything they had to offer.
After Backing up the unit and Synchronizing we wiped the phone clean and reloaded the 4.5
software.
The same problem still exists and Verizon had no further solutions.
Is there a fix for this or should I dare get a Corona and skip this thing across Megans Bay.

1. This is something I do every Sunday. If I don't the browser becomes bogged down and won't open web pages.
    A. Got to Options, Advanced Options, Host Routing Table, Click Menu, Register Now.
    B. After Registration has been sent and received, I remove the battery (while the divice is on) wait a few minutes. Replace the battery and
        allow the device to reboot.
    C. dial *228 and allow Verizon to re-program the phone. This is always succesful.

3. Synchronize with BB Desktop Manager.
4. Upgrade Desktop Manager to v4.7
5. Upload "New" Device Software 4.5.0.77 (Platform 3.2.0.51)
6. Wipe phone clean.
7. Upload new 4.5 software to phone.
8. Synchronize Phone.
9. Go to "Options", "Screen/Keyboard, set Font size and style.
10. Go to "Options", Security, General Settings, Enable Content Compression.
11. Go to "Options", Advanced, Browser Push, Enable Push, Enable MDS and WAP. Auto selected on all others.
12. Send emails to self from Desktop Computer. and Repeat Step 1.
I think thats it.

IPad 2 departed from Chengdu, China twice?

I ordered my iPad 2 on June 11, 2011. I received my tracking information on Monday June 20, 2011. It's made its way all the way to Chengdu, China, but for whatever reason my tracking information says it departed from there twice. Why would it depart, then go back only to have to depart again. Can someone tell me why it's taking so long and why it departed twice? Though I'm sure it will get here, at least by friday .

Same time and everything; the likelyhood is that it will be here friday. I am pretty sure it will be in anchorage before we wake up tomorrow and someone where closer to us later tomorrow and it will be here by friday in the morning all UPS deliveries always deliver in the morning

I checked the fed ex tracking on my iPod touch order and it's showing that it was flown from China to Alaska. Is that right? Seems odd to me that they would package an invidual iPod for international shipment...

I ordered an Apple USB Power Adapter from the on-line store and they too shipped it as a single item all the way from China - to HK - to Anchorage, AL - to Newark, NJ - to Ontario, Canada where I live - all for $6. I've been working on a Keynote Presentation for some time now.
Once I added the iCloud.
The system kep going into Storage Mode every 3-4 click on the keyboard or mouse.
So I decided to shut the iCloud down from my computer.

The system stated 'IF I did..... Everything loaded into theiCloud would be removed from my computer
(MacBook Pro).
So soon after (I obviously didn't disconnect the iCloud, can't afford to losse 'who knows what')
So soon after I went into my iPhone to turn it off as well...
There I received the message/question "Do you want items left on your iPhone?"
Huh!     I didn't even receive that option on the Mac.

How many days did it take to get MB from Apple Online

so im planning to buy a white mb from apple online store, it says 5-7 days to deliver, but i have read some users to wait up to 14 days to get a MB delivered.
How many days did it take since you placed the order, and got your MB delivered?

went into the Apple store to actually look at the
MacBook three hours later when the Apple store
opened. The salesmen (several of them) told me then
it would take about a week before delivery while my
order statement said two weeks.
The machine came Federal Express (I didn't order
special shipping) from China within 5 working days.
It has run perfectly from the day I got it.
Good to hear that you are having no problems, Tim. I CTOd the same configuration (Black/120GB/2GB) last Tues and it will arrive tomorrow or Tues (shipped from China late Thurs and was in L.A .. via Anchorage and Indianapolis .. by Sat morning).
I'll dual-boot it so I can travel without this iBook plus a WinXP machine: One MacBook will be more workable.

Let me try to rephrase my question...the only way my G4 will start is in safe boot; it will not start OSX from my regular account, only from a second account I created some time ago. Can anyone help at all?

Hey man--thanks for responding. You know what--I wound up reinstalling OS X, and it solved the problem. Not sure at this point what was going on, but the PB runs like new again. FYI--I also trashed a music sharing software that, well, we won't name names but it starts with a well-known member of the citrus family...we sometimes put them into our Coronas...anyway, this software had embedded itself deeply into my computer. I HAD noticed that this sharing software ran differently than anything else; left on it's own, it would just run and run all the time; and it was time consuming to quit the application entirely. Took awhile to get it out of the computer; without spotlight, I could not have done it. Anyway, all's well that ends well.
