From Dreamweaver 3.0 to CS 3 Web Standard
Hi All,
I hope that you can help me!
I have Dreamweaver 3.0 (full version, not an upgrade) and bought CS Web Standard Edition Upgrade (includes: Dreamweaver CS 3, Flash CS3, Fireworks CS3 Contribute CS3).
I'm tryin to install this upgrade and it takes me to "Upgrade Check". On upgrade check it says to select the software that I own, but the problem is I don't own any of the listed softwares.
What can I do to install it?
Here are the listed softwares:
Dreamweaver MX
Dreamweaver MX 2004
Dreamweaver CS3
Flash MX Profesional 2004
Flash Profesional 8
Flash CS3 Profesional
Flash MX
Flash MX 2004
Flash Basic 8
Thanks for your help,
Alex
I also have Macromedia Studio MX, which includes Dreamweaver MX and Flash MX.
OK, new information.
I'm still having problems....
Can you tell us more? The more specific detail you offer. the more help and suggestions you will get.
Are you trying to upgrade from Studio MX to CS3 Web Standard? or something else?
If Studio MX is correctly installed with a valid serial number then there's nothing to prevent you from upgrading to the CS3 Web Standard suite.

Need details on how to move existing website to Dreamweaver CS6 and to Business Catalyst web hosting
Hi All,
I need assistance with transferring an existing website - imagessays.com - (designed with Dreamweaver CS4) to my Creative Cloud CS6 account - and to web hosting by CS6 Business Catalyst.
… step-by-step instructions would be most useful. I've got the Dreamweaver CS6 onDemand book, etc., ... I guess I’m just not enough of a geek to work my way through the steps and to get my site back moving ahead online.
Beyond that, need advice as to how to repair a couple of non-funcitonal links on the site (check out imagessays.com to see a couple of pics that don't work). I'm looking forward to uploading more content and to do major upgrade to the site, but am unable to do so ... need technical support re how to do these simple (should be) things.
Since setting up the website over 5 years ago, I have migrated from Dreamweaver CS3 to CS4 .... and now to CS6 ... and from a Dell XPS 450 running Windows XP to a Mac Pro desktop running Mac OS X.
These changes of version / machine / OS have separated me from the ability to do the one simple thing that I need to do with this straightforward website, that is: upload new pitchers and writins .
I look forward to assistance and support for this.
Thanks,

Layout Looks Different from Dreamweaver to Email?
I am currently using Adobe Dreamweaver CS5 to create emails for my work. Last month I started having an issue where the 3 columns I have in the template would look even in Dreamweaver, but when I sent a test email to myself they looked completely off. This past week I have encountered another issue where the cellpadding of the email looks different from Dreamweaver to email. I am new to HTML and coding so it could just be me, but is anyone having a similar problem and if so, is there a way to fix it?
Nancy-O posted this recently. You might find it helpful.

Using files from dreamweaver 8 in CS5 - not working
Hi All
I made 2 websites a few years ago in Dreamweaver 8. We now have windows 7 at work so we are trialling CS5.
Basically, i open up our web files (which were made in Dreamweaver 8) in CS5 and the site ios not being very friendly at all. It is almost like it doesn't recognise the codes and formats properly.
And to change one line of text - i select and change colour - it changes the whole 3 paragraphs.
Is Dreamweaver 8 files compatible with CS5.
Need help
one website is www.progressivegroup.com.au
in the old version i could simply make changes with out any bit of hassel, in the new one i can barely do anything with out it going crazy on me!!
ThanksThank you for your help.
Are the code errors from Dreamweaver 8?
I am not the best with this sort of thing.
How do i fix the errors so i can use the web siles in CS5?
also, how do i validate the code?
Thanks again -

When you export the sliced graphics from Fireworks it places
them into a
table. In my instance the code says...
<!-- fwtable fwsrc="Brands.png" fwpage="Page 1"
fwbase="Brands.jpg"
fwstyle="Dreamweaver" fwdocid = "325827661" fwnested="0"
-->
So it recognises Fireworks was the the graphics app and jumps
back to it
when you want to edit the image. Fireworks then displays (or
should) a
Done¹ button over the window. You do your alts and
press Done to update the
HTML and graphics back in Dreamweaver automatically.
That¹s the only table I was referring to Murray.

Can anyone help please as I have purchased CS6 now and have sites that I need to administer, I have uninstalled cs 5.5 which worked fine. There is no need to install the Business Catalyst extension in Dreamweaver CS6. Business Catalyst is incorporated into the program.

Swf won't loop from Dreamweaver
I created a swf in Flash but from Dreamweaver I can't get it
to loop in my browser or the web.
I have put a check in the loop box on Flash an Dreamweaver
and no luck
Anyone able to help me please? One thing to do first is to confirm whether ior not the file is loading. It is possible it is loading but needs something to kick it off, or it is trying to load something itself, like a data file or some content, and has an error trying to load it due to a possible path problem now that the file is being placed in a different home.
Does the large file load any files? What is the location of that file relative to the file preloader? -
Upgrade from Cs4 Web standard to CS5 - only premium available?
I have for the moment CS4 Web Standard software package from Adobe.
But I noticed that there is no upgrade to CS5 Web Standard. It seems there is only a Web Premium.
May we expect that there will be a Standard upgrade also?
Kind regards
MartineJohn,
That is not good news. My CS4 Web Standard is also a Student Version. I'm no longer a student.
So can I still upgrade by purchasing the Premium Upgrade.
Or is there a possibility that I can upgrade the Dreamweaver component?
Or is it also possible to install only Dreamweaver CS5 next to my CS4 package?
Thanks for assisting me
Kind regards

Cannot connect to an Access database from DreamWeaver
Hello.
I'm creating my first web page with a DB connection.
I have a minimal DB with a simple table.
This is a DB as Access create it by default, with no password
and no
security constraints.
In DreamWeaver, I have created a default DB connection string
for Access
2000.
I have removed, from this connection string, the UserID and
the Password as
there is no password for my DB.
I have put the right path for this DB.
But it doesn't work!
I receive the message: (sorry for my bad english) cannot open
the DB, it is
already open by another user (it is not the case: the DB is
closed) or you
must have autorisation to visualised the data.
Do you have an idea ?

I'm not an expert in file permissions so I have simply moved
my DB on the
HDD of my PC, before it was on another server.
So, now, I think I have no file permission problem anymore.
I can connect the DB from DreamWeaver but I cannot see the
tables !
If I open the Tables node of the db tree in the Database
window of
DreamWeaver, I receive the message:
"Error calling GetTables".
Do you have an idea or an advice ?
Thanks in advance,
Alain. -
Server 10.4.6 rejects Webdav access from GoLive, but not from Dreamweaver
I have two web server Macs, running 10.3.9 and 10.4.6.
The 10.3.9 has no problem accepting connections from GoLive CS 8.0 (tryout version).
The 10.4.6 server will NOT let GoLive CS 8.0 (tryout version) connect to it. GoLive reports "cannot connect to http" THEN displays the underlying webdav error: "connection closed when expecting more data"
BTW BOTH servers accept Webdav connections from Dreamweaver, Transmit, various PC apps, etc. Only GoLive is being rejected.
Does anyone know why the the latest OS X Server would dislike GoLive so intensely?
Thanks in advance!Unfortunately, I don't have further advice based on your answer. I was only suggesting it as an area to check for inconsistency.
My understanding though, is that Basic authentication is best to be used for authenticating browsers for reading pages behind protected realms, and Digest was best suited for read/write WebDAV clients, although I can't now find the source of that info.
Perhaps test with Digest? -
Weird boxes in code view from Dreamweaver 8 to Dreamweaver MX
I have Dreamweaver 8 and my coworker has Dreamweaver MX. I
have an XML document save from Dreamweaver 8. When the document is
opened in Dreamweaver MX, there are alot of little boxes thrown in
throughout the code. For example commented code has a box after
each letter and each new line of code has a box at the start.
Here's an example of what I mean. (I will use "O " instead of
a box, because I don't know how to insert a box)
Dreamweaver 8:
<!-- Hello this is my code-->
Dreamweaver MX:
O<O!O-O-OHOeOlOloO OtOhOiOsO OiOsO OmOyO OcOoOdOeO
O-O-O>
As you can see this make the code virtually unreadable.
Does anyone know a way around this issue?
ThanksI figured it out myself. For anyone else that encounters this
problem the solution is to. Open the document in WordPad and then
save it as a "text document". Then reopen it in Dreamweaver MX and
the little boxes are gone. -
Copy file from client PC to server in a web deployed application
I have developed one application using Oracle forms 6i, which is deployed on the web server.
I run this application from a client PC in Internet Explorer using internet.
I want to copy one file from the client PC to the web server.
I have done following things
- Created a shared folder on the server and given full rights to every one on this folder
- I use 'net use' command in my program to connect to this shared folder
- I use copy command to copy file from local client pc to server. This copy command I am executing using host command of my programming (PL/SQL: eg. host('copy abc.txt \\server\share\') )
But this does not work.
When I do the same thing in command window, it works.
(ie. Start-Run cmd to open command window and then type the above copy command)
Can you please tell me, how to copy a file from client PC to the sever in Web deployed application?
ThanksI downloaded D2KWUtil from the link suggested by you. It has very nice example demo form. But the documentation provided says following
Using D2KWUTIL in Web Deployed Applications
The use of this library is not supported with Web deployed applications.
In a web deployment scenario not all functions within D2KWUTIL will work. Any function that interacts with the User Interface (such as those in the WIN_API_DIALOG package) will fail.
Any interaction with the O/S by other functions will all be executed on the NT server and will act within, or return information pertinant to, the environment on that machine. For instance GET_COMPUTER_NAME will return the Server’s name, not the name of the computer that the Client browser is running on. Likewise COPY_FILE will copy files in the Forms Server not on the Client.
Functions such as those in WIN_API_BITOP will continue to work without change.
so this will not work in web deployed application.
Any other suggestion?
Thanks -
Problems upgrading from Dreamweaver 4 to CS3
The website I manage is www.episcopal-dallas.org. Today, I
upgraded from Dreamweaver 4 to CS3. In Design view, I can edit
about half of the pages, but those of the other half (including the
index/home page) have gray backgrounds (with a few exceptions that
have white), and, although I can make changes in the code, I cannot
edit them in Design view. The cursor forms the universal "nicht"
sign — circle with a diagonal slash through it. I can't find
any commonality between the ones that I can edit and the ones I
can't.
Also, on some of the pages, the navigation panel that is
supposed to be on the left side has ended up above the text of the
main body of the page. Manuals I have say nothing about upgrading
existing websites.> Apparently, DW4 didn't make
> the pages conform to the templates
Of course it does.

You should never have to do this.
I hope your understanding of this doesn't cause further
problems for you.

Firefox 3 displays the php code when pages launched from dreamweaver 8
The problem seems to relate to files opening as —
file:///C:/localweb/ .... when sent from Dreamweaver 8.0 to Firefox
The first html/php page loads correctly from dreamweaver as
processed HTML, a second page linked from either an HTML or php
page also loads correctly, but selecting any link from that or
subsequent pages displays the full php code instead of processed
html layout - so this appears to be a third level or greater
problem.
If I manually substitute -
http://localhost/ — the problem
does not arise.
This is a problem with version 3 of firefox, all previous
versions I used worked fine with both — file:///C:/localweb/
and
http://localhost/
Both prefixes also appear with pure HTML sites, but they load
and function correctly.
Not every php site I have loads with file:///C:/localweb/, so
I am wondering if this relates to something in the php code or
Dreamweaver - I have conn.php set to:
mysql_connect("localhost", "root", "") or die(mysql_error());
I use winxp and have xampp installed - everything worked fine
until I installed Firefox 3> but selecting any link from that or subsequent pages
You are being confused by a) not understanding root relative
vs document
relative links, and b) not understanding how DW previews
files.
If I have a document with a link to an image that looks like
this -
<img src="/images/foo.gif"...
That's what's called a root relative link.
If I preview that document in DW, then the browser gets the
document, sees
the leading "/" and reads that as the root of the hard drive,
since the
browser has no idea where the root of the site is. Thus, the
image is
broken in the preview.
If I have temp files enabled, then DW will secretly convert
the file being
previewed into a temporary file, and hand that to the
browser. This temp
file has had all root relative links converted to document
relative links
(as you will see by looking at the code in the browser), and
has had all
include files actually embedded in the page, and has had all
external CSS
and js markup embedded in the page. In other words, DW has
made the
document into a stand-alone page.
If you do not have temp files enabled, all of these links
would be broken on
preview.
Now - if you are using root relative links, AND you have temp
files enabled,
AND you click away from the previewed document, then all of
your links will
be broken, since DW has not made that linked file into a temp
file. This is
what you are seeing.
So - if you want to click away on preview, then you must use
document
relative links for the site -
<img src="../images/foo.gif"... (for example)
These will still work on preview since the browser knows how
to determine
the current file's location and how to follow that path.
Make sense?
