From Green to orange in 4 seconds flat

Hi, so I have a MacBook 13" Platinum/Silver 2008 model...my adapter was totally twisted and fried...it would not give me a green light so I went to buy another one...they said that my original adapter is not in stock...would have to order it in...turns out one of the sales associates said the new MagSafe Power Adapters are compatible with MacBooks...okay now it turns from green light to orange...what does that mean?...Thank you ahead of time...

Welcome to Apple Discussions!
All the amber light means is that it is charging or the battery is not connected. Green means it is fully charged. It is entirely within the realm of possibility that the machine might use more charge from battery than is being given to the battery to recharge at any given time.
The source for the color info is here:
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/MagSafe
I would look at Apple's article on batteries too:
http://www.apple.com/batteries/
to ensure it has a long life.

  • Why does the light on my battery charger change from green to orange after a few seconds?

Why does the light on my battery charger cable change from green to orange?  The battery continues to accept a charge when light turns orange.

    Green = not charging.
    Orange = charging.
Note that if your laptop is pulling enough power (using CPU and GPU heavily) the light will turn green because the power adapter cannot provide enough power to charge your batteries in addition to keeping the system going.
In fact, you can drain your batteries even with the adapter plugged in with the 17 inch Macbook Pro if you push it hard enough, although I have not noticed this problem with my Retina Macbook Pro.

  • Green and Orange Flashing lights - ipod still wont work after Reset Utility

I bought my daughter an ipod shuffle 1st gen last year. It stopped working, did everything I was suppose to do, sent it back to Apple, they sent me a new one. Now the stupid thing is flashing green and orange lights at me! I've tried restoring it with Reset Utility, but they are still blinking at me. This is supposed to be a newly refurbished ipod, I only recieved it today, so by rights it should be working...am I doing something wrong? It is charging, it is recognised in my computer but not in itunes. What is going on? Can anybody help...this is so frustrating.

Hold on... Alternating green and orange for 2 seconds means there's no playable music on it. Alternating green and TWO orange for 10 seconds means that it has to be restored. WHICH light pattern are you referring to?
What do you mean it's not recognised in iTunes? Does it NOT show up in the left most (Sources) panel?

  • Is anyone else having troubles with the power adaptors going from green charge light to amber?

I have had to replace my power adaptor once before as there appeared to be a broken wire inside ..the replacement had been working fine but just recently noticed the light changing from green to amber within seconds of being connected

The light changes from green to amber whenever the System Management controller determines that the battery needs charging. The light is green, indicating a fully-charged battery, until it is determined that the battery is less than 94% charged. That determination can take a few seconds after the adapter is connected. If the charge level is found to be below 94%, charging begins, and the light turns orange (amber) to indicate that charging is taking place. None of this signifies a problem of any kind.

  • Long Green, short Green, three Orange Blinks

This is a huge problem for me ... Shuffle Morse CODE! ... The shuffle is charged. I properly remove it from the USB port (it has also just been updated with the most recent updater). I turn on the shuffle and I get no music, nothing plays, no response and the buttons appear to be on hold.
NOTE: This is not a situation where the green and orange lights flash alternately.
When I turn on the shuffle I get the following lights on the front panel:
one long green light followed immediately by a short fast green blink ... then ...
three fast orange blinks (three blinks as if the shuffle had been put on hold).
When I hold the play/pause button for three seconds, it doesn't help the problem or make it play again. ALSO, the lights do not respond to further button pushing...
Any thougths about the cause or the cure???

  • Playbook charges from 0% to 100% in few seconds

Its difficult to get my Playbook to start charging in the first place, the red charging light comes on for about 10seconds, goes off and then back on again. When the Playbook eventually starts to charge it goes from 0% to 100% in few seconds showing the full green. When I power it with the charger on, all the functions work, but battery level just fluctuates between 0 and 100% without really charging. On removing the charging cable, the tablet goes off completely. Any suggestions on how to solve this please?

It sounds like the battery is worn out and needs to be replaced. That's not an easy task.

  • Plug in Seagate USB drive and status goes from green to yellow

This is somewhat different from what others have posted.
When I plug in or turn on my Seagate 160 gig drive on the base station USB, the status light switches to yellow and no more wireless. The disk works when direct connected to the iMac. Epson printer works fine in the base station USB.
    Anybody have these symptoms?
    Rick

It is formatted FAT32 and works fine on my PC (I recently jumped ship to Mac) and connected to the iMac.
I don't understand your final comment. Once the disk goes 'ready', the wireless is down and I can no longer access the base station. If I turn the Seagate off, the light goes green again in about 5 seconds.
To anticipate: no, I have not yet attempted to 'talk' to the base via hard wired ethernet. That is, I have not seen any error text.

What is the difference with these Green and Orange slots
The key word is "Dual Channel".  The memory controller has two channels with two memory slots each.  If the memory modules are supposed to operate in Dual Channel mode, they have to be inserted in different channels, otherwise they would both be in the same channel (running in Single Channel mode).
To make it easier for users to know which memory slot belongs to which channel, the slots have different colors.  The slots of the first channel are Green and the slots of the second channel are Orange.  Consequently, if you want your memory to operate in Dual Channel mode, one has to be in a Green Slot and the other one in an Orange Slot (ergo: 1&3 or 2&4).

According to this article, that means the Shuffle's buttons are disabled.

  • Mag Safe LED Blinks From Green to Amber

I have a MBP bought in March 2007. I recently have been having a problem with the Mag Safe adapter. When the battery is about fully charged the LED on the Mag Safe connector starts to blink from green to amber. The blinking is rather constant, about 2 seconds a part. When I have the battery icon from the menu bar highlighted it shows "Calculating time..." and the LED is amber, and then quickly changes to "Battery is charged" and the LED turns green.
It seems that the computer doesn't know when to switch from battery to AC power when the battery is fully charged and connected to a power adapter.
I don't have an extra power adapter to try this on, as well as I don't have an extra battery. The Mag Safe connector at the MBP is perfectly fine, there is no fraying or anything like that. The wire does mostly stay wrapped around the power adapter hooks, so I am also thinking that it might be something wrong with the adapter itself, that the wires might be worn.
Thanks for any help that you can give me.

I have an issue somewhat similar to this - the battery indicator switches between claiming that it's charging and full, with the Magsafe adapter's light changing along with it. In my case it wasn't as regular as yours, but occurred while charging.
I tried calibrating the battery (instructions are here: http://docs.info.apple.com/article.html?path=Mac/10.4/en/mh2339.html ) but it doesn't seem to have had an affect. Worse, the system had shut off when the battery got low (~12% power remaining) twice now, although there was one time between those two when it went down to 5% and I shut it down myself. I have 89 cycles on the year-old battery and iStat pro claims that its health is at 39%. To add to the mix, last night I watched a 26-minute movie which ate up 20% of the battery (this is about normal), and then I watched a second one that dropped the battery by a bit under 60%. I'm guessing that the battery has some dead cells. I have extended Applecare coverage, but have heard that it doesn't apply to batteries. Regardless, people have linked to pages showing that Apple will replace batteries if they're in a poor state and under 300 cycles. I'll head to an Apple store some time in the near future and see what the consensus is.
Long story short, my battery is probably failing, and the light changing behavior started around the time that I began to suspect that. It may be indicative of a dying battery on your end, as well.

To resolve this, you need to reconfigure the "Oracle Application Testing Suite Helper Service" (OATSHelperSvr) to start as a user who has privledges to run open script tests rather than the default SYSTEM user.
    Reconfiguring the OATSHelperSvr Service:
    1. Open the services panel (Start > Run > services.msc)
    2. Find the Oracle Application Testing Suite Helper Service
    3. Right Click > Properties then select the Log On Tab
    4. Specify an interactive user that has rights to run OpenScript (test by logging in as that user and running tests):
    5. Click OK
    6. Restart the service after dialogs are closed by Right Click > Restart
    7. You should now repeat this process for the "Oracle Application Testing Suite Agent Service" (eLoadAgentMon) Service (Two services in
    total)
You should now retry running the test in Oracle Test Manager
