From I-Pod to CD

I'd like to transfer some of my songs from I-Tunes and/or the Pod onto a CD I can play on my stereo or in my car. I make the back-up CDs from I-Tunes every now and then but they don't play except on the computer. PS: No, I do not want to buy any more stereo equipment with the I-Pod plug ins. I just would like a couple complilation CDs for quiet times, loving times etc. played on existing equipment. Any ideas? Thanks

Burn your music as an audio cd (not as a data cd) and it should be playable on any commercially available cd player.

Your i-device was not designed for unique storage of your media. It is not a backup device and media transfer was designed for you maintaining a master copy of your media on a computer which is itself properly backed up against loss. Syncing is one way, computer to device, updating the device content to the content on the computer, not updating or restoring content on a computer. The exception is iTunes Store purchased content.
iTunes Store: Transferring purchases from your iOS device or iPod to a computer - http://support.apple.com/kb/HT1848 - only media purchased from iTunes Store
For transferring other items from an i-device to a computer you will have to use third party commercial software. Examples (check the web for others; this is not an exhaustive listing, nor do I have any idea if they are any good):

  • How 2 transfer stuff from i-pod without data in ur itunes library?

i have try b4 but i seem like my new ipod stuff had all gone after i sync it.. i'm curious 2 know how 2 transfer the stuff from i-pod 2 computer when your i-tunes library doesn't have the data from the i-pod....

If your iPod is set to update automatically you need to take care connecting to an empty iTunes. You can use a keyboard command to prevent your iPod auto-syncing with iTunes. While connecting the iPod to the computer on Windows with iTunes 7 installed hold down the Control and Alt keys (or Shift + Ctrl keys in older versions). This will stop the iPod from auto-syncing with iTunes and the iPod will appear in the source list. Wait until you are sure the iPod has mounted, and that it will not auto sync and then you can let the keys go. This may take between 20 to 30 seconds depending on your computer: iTunes 7 Keyboard Shortcuts for Windows
Your iPod should appear in the iTunes source list from where you can change the update setting to manual and use your iPod without the risk of accidentally erasing it. Also when using most of the utilities listed below your iPod needs to be enabled for disc use, changing to manual update will do this by default. Check the "manually manage music and videos" box in Summary then press the Apply button: Managing content manually on iPod
Once you are safely connected there are a few things you can do to restore your iTunes from the iPod. If you have any iTMS purchases the transfer of purchased content from the iPod to authorised computers was introduced with iTunes 7. A paragraph on it has been added to this article: Transfer iTunes Store purchases using iPod
The transfer of non iTMS content such as songs imported from CD is designed by default to be one way from iTunes to iPod. However there is a manual method of accessing the iPod's hard drive and copying songs back to iTunes on Windows. The procedure is a bit involved also it was written long before iTunes 7 so it requires a little adaptation as the iPod preferences are no longer in the location described. Also it won't transfer playlists or videos as far as I know. However if you're interested it's posted in this thread: MacMuse - iPod to iTunes
If you prefer something more automated then there are a number of third party utilities that you can use to retrieve the music files and playlists from your iPod. You'll find that they have varying degrees of functionality and some will transfer movies, videos, photos, podcasts and games as well. Have a look at the web pages and documentation, this is just a small selection of what's available, they are generally quite straightforward. You can also read reviews of some of them here: Wired News - Rescue Your Stranded Tunes
    TuneJack Windows Only
    iPod2PC Windows Only
    iGadget Windows Only
    iDump Windows Only
    YamiPod Mac and Windows Versions
    Music Rescue Mac & Windows
    iPodCopy Mac and Windows Versions
Whichever of these retrieval methods you choose, keep your iPod in manual mode until you have reloaded your iTunes and you are happy with your playlists etc then it will be safe to return it auto-sync. I would also advise that you get yourself an external hard drive and back your stuff up in case you have problems again. Relying on an iPod as your sole backup is not a good idea and external drives are comparatively inexpensive these days you can get loads of storage for a reasonable outlay.

  • Send POST data from custom POD to PHP server

    Hi all,
I tried to send data from custom POD to PHP server with POST method. I used HTTPService component and URLLoader, but nothing happend. All attempts failed, HTTPService return "fault" and URLLoader return "0" that means I can't send data to the server.
I'm googling around during few hours... please give me some advice, how I can send data from custom POD to PHP server.
    Thanks

A bit tricky but it works fine, now I can send and retrive data from PHP server.
Add .htacces file in folder where deployed PHP request handler and modify it, see below:

  • PC (Windows) died - can I transfer tunes from I-pod mini to new PC?

Checked FAQs etc to see if possible to transfer tunes from I-pod mini to new Windows XP PC but can't see anything useful. Old PC crashed and I-tunes went with it, no chance of retrieving Library. Can it be done?
    TIA
    Junoesc
    I pod mini   Windows XP

Before you try 3rd party software, try this.
Open iTunes and select edit/preferences/advanced/general. Put a check mark in the box marked "copy files to iTunes music folder when adding to library" and also "keep iTunes music folder organized", then click 'ok'.
Connect the iPod whilst holding down the shift/ctrl keys to prevent any auto sync, and if you see the dialogue window asking if you want to sync to this itunes library, click 'no'.
Then go to file/add folder, open 'my computer', select your iPod and click 'ok'.
The music files should transfer to your iTunes.
If this doesn't work (and it may not because officially it's not supposed to), then the Yamipod program previously mentioned is good, and it's free.

I amtrying to delete books from my i pod nano. A list of devices is supposed to be on left side of screen, it is not.?

    Hello Pokeweed
Depending on what view you have on is where your iPod nano will show up. If it is the new view, then it will be in the right hand corner next the iTunes Store button. If you have the sidebar enabled then it will be where you would expect it. If it is in neither spot, then check out the article below to get it to show up on your computer.

My Brother did something to my computer and just decided to reinstall Windows and was not smart enough to back everything up. So now I'm slowly putting things back on. I started first with my I-Pod and now I have a hugh issue.... How do I get the songs from my I-Pod in I-Tunes? I've been able to sync my purchased music just fine but I want my other 1000 songs also.

  • Transfering music from I Pod to PC

Hi Everyone!  Hoping I can get some help, here is what happened:
I had a lap top and just got a new computer.  I thought all my songs were saved in the cloud or my i tunes account.  I logged into my i tunes in my new computer and it only had the purchased songs.  It wouldn't even let me transfer them.  The only way I found out I could (probably the wrong way, i'm not great with this stuff) was by deleting everything on my I Pod and syncing it from my new computer with all my purchases.  I was then going to go back to my old lap top and sync all my other songs there that I ripped from CDs.  Now my lap top only has my purchased songs too!  How can I fix this?

  • Music from i-pod to computer???

Is there any way music from my i-pod can be moved onto my computer? I got a lot of music from friends computers while overseas and now need to save those songs on a computer before sending it in for repairs...how!?!?!

  • Transfer just one item from I-pod to computer

I have some movies on an I-pod that I seem to have lost from my computer hard drive after transferring my entire collection to a newer external hard drive (they were I-tunes purchases). I would like to move just one or two items from my I-Pod to the computer, not all my purchased items. When I do "transfer purchase items" it seems to begin moving everything. Is there a way to only upload one item at a time? It doesn't have to go my my libary if that makes a difference--I can always do that afterward.
    Thanks for any ideas,
    Larry

  • Issue with passing param's from ME POD to MII.

I have an interesting issue.   I have a customer with POD screen in ME that has a command button to open an MII screen.   The POD screen has the workstation ID in the URL.  The MII screen needs that workstation id.    Normally I would use window.opener.location.href in javascript but Iu2019m getting a "permission denied" from IE.   So IE thinks this is a cross domain call.  Although the POD and MII pages are on different machines, they are on the same domain.
    POD url example:  (parent page)
    http://MEmachine.mydomain.com:52600/manufacturing/com/sapdev/jsp/activity/pod/PODMain.jsp?WORKSTATION=TEST_POD&OPERATION=WA_123_L&RESOURCE=WA_123_L&ACTIVITY_ID=STATION1
    MII url example: (pop up)
    http://MIImachine.mydomain.com:55500/XMII/CM/Scrap/ScrapApplet.irpt?service=Personalization&j_user=MyUser&j_password=Mypassword
My suspicion is that although the two machines are on the same domain, the fact that they are on different ports is causing IE to think itu2019s a cross domain scripting call and forbidding it.
The obvious workround would be to just send the workstation name as part of the opening url call, however Iu2019m not sure if the customer will be able to do that for each workstation.
    Thoughts?

Below is an example of passing All(NULL), Single and Multi values using Oracle DB (I think you are on Teradata, so use equivalent syntax)
where (columnxxx in (:parameter) or least(:parameter) is null)
    Here:
columnxxx in (:parameter) will take care passing single and multi-select
least(:parameter) is null will take care when ALL is selected (assuming you have chosen "Pass NULL" for ALL)

  • Getting CD Art Covers and Managing Genre Titles from 1 Pod to Another

I just bought a 160-gig Pod. I have an 80-gig Pod with 20,000 songs on it and want to place those songs on my new Pod.
I have an external hard drive which contains all of my music folders and I am thinking of adding the songs to the new Pod (the process will take almost 3 days because my computer is just 500 MhZ and had limited memory and hard drive space, ergo the need to save the songs externally raher than in the i-Tunes library). But that can and would be done.
Here is my "dilemma:" Due to ignorance on my part the first year or so when I first began saving files/folders to this external drive in 2003, such things as CD art covers and the misplacement of genre titles are either missing or mismanaged on roughly 4,000 songs.
This might not be an issue with many folks, but for me, I am so anal that I want every song on the 160 Pod to look/sound as it does on my 80 (For anyone's information, I needed about 4-5 weeks to properly edit/prune the issues above when I initially transferred the songs on my hard drive last year to my 80-gig Pod last year--previously I had had a 60-gig Pod).
I have thought about connecting both Pods to my computer and then copying and pasting the CD covers that I need; I have also contemplated switching songs that had been mislabeled to their "proper" genres. Unfortunately, due to the already mentioned slowness of my hard drive and memory (I have just 384 RAM), it will most definitely take me an excruciatingly long period of time to accomplish this--my computer even freezes for almost a minute when any transfer of this sort is attempted. And to be sure, I do not want to go through the arduous process that I outlined above when I placed the songs from my external drive to the 80-gig Pod last year.
Failing the above process, then, and knowing the limitations of using the external drive to get what I want, is there a way that I can directly transfer what is in my 80-gig Pod to my 160? Would having both Pods in sync mode accomplish this? Would using my Pod as an external drive and copying files to someone else's computer do the trick? Or is there another method?
Any help would be greatly appreciated.

    Hi Gregory Marchelos,
You should NOT connect both ipods at the same time. Especially with the addition of an ext. HDD. You will likely encounter errors even with a modern PC. That's a whole lotta load to put on 3 USBs, especially on an older PC.
    you wrote:
"is there a way that I can directly transfer what is in my 80-gig Pod to my 160?"
As far as I know, there is no "ipod to ipod" transfer. The closest thing would be to get a 3rd party program (like yamipod) to get the songs from your 80G, transfer it to your PC, import it to itunes, then sync your 160G.
When I used yamipod, however, it did mess up a few of my artists' info (but just a few). So it wasn't a completely smooth transition.
You could try a 3rd party program, like I said. But the surest and safest way would be "arduous process" you mentioned above.
If you decide to do it manually, this time make sure whatever changes you make is saved in your ext. HDD so you don't have to do this again.
