From JDA in PA.  Premiere elements 4 problem

I used SHARE to export a movie to my hard drive so I could email it.  I used the option that makes it into an mpeg file.  When i locate in in Explore, and open it, it doesn't have any sound.  In ADVANCED I made sure that Export video and Export audio were both checked. Can anyone help?

As we say in the FAQs to the right of this forum, you will definitely need to convert that video from your still camera to more standardized DV-AVIs before you can bring them successfully into a Premiere Elements project.
http://forums.adobe.com/thread/415317?tstart=0
If the video produced by your camera is an AVI, you can convert it with Windows MovieMaker.
If the video produced by your camera is an MOV, you can convert it with Super or Quicktime Pro.
Convert the video to DV-AVIs before you bring it into Premiere Elements and it's very likely all of your problems will go away.

Why do I loose rendered footage from my timeline in Premiere Elements 10, after saving my project on exit! When I reopen the project, the timeline needs rendering again! Can anyone help me with this problem, it's driving me mad!
Is there a fix, or is it a problem with settings in the program! Any help, greatly appreciated! Mike's Media.

    Mike,
    Welcome to the forum.
Along with the answers to Steve's questions, please tell us about your computer's I/O sub-system, i.e. your computer's HDD's, and especially where the Project, the media and the PrE Scratch Disks are stored. For instance, if everything is on C:\, or perhaps the Project, media and Scratch Disks are all on an external USB 2.0 HDD.

  • Video overlay issue after I moved from trial to purchased premiere elements

I was using the trial version of premiere elements and was happy with the product. So I decided to buy it. When I did this and put in the serial number I noticed all my video / title overlays are now black. places in my video where I dont have overlay there isnt a problem.
Why did this happen when I switched from trial to purchased product? How do I fix it?

Though I have never read of such problems, let's look at a few possibilities.
You mention "Opacity," and that got me to thinking. Select one of the Clips, that displays as black - click on it. Go to Effects>Edit Effects, to get the Effects Control Panel. Check the Opacity setting (one of the Fixed Effects on every Video Clip). What is that set to?
Test 02 - Dbl-click on one of those offending Clips, to open it in the Source Monitor. Does it play properly there? As that is accessing the physical file on the HDD, and not the editable version on the Timeline, that might tell us something about the file.
Also, what are the specs. of the files, that are not displaying? The reason that I ask is that there are/were a few limitations of the trial (think that the message might still be a sticky at the top of the main forum - not the discussions page - and that it alternates to one about Macs. Wait for it to display, and click on "See Details," to see if maybe there is something there. There are modules in PrE, that require "activation," when one goes to the full-paid version. This activation is usually done transparently, and the user is seldom aware that it has taken place. For it to take place, that computer WILL need to be connected to the Internet.
In your Timeline, do you have red lines over your problem Clips? If so, hit Enter/Return to Render the Timeline for best quality playback. Does that help?
Last, I would check my video driver, and update to the latest one available. My thinking here is that though a video display issue should be rather global for the display/playback in PrE, perhaps it's having problems, where you have two Video Tracks (that does require a bit more power, than just a single Video Track), and perhaps an OS update has rendered that video driver obsolete. That does usually affect the full display of the GUI and also all playback, but again, what you describe is not normal, so if we eliminate all possibilities, we might be able to zero in on the issue.
As you can see, I am just thinking aloud here, as I do not recall this issue ever being posted before. Also, just because something should happen (like PrE easily going from trial to full-paid, with just the S/N), does not mean that it will always happen, as it should.
Good luck, and wish that I had more for you.

  • Capturing from Sony DCR in Premiere Elements 13 not possible?

Premiere Elements does not find the device (SONY DCR-TRV120E PAL), although it is recognized in "Devices and Printers" as "AV/C Subunit / Sony DV Camcorder" (WIN 7) and the device is also recognized and capturing correctly under MS Movie Maker.
    Thanks for any helpful advice!

    Thanks for the reply.
Hope you can use the workarounds suggested in the Adobe document.
Are you within 30 days of purchase from Adobe direct on this one? If so, you can seek a refund/money back from Adobe.
If you purchased from an authorized reseller, then you have to deal with the seller according to the sellers return/refund policy.
If an Adobe online purchase, then Adobe Chat Orders should be able to take care of the refund details.

  • Recording to laptop from Panasonic HVX through Premiere Elements 8

I'm going to be using a Panasonic HVX200 and tethering it to my PC laptop  (It runs vista, has a 300 G hardrive and 3 Gig of RAM) via firewire.  I have Adobe Premiere Elements 8 and want to record using it so I can get HD footage (720p) rather than having to record to DV tapes for Standard Def quality. I also have a 1T external hardrive that will hold the recorded video (this is attached via USB, I can't recall the specs right now and don't have it with me, so I hope this is enough info).
I have never done this before, so I have two questions:
    1) Will it work? I believe it will from what I've read (I know that Final Cut Pro on a Mac can do it, but I haven't seen anything specifically about Premiere Elements so any confirmation would be greatly appreciated).
    2) Are there any specifc settings I need to use to make sure Elements is capturing the video in the best format?
If further specs are needed to answer these questions, please let me know.
    Thanks,
    Kelly

You've got a number of challenges here, Kelly -- not the least of which is that you're trying to edit video from a $6000 professional camcorder on a $75 consumer video editor. You're much more likely to have success with a professional editor, like Premiere CS5, Vegas Pro or Final Cut.
The other challenge is that this camcorder records at a number frame rate in a number of formats, many of which are not compatible with Premiere Elements.
Still, if you're shooting in 1920x1080 30p HDV and you're connected to your computer via FireWire, you may be able to capture and edit the video if you've got your PRemiere Elements project set up for HDV. It's worth a try anyway.
According to the specs online though, the only consumer format this camcorder is capable of shooting at 30i is 720x480 (standard definition) 30i miniDV. None of the hi-def modes are standard consumer modes.
Still, this is predonimantly a DVPro camcorder. And the odds are much more in your favor if you edit its video with professional software.

  • Import an FLV file from Adobe Connect into Premiere Elements 12?

The Adobe Connect support staff recommended that we use Adobe Premiere Elements to edit the FLV file that we exported out of their software.  We purchased Adobe Premiere Elements 12 based on that advice.  Now we see that FLV files are not on the list of supported import files.
How can I import an FLV file from Adobe Connect into Adobe Premiere Elements 12 for editing?

    Welcome to the forum.
Over the years, I have used Moyea's Flash Importer plug-in for PrPro, and it has worked perfectly. With about PrPro CS 4, IIRC, Adobe did add an FLV Importer, so Moyea began to suspend development of that plug-in. Then, with the release of the CC version of PrPro, they dropped FLV completely.
Now, Moyea does have other programs, but I do not know if any of them are plug-ins for PrE. However, many of their programs can create, edit and output FLV.
There is also a (free, if memory serves) FLV converter, FLV to AVI, which I used to convert FLV files, before I discovered the Moyea plug-in for my PrPro.
I would look into Moyea, to see if there is anything, that will work as a plug-in to PrE, http://www.video-to-flash.com/products/, and if not, explore a program, such as FLV to AVI: http://www.pazera-software.com/products/flv-to-avi-converter/

  • How do I delete the audio from a video in Premiere Elements 10?

I took a video on the beach and all you hear is loud, irritating wind roar. I would like to delete the original sound and then add in musical tract on the project. Thank you for any help. I have searched the settings and right-clicked to no avail.

    Rajrae
Sounds like progress. So pleased with your spirit of exploration and experimentation in dealing with the Premiere Elements learning curve. Congratulations.
But, the whys for an issue keep me asking. You should be able to right click that Premiere Elements Timeline video and see the pop up with the option to delete the audio. What computer operating system is your Premiere Elements 10 running on...Windows or Mac?
When I right click the video on my Premiere Elements 10 Windows 7 64 bit Timeline, I see the following:
You seem to be finding Show Properties in that pop up. What else is missing from it besides Delete Audio?
By any chance are you working in the Sceneline of the program instead of the Timeline. That might explain all this. In both the Timeline and Sceneline, you can get Show Properties, but it is only in the Timeline that you see the Delete Audio choice in the pop up.
Please check it out. This will be a great addition to your learning curve if this proves to be the missing point.
    Thanks for the follow ups.

  • How do I keep my videos from being squeezed in Premiere Elements 12?

I was using one dell laptop and moved over to another dell laptop and suddenly Premiere Elements 12 was squeezing my projects. I am unable to adjust the project settings and when I use the interpret footage option, my videos play horribly.  What is the best answer for this?  How can I fix my settings for PE12 since all my footage comes from the same source?

    CKENN19
Thanks for the follow up. It sounds like you are OK, but let me review a few things to make sure.
    Assuming NTSC setup...Windows
    1. If you are capturing DV data with a firewire connection into Premiere Elements 12/12.1, your source media can be DV Standard 4:3 or DV Widescreen 16:9 depending on your camera recording settings.
Premiere Elements 11, 12, and 13 are set up to take over setting the project preset automatically based on the properties of the first video dragged to the Timeline. When it cannot do the job for whatever reason, it does not give you the closest fit to what you require for your particular source. It gives you its default 1080i30 (1920 x 1080 @ 29.97 interlaced frames per second).
If your camera has DV data 4:3, then you set the project preset manually beforehand to NTSC DV Standard. If your camera has DV data 16:9, then you set the project preset manually beforehand to NTSC DV Widescreen. Both Standard and Widescreen have the same frame size, that is, 720 x 480. In the case of the Widescreen, there is a 16:9 flag which stretches the video for display after encoding (to 856 x 480).
You should not have to be using Interpret Footage to get the appropriate aspect ratio when you have done DV data 4:3 or 16:9 capture firewire into Premiere Elements Capture Windows. That concerns me if you do.
Also important is that you are putting DV AVI type 2, not type 1, on your Timeline in the DV data capture firewire process. If Premiere Elements is part of this capture process, DV AVI type 2 is what you should have.
Please consider the above and then let us know, when your schedule permits, if you are OK with the information
    Thank you.

  • Help me import images from Photoshop into a Premiere Elements project!

How do I add photos from Photoshop to existing Premire Elements project.

If you have edited the Images in Photoshop, just Save_As PSD (or TIFF). Set the Still Duration to the desired time, in PrE's Edit>Preferences. Then, Import them into PrE. From the Project Panel, just drag the Image(s) to the Timeline, and to an appropriate Video Track. Say, if you want to place the Image between Clips, just drag it there, and the rest of the Clips/Images on that Video Track will Ripple.
If you want to replace parts of a Clip, with that Image, just hold down Ctrl/Cmd and drag to the appropriate location.
If you want to overlay it, with an existing Clip, just place it onto a higher Video Track. Note: this yields the same general result, as the method above.
I strongly suggest that you Scale your Image in Photoshop, to match, or nearly so, the Frame Size of your Project's Preset.
Good luck, and hope that helps,

  • How do I prevent ExporterAVI.prm from crashing in Adobe Premiere Elements?

It has been crashing in both newly installed versions 11 and 12. The workaround has been to rename this plugin in order for Premiere to start. However, I seem to require this plugin for DV imports to work (from a mini-DV camcorder). I don't get "DV" project settings,  if I use any  other project setting, Premiere crashes after importing the DV footage. I assume it has  to do with  codecs on my PC. I'm runnning Windows 8, it has been the same  with Windows 7  before. Any ideas how to track down the issues are  highly appreciated. Thanks.
    Peter

    *** SOLVED ***
Thank you all, I finally solved the problem. A broken Codec caused ExporterAVI to crash upon start up of Premiere. Renaming the plugin solved that crash but of course disabled AVI as file format for saving. The codec is from "Matrox", I have no idea why or how it got installed. I used an application called G Spot to inspect codecs, but G Sport reported an error when loading codecs (time out). G Spot is well behaved reporting a time out, Premiere just crashes, that's the difference.
Anyway, after removing the broken codec, I could enable ExporterAVI again. Then also the project setting for DV files became available, which obviously depend on the ExporterAVI plugin to be loaded.
    Thanks again

  • Jing MPEG4 and Premiere Elements problem.

Has anyone any experience of using TechSmiths Jing with PE?
Jing produces MPEG4 files of screen capture that play fine on my computer (and everyone elses).
I want to import them into PE to enhance them (something which TechSmith are fine with, in fact they suggest importing them into movie editing programs, "like iMovie").
But when I do, although it looks OK, when I try to play them the video is running at twice the rate of the audio (which is cut off halfway before anyone suggests stretching the video).
I had this response from TechSmith:
"We use H.264 for video encoding, and AAC for audio encoding.
This sounds  like a problem with Premier Elements. The Jing capture is working properly, and  playback in other programs is fine.
I would suggest contacting Adobe for  additional assistance, as the MP4's we generate with Jing are meant for Adobe  Flash Player."
I have tried, literally, every single project setting, NSTC and PAL, that PE provides (and yes, at the speed PE creates new projects, it did take me hours), and they are all exactly the same.
    Anyone any ideas?

This sounds  like a problem with Premier Elements. The Jing capture is working properly, and  playback in other programs is fine.
I sounds like more of a problem with the exact TechSmith CODEC used by Jing. Playback is very different, than editing. Also, some NLE programs can handle some CODEC's, better than others can. It could well be that PrE is having issues with TechSmith's implementation of H.264. Many companies will tweak the H.264, and some of that tweaking can cause issues for some NLE programs. I assume that you have TechSmith's H.264 installed on the system. For more info on CODEC's, in general, see this ARTICLE.
For the speed issue, can you change that in Interpret Footage? Also, what FPS rate is PrE telling you it's seeing? What FPS rate does Jing record at?
"We use H.264 for video encoding, and AAC for audio encoding."
There could also be an issue here. Several Adobe programs have issues with AAC Audio, though I did not see mention of any issues with your files' Audio.
    Good luck,

What computer operating system is your Premiere Elements 12 running? I will assume Windows 7, 8, or 8.1 64 bit for now.
First try...deleting the Adobe Premiere Elements Prefs.
    Local Disk C
    Users
    Owner
    AppData
    Roaming
    Adobe
    Premiere Elements
    12.0
and in the 12.0 Folder is the Adobe Premiere Elements Prefs file that you delete. If that does not work, then delete the whole 12.0 Folder in which
the Adobe Premiere Elements Prefs file exists. Be sure to be working with Folder Option Show Hidden Files, Folders, and Drives enabled so that you can
    see the complete path cited.
If no success with the above, then...
With video or still in Documents and Premiere Elements opened to the Expert workspace, right click the computer taskbar and select Cascade Windows.
Then drag video or still from Documents into the Premiere Elements Expert workspace Timeline.
    Does Project Assets pop open?
Please review and consider, and then we will decide what next based on the details in your reply.
    Thank you.

  • Will Premiere Elements edit a HD video from a 5D Mark II

    Hello,
This may sound like a dumb question but I have been unable to determine it in my research so I thought I would ask. I am looking for a simple software to do minor edits on a HD video from my 5D Mark II. I really don't want to spend 500.00 on software right at the moment so I'm looking for a cheaper solution. Will Premiere Elements edit one of these videos? It seems like the Macs do the job but I don't have a Mac Any help would be appreciated.
    Kim

The bigger challenge isn't just that this is Quicktime video -- it's that this is video from a still camera, which often uses non-standard codecs to create more compact video files.
You can try to convert the video to DV-AVIs using one of the free tools listed in the FAQs to the right of this forum.
    http://forums.adobe.com/thread/415317?tstart=0
But you definitely won't be able to edit video directly from that camera in Premiere Elements without running into lots of problems.

  • Has Premiere Elements 12 fixed the jittery playback issues from CS4?

I use Premiere Pro CS4 to edit my videos. I shoot with a Canon DSLR the 60D and import the video files straight into Premiere Pro without the extra transcoding step. (too much trouble to transcode the raw video with every clip). I get jittery and jerky motion in the left hand Source Monitor, when I make my in and out point edits. It plays fine once I have made my edits and render them in the right hand Program Monitor. I have heard that this has been fixed in version CS5 and higher. I can't afford to buy the CS program again, but could purchase Premiere Elements 12 the latest version. Would the jittery playback still be there in the left Source Monitor window of Elements 12, or has it been fixed in all forward versions newer than CS4?
Also if there is a way to make the imported video play smooth in the Source Monitor directly from CS4, without the transcoding process, I would like to hear about that for sure. Thanks for your help guys. Ken in Toronto.

    Ken
I am surprised that the Premiere Pro group did not answer your Premiere Pro question before transferring your thread to the Premiere Elements Forum. The Premiere Pro question seems to be the immediate one. Your question seems to have been ignored by the Premiere Pro people
Also if there is a way to make the imported video play smooth in the Source Monitor directly from CS4, without the transcoding process, I would like to hear about that for sure.
An answer to that might avoid you having to get involved with a new program, Premiere Elements 12.
Nonetheless, I cannot offer you any guarantee about editing 60D footage in Premiere Elements 12. I would need lots of details of your specific video properties and computer environment to approach an answer. Your best and quickest answer will come from downloading and installing Premiere Elements 12 and determining its compatibility in your computer environment and if it meets your video editing needs.

  • New to FCE from Adobe Premiere Elements

    Hi.
I've just switched from the bug laden Premiere Elements 8 to FCE on my iMac and I have to say so far so good. I just have a basic question about setup for my projects.
I may be getting confused here on account of being Premiere Elements user for the past year, but how do you define your project settings in FCE and is there actually a need to do so?
I am used to establishing my project settings before starting work: i.e. determining the video and audio format, such as whether the footage is DV, HDV, AVCHD, and then whether it's an NTSC or PAL project.
I know FCE can mix and match clip formats - so have I just answered my own question?
    Thanks
    Craig

    Ok. Cheers Ian.
Well..we're a music services company based here in Egypt. We're starting to get into multimedia as we have a nice pro recording facility here. Probably end up doing some low budget web videos/short corporates etc for people based here. Anyway..at the time of writing we are looking to buy a camera in the UK in the next 2 weeks and bring it over to Egypt.
We want a 3CCD/CMOS 'prosumer' camera and have spent the last few months researching - like you do before you spend money you don't have, for a camera you don't really need, for work you probably won't get!
So for around the £2k mark (ouch), we've narrowed it down to either a used Sony Z1E (with around 400 drum hours), a new sony V1E or a Panasonic AVCHD camera like the AG-HMC71 or AG-HMC41.
Now we're stuck. As there are pros and cons for all of the above cameras and we literally cannot afford to spend more to move a step up in order to get a camera that would do the lot.
We've heard that AVCHD workflow is the way to go...but that it's hard on the NLEs. Then the Z1E is industry standard pretty much...and then the V1E is light, shoots great HD picture but has some wierd shutter thing and also the zoom stutters apparently...?
any idea what I'm on about..?
    Cheers

  • Premiere Elements 12 crashes when I try to open the editor

Well Im back and I thought all was well!!
I have successfully made a video recently after having so many problems with Premiere Elements 12 so I have left it a couple of weeks as I have been ill and I thought today "Oh I think I will make another video" so I launched the welsome screen from my shortcut and all looks well. I can go into my organizer and everything is sat there, however when I go to launch the editor...............nothing. The blue bar stays round the video and no "please wait whilst we launch the video edotor" .
In fact I just tried it again and it launched Photoshop 12 editor as I just clicked in the middle of the editor tab but nothing if I click on the "Video Editor" Tab
I closed it down and tried to click on the Video Editor from the welcome screen clicking new project but it just crashes the whole programe?

Hello. Hope you are felling better.
From what you wrote, Premiere Elements just remained closed while you were away from it. Right? Any chance anyone else might have
been using it and made some adjustments? If not, then let us continue...
    1. Let us try opening the program from the Adobe Premiere Elements.exe file.
    Local Disk C
    Program Files
    Adobe
    Adobe Premiere Elements 12
and then scroll down in the Adobe Premiere Elements 12 Folder until you get specifically to Adobe Premiere Elements.exe.
(You do not want the Adobe Premiere Elements 12.exe one).
After you get to the Adobe Premiere Elements.exe file, right click it, select and click on Run As Administrator. Then double
click the file and determine if that opens the program to the Premiere Elements Editor.
    2. If I remember correctly didn't you have to uninstall the antivirus before the program would work? If so, maybe this time,
let us see if we can get away with just disabling "Real Time Protection" in the control area for your antivirus program.
Please try the above and, in the meanwhile, I will be preparing a check list for troubleshooting.
    Thanks.
