JSM - Creating Job Documentation from Job Request itself

Hi all,
I am still exploring JSM, and I know its possible to create Job Request (Job Req) from Job Documentation (Job Doc).
But is it possible to create the reverse (Job Doc from Job Req) ?
This will be great, if the user is creating Job Req from "Detailed" version (compared to "Basic"), which has similar entries and tabs, as Job Doc.
I did read somewhere that its possible, but I never find any documentation or SCN/blogs on this.

Hi Shahul,
the user triggers the Job Doc creation from within the Incident or Change Request in the JSM assignment block, but then the data from teh Job Request is automatically taken over for the Job Document.
So starting the creation and pushing the save button is manual work, but the filling out the Job Doc is done automatically.

we have done lot of testing in redwood. we have scheduled many jobs through redwood.we want to clean up the Job monitor now.we want to delete all the jobs from job monitor.
1)Is there any standard system give Job definition to do so?
2) how to delete jobs in waiting status?(next run is going to lock wait due to this waiting job status)
3)how to delete all the Operator messages?

Hi,
Yes that was for individual job definitions but often if there are many jobs, most jobs come from only a few job definitions (SAP_AbapRun, SAP_CCMSJob, ...) so these options could help you already to delete most jobs.
You could also create a filter showing all Waiting jobs, then select all jobs, right-click and kill all these jobs.
Then a filter for all jobs in an end-state (Completed, Error, Killed, Canceled), select all jobs, right-click and delete them.

must be delete of CATALYST_1
And must be executed in the new Job CATALYST_MOGI.

Here Job A = CATALYST_1 , Job A = CATALYST_MOGI. We have job CATALYST_1 with log entries as below.
Now I have to 1)create a new job CATALYST_MODI (I can do this using SM36 tcode.)
                        2)put some ofthe log entries into job CATALYST_MODI(highlighted by "* iin below logentries)
                        3) delete these entries from CATALYST_1..
In other words I have to include programs ZSYSDI_PARTS_HOLD_RELEASE and ZSYSDI_CALL_SHIP
in the new job CATALYST_MODI and delete these programs from Job CATALYST_1.

Creating job documentation from Job request

Hello Esha,
depends. If you run EhP1 of SAP Solution Manager you can use transaction SLFJ instead of SLFN (prerequisite: multi-transaction type handling is setup). SLFJ comes with the correct action profile already assigned.
If you use SLFN or a custom copy of SLFN, please assign the Job Management action profile. See implementation guide (transaction SPRO) for more information in section "Integration with Service Desk".

Issues while sending automatic email from job scheduled via sm36

Dear basis guys,
We are on Netweaver 2004s, ERP 6 .
I am scheduling (in SM36) a standard report output as background job, send its output to a pdf device and send this pdf automatically to email address. Everything is working fine except that I am not able to do the following:
1. Cannot change the email title (APR****-spool request no.) and body from "The Mail Attachment Contains the Print File Created by User..."
2. I need to send the email to several people. Cannot use the distribution list with the pdf device. IF I use in sm36 "spool list recipients" instead, the attachment sent as pdf will result truncated. Not all report lines will show.
Could someone help on any of the above?

Execute SSIS Package from JOB which contains Execute Process Task calling a .bat file

Hi All,
I have a EXCEL Macro needs to be called from SSIS. We could not use Script task because of some internal reason.
So we have taken an approach to call a .BAT file using Execute Process Task. This .BAT file will call a .VBS file which will execute the EXCEL Macro.
The SSIS Package is running good if I execute the package from BIDS.
But the real problem is with the scheduling this SSIS Package using SQL JOB.
If i execute this SSIS package from SQL Server Job, its executing the whole package successfully except the Execute Process Task.
So the overall issue is SQL Server Job is not executing properly if I call any .BAT file from the SSIS Package.
Please give me suggestion to get rid of the issue. Thanks in advance.

If you run the SQL Server Agent job manually from SSMS, does the package execute properly? If the package executes properly when you run the job manually, the issue should occur due to permission issue. In this case, I suggest that you create a SQL Server
Agent proxy based on the current Windows account which you use to log onto the operating system, and run the job under the proxy account.
If it is not the issue, please enable logging in the package as Visakh mentioned and post the warning/error message for further analysis.

How to set a variable's value from job output

Can anyone point me at documentation on how to set the value of a variable based on the output of a job? We are running TES v6.0.2.153.
The Agent/Adapter is a Linux command line, so the Command could be for example:
echo foo
and I would like a variable named bar to contain the value foo. (Obviously in real life the variable value would be dependent on what the command output)

One more nugget: to parse the response from a command from a UNIX/Linux agent for a specific string and store that in a variable, I followed Rami's advice and then had to find the string in the output.
The below example puts the first digit of a random number in the variable:
Job Command:
bash -c
Command Parameters:
"'echo' Random number is $RANDOM | perl -ple 's/.*Random number is (\d{1}).*/\1/'"
Note that your command itself (in this case "echo") cannot be put in the Command box, otherwise TES does not interpret the Command Parameters correctly. So you need to set the Command to "bash -c" (run the command in the parameter string), and enter your command and parameters within double quotes in the Command Parameters, with the command being run (in this case "echo") in single quotes at the beginning.
(I also had to make my .bash_profile run without any output to avoid it being prefixed to the variable value.)

WinSCP not being executed when package is ran from job

I have a package in the SSIS catalog. It worked fine when it ran in the file system, but like so many others, died when I called it from a job. I ran the problem down to the fact that the account that the job was running under didn't have access to the directories
that the package was trying to access. That solved half my problem.
In my package I'm calling WinSCP from a script task. I can tell the executable is not getting called. No errors are being thrown. I gave the account in question full access to the folder where WinSCP resides but that didn't fix the issue. What else do I
need to look at?

Arthur, WinSCP has logging functionality. When the executable gets called a log file is created. No log file is being created. I did pull that particular piece of functionality out of the package and unit tested it and it worked fine which has only caused
me further frustration.
I am currently getting this series of errors which I only just found:
The expression for the variable "InitialDirectoryFullPath" failed evaluation. There was an error in the expression.
The variable "User:RootFileDirectory" was not found in the variables collection.
Attempt to parse the expression "@[User:RootFileDirectory] + @[InitalDirectory]" failed and returned error code 0xC00470A6. The expression cannot be parsed.
This makes no sense as it runs just fine in other environments under other accounts. Only when I push this thing to a certain box does it fail like this. RootFileDirectory is being populated by a Windows Environment Variable and I thought the problem was
there except there are other parts of the package that use that variable and they work just fine.

VD-2 error in OEM while inserting jobs from job-library

Hi, group.
im quite new to oracle and in my new company i get the goal to make the things run better and faster as the old DBA got fired.
I want to make a job in OEM which back up the whole DB once a day, but every time i want to submit ( i hope this is the right word i use , my english is very bad ) the job from the job-library to the job queue i get the error VD-2 : Systemerror is occured.
I dont know what this error message means. i took a look in the OEM Error Message Guide but i didn find anything.
Can somebody please help my. because my CIO get wilder and wilder as the system completely stuck an i get in many troubles if i couldnt fix the errors fast.

Well that is the error message that it displays. I am not sure why LCM looks for that SAP system, maybe to check the rights. Anyway, remove the SAP system from your CMC and the LCM job should work.

Jobs disappear from job list

Hello experts,
i post this thread because there is a new problem with a reports server running in Oracle Application Server 10.1.2.3.0
We configured a reports server like this:
Engine-ID: rwEng
Classpath:
initEngine: 1
maxEngine: 3
minEngine: 1
engLife: 50
maxIdle (minutes): 30
Cache Size (MB): 30
Timeout (minutes): 15
max Connections: 20
max Queue-size: 1000
trace-option: none
We queued 15 daily executive jobs.
But these jobs disappear after a while. So the queue list is empty!
sometimes after a week and sometimes after a few days this jobs disappear from queue.
May you can help me solving this problem?

Hello, I to have had this problem with a brand new Mac Pro and new install. I did note that, whilst I didn't use the migration assistant I did copy over my preferences from an old system though and may have corrupted something.
My buddies loaded, presumably from AOL system as they appear no matter where i log in from. But a new buddy that i tried to add simply appeared, pulsed for a few seconds and disappeared. I was able to chat with the friend and screen share, audio chat and video chat with them but could only make a connection if I was quick to do so from adding them again to my buddy list.
To resolve the issue I deleted all iChat preference files:
com.apple.iChat.AIM.plist
com.apple.iChat.plist
com.apple.iChat.SubNet.plist
com.apple.iChatAgent.plist
that were stored in my ~/Library/Preferences folder.
I did have to re-sign in to iChat but that is only a user name and password which gets re-stores in my Keychain so no bother.

No need to transfer IT1005 from a Job to a position. Based on the S-C relationship, a position inherits the planned comp from the position, unless you create an IT1005 on the position, in which case that superceded the one inherited from the job

Stored procedure runs OK from SSMS but fails from job scheduler

I have a stored procedure that queries the sysmanagement_shared_registered_servers_internal table in MSDB and performs various other queries from the servers listed in that table via linked servers. I have created a login called SQLInfo_user. When
I run the stored procedure from SSMS with the connection as SQLInfo_user, everything works as designed. However, when I run the job from the job scheduler with SQLInfo_user as the "run as user" parameter, it fails with "Executed as user: SQLInfo_user.
The SELECT permission was denied on the object 'sysmanagement_shared_registered_servers_internal', database 'msdb', schema 'dbo'. [SQLSTATE 42000] (Error 229). The step failed." The login SQLInfo_user has full read and select permissions to
that table in the MSDB database. Any suggestions? Thanks

Try instead of "run as user", make that user owner of job. Also, make sure your that user is in linked server for servers that you are connecting has equivalent user on the the destination servers.

CREATE REPORT FROM JOB LIBRARY

Hi Everyone,
I have created the job and saved in job library, and just want to create report from that job, am not able to find any option in that report.
In breif,
Created job - host command ( for ex : ls -tr)
saved to job Library
After that i just want to take report and send to everybody to the ouput...
Please let me know is there any choice...

So, you now have a report in your job library. To run it, you will need to schedule it..
Edit the report, go to Schedule tab,
- check the "Schedule Report" checkbox
- specify when you want to run the report (now, later etc..)
- check the "Email report each time scheduled report completes" checkbox
- specify email addresses under Email report.
